1
Now
a
certain
man
was
sick,
named
Lazarus,
of
Bethany,
the
town
of
Mary
and
her
sister
Martha.
2
(It
was
that
Mary
which
anointed
the
Lord
with
ointment,
and
wiped
his
feet
with
her
hair,
whose
brother
Lazarus
was
sick.)
3
Therefore
his
sisters
sent
unto
him,
saying,
Lord,
behold,
he
whom
thou
lovest
is
sick.
4
When
Jesus
heard
that,
he
said,
This
sickness
is
not
unto
death,
but
for
the
glory
of
God,
that
the
Son
of
God
might
be
glorified
thereby.
5
Now
Jesus
loved
Martha,
and
her
sister,
and
Lazarus.
6
When
he
had
heard
therefore
that
he
was
sick,
he
abode
two
days
still
in
the
same
place
where
he
was.
7
Then
after
that
saith
he
to
his
disciples,
Let
us
go
into
Judaea
again.
8
His
disciples
say
unto
him,
Master,
the
Jews
of
late
sought
to
stone
thee;
and
goest
thou
thither
again?
9
Jesus
answered,
Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
If
any
man
walk
in
the
day,
he
stumbleth
not,
because
he
seeth
the
light
of
this
world.
10
But
if
a
man
walk
in
the
night,
he
stumbleth,
because
there
is
no
light
in
him.
11
These
things
said
he:
and
after
that
he
saith
unto
them,
Our
friend
Lazarus
sleepeth;
but
I
go,
that
I
may
awake
him
out
of
sleep.
12
Then
said
his
disciples,
Lord,
if
he
sleep,
he
shall
do
well.
13
Howbeit
Jesus
spake
of
his
death:
but
they
thought
that
he
had
spoken
of
taking
of
rest
in
sleep.
14
Then
said
Jesus
unto
them
plainly,
Lazarus
is
dead.
15
And
I
am
glad
for
your
sakes
that
I
was
not
there,
to
the
intent
ye
may
believe;
nevertheless
let
us
go
unto
him.
16
Then
said
Thomas,
which
is
called
Didymus,
unto
his
fellowdisciples,
Let
us
also
go,
that
we
may
die
with
him.
17
Then
when
Jesus
came,
he
found
that
he
had
lain
in
the
grave
four
days
already.
18
Now
Bethany
was
nigh
unto
Jerusalem,
about
fifteen
furlongs
off:
19
And
many
of
the
Jews
came
to
Martha
and
Mary,
to
comfort
them
concerning
their
brother.
20
Then
Martha,
as
soon
as
she
heard
that
Jesus
was
coming,
went
and
met
him:
but
Mary
sat
still
in
the
house.
21
Then
said
Martha
unto
Jesus,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
22
But
I
know,
that
even
now,
whatsoever
thou
wilt
ask
of
God,
God
will
give
it
thee.
23
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Thy
brother
shall
rise
again.
24
Martha
saith
unto
him,
I
know
that
he
shall
rise
again
in
the
resurrection
at
the
last
day.
25
Jesus
said
unto
her,
I
am
the
resurrection,
and
the
life:
he
that
believeth
in
me,
though
he
were
dead,
yet
shall
he
live:
26
And
whosoever
liveth
and
believeth
in
me
shall
never
die.
Believest
thou
this?
27
She
saith
unto
him,
Yea,
Lord:
I
believe
that
thou
art
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
which
should
come
into
the
world.
28
And
when
she
had
so
said,
she
went
her
way,
and
called
Mary
her
sister
secretly,
saying,
The
Master
is
come,
and
calleth
for
thee.
29
As
soon
as
she
heard
that,
she
arose
quickly,
and
came
unto
him.
30
Now
Jesus
was
not
yet
come
into
the
town,
but
was
in
that
place
where
Martha
met
him.
31
The
Jews
then
which
were
with
her
in
the
house,
and
comforted
her,
when
they
saw
Mary,
that
she
rose
up
hastily
and
went
out,
followed
her,
saying,
She
goeth
unto
the
grave
to
weep
there.
32
Then
when
Mary
was
come
where
Jesus
was,
and
saw
him,
she
fell
down
at
his
feet,
saying
unto
him,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
33
When
Jesus
therefore
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
also
weeping
which
came
with
her,
he
groaned
in
the
spirit,
and
was
troubled,
34
And
said,
Where
have
ye
laid
him?
They
said
unto
him,
Lord,
come
and
see.
35
Jesus
wept.
36
Then
said
the
Jews,
Behold
how
he
loved
him!
37
And
some
of
them
said,
Could
not
this
man,
which
opened
the
eyes
of
the
blind,
have
caused
that
even
this
man
should
not
have
died?
38
Jesus
therefore
again
groaning
in
himself
cometh
to
the
grave.
It
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
lay
upon
it.
39
Jesus
said,
Take
ye
away
the
stone.
Martha,
the
sister
of
him
that
was
dead,
saith
unto
him,
Lord,
by
this
time
he
stinketh:
for
he
hath
been
dead
four
days.
40
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Said
I
not
unto
thee,
that,
if
thou
wouldest
believe,
thou
shouldest
see
the
glory
of
God?
41
Then
they
took
away
the
stone
from
the
place
where
the
dead
was
laid.
And
Jesus
lifted
up
his
eyes,
and
said,
Father,
I
thank
thee
that
thou
hast
heard
me.
42
And
I
knew
that
thou
hearest
me
always:
but
because
of
the
people
which
stand
by
I
said
it,
that
they
may
believe
that
thou
hast
sent
me.
43
And
when
he
thus
had
spoken,
he
cried
with
a
loud
voice,
Lazarus,
come
forth.
44
And
he
that
was
dead
came
forth,
bound
hand
and
foot
with
graveclothes:
and
his
face
was
bound
about
with
a
napkin.
Jesus
saith
unto
them,
Loose
him,
and
let
him
go.
45
Then
many
of
the
Jews
which
came
to
Mary,
and
had
seen
the
things
which
Jesus
did,
believed
on
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
their
ways
to
the
Pharisees,
and
told
them
what
things
Jesus
had
done.
47
Then
gathered
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
a
council,
and
said,
What
do
we?
for
this
man
doeth
many
miracles.
48
If
we
let
him
thus
alone,
all
men
will
believe
on
him:
and
the
Romans
shall
come
and
take
away
both
our
place
and
nation.
49
And
one
of
them,
named
Caiaphas,
being
the
high
priest
that
same
year,
said
unto
them,
Ye
know
nothing
at
all,
50
Nor
consider
that
it
is
expedient
for
us,
that
one
man
should
die
for
the
people,
and
that
the
whole
nation
perish
not.
51
And
this
spake
he
not
of
himself:
but
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
should
die
for
that
nation;
52
And
not
for
that
nation
only,
but
that
also
he
should
gather
together
in
one
the
children
of
God
that
were
scattered
abroad.
53
Then
from
that
day
forth
they
took
counsel
together
for
to
put
him
to
death.
54
Jesus
therefore
walked
no
more
openly
among
the
Jews;
but
went
thence
unto
a
country
near
to
the
wilderness,
into
a
city
called
Ephraim,
and
there
continued
with
his
disciples.
55
And
the
Jews’
passover
was
nigh
at
hand:
and
many
went
out
of
the
country
up
to
Jerusalem
before
the
passover,
to
purify
themselves.
56
Then
sought
they
for
Jesus,
and
spake
among
themselves,
as
they
stood
in
the
temple,
What
think
ye,
that
he
will
not
come
to
the
feast?
57
Now
both
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
a
commandment,
that,
if
any
man
knew
where
he
were,
he
should
shew
it,
that
they
might
take
him.

