1 দায়ূদ জৈতুন পর্বতের চূড়ার দিকে যখন কিছুটা উঠেছেন, তখন মফীবোশতের ভৃত্য সীবঃ এর সঙ্গে দায়ূদের দেখা হল| সীবঃ এর গাধা দুটি তাদের পিঠে বস্তাভরা জিনিস বয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছিল| তাতে
2 রাজা দায়ূদ সীবঃকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “এই জিনিসগুলো কি কাজে লাগবে?”সীবঃ উত্তর দিল, “গাধাগুলি রাজপরিবারের লোকদের চড়ার জন্য| রুটি এবং গ্রীষ্মের ফলগুলো রাজার আধিকারিকদের খাওয়ার জন্য| মরুভূমির পথে কেউ যদি দুর্বল হয়ে পড়ে সে এই দ্রাক্ষারস পান করতে পারে|”
3 তখন রাজা জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “মফীবোশত্‌ কোথায?”সীবঃ উত্তর দিল, “মফীবোশত্‌ এখন জেরুশালেমে রযেছে| সে ভাবছে, ‘ইস্রায়েলীয়রা আজ আমার দাদুর রাজত্ব আমায় ফিরিযে দেবে|”‘
4 তখন রাজা সীবঃকে বললেন, “সেই কারণে মফীবোশতের যা কিছু আছে তা আমি তোমাকে দিলাম|”সীবঃ বলল, “আমি আপনাকে প্রণাম করি| আমার বিশ্বাস, আমি সর্বদাই আপনাকে সন্তুষ্ট রাখতে পারব|”
5 দায়ূদ বহুরীমে এলেন| শৌলের পরিবারের একজন লোক বহুরীম থেকে এল| লোকটার নাম শিমিযি - সে গেরার পুত্র| শিমিযি দায়ূদের উদ্দেশ্যে অহিতকর কথা বলতে বলতে বেরিয়ে এল| এবং বার বার সে খারাপ কথাই বলতে থাকল|
6 শিমিযি দায়ূদ এবং তাঁর আধিকারিকদের দিকে পাথর ছুঁড়ছিল| কিন্তু সব লোক এবং সৈন্যরা দায়ূদকে ঘিরে দাঁড়াল এবং তাঁর চারদিকে জড়ো হল|
7 শিমিযি দায়ূদকে এই বলে অভিশাপ দিল: “বেরিয়ে যাও, বেরিয়ে যাও, তুমি একজন জঘন্য খুনী!
8 প্রভু তোমার শাস্তি দিচ্ছেন| কেন? কারণ তুমি শৌলের পরিবারের লোকদের মেরে ফেলেছ| তুমি চুরি করে শৌলের জায়গায় রাজা হয়ে বসেছ| এখন সেরকমই খারাপ কিছু তোমার নিজের ক্ষেত্রে ঘটছে| প্রভু তোমার রাজত্ব তোমার পুত্র অবশালোমকে দিয়েছেন| কেন? কারণ তুমি একজন খুনী|”
9 সরূযার পুত্র অবীশয রাজাকে বলল, “এই মরা কুকুরটা কেন আপনাকে অভিশাপ করবে? হে রাজা, প্রভু আমার, আমাকে যেতে দিন, আমি গিয়ে শিমিযির মুণ্ডু কেটে উড়িযে দিই|”
10 কিন্তু রাজা উত্তর দিলেন, “ওহে সরূযার পুত্র, এটা তোমার কোন ব্যাপার নয়| সে প্রকৃতই আমাকে অভিশাপ দিচ্ছে| কিন্তু প্রভু তাকে বলেছেন আমাকে অভিশাপ দিতে| প্রভু যা করেন সে বিষযে কে তাঁকে প্রশ্ন করতে পারে?”
11 দায়ূদ অবীশয এবং তাঁর ভৃত্যদের আরও বললেন, “দেখ, আমার নিজের পুত্র অবশালোম আমাকে হত্যা করতে চাইছে| বিন্যামীন পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর এই ব্যক্তির (শিমিযি) আমাকে হত্যা করার অনেক বেশী অধিকার আছে| ওকে একা ছেড়ে দাও| ওকে আমায় অভিশাপ দিয়ে যেতে দাও| প্রভু ওকে এই কাজ করতে বলেছেন|
12 হয়তো আমার প্রতি যা কিছু ভুল করা হয়েছে প্রভু তা দেখবেন| তাহলে শিমিযি আজ আমার বিরুদ্ধে যা যা খারাপ কথা বলেছে, প্রভু হয়তো তার জন্য আমাকে ভাল কিছু দেবেন|”
13 অতএব দায়ূদ এবং তাঁর লোকরা রাস্তা দিয়ে পুনরায চলতে লাগল| কিন্তু শিমিযি দায়ূদকে অনুসরণ করতে থাকলো| রাস্তার অন্যদিক দিয়ে সে পাহাড়ের ধারে ধারে চলতে থাকলো| পথে যেতে যেতে শিমিযি দায়ূদের উদ্দেশ্যে খারাপ খারাপ কথা বলতে থাকলো| শিমিযি দায়ূদের উদ্দেশ্যে পাথর এবং কাদা ছুঁড়তে লাগল|
14 রাজা দায়ূদ এবং তাঁর সব লোকরা যর্দন নদীর কাছে এসে পৌঁছলেন| রাজা এবং তাঁর লোকরা খুব ক্লান্ত ছিলেন| তাঁরা সেখানে বিশ্রাম নিয়ে নিজেদের খানিকটা চাঙ্গা করে নিলেন|
15 অবশালোম, অহীথোফল এবং ইস্রায়েলের সব লোক জেরুশালেমে এল|
16 দায়ূদের বন্ধু অকীয হূশয অবশালোমের কাছে এল| হূশয অবশালোমকে বলল, “রাজা দীর্ঘজীবী হোক্! রাজা দীর্ঘজীবী হোক্!”
