• 9 The company of priests is like a gang of robbers, lying in ambush to pounce on a victim. They commit murder on the road to Shechem; they have done heinous crimes!
• 10 I have seen a disgusting thing in the temple of Israel: there Ephraim practices temple prostitution and Judah defiles itself.
• 11 I have appointed a time to reap judgment for you also, O Judah! Whenever I want to restore the fortunes of my people,

• 5 I used the prophets and made laws for the people. The people were killed at my command, but good things will come from those decisions.
• 6 This is because I want faithful love, not sacrifice, I want people to know God, not to bring burnt offerings.
• 7 But the people broke the agreement as Adam did. They were unfaithful to me in their country.
• 8 Gilead is a city of people who do evil— people who have tricked and killed others.
• 9 The priests are like gangs of robbers hiding and waiting on the road to attack someone. They murder people before they reach safety in Shechem. They do such evil things.
• 10 I have seen a terrible thing in the nation of Israel. Ephraim was unfaithful to God. Israel is dirty with sin.
• 11 Judah, there is also a time of harvest for you. It will happen when I bring my people back from captivity.

• 8 Human, the Lord has told you what goodness is. This is what he wants from you: Be fair to other people. Love kindness and loyalty, and humbly obey your God.

• 9 Like robbers lie in wait for a man, a group of religious leaders kill on the way to Shechem. For sure they have done a sinful thing.
• 10 I have seen a very bad thing among the people of Israel. Ephraim has left Me to worship false gods. Israel has made itself unclean.
• 11 Also, Judah, there is a time coming for you, when I give back the riches of My people.