1
And
there
was
a
certain
one
ailing,
Lazarus,
from
Bethany,
of
the
village
of
Mary
and
Martha
her
sister
--
2
and
it
was
Mary
who
did
anoint
the
Lord
with
ointment,
and
did
wipe
his
feet
with
her
hair,
whose
brother
Lazarus
was
ailing
--
3
therefore
sent
the
sisters
unto
him,
saying,
`Sir,
lo,
he
whom
thou
dost
love
is
ailing;`
4
and
Jesus
having
heard,
said,
`This
ailment
is
not
unto
death,
but
for
the
glory
of
God,
that
the
Son
of
God
may
be
glorified
through
it.`
5
And
Jesus
was
loving
Martha,
and
her
sister,
and
Lazarus,
6
when,
therefore,
he
heard
that
he
is
ailing,
then
indeed
he
remained
in
the
place
in
which
he
was
two
days,
7
then
after
this,
he
saith
to
the
disciples,
`We
may
go
to
Judea
again;`
8
the
disciples
say
to
him,
`Rabbi,
now
were
the
Jews
seeking
to
stone
thee,
and
again
thou
dost
go
thither!`
9
Jesus
answered,
`Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
if
any
one
may
walk
in
the
day,
he
doth
not
stumble,
because
the
light
of
this
world
he
doth
see;
10
and
if
any
one
may
walk
in
the
night,
he
stumbleth,
because
the
light
is
not
in
him.`
11
These
things
he
said,
and
after
this
he
saith
to
them,
`Lazarus
our
friend
hath
fallen
asleep,
but
I
go
on
that
I
may
awake
him;`
12
therefore
said
his
disciples,
`Sir,
if
he
hath
fallen
asleep,
he
will
be
saved;`
13
but
Jesus
had
spoken
about
his
death,
but
they
thought
that
about
the
repose
of
sleep
he
speaketh.
14
Then,
therefore,
Jesus
said
to
them
freely,
`Lazarus
hath
died;
15
and
I
rejoice,
for
your
sake,
(that
ye
may
believe,)
that
I
was
not
there;
but
we
may
go
to
him;`
16
therefore
said
Thomas,
who
is
called
Didymus,
to
the
fellow-disciples,
`We
may
go
--
we
also,
that
we
may
die
with
him,`
17
Jesus,
therefore,
having
come,
found
him
having
been
four
days
already
in
the
tomb.
18
And
Bethany
was
nigh
to
Jerusalem,
about
fifteen
furlongs
off,
19
and
many
of
the
Jews
had
come
unto
Martha
and
Mary,
that
they
might
comfort
them
concerning
their
brother;
20
Martha,
therefore,
when
she
heard
that
Jesus
doth
come,
met
him,
and
Mary
kept
sitting
in
the
house.
21
Martha,
therefore,
said
unto
Jesus,
`Sir,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died;
22
but
even
now,
I
have
known
that
whatever
thou
mayest
ask
of
God,
God
will
give
to
thee;`
23
Jesus
saith
to
her,
`Thy
brother
shall
rise
again.`
24
Martha
saith
to
him,
`I
have
known
that
he
will
rise
again,
in
the
rising
again
in
the
last
day;`
25
Jesus
said
to
her,
`I
am
the
rising
again,
and
the
life;
he
who
is
believing
in
me,
even
if
he
may
die,
shall
live;
26
and
every
one
who
is
living
and
believing
in
me
shall
not
die
--
to
the
age;
27
believest
thou
this?`
she
saith
to
him,
`Yes,
sir,
I
have
believed
that
thou
art
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
who
is
coming
to
the
world.`
28
And
these
things
having
said,
she
went
away,
and
called
Mary
her
sister
privately,
saying,
`The
Teacher
is
present,
and
doth
call
thee;`
29
she,
when
she
heard,
riseth
up
quickly,
and
doth
come
to
him;
30
and
Jesus
had
not
yet
come
to
the
village,
but
was
in
the
place
where
Martha
met
him;
31
the
Jews,
therefore,
who
were
with
her
in
the
house,
and
were
comforting
her,
having
seen
Mary
that
she
rose
up
quickly
and
went
forth,
followed
her,
saying
--
`She
doth
go
away
to
the
tomb,
that
she
may
weep
there.`
32
Mary,
therefore,
when
she
came
where
Jesus
was,
having
seen
him,
fell
at
his
feet,
saying
to
him,
`Sir,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died;`
33
Jesus,
therefore,
when
he
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
who
came
with
her
weeping,
did
groan
in
the
spirit,
and
troubled
himself,
and
he
said,
34
`Where
have
ye
laid
him?`
they
say
to
him,
`Sir,
come
and
see;`
35
Jesus
wept.
36
The
Jews,
therefore,
said,
`Lo,
how
he
was
loving
him!`
37
and
certain
of
them
said,
`Was
not
this
one,
who
did
open
the
eyes
of
the
blind
man,
able
to
cause
that
also
this
one
might
not
have
died?`
38
Jesus,
therefore,
again
groaning
in
himself,
cometh
to
the
tomb,
and
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
was
lying
upon
it,
39
Jesus
saith,
`Take
ye
away
the
stone;`
the
sister
of
him
who
hath
died
--
Martha
--
saith
to
him,
`Sir,
already
he
stinketh,
for
he
is
four
days
dead;`
40
Jesus
saith
to
her,
`Said
I
not
to
thee,
that
if
thou
mayest
believe,
thou
shalt
see
the
glory
of
God?`
41
They
took
away,
therefore,
the
stone
where
the
dead
was
laid,
and
Jesus
lifted
his
eyes
upwards,
and
said,
`Father,
I
thank
Thee,
that
Thou
didst
hear
me;
42
and
I
knew
that
Thou
always
dost
hear
me,
but,
because
of
the
multitude
that
is
standing
by,
I
said
it
,
that
they
may
believe
that
Thou
didst
send
me.`
43
And
these
things
saying,
with
a
loud
voice
he
cried
out,
`Lazarus,
come
forth;`
44
and
he
who
died
came
forth,
being
bound
feet
and
hands
with
grave-clothes,
and
his
visage
with
a
napkin
was
bound
about;
Jesus
saith
to
them,
`Loose
him,
and
suffer
to
go.`
45
Many,
therefore,
of
the
Jews
who
came
unto
Mary,
and
beheld
what
Jesus
did,
believed
in
him;
46
but
certain
of
them
went
away
unto
the
Pharisees,
and
told
them
what
Jesus
did;
47
the
chief
priests,
therefore,
and
the
Pharisees,
gathered
together
a
sanhedrim,
and
said,
`What
may
we
do?
because
this
man
doth
many
signs?
48
if
we
may
let
him
alone
thus,
all

believe
in
him;
and
the
Romans
will
come,
and
will

both

place
and

49
and
a
certain
one
of
them,
Caiaphas,
being
chief
priest
of
that
year,
said
to
them,
`Ye
have
not
known
anything,
50
nor
reason
that
it
is
good
for
us
that
one
man
may
die

and
not
the

51
And
this
he
said
not
of
himself,
but
being
chief
priest
of
that
year,
he
did
prophesy
that
Jesus
was
about

52

not

only,
but
that

children
of
God,

have
been

he
may

into

53
From
that
day,
therefore,
they
took
counsel
together
that
they
may
kill
him;
54
Jesus,
therefore,
was
no

the
Jews,
but
went
away
thence
to

region

Now
a
certain

was
sick,
Lazarus
of
Bethany,
of
the
village
of
Mary
and
her
sister
Martha.

And
it
was
that
Mary
who
anointed
the
Lord
with

wiped
his

with
her

whose

Lazarus
was
sick.
3
The
sisters
therefore
sent
unto
him,
saying,
Lord,
behold,
he
whom
thou
lovest
is
sick.
4
But
when
Jesus
heard

