• 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

• 12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

• 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
• 17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
• 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
• 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
• 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
• 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
• 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
• 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

• 23 and this is His command, that we may believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and may love one another, even as He did give command to us,
• 24 and he who is keeping His commands, in Him he doth remain, and He in him; and in this we know that He doth remain in us, from the Spirit that He gave us.

• 1 Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him.
• 2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.
• 3 Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
• 4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
• 5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin.
• 6 Whoever remains in him doesn't sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him.
• 7 Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
• 8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
• 9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.
• 10 In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.
• 11 For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;
• 12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
• 13 Don't be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.
• 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn't love his brother remains in death.
• 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.
• 16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
• 17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him?
• 18 My little children, let's not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
• 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and persuade our hearts before him,
• 20 because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
• 21 Beloved, if our hearts don't condemn us, we have boldness toward God;
• 22 and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
• 23 This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded.
• 24 He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.

• 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
• 16 Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

• 9 Everyone who has been fathered by God does not practice sin, because God's seed resides in him, and thus he is not able to sin, because he has been fathered by God.
• 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone who does not practice righteousness— the one who does not love his fellow Christian— is not of God.
• 11 For this is the gospel message that you have heard from the beginning: that we should love one another,
• 12 not like Cain who was of the evil one and brutally murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his deeds were evil, but his brother's were righteous.
• 13 Therefore do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.
• 14 We know that we have crossed over from death to life because we love our fellow Christians. The one who does not love remains in death.
• 15 Everyone who hates his fellow Christian is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
• 16 We have come to know love by this: that Jesus laid down his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.
• 17 But whoever has the world's possessions and sees his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God reside in such a person?
• 18 Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.
• 19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth and will convince our conscience in his presence,
• 20 that if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience and knows all things.
• 21 Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,
• 22 and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing to him.
• 23 Now this is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave us the commandment.
• 24 And the person who keeps his commandments resides in God, and God in him. Now by this we know that God resides in us: by the Spirit he has given us.

James 2:13

• 13 Yes, you must show mercy to others. If you do not show mercy, then God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the one who shows mercy can stand without fear before the Judge.

• 1 The Father has loved us so much! This shows how much he loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are his children. But the people in the world don't understand that we are God's children, because they have not known him.
• 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God. We have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him. We will see him just as he is.
• 3 He is pure, and everyone who has this hope in him keeps themselves pure like Christ.
• 4 Anyone who sins breaks God's law. Yes, sinning is the same as living against God's law.
• 5 You know that Christ came to take away people's sins. There is no sin in Christ.
• 6 So whoever lives in Christ does not continue to sin. If they continue to sin, they have never really understood Christ and have never known him.
• 7 Dear children, don't let anyone lead you into the wrong way. Christ always did what was right. So to be good like Christ, you must do what is right.
• 8 The devil has been sinning since the beginning. Anyone who continues to sin belongs to the devil. The Son of God came for this: to destroy the devil's work.
• 9 Those who are God's children do not continue to sin, because the new life God gave them stays in them. They cannot keep sinning, because they have become children of God.
• 10 So we can see who God's children are and who the devil's children are. These are the ones who are not God's children: those who don't do what is right and those who do not love their brothers and sisters in God's family.
• 11 This is the teaching you have heard from the beginning: We must love each other.
• 12 Don't be like Cain. He belonged to the Evil One. Cain killed his brother. But why did he kill him? Because what Cain did was evil, and what his brother did was good.
• 13 Brothers and sisters, don't be surprised when the people of this world hate you.
• 14 We know that we have left death and have come into life. We know this because we love each other as brothers and sisters. Anyone who does not love is still in death.
• 15 Anyone who hates a fellow believer is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has eternal life.
• 16 This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for each other as brothers and sisters.
• 17 Suppose a believer who is rich enough to have all the necessities of life sees a fellow believer who is poor and does not have even basic needs. What if the rich believer does not help the poor one? Then it is clear that God's love is not in that person's heart.
• 18 My children, our love should not be only words and talk. No, our love must be real. We must show our love by the things we do.
• 19 That's how we know we belong to the way of truth. And when our hearts make us feel guilty, we can still have peace before God, because God is greater than our hearts. He knows everything.

• 21 My dear friends, if we don't feel that we are doing wrong, we can be without fear when we come to God.
• 22 And God gives us what we ask for. We receive it because we obey God's commands and do what pleases him.
• 23 This is what God commands: that we believe in his Son Jesus Christ, and that we love each other as he commanded.
• 24 Anyone who obeys God's commands lives in God. And God lives in them. How do we know that God lives in us? We know because of the Spirit he gave us.

James 2:13

• 13 Anyone who shows no loving-kindness will have no loving-kindness shown to him when he is told he is guilty. But if you show loving-kindness, God will show loving-kindness to you when you are told you are guilty.

• 1 See what great love the Father has for us that He would call us His children. And that is what we are. For this reason the people of the world do not know who we are because they did not know Him.
• 2 Dear friends, we are God's children now. But it has not yet been shown to us what we are going to be. We know that when He comes again, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.
• 3 The person who is looking for this to happen will keep himself pure because Christ is pure.
• 4 The person who keeps on sinning is guilty of not obeying the Law of God. For sin is breaking the Law of God.
• 5 You know that Christ came to take away our sins. There is no sin in Him.
• 6 The person who lives by the help of Christ does not keep on sinning. The person who keeps on sinning has not seen Him or has not known Him.
• 7 My children, let no one lead you in the wrong way. The man who does what is right, is right with God in the same way as Christ is right with God.
• 8 The person who keeps on sinning belongs to the devil. The devil has sinned from the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
• 9 No person who has become a child of God keeps on sinning. This is because the Holy Spirit is in him. He cannot keep on sinning because God is his Father.
• 10 This is the way you can know who are the children of God and who are the children of the devil. The person who does not keep on doing what is right and does not love his brother does not belong to God.
• 11 This is what you have heard from the beginning, that we should love each other.
• 12 Do not be like Cain. He was a child of the devil and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? It was because he did what was sinful and his brother did what was right.
• 13 Do not be surprised if the world hates you, Christian brothers.
• 14 We know we have passed from death into life. We know this because we love the Christians. The person who does not love has not passed from death into life.
• 15 A man who hates his brother is a killer in his heart. You know that life which lasts forever is not in one who kills.
• 16 We know what love is because Christ gave His life for us. We should give our lives for our brothers.
• 17 What if a person has enough money to live on and sees his brother in need of food and clothing? If he does not help him, how can the love of God be in him?
• 18 My children, let us not love with words or in talk only. Let us love by what we do and in truth.
• 19 This is how we know we are Christians. It will give our heart comfort for sure when we stand before Him.
• 20 Our heart may say that we have done wrong. But remember, God is greater than our heart. He knows everything.
• 21 Dear friends, if our heart does not say that we are wrong, we will have no fear as we stand before Him.
• 22 We will receive from Him whatever we ask if we obey Him and do what He wants.
• 23 This is what He said we must do: Put your trust in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and love each other. Christ told us to do this.
• 24 The person who obeys Christ lives by the help of God and God lives in him. We know He lives in us by the Holy Spirit He has given us.