he

This

not
unto
death,
but
for
the
glory
of
God,
that
the
Son
of
God
may
be
glorified
thereby.
5
Now
Jesus
loved
Martha,
and
her
sister,
and
Lazarus.
6
When
therefore
he
heard
that
he
was
sick,
he
abode
at
that
time
two
days
in
the
place
where
he
was.
7
Then
after
this
he
saith
to
the
disciples,
Let
us
go
into
Judaea
again.
8
The
disciples
say
unto
him,
Rabbi,
the
Jews
were
but
now
seeking
to
stone
thee;
and
goest
thou
thither
again?
9
Jesus
answered,
Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
If
a
man
walk
in
the
day,
he
stumbleth
not,
because
he
seeth
the
light
of
this
world.
10
But
if
a
man
walk
in
the
night,
he
stumbleth,
because
the
light
is
not
in
him.
11
These
things
spake
he:
and
after
this
he
saith
unto
them,
Our
friend
Lazarus
is
fallen
asleep;
but
I
go,
that
I
may
awake
him
out
of
sleep.
12
The
disciples
therefore
said
unto
him,
Lord,
if
he
is
fallen
asleep,
he
will
recover.
13
Now
Jesus
had
spoken
of
his
death:
but
they
thought
that
he
spake
of
taking
rest
in
sleep.
14
Then
Jesus
therefore
said
unto
them
plainly,
Lazarus
is
dead.
15
And
I
am
glad
for
your
sakes
that
I
was
not
there,
to
the
intent
ye
may
believe;
nevertheless
let
us
go
unto
him.
16
Thomas
therefore,
who
is
called
Didymus,
said
unto
his
fellow-disciples,
Let
us
also
go,
that
we
may
die
with
him.
17
So
when
Jesus
came,
he
found
that
he
had
been
in
the
tomb
four
days
already.
18
Now
Bethany
was
nigh
unto
Jerusalem,
about
fifteen
furlongs
off;
19
and
many
of
the
Jews
had
come
to
Martha
and
Mary,
to
console
them
concerning
their
brother.
20
Martha
therefore,
when
she
heard
that
Jesus
was
coming,
went
and
met
him:
but
Mary
still
sat
in
the
house.
21
Martha
therefore
said
unto
Jesus,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
22
And
even
now
I
know
that,
whatsoever
thou
shalt
ask
of
God,
God
will
give
thee.
23
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Thy
brother
shall
rise
again.
24
Martha
saith
unto
him,
I
know
that
he
shall
rise
again
in
the
resurrection
at
the
last
day.
25
Jesus
said
unto
her,
I
am
the
resurrection,
and
the
life:
he
that
believeth
on
me,
though
he
die,
yet
shall
he
live;
26
and
whosoever
liveth
and
believeth
on
me
shall
never
die.
Believest
thou
this?
27
She
saith
unto
him,
Yea,
Lord:
I
have
believed
that
thou
art
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
even
he
that
cometh
into
the
world.
28
And
when
she
had
said
this,
she
went
away,
and
called
Mary
her
sister
secretly,
saying,
The
Teacher
is
her,
and
calleth
thee.
29
And
she,
when
she
heard
it,
arose
quickly,
and
went
unto
him.
30
(Now
Jesus
was
not
yet
come
into
the
village,
but
was
still
in
the
place
where
Martha
met
him.)
31
The
Jews
then
who
were
with
her
in
the
house,
and
were
consoling
her,
when
they
saw
Mary,
that
she
rose
up
quickly
and
went
out,
followed
her,
supposing
that
she
was
going
unto
the
tomb
to
weep
there.
32
Mary
therefore,
when
she
came
where
Jesus
was,
and
saw
him,
fell
down
at
his
feet,
saying
unto
him,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
33
When
Jesus
therefore
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
also
weeping
who
came
with
her,
he
groaned
in
the
spirit,
and
was
troubled,
34
and
said,
Where
have
ye
laid
him?
They
say
unto
him,
Lord,
come
and
see.
35
Jesus
wept.
36
The
Jews
therefore
said,
Behold
how
he
loved
him!
37
But
some
of
them
said,
Could
not
this
man,
who
opened
the
eyes
of
him
that
was
blind,
have
caused
that
this
man
also
should
not
die?
38
Jesus
therefore
again
groaning
in
himself
cometh
to
the
tomb.
Now
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
lay
against
it.
39
Jesus
saith,
Take
ye
away
the
stone.
Martha,
the
sister
of
him
that
was
dead,
saith
unto
him,
Lord,
by
this
time
the
body
decayeth;
for
he
hath
been
dead
four
days.
40
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Said
I
not
unto
thee,
that,
if
thou
believedst,
thou
shouldest
see
the
glory
of
God?
41
So
they
took
away
the
stone.
And
Jesus
lifted
up
his
eyes,
and
said,
Father,
I
thank
thee
that
thou
heardest
me.
42
And
I
knew
that
thou
hearest
me
always:
but
because
of
the
multitude
that
standeth
around
I
said
it,
that
they
may
believe
that
thou
didst
send
me.
43
And
when
he
had
thus
spoken,
he
cried
with
a
loud
voice,
Lazarus,
come
forth.
44
He
that
was
dead
came
forth,
bound
hand
and
foot
with
grave-clothes;
and
his
face
was
bound
about
with
a
napkin.
Jesus
saith
unto
them,
Loose
him,
and
let
him
go.
45
Many
therefore
of
the
Jews,
who
came
to
Mary
and
beheld
that
which
he
did,
believed
on
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
away
to
the
Pharisees,
and
told
them
the
things
which
Jesus
had
done.
47
The
chief
priests
therefore
and
the
Pharisees
gathered
a
council,
and
said,
What
do
we?
for
this
man
doeth
many
signs.
48
If
we
let
him
thus
alone,
all
men
will
believe
on
him:
and
the
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
both
our
place
and
our
nation.
49
But
a
certain
one
of
them,
Caiaphas,
being
high
priest
that
year,
said
unto
them,
Ye
know
nothing
at
all,
50
nor
do
ye
take
account
that
it
is
expedient
for
you
that
one
man
should
die
for
the
people,
and
that
the
whole
nation
perish
not.
51
Now
this
he
said
not
of
himself:
but,
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
should
die
for
the
nation;
52
and
not
for
the
nation
only,
but
that
he
might
also
gather
together
into
one
the
children
of
God
that
are
scattered
abroad.
53
So
from
that
day
forth
they
took
counsel
that
they
might
put
him
to
death.
54
Jesus
therefore
walked
no
more
openly
among
the
Jews,
but
departed
thence
into
the
country
near
to
the
wilderness,
into
a
city
called
Ephraim;
and
there
he
tarried
with
the
disciples.
55
Now
the
passover
of
the
Jews
was
at
hand:
and
many
went
up
to
Jerusalem
out
of
the
country
before
the
passover,
to
purify
themselves.
56
They
sought
therefore
for
Jesus,
and
spake
one
with
another,
as
they
stood
in
the
temple,
What
think
ye?
That
he
will
not
come
to
the
feast?
57
Now
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
commandment,
that,
if
any
man
knew
where
he
was,
he
should
show
it,
that
they
might
take
him.

28
When
she
had
said

she
went

and
called
Mary,
her
sister,
secretly,
saying,
"The
Teacher

and
is
calling

29
When
she
heard
this,
she
arose
quickly,
and
went
to
him.
30
Now
Jesus
had
not
yet
come
into
the

but
was

Martha

31

"She

32
Therefore
when
Mary
came
to
where
Jesus
was,
and
saw
him,
she
fell
down
at
his
feet,
saying
to
him,
"Lord,
if
you

my
brother
wouldn't

33
When
Jesus
therefore
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
weeping
who

he
groaned

34
and
said,
"Where

They
told

35
Jesus

36
The
Jews
therefore
said,
"See
how
much

had
for
him!"
37
Some
of
them
said,
"Couldn't
this
man,
who

blind,
have
also
kept
this

38
Jesus
therefore,
again
groaning
in
himself,
came
to
the
tomb.
Now
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
lay
against
it.
39
Jesus
said,
"Take
away
the
stone."
Martha,
the
sister
of
him
who
was
dead,
said
to
him,
"Lord,
by
this
time
there
is
a
stench,
for
he
has
been
dead
four
days."
40
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Didn't
I
tell
you
that
if
you
believed,
you
would
see
God's
glory?"
41
So
they
took
away
the
stone
from
the
place
where
the
dead
man
was
lying.
Jesus
lifted
up
his
eyes,
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
you
that
you
listened
to
me.
42
I
know
that
you
always
listen
to
me,
but
because
of
the
multitude
that
stands

I
said
this,
that

43
When
he
had
said
this,
he
cried
with
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
He
who
was
dead
came
out,
bound
hand
and
foot
with
wrappings,
and
his
face
was
wrapped
around
with
a
cloth.
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Free
him,
and
let
him
go."
45
Therefore
many
of
the
Jews,
who
came
to
Mary
and
saw
what

us

51
Now
he
didn't
say
this
of
himself,
but
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
would
die

52

the

but
that
he
might

53
So
from
that

forward
they

they

54
Jesus
therefore

He

55
Now
the
Passover

the
Jews
was
at
hand.
Many
went
up

Jerusalem
before
the
Passover,
to

Then
they

as
they
stood
in
the

"What
do
you
thinkthat
he
isn't
coming
to
the
feast
at
all?"
57
Now
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
commanded
that
if
anyone
knew
where
he
was,
he
should
report
it,
that
they
might
seize
him.

Jesus

When
therefore
he
heard
that
he

he
abode
at
that

two
days
in
the

where
he

Then
after

he
saith
to
the

Let

say
unto
him,
Rabbi,
the
Jews

Jesus
answered,
Are

If

But
if
a

he

11
These
things
spake
he:
and
after
this
he
saith
unto
them,
Our
friend
Lazarus
is
fallen
asleep;
but
I
go,
that
I
may
awake
him
out
of
sleep.
12
The
disciples
therefore
said
unto
him,
Lord,
if
he
is
fallen
asleep,
he
will
recover.
13
Now
Jesus
had
spoken
of
his
death:
but
they
thought
that
he
spake
of
taking
rest
in
sleep.
14
Then
Jesus
therefore
said
unto
them
plainly,
Lazarus
is
dead.
15
And
I
am
glad
for
your
sakes
that
I
was
not
there,
to
the
intent

nevertheless
let
us
go

16
Thomas
therefore,
who
is
called
Didymus,
said
unto
his
fellow-disciples,
Let
us
also
go,
that
we
may
die
with
him.
17
So
when
Jesus
came,
he
found
that
he
had
been
in
the
tomb
four
days
already.
18
Now
Bethany
was
nigh
unto
Jerusalem,
about
fifteen
furlongs
off;
19
and
many
of
the
Jews
had
come
to
Martha
and
Mary,
to
console
them
concerning
their
brother.
20
Martha
therefore,
when
she
heard
that
Jesus
was
coming,
went
and
met
him:
but
Mary
still
sat
in
the
house.
21
Martha
therefore
said
unto
Jesus,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
22
And
even
now
I
know
that,
whatsoever
thou
shalt
ask
of
God,
God
will
give
thee.
23
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Thy
brother
shall
rise
again.
24
Martha
saith
unto
him,
I
know
that
he
shall
rise
again
in
the
resurrection
at
the
last
day.
25
Jesus
said
unto
her,
I
am
the
resurrection,
and
the
life:
he
that
believeth
on
me,
though
he
die,
yet
shall
he
live:
26
and
whosoever
liveth
and
believeth
on
me
shall
never
die.
Believest
thou
this?
27
She
saith
unto
him,
Yea,
Lord:
I
have
believed
that
thou
art
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
{cf15i
even}
he
that
cometh
into
the
world.
28
And
when
she
had
said
this,
she
went
away,
and
called
Mary
her
sister
secretly,
saying,
The
Master
is
here,
and
calleth
thee.
29
And
she,
when
she
heard
it,
arose
quickly,
and
went
unto
him.
30
(Now
Jesus
was
not
yet
come
into
the
village,
but
was
still
in
the
place
where
Martha
met
him.)
31
The
Jews
then
which
were
with
her
in
the
house,
and
were
comforting
her,
when
they
saw
Mary,
that
she
rose
up
quickly
and
went
out,
followed
her,
supposing
that
she
was
going
unto
the
tomb
to
weep
there.
32
Mary
therefore,
when
she
came
where
Jesus
was,
and
saw
him,
fell
down
at
his
feet,
saying
unto
him,
Lord,
if
thou
hadst
been
here,
my
brother
had
not
died.
33
When
Jesus
therefore
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
{cf15i
also}
weeping
which
came
with
her,
he
groaned
in
the
spirit,
and
was
troubled,
34
and
said,
Where
have
ye
laid
him?
They
say
unto
him,
Lord,
come
and
see.
35
Jesus
wept.
36
The
Jews
therefore
said,
Behold
how
he
loved
him!
37
But
some
of
them
said,
Could
not
this
man,
which
opened
the
eyes
of
him
that
was
blind,
have
caused
that
this
man
also
should
not
die?
38
Jesus
therefore
again
groaning
in
himself
cometh
to
the
tomb.
Now
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
lay
against
it.
39
Jesus
saith,
Take
ye
away
the
stone.
Martha,
the
sister
of
him
that
was
dead,
saith
unto
him,
Lord,
by
this
time
he
stinketh:
for
he
hath
been
{cf15i
dead}
four
days.
40
Jesus
saith
unto
her,
Said
I
not
unto
thee,
that,
if
thou
believedst,
thou
shouldest
see
the
glory
of
God?
41
So
they
took
away
the
stone.
And
Jesus
lifted
up
his
eyes,
and
said,
Father,
I
thank
thee
that
thou
heardest
me.
42
And
I
knew
that
thou
hearest
me
always:
but
because
of
the
multitude
which
standeth
around
I
said
it,
that
they
may
believe
that
thou
didst
send
me.
43
And
when
he
had
thus
spoken,
he
cried
with
a
loud
voice,
Lazarus,
come
forth.
44
He
that
was
dead
came
forth,
bound
hand
and
foot
with
grave-clothes;
and
his
face
was
bound
about
with
a
napkin.
Jesus
saith
unto
them,
Loose
him,
and
let
him
go.
45
Many
therefore
of
the
Jews,
which
came
to
Mary
and
beheld
that
which
he
did,
believed
on
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
away
to
the
Pharisees,
and
told
them
the
things
which
Jesus
had
done.
47
The
chief
priests
therefore
and
the
Pharisees
gathered
a
council,
and
said,
What
do
we?
for
this
man
doeth
many
signs.
48
If
we
let
him
thus
alone,
all
men
will
believe
on
him:
and
the
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
both
our
place
and
our
nation.
49
But
a
certain
one
of
them,
Caiaphas,
being
high
priest
that
year,
said
unto
them,
Ye
know
nothing
at
all,
50
nor
do
ye
take
account
that
it
is
expedient
for
you
that
one
man
should
die
for
the
people,
and
that
the
whole
nation
perish
not.
51
Now
this
he
said
not
of
himself:
but
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
should
die
for
the
nation;
52
and
not
for
the
nation
only,
but
that
he
might
also
gather
together
into
one
the
children
of
God
that
are
scattered
abroad.
53
So
from
that
day
forth
they
took
counsel
that
they
might
put
him
to
death.
54
Jesus
therefore
walked
no
more
openly
among
the
Jews,
but
departed
thence
into
the
country
near
to
the
wilderness,
into
a
city
called
Ephraim;
and
there
he
tarried
with
the
disciples.
55
Now
the
passover
of
the
Jews
was
at
hand:
and
many
went
up
to
Jerusalem
out
of
the
country
before
the
passover,
to
purify
themselves.
56
They
sought
therefore
for
Jesus,
and
spake
one
with
another,
as
they
stood
in
the
temple,
What
think
ye?
That
he
will
not
come
to
the
feast?
57
Now
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
commandment,
that,
if
any
man
knew
where
he
was,
he
should
shew
it,
that
they
might
take
him.

32
Then

It

39
Jesus
said,
Take

Martha,
the
sister
of
him
that

said
to
him,
Lord,
by

40
Jesus
said
to

Said
I

that,

41
Then
they
took
away
the
stone
from
the
place
where
the
dead
was
laid.
And
Jesus
lifted
up
his

and
said,
Father,
I

42
And

their
ways
to
the
Pharisees,
and
told
them
what
things
Jesus
had
done.
47
Then
gathered
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
a
council,
and
said,
What
do
we?
for
this
man
does
many
miracles.
48
If
we
let
him
thus
alone,
all
men
will
believe
on
him:
and
the
Romans
shall
come
and
take
away
both
our
place
and
nation.
49
And
one
of
them,
named
Caiaphas,
being
the
high
priest
that
same
year,
said
to
them,
You
know
nothing
at
all,
50
Nor
consider
that
it
is
expedient
for
us,
that
one
man
should
die
for
the
people,
and
that
the
whole
nation
perish
not.
51
And
this
spoke
he
not
of
himself:
but
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
should
die
for
that
nation;
52
And
not
for
that
nation
only,
but
that
also
he
should
gather
together
in
one
the
children
of
God
that
were
scattered
abroad.
53
Then
from
that
day
forth
they
took
counsel
together
for
to
put
him
to
death.
54
Jesus
therefore
walked
no
more
openly
among
the
Jews;
but
went
there
to
a
country
near
to
the
wilderness,
into
a
city
called
Ephraim,
and
there
continued
with
his
disciples.
55
And
the
Jews'
passover
was
near
at
hand:
and
many
went
out
of
the
country
up
to
Jerusalem
before
the
passover,
to
purify
themselves.
56
Then
sought
they
for
Jesus,
and
spoke
among
themselves,
as
they
stood
in
the
temple,
What
think
you,
that
he
will
not
come
to
the
feast?
57
Now
both
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
a
commandment,
that,
if
any
man
knew
where
he
were,
he
should
show
it,
that
they
might
take
him.

1
Now
a
certain
man
named
Lazarus
was
sick.
He
was
from
Bethany,
the
village
where
Mary
and
her
sister
Martha
lived.
2
(Now
it
was
Mary
who
anointed
the
Lord
with
perfumed
oil
and
wiped
his
feet
dry
with
her
hair,
whose
brother
Lazarus
was
sick.)
3
So
the
sisters
sent
a
message
to
Jesus,
"Lord,
look,
the
one
you
love
is
sick."
4
When
Jesus
heard
this,
he
said,
"This
sickness
will
not
lead
to
death,
but
to
God's
glory,
so
that
the
Son
of
God
may
be
glorified
through
it."
5
(Now
Jesus
loved
Martha
and
her
sister
and
Lazarus.)
6
So
when
he
heard
that
Lazarus
was
sick,
he
remained
in
the
place
where
he
was
for
two
more
days.
7
Then
after
this,
he
said
to
his
disciples,
"Let
us
go
to
Judea
again."
8
The
disciples
replied,
"Rabbi,
the
Jewish
leaders
were
just
now
trying
to
stone
you
to
death!
Are
you
going
there
again?"
9
Jesus
replied,
"Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
a
day?
If
anyone
walks
around
in
the
daytime,
he
does
not
stumble,
because
he
sees
the
light
of
this
world.
10
But
if
anyone
walks
around
at
night,
he
stumbles,
because
the
light
is
not
in
him."
11
After
he
said
this,
he
added,
"Our
friend
Lazarus
has
fallen
asleep.
But
I
am
going
there
to
awaken
him."
12
Then
the
disciples
replied,
"Lord,
if
he
has
fallen
asleep,
he
will
recover."
13
(Now
Jesus
had
been
talking
about
his
death,
but
they
thought
he
had
been
talking
about
real
sleep.)
14
Then
Jesus
told
them
plainly,
"Lazarus
has
died,
15
and
I
am
glad
for
your
sake
that
I
was
not
there,
so
that
you
may
believe.
But
let
us
go
to
him."
16
So
Thomas
(called
Didymus)
said
to
his
fellow
disciples,
"Let
us
go
too,
so
that
we
may
die
with
him."
17
When
Jesus
arrived,
he
found
that
Lazarus
had
been
in
the
tomb
four
days
already.
18
(Now
Bethany
was
less
than
two
miles
from
Jerusalem,
19
so
many
of
the
Jewish
people
of
the
region
had
come
to
Martha
and
Mary
to
console
them
over
the
loss
of
their
brother.)
20
So
when
Martha
heard
that
Jesus
was
coming,
she
went
out
to
meet
him,
but
Mary
was
sitting
in
the
house.
21
Martha
said
to
Jesus,
"Lord,
if
you
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died.
22
But
even
now
I
know
that
whatever
you
ask
from
God,
God
will
grant
you."
23
Jesus
replied,
"Your
brother
will
come
back
to
life
again."
24
Martha
said,
"I
know
that
he
will
come
back
to
life
again
in
the
resurrection
at
the
last
day."
25
Jesus
said
to
her,
"I
am
the
resurrection
and
the
life.
The
one
who
believes
in
me
will
live
even
if
he
dies,
26
and
the
one
who
lives
and
believes
in
me
will
never
die.
Do
you
believe
this?"
27
She
replied,
"Yes,
Lord,
I
believe
that
you
are
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God
who
comes
into
the
world."
28
And
when
she
had
said
this,
Martha
went
and
called
her
sister
Mary,
saying
privately,
"The
Teacher
is
here
and
is
asking
for
you."
29
So
when
Mary
heard
this,
she
got
up
quickly
and
went
to
him.
30
(Now
Jesus
had
not
yet
entered
the
village,
but
was
still
in
the
place
where
Martha
had
come
out
to
meet
him.)
31
Then
the
people
who
were
with
Mary
in
the
house
consoling
her
saw
her
get
up
quickly
and
go
out.
They
followed
her,
because
they
thought
she
was
going
to
the
tomb
to
weep
there.
32
Now
when
Mary
came
to
the
place
where
Jesus
was
and
saw
him,
she
fell
at
his
feet
and
said
to
him,
"Lord,
if
you
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died."
33
When
Jesus
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
people
who
had
come
with
her
weeping,
he
was
intensely
moved
in
spirit
and
greatly
distressed.
34
He
asked,
"Where
have
you
laid
him?"
They
replied,
"Lord,
come
and
see."
35
Jesus
wept.
36
Thus
the
people
who
had
come
to
mourn
said,
"Look
how
much
he
loved
him!"
37
But
some
of
them
said,
"This
is
the
man
who
caused
the
blind
man
to
see!
Couldn't
he
have
done
something
to
keep
Lazarus
from
dying?"
38
Jesus,
intensely
moved
again,
came
to
the
tomb.
(Now
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
was
placed
across
it.)
39
Jesus
said,
"Take
away
the
stone."
Martha,
the
sister
of
the
deceased,
replied,
"Lord,
by
this
time
the
body
will
have
a
bad
smell,
because
he
has
been
buried
four
days."
40
Jesus
responded,
"Didn't
I
tell
you
that
if
you
believe,
you
would
see
the
glory
of
God?"
41
So
they
took
away
the
stone.
Jesus
looked
upward
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
you
that
you
have
listened
to
me.
42
I
knew
that
you
always
listen
to
me,
but
I
said
this
for
the
sake
of
the
crowd
standing
around
here,
that
they
may
believe
that
you
sent
me."
43
When
he
had
said
this,
he
shouted
in
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
The
one
who
had
died
came
out,
his
feet
and
hands
tied
up
with
strips
of
cloth,
and
a
cloth
wrapped
around
his
face.
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Unwrap
him
and
let
him
go."
45
Then
many
of
the
people,
who
had
come
with
Mary
and
had
seen
the
things
Jesus
did,
believed
in
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
to
the
Pharisees
and
reported
to
them
what
Jesus
had
done.
47
So
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
called
the
council
together
and
said,
"What
are
we
doing?
For
this
man
is
performing
many
miraculous
signs.
48
If
we
allow
him
to
go
on
in
this
way,
everyone
will
believe
in
him,
and
the
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
our
sanctuary
and
our
nation."
49
Then
one
of
them,
Caiaphas,
who
was
high
priest
that
year,
said,
"You
know
nothing
at
all!
50
You
do
not
realize
that
it
is
more
to
your
advantage
to
have
one
man
die
for
the
people
than
for
the
whole
nation
to
perish."
51
(Now
he
did
not
say
this
on
his
own,
but
because
he
was
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
was
going
to
die
for
the
Jewish
nation,
52
and
not
for
the
Jewish
nation
only,
but
to
gather
together
into
one
the
children
of
God
who
are
scattered.)
53
So
from
that
day
they
planned
together
to
kill
him.
54
Thus
Jesus
no
longer
went
around
publicly
among
the
Judeans,
but
went
away
from
there
to
the
region
near
the
wilderness,
to
a
town
called
Ephraim,
and
stayed
there
with
his
disciples.
55
Now
the
Jewish
feast
of
Passover
was
near,
and
many
people
went
up
to
Jerusalem
from
the
rural
areas
before
the
Passover
to
cleanse
themselves
ritually.
56
Thus
they
were
looking
for
Jesus,
and
saying
to
one
another
as
they
stood
in
the
temple
courts,
"What
do
you
think?
That
he
won't
come
to
the
feast?"
57
(Now
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
orders
that
anyone
who
knew
where
Jesus
was
should
report
it,
so
that
they
could
arrest
him.)

Mary's

3
So
Mary
and
Martha
sent
someone
to
tell
Jesus,
"Lord,
your

Lazarus
is
sick."
4
When
Jesus
heard
this
he
said,
"The

this

will
not

death.
No,
this

8
They
answered,
"But

those

tried
to
stone

to
death.
That
was
only
a
short
time
ago.
Now
you
want
to
go
back
there?"
9
Jesus
answered,
"There
are
twelve
hours
of
light
in
the
day.
Whoever
walks
in
the
day
will
not
stumble
and
fall
because
they
can
see
with
the
light
from
the
sun.
10
But
whoever
walks
at
night
will
stumble
because
there
is
no

11
Then
Jesus
said,
"Our
friend
Lazarus
is
now
sleeping,
but
I
am
going
there
to
wake
him."
12
The
followers
answered,
"But,
Lord,
if
he
can
sleep,
he
will
get
well."
13
They
thought
Jesus
meant
that
Lazarus
was
literally
sleeping,
but
he
really
meant
that
Lazarus
was
dead.
14
So
then
Jesus
said
plainly,
"Lazarus
is
dead.
15
And
I
am
glad
I
was
not
there.
I
am
happy
for
you
because
now
you
will
believe
in
me.
We
will
go
to
him
now."
16
Then
Thomas,
the
one
called
"Twin,"
said
to
the
other
followers,
"We
will
go
too.
We
will
die
there
with
Jesus."

Jesus
arrived
in

and
found
that
Lazarus
had

in

They
came
to

about
their

Martha
heard
that
Jesus

she
went
out
to
greet

But
Mary
stayed
home.
21
Martha
said
to
Jesus,
"Lord,

my
brother
would
not
have
died.
22
But
I
know
that
even
now
God

23
Jesus
said,
"Your
brother
will
rise
and
be

again."
24
Martha
answered,
"I
know
that
he
will
rise
to
live
again
at
the
time
of
the
resurrection
on
the
last

25
Jesus
said
to
her,
"I
am
the
resurrection.
I
am
life.
Everyone
who

will

even

26
And
everyone
who

Martha,
do

27
Martha
answered,
"Yes,
Lord.
I
believe
that
you
are
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God.
You
are
the
one
who
was
coming
to
the
world."
28
After
Martha
said
these
things,
she
went
back
to
her
sister
Mary.
She
talked
to
Mary
alone
and
said,
"The
Teacher
is
here.
He
is
asking
for
you."
29
When
Mary
heard
this,
she
stood
up
and
went
quickly
to
Jesus.
30
He
had
not
yet
come
into
the
village.
He
was
still
at
the
place
where
Martha
met
him.
31
The
Jews
who
were
in
the
house
comforting
Mary
saw
her
get
up
and
leave
quickly.
They
thought
she
was
going
to
the
tomb
to
cry
there.
So
they
followed
her.
32
Mary
went
to
the
place
where
Jesus
was.
When
she
saw
him,
she
bowed
at
his
feet
and
said,
"Lord,
if
you
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died."
33
When
Jesus
saw
Mary
crying
and
the
people
with
her
crying
too,
he
was
very
upset
and
deeply
troubled.
34
He
asked,
"Where
did
you
put
him?"
They
said,
"Lord,
come
and
see."
35
Jesus
cried.
36
And
the
Jews
said,
"Look!
He
loved
Lazarus
very
much!"
37
But
some
of
them
said,
"Jesus
healed
the
eyes
of
the
blind
man.
Why
didn't
he
help
Lazarus
and
stop
him
from
dying?"
38
Again
feeling
very
upset,
Jesus
came
to
the
tomb.
It
was
a
cave
with
a
large
stone
covering
the
entrance.
39
He
said,
"Move
the
stone
away."
Martha
said,
"But,
Lord,
it
has
been
four
days
since
Lazarus
died.
There
will
be
a
bad
smell."
Martha
was
the
sister
of
the
dead
man.
40
Then
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Remember
what
I
told
you?
I
said
that
if
you
believed,
you
would
see
God's
divine
greatness.
"
41
So
they
moved
the
stone
away
from
the
entrance.
Then
Jesus
looked
up
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
you
that
you
heard
me.
42
I
know
that
you
always
hear
me.
But
I
said
these
things
because
of
the
people
here
around
me.
I
want
them
to
believe
that
you
sent
me."
43
After
Jesus
said
this
he
called
in
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
The
dead
man
came
out.
His
hands
and
feet
were
wrapped
with
pieces
of
cloth.
He
had
a
handkerchief
covering
his
face.
Jesus
said
to
the
people,
"Take
off
the
cloth
and
let
him
go."
45
There
were
many
Jews
who
came
to
visit
Mary.
When
they
saw
what
Jesus
did,
many
of
them
believed
in
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
to
the
Pharisees
and
told
them
what
Jesus
did.
47
Then
the
leading
priests
and
Pharisees
called
a
meeting
of
the
high
council.
They
said,
"What
should
we
do?
This
man
is
doing
many
miraculous
signs.
48
If
we
let
him
continue
doing
these
things,
everyone
will
believe
in
him.
Then
the
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
our
Temple
and
our
nation."
49
One
of
the
men
there
was
Caiaphas.
He
was
the
high
priest
that
year.
He
said,
"You
people
know
nothing!
50
It
is
better
for
one
man
to
die
for
the
people
than
for
the
whole
nation
to
be
destroyed.
But
you
don't
realize
this."
51
Caiaphas
did
not
think
of
this
himself.
As
that
year's
high
priest,
he
was
really
prophesying
that
Jesus
would
die
for
the
Jewish
people.
52
Yes,
he
would
die
for
the
Jewish
people.
But
he
would
also
die
for
God's
other
children
scattered
all
over
the
world.
He
would
die
to
bring
them
all
together
and
make
them
one
people.
53
That
day
the
Jewish
leaders
began
planning
to
kill
Jesus.
54
So
Jesus
stopped
traveling
around
openly
among
the
Jews.
He
went
away
to
a
town
called
Ephraim
in
an
area
near
the
desert.
He
stayed
there
with
his
followers.
55
It
was
almost
time
for
the
Jewish
Passover
festival.
Many
people
from
the
country
went
to
Jerusalem
before
the
Passover.
They
went
to
do
the
special
things
to
make
themselves
pure
for
the
festival.
56
The
people
looked
for
Jesus.
They
stood
in
the
Temple
area
and
asked
each
other,
"Is
he
coming
to
the
festival?
What
do
you
think?"
57
But
the
leading
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
a
special
order
about
Jesus.
They
said
that
anyone
who
knew
where
he
was
must
tell
them
so
that
they
could
arrest
him.

A
man
named
Lazarus
was
sick.
He
lived
in
the
town
of
Bethany
with
his
sisters,
Mary
and
Martha.
2
This
was
the
Mary
who
put
perfume
on
the
Lord
and
dried
His
feet
with
her
hair.
It
was
her
brother
Lazarus
who
was
sick.
3
The
sisters
sent
word
to
Jesus,
saying,
"Lord,
your
friend
is
sick!"
4
When
Jesus
heard
this,
He
said,
"This
sickness
will
not
end
in
death.
It
has
happened
so
that
it
will
bring
honor
to
God.
And
the
Son
of
God
will
be
honored
by
it
also."
5
Jesus
loved
Martha
and
her
sister
and
Lazarus.
6
But
when
He
heard
that
Lazarus
was
sick,
He
stayed
where
He
was
two
more
days.
7
Then
He
said
to
His
followers,
"Let
us
go
into
the
country
of
Judea
again."
8
The
followers
said
to
Him,
"Teacher,
the
Jews
tried
to
throw
stones
at
You
to
kill
You
not
long
ago.
Are
You
going
there
again?"
9
Jesus
said,
"Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
If
a
man
walks
during
the
day,
he
will
not
fall.
He
sees
the
light
of
this
world.
10
If
a
man
walks
during
the
night,
he
will
fall.
The
light
is
not
in
him."
11
After
Jesus
had
said
this,
He
spoke
again
and
said,
"Our
friend
Lazarus
is
sleeping.
I
will
go
and
wake
him
up."
12
The
followers
said
to
Him,
"If
he
is
sleeping,
he
will
get
well."
13
But
Jesus
meant
Lazarus
was
dead.
They
thought
He
meant
Lazarus
was
resting
in
sleep.
14
Then
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Lazarus
is
dead.
15
Because
of
you
I
am
glad
I
was
not
there
so
that
you
may
believe.
Come,
let
us
go
to
him."
16
Thomas,
who
was
called
the
Twin,
said
to
the
other
followers,
"Let
us
go
also
so
we
may
die
with
Jesus."
17
When
Jesus
got
there,
He
heard
that
Lazarus
had
been
in
the
grave
four
days.
18
Bethany
was
about
onehalf
hour
walk
from
Jerusalem.
19
Many
Jews
had
come
to
Martha
and
Mary
to
give
words
of
comfort
about
their
brother.
20
Martha
heard
that
Jesus
was
coming
and
went
to
meet
Him.
Mary
stayed
in
the
house.
21
Martha
said
to
Jesus,
"Lord,
if
You
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died.
22
I
know
even
now
God
will
give
You
whatever
You
ask."
23
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Your
brother
will
rise
again."
24
Martha
said
to
Him,
"I
know
that
he
will
rise
again
when
the
dead
are
raised
from
the
grave
on
the
last
day."
25
Jesus
said
to
her,
"I
am
the
One
Who
raises
the
dead
and
gives
them
life.
Anyone
who
puts
his
trust
in
Me
will
live
again,
even
if
he
dies.
26
Anyone
who
lives
and
has
put
his
trust
in
Me
will
never
die.
Do
you
believe
this?"
27
She
answered,
"Yes,
Lord,
I
believe
that
You
are
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God.
You
are
the
One
Who
was
to
come
into
the
world."
28
After
Martha
said
this,
she
went
and
called
her
sister
Mary.
She
said
without
anyone
else
hearing,
"The
Teacher
is
here
and
has
sent
for
you."
29
When
Mary
heard
this,
she
got
up
and
went
to
Him.
30
Jesus
had
not
yet
come
into
their
town.
He
was
still
where
Martha
had
met
Him.
31
The
Jews
had
been
in
the
house
comforting
Mary.
They
saw
her
get
up
and
hurry
out.
They
followed
her
and
said,
"She
is
going
to
the
grave
to
cry
there."
32
Mary
went
to
the
place
where
Jesus
was.
When
she
saw
Him,
she
got
down
at
His
feet.
She
said
to
Him,
"Lord,
if
You
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died."
33
Jesus
saw
her
crying.
The
Jews
who
came
with
her
were
crying
also.
His
heart
was
very
sad
and
He
was
troubled.
34
He
said,
"Where
did
you
lay
Lazarus?"
They
said,
"Lord,
come
and
see."
35
Then
Jesus
cried.
36
The
Jews
said,
"See
how
much
He
loved
Lazarus."
37
Some
of
them
said,
"This
Man
opened
the
eyes
of
the
blind
man.
Could
He
not
have
kept
this
man
from
dying?"
38
Jesus
went
to
the
grave
with
a
sad
heart.
The
grave
was
a
cave
in
the
side
of
a
hill.
A
stone
covered
the
door.
39
Jesus
said,
"Take
the
stone
away."
The
dead
man's
sister,
Martha,
said
to
Him,
"Lord,
by
now
his
body
has
a
bad
smell.
He
has
been
dead
four
days."
40
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Did
I
not
say
that
if
you
would
believe,
you
would
see
the
shining-greatness
of
God?"
41
They
took
the
stone
away.
Jesus
looked
up
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
You
for
hearing
Me.
42
I
know
You
always
hear
Me.
But
I
have
said
this
for
the
people
standing
here,
so
they
may
believe
You
have
sent
Me."
43
When
He
had
said
this,
He
called
with
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
The
man
who
had
been
dead
came
out.
His
hands
and
feet
were
tied
in
grave
clothes.
A
white
cloth
was
tied
around
his
face.
Jesus
said
to
the
people,
"Take
off
the
grave
clothes
and
let
him
go!"
45
Many
of
the
Jews
who
had
come
to
visit
Mary
and
had
seen
what
Jesus
had
done
put
their
trust
in
Him.
46
Some
of
them
went
to
the
proud
religious
law-keepers
and
told
them
what
Jesus
had
done.
47
The
religious
leaders
of
the
Jews
and
the
proud
religious
law-keepers
gathered
a
court
together.
They
said,
"What
will
we
do?
This
Man
is
doing
many
powerful
works.
48
If
we
let
Him
keep
doing
these
things,
all
men
will
put
their
trust
in
Him.
The
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
the
house
of
God
and
our
nation."
49
Caiaphas
was
the
head
religious
leader
that
year.
He
said
to
them,
"You
know
nothing
about
this.
50
Do
you
not
see
it
is
better
for
one
man
to
die
for
the
people
than
for
the
whole
nation
to
be
destroyed?"
51
Caiaphas
did
not
think
of
these
words
himself.
He
spoke
what
God
had
said
would
happen.
He
was
telling
before
it
happened
that
Jesus
must
die
for
the
nation.
52
He
must
die
not
only
for
the
nation,
but
also
to
bring
together
into
one
group
the
children
of
God
who
were
living
in
many
places.
53
From
that
day
on
they
talked
together
about
how
they
might
kill
Jesus.
54
For
this
reason
Jesus
did
not
walk
out
in
the
open
among
the
Jews.
He
went
to
a
town
called
Ephraim.
It
was
near
a
desert.
He
stayed
there
with
His
followers.
55
The
special
religious
gathering
to
remember
how
the
Jews
left
Egypt
was
soon.
Many
people
from
around
the
country
came
up
to
Jerusalem
to
go
through
the
religious
washing
before
the
special
supper.
56
They
looked
for
Jesus.
They
stood
together
in
the
house
of
God
and
asked
each
other,
"What
do
you
think?
Will
He
come
to
the
special
supper?"
57
The
religious
leaders
of
the
Jews
and
the
proud
religious
law-keepers
had
said
that
if
any
man
knew
where
Jesus
was,
he
should
tell
them.
They
wanted
to
take
Him.

A
man
named
Lazarus
was
sick.
He
lived
in
the
town
of
Bethany,
where
Mary
and
her
sister
Martha
lived.
2
Mary
was
the
woman
who
later
put

on
the
Lord
and
wiped
his
feet
with
her
hair.
Mary's
brother
was
Lazarus,
the
man
who
was
now
sick.
3
So
Mary
and
Martha
sent
someone
to
tell
Jesus,
"Lord,
the
one
you
love
is
sick."
4
When
Jesus
heard
this,
he
said,
"This
sickness
will
not
end
in
death.
It
is
for
the
glory
of
God,
to
bring
glory
to
the
Son
of

5
Jesus
loved
Martha
and
her

and
Lazarus.
6
But
when
he
heard
that
Lazarus
was

he
stayed
where
he

7
Then
Jesus
said
to
his

"Let's
go
back
to
Judea."
8
The
followers
said,
"But
Teacher,
the
Jews
there
tried
to
stone
you
to
death
only
a
short
time
ago.
Now
you
want
to
go
back
there?"
9
Jesus
answered,
"Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
If
anyone
walks
in
the
daylight,
he
will
not
stumble,
because
he
can
see
by
this
world's
light.
10
But
if
anyone
walks
at
night,
he
stumbles
because
there
is
no
light
to
help
him
see."
11
After
Jesus
said
this,
he
added,
"Our
friend
Lazarus
has
fallen
asleep,
but
I
am
going
there
to
wake
him."
12
The
followers
said,
"But
Lord,
if
he
is
only
asleep,
he
will
be
all
right."
13
Jesus
meant
that
Lazarus
was
dead,
but
his
followers
thought
he
meant
Lazarus
was
really
sleeping.
14
So
then
Jesus
said
plainly,
"Lazarus
is
dead.
15
And
I
am
glad
for
your
sakes
I
was
not
there
so
that
you
may
believe.
But
let's
go
to
him
now."
16
Then
Thomas
(the
one
called
Didymus)
said
to
the
other
followers,
"Let
us
also
go
so
that
we
can
die
with
him."
17
When
Jesus
arrived,
he
learned
that
Lazarus
had
already
been
dead
and
in
the
tomb
for
four
days.
18
Bethany
was

miles
from

19
Many
of

had
come

to
comfort

20
When
Martha
heard
that
Jesus
was

she
went
out
to
meet
him,
but
Mary
stayed
home.
21
Martha
said
to
Jesus,
"Lord,
if
you

my
brother
would
not

22
But
I
know
that
even

23
Jesus
said,
"Your
brother

24
Martha
answered,
"I
know
that
he
will
rise
and
live
again
in
the
resurrectionn
on
the
last
day."
25
Jesus
said
to
her,
"I
am
the
resurrection
and
the
life.
Those
who
believe
in
me
will
have
life
even
if
they
die.
26
And
everyone
who
lives
and
believes
in
me
will
never
die.
Martha,
do
you
believe
this?"
27
Martha
answered,
"Yes,
Lord.
I
believe
that
you
are
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
the
One
coming
to
the
world."
28
After
Martha
said
this,
she
went
back
and
talked
to
her
sister
Mary
alone.
Martha
said,
"The
Teacher
is
here
and
he
is
asking
for
you."
29
When
Mary
heard
this,
she
got
up
quickly
and
went
to
Jesus.
30
Jesus
had
not
yet
come
into
the
town
but
was
still
at
the
place
where
Martha
had
met
him.
31
The
Jews
were
with
Mary
in
the
house,
comforting
her.
When
they
saw
her
stand
and
leave
quickly,
they
followed
her,
thinking
she
was
going
to
the
tomb
to
cry
there.
32
But
Mary
went
to
the
place
where
Jesus
was.
When
she
saw
him,
she
fell
at
his
feet
and
said,
"Lord,
if
you
had
been
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died."
33
When
Jesus
saw
Mary
crying
and
the
Jews
who
came
with
her
also
crying,
he
was
upset
and
was
deeply
troubled.
34
He
asked,
"Where
did
you
bury
him?"
"Come
and
see,
Lord,"
they
said.
35
Jesus
cried.
36
So
the
Jews
said,
"See
how
much
he
loved
him."
37
But
some
of
them
said,
"If
Jesus
opened
the
eyes
of
the
blind
man,
why
couldn't
he
keep
Lazarus
from
dying?"
38
Again
feeling
very
upset,
Jesus
came
to
the
tomb.
It
was
a
cave
with
a
large
stone
covering
the
entrance.
39
Jesus
said,
"Move
the
stone
away."
Martha,
the
sister
of
the
dead
man,
said,
"But,
Lord,
it
has
been
four
days
since
he
died.
There
will
be
a
bad
smell."
40
Then
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Didn't
I
tell
you
that
if
you
believed
you
would
see
the
glory
of
God?"
41
So
they
moved
the
stone
away
from
the
entrance.
Then
Jesus
looked
up
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
you
that
you
heard
me.
42
I
know
that
you
always
hear
me,
but
I
said
these
things
because
of
the
people
here
around
me.
I
want
them
to
believe
that
you
sent
me."
43
After
Jesus
said
this,
he
cried
out
in
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
The
dead
man
came
out,
his
hands
and
feet
wrapped
with
pieces
of
cloth,
and
a
cloth
around
his
face.
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Take
the
cloth
off
of
him
and
let
him
go."
45
Many
of
the
Jews,
who
had
come
to
visit
Mary
and
saw
what
Jesus
did,
believed
in
him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
to
the
Pharisees
and
told
them
what
Jesus
had
done.
47
Then
the
leading
priests
and
Pharisees
called
a
meeting
of
the
Jewish
council.
They
asked,
"What
should
we
do?
This
man
is
doing
many
miracles.
48
If
we
let
him
continue
doing
these
things,
everyone
will
believe
in
him.
Then
the
Romans
will
come
and
take
away
our
Temple
and
our
nation."
49
One
of
the
men
there
was
Caiaphas,
the
high
priest
that
year.
He
said,
"You
people
know
nothing!
50
You
don't
realize
that
it
is
better
for
one
man
to
die
for
the
people
than
for
the
whole
nation
to
be
destroyed."
51
Caiaphas
did
not
think
of
this
himself.
As
high
priest
that
year,
he
was
really
prophesying
that
Jesus
would
die
for
the
Jewish
nation
52
and
for
God's
scattered
children
to
bring
them
all
together
and
make
them
one.
53
That
day
they
started
planning
to
kill
Jesus.
54
So
Jesus
no
longer
traveled
openly
among
the
Jews.
He
left
there
and
went
to
a
place
near
the
desert,
to
a
town
called
Ephraim
and
stayed
there
with
his
followers.
55
It
was
almost
time
for
the
Jewish
Passover
Feast.
Many
from
the
country
went
up
to
Jerusalem
before
the
Passover
to
do
the
special
things
to
make
themselves
pure.
56
The
people
looked
for
Jesus
and
stood
in
the
Temple
asking
each
other,
"Is
he
coming
to
the
Feast?
What
do
you
think?"
57
But
the
leading
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
orders
that
if
anyone
knew
where
Jesus
was,
he
must
tell
them.
Then
they
could
arrest
him.

1
And
there
was
a
certain
sick
one,
Lazarus
from
Bethany,
of
the
village
of
Mary
and
her
sister
Martha.
2
And
it
was
Mary
who
anointed
the
Lord
with
ointment
and
wiped
His
feet
with
her
hair,
whose
brother
Lazarus
was
sick.
3
Then
the
sisters
sent
to
Him,
saying,
Lord,
behold,
the
one
whom
You
love
is
sick.
4
And
hearing,
Jesus
said,
This
is
not
sickness
to
death,
but
for
the
glory
of
God,
that
the
Son
of
God
be
glorified
by
it.
5
And
Jesus
loved
Martha
and
her
sister
and
Lazarus.
6
Therefore,
when
He
heard
that
he
is
sick,
then,
indeed,
He
remained
in
the
place
where
He
was
two
days.
7
Then
after
this
He
said
to
the
disciples,
Let
us
go
to
Judea
again.
8
The
disciples
said
to
Him,
Rabbi,
just
now
the
Jews
were
seeking
to
stone
You,
and
do
You
go
there
again?
9
Jesus
answered,
Are
there
not
twelve
hours
in
the
day?
If
anyone
walks
in
the
day,
he
does
not
stumble
because
he
sees
the
light
of
the
world.
10
But
if
anyone
walks
in
the
night,
he
stumbles
because
the
light
is
not
in
him.
11
He
said
these
things.
And
after
this,
He
said
to
them,
Our
friend
Lazarus
has
fallen
asleep,
but
I
am
going
that
I
may
awaken
him.
12
Then
His
disciples
said,
Lord,
if
he
has
fallen
asleep,
he
will
recover.
13
But
Jesus
had
spoken
about
his
death,
but
they
thought
that
He
spoke
of
the
sleep
of
slumber.
14
Therefore,
then
Jesus
said
to
them
plainly,
Lazarus
has
died.
15
And
I
rejoice
because
of
you,
in
order
that
you
may
believe,
that
I
was
not
there.
But
let
us
go
to
him.
16
Then
Thomas,
he
having
been
called
Twin,
said
to
the
fellow
disciples,
Let
us
go,
even
we,
that
we
may
die
with
Him.
17
Then
coming,
Jesus
found
him
already
being
held
in
the
tomb
four
days.
18
And
Bethany
was
near
Jerusalem,
about
fifteen
stadia
off.
19
And
many
of
the
Jews
had
come
to
those
around
Martha
and
Mary,
that
they
might
console
them
concerning
their
brother.
20
Then
when
Martha
heard
that
Jesus
is
coming,
she
met
Him;
but
Mary
was
sitting
in
the
house.
21
Then
Martha
said
to
Jesus,
Lord,
if
You
were
here,
my
brother
would
not
be
dead.
22
But
even
now
I
know
that
whatever
You
may
ask
God,
God
will
give
You.
23
Jesus
said
to
her,
Your
brother
will
rise
again.
24
Martha
said
to
Him,
I
know
that
he
will
rise
again
in
the
resurrection
in
the
last
day.
25
Jesus
said
to
her,
I
am
the
Resurrection
and
the
Life.
The
one
believing
into
Me,
though
he
die,
he
shall
live.
26
And
everyone
living
and
believing
into
Me
shall
not
die
to
the
age,
never!
Do
you
believe
this?
27
She
said
to
Him,
Yes,
Lord,
I
have
believed
that
You
are
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God
who
comes
into
the
world.
28
And
saying
these
things,
she
went
away
and
called
her
sister
Mary
secretly,
saying,
The
Teacher
is
here
and
calls
you.
29
That
one,
when
she
heard,
rose
up
quickly
and
came
to
Him.
30
And
Jesus
had
not
yet
come
into
the
village,
but
was
in
the
place
where
Martha
met
Him.
31
Then
the
Jews
who
were
with
her
in
the
house,
and
consoling
her,
seeing
that
Mary
quickly
rose
up
and
went
out,
they
followed
her,
saying,
She
is
going
to
the
tomb
so
that
she
may
weep
there.
32
Then
Mary,
when
she
came
where
Jesus
was,
seeing
Him,
she
fell
at
His
feet,
saying
to
Him,
Lord,
if
You
were
here,
my
brother
would
not
have
died.
33
Then
when
He
saw
her
weeping,
and
the
Jews
who
came
down
with
her
weeping,
Jesus
groaned
in
the
spirit
and
troubled
Himself.
34
And
He
said,
Where
have
you
put
him?
They
said
to
Him,
Lord,
come
and
see.
35
Jesus
wept.
36
Then
the
Jews
said,
See
how
He
loved
him!
37
But
some
of
them
said,
Was
this
One,
the
One
opening
the
eyes
of
the
blind,
not
able
to
have
caused
that
this
one
should
not
die?
38
Then
groaning
again
within
Himself,
Jesus
came
to
the
tomb.
And
it
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
was
lying
on
it.
39
Jesus
said,
Lift
the
stone.
Martha,
the
sister
of
the
one
that
had
died,
said
to
Him,
Lord,
he
already
smells,
for
it
is
the
fourth
day.
40
Jesus
said
to
her,
Did
I
not
say
to
you
that
if
you
would
believe
you
will
see
the
glory
of
God?
41
Then
they
lifted
the
stone
where
the
dead
one
was
laid.
And
Jesus
lifted
His
eyes
upward
and
said,
Father,
I
thank
You
that
You
heard
Me.
42
And
I
know
that
You
always
hear
Me,
but
because
of
the
crowd
standing
around,
I
said
it,
that
they
might
believe
that
You
sent
Me.
43
And
saying
these
things,
He
cried
out
with
a
loud
voice,
Lazarus!
Here!
Outside!
44
And
the
one
who
had
died
came
out,
the
feet
and
the
hands
having
been
bound
with
sheets,
and
his
face
being
bound
with
a
cloth.
Jesus
said
to
them,
Loosen
him
and
allow
him
to
go.
45
Then
many
of
the
Jews,
those
coming
to
Mary,
and
having
seen
what
Jesus
did,
believed
into
Him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
away
to
the
Pharisees
and
told
them
what
Jesus
had
done.
47
Then
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
assembled
a
sanhedrin,
and
said,
What
are
we
doing,
for
this
man
does
many
miraculous
signs?
48
If
we
let
Him
alone
this
way,
all
will
believe
into
Him,
and
the
Romans
will
come
and
will
take
away
from
us
both
the
place
and
the
nation.
49
But
a
certain
one
of
them,
Caiaphas
being
high
priest
of
that
year,
said
to
them,
You
know
nothing,
50
nor
consider
that
it
is
profitable
for
us
that
one
man
die
for
the
people,
and
not
all
the
nation
to
perish.
51
But
he
did
not
say
this
from
himself,
but
being
high
priest
that
year,
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
was
about
to
die
on
behalf
of
the
nation,
52
and
not
only
on
behalf
of
the
nation,
but
that
He
also
might
gather
into
one
the
children
of
God
who
had
been
scattered.
53
Then
from
that
day,
they
took
counsel
that
they
might
kill
Him.
54
Then
Jesus
no
longer
walked
publicly
among
the
Jews,
but
went
away
from
there
into
the
country
near
a
deserted
place,
to
a
city
being
called
Ephraim,
and
stayed
there
with
His
disciples.
55
And
the
Passover
of
the
Jews
was
near.
And
many
went
up
to
Jerusalem
out
of
the
country
before
the
Passover,
that
they
might
purify
themselves.
56
Then
they
sought
Jesus,
and
said
with
one
another,
standing
in
the
temple,
What
does
it
seem
to
you?
That
He
does
not
at
all
come
to
the
Feast?
57
And
all
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
commands
that
if
anyone
knew
where
He
is,
he
should
inform
so
that
they
might
seize
Him.

Now
a
man

Lazarus,
from

Mary

Martha.
2
Mary

3
So
the
sisters
sent
a
message
to
Him:
"Lord,
the

sick."
4
When
Jesus
heard
it,
He

"This

5
(Jesus
loved

6
So
when
He
heard
that
he

He
stayed
two

in
the

Then

He

to
the

"Let's

8
"Rabbi,"
the
disciples
told
Him,
"just
now

You,
and
You're

9
"Aren't
there
12

Jesus
answered.
"If
anyone

he
doesn't

because
he
sees
the

of
this

10
If
anyone

during
the
night,
he

11
He
said
this,
and
then
He
told
them,
"Our

but
I'm

12
Then
the
disciples
said
to
Him,
"Lord,
if
he

he
will
get
well."
13
Jesus,
however,
was
speaking
about
his
death,
but
they
thought
He
was
speaking
about
natural

Jesus
then
told
them

"Lazarus

"Let's

23
"Your

24
Martha
said,
"I
know
that
he
will

again
in
the

at
the

25
Jesus
said
to
her,
"I

26
Everyone

Do

27
"Yes,

she
told
Him,
"I

the

who

28
Having

she

back
and
called

Mary,
saying
in
private,
"The

29
As

she

this,
she
got

went
to
Him.

Jesus
had

went
out.
So
they
followed
her,
supposing
that
she
was
going
to
the
tomb
to
cry
there.
32
When
Mary
came
to
where
Jesus
was
and
saw
Him,
she
fell
at
His
feet
and
told
Him,
"Lord,
if
You

my

33
When
Jesus
saw
her
crying,
and
the
Jews
who
had
come
with
her
crying,
He
was
angry
in
His
spirit
and
deeply
moved.
34
"Where
have
you
put
him?"
He
asked.
"Lord,"
they
told
Him,
"come
and
see."
35
Jesus
wept.
36
So
the
Jews
said,
"See
how
He

37
But
some
of
them
said,
"Couldn't

kept
this
man
from
dying?"
38
Then
Jesus,
angry
in
Himself
again,
came
to
the
tomb.
It
was
a
cave,
and
a
stone
was
lying
against
it.
39
"Remove
the
stone,"
Jesus
said.
Martha,
the
dead
man's
sister,
told
Him,
"Lord,
he
already
stinks.
It's
been
four
days."
40
Jesus
said
to
her,
"Didn't
I
tell
you
that
if
you
believed
you
would
see
the
glory
of
God?"
41
So
they
removed
the
stone.
Then
Jesus
raised
His
eyes
and
said,
"Father,
I
thank
You
that
You
heard
Me.
42
I
know
that
You
always
hear
Me,
but
because
of
the
crowd
standing
here
I
said
this,
so
they
may
believe
You
sent
Me."
43
After
He
said
this,
He
shouted
with
a
loud
voice,
"Lazarus,
come
out!"
44
The
dead
man
came
out
bound
hand
and
foot
with
linen
strips
and
with
his
face
wrapped
in
a
cloth.
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Loose
him
and
let
him
go."
45
Therefore
many
of
the
Jews
who
came
to
Mary
and
saw
what
He
did
believed
in
Him.
46
But
some
of
them
went
to
the
Pharisees
and
told
them
what
Jesus
had
done.
47
So
the
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
convened
the
Sanhedrin
and
said,
"What
are
we
going
to
do
since
this
man
does
many
signs?
48
If
we
let
Him
continue
in
this
way,
everybody
will
believe
in
Him!
Then
the
Romans
will
come
and
remove
both
our
place
and
our
nation."
49
One
of
them,
Caiaphas,
who
was
high
priest
that
year,
said
to
them,
"You
know
nothing
at
all!
50
You're
not
considering
that
it
is
to
your
advantage
that
one
man
should
die
for
the
people
rather
than
the
whole
nation
perish."
51
He
did
not
say
this
on
his
own,
but
being
high
priest
that
year
he
prophesied
that
Jesus
was
going
to
die
for
the
nation,
52
and
not
for
the
nation
only,
but
also
to
unite
the
scattered
children
of
God.
53
So
from
that
day
on
they
plotted
to
kill
Him.
54
Therefore
Jesus
no
longer
walked
openly
among
the
Jews
but
departed
from
there
to
the
countryside
near
the
wilderness,
to
a
town
called
Ephraim.
And
He
stayed
there
with
the
disciples.
55
The
Jewish
Passover
was
near,
and
many
went
up
to
Jerusalem
from
the
country
to
purify
themselves
before
the
Passover.
56
They
were
looking
for
Jesus
and
asking
one
another
as
they
stood
in
the
temple
complex:
"What
do
you
think?
He
won't
come
to
the
festival,
will
He?"
57
The
chief
priests
and
the
Pharisees
had
given
orders
that
if
anyone
knew
where
He
was,
he
should
report
it
so
they
could
arrest
Him.