17 অবশালোম উত্তর দিল, “তুমি তোমার বন্ধু দায়ূদের প্রতি একনিষ্ঠ নও কেন? তুমি তোমার বন্ধুর সঙ্গে জেরুশালেম থেকে চলে গেলে না কেন?”
18 হূশয বলল, “প্রভু যাকে বেছে নেন আমি তো তারই| লোকরা এবং ইস্রায়েলের সব লোকরা আপনাকে বেছে নিয়েছে| আমি আপনার সঙ্গে অবশ্যই থাকব|
19 অতীতে আমি আপনার পিতার সেবা করেছি| অতএব এখন আমি দায়ূদের পুত্রের সেবা করব| আমি আপনারই সেবা করব|”
20 অবশালোম অহীথোফলকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “বল, এখন কি করা উচিত্‌|”
21 তখন অহীথোফল অবশালোমকে কহিল, তোমার পিতা বাটী রক্ষার্থে যাহাদিগকে রাখিয়া গিয়াছেন, তুমি আপন পিতার সেই উপপত্নীদের কাছে গমন কর; তাহাতে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল শুনিবে যে, তুমি পিতার ঘৃণাস্পদ হইয়াছ, তখন তোমার সঙ্গী সমস্ত লোকের হস্ত সবল হইবে।
22 পরে লোকেরা অবশালোমের নিমিত্ত প্রাসাদের ছাদে একটা তাম্বু স্থাপন করিল, তাহাতে অবশালোম সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের সাক্ষাতে আপন পিতার উপপত্নীদের কাছে গমন করিল।
23 ঐ সময়ে অহীথোফল যে মন্ত্রণা দিত, সেই মন্ত্রণা ঈশ্বরের বাক্যে উত্তরপ্রাপ্তির তুল্য ছিল; দায়ূদের ও অবশালোমের, উভয়ের বোধে অহীথোফলের যাবতীয় মন্ত্রণা তাদৃশ ছিল।

And Ziba H6717 said H559 W-VQY3MS , The asses H2543 be for the king H4428 D-NMS \'s household H1004 to ride on H7392 ; and the bread H3899 and summer fruit H7019 for the young men H5288 D-NMP to eat H398 ; and the wine H3196 , that such as be faint H3287 in the wilderness H4057 may drink H8354 .
3 And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , And where H346 W-IGAT is thy master H113 \'s son H1121 ? And Ziba H6717 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the king H4428 D-NMS , Behold H2009 IJEC , he abideth H3427 VQPMS at Jerusalem H3389 : for H3588 CONJ he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Today H3117 D-AMS shall the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 restore H7725 me the kingdom H4468 of my father H1 .
4 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS the king H4428 D-NMS to Ziba H6717 , Behold H2009 IJEC , thine are all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO pertained unto Mephibosheth H4648 . And Ziba H6717 said H559 W-VQY3MS , I humbly beseech H7812 thee that I may find H4672 VQY1MS grace H2580 NMS in thy sight H5869 , my lord H113 , O king H4428 .
5 And when king H4428 D-NMS David H1732 MMS came H935 to H5704 PREP Bahurim H980 , behold H2009 IJEC , thence H8033 M-ADV came out H3318 a man H376 NMS of the family H4940 M-CFS of the house H1004 CMS of Saul H7586 , whose name H8034 was Shimei H8096 , the son H1121 CMS of Gera H1617 : he came forth H3318 VQPMS , and cursed H7043 still as he came H3318 VQFA .
6 And he cast H5619 stones H68 at David H1732 MMS , and at all H3605 NMS the servants H5650 of king H4428 D-NMS David H1732 MMS : and all H3605 NMS the people H5971 and all H3605 NMS the mighty men H1368 D-AMP were on his right hand H3225 and on his left H8040 .
7 And thus H3541 said H559 VQQ3MS Shimei H8096 when he cursed H7043 , Come out H3318 VQI2MS , come out H3318 VQI2MS , thou bloody H1818 man H376 NMS , and thou man H376 NMS of Belial H1100 :
8 The LORD H3068 EDS hath returned H7725 VHQ3MS upon H5921 PREP-2MS thee all H3605 NMS the blood H1818 CMP of the house H1004 CMS of Saul H7586 , in whose H834 RPRO stead H8478 PREP-3MS thou hast reigned H4427 ; and the LORD H3068 EDS hath delivered H5414 W-VQQ3MS the kingdom H4410 into the hand H3027 B-CFS of Absalom H53 thy son H1121 : and , behold H2009 , thou art taken in thy mischief H7451 , because H3588 CONJ thou H859 PPRO-2MS art a bloody H1818 man H376 NMS .
9 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS Abishai H52 the son H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 unto H413 PREP the king H4428 D-NMS , Why H4100 L-IPRO should this H2088 D-PMS dead H4191 dog H3611 curse H7043 my lord H113 the king H4428 D-NMS ? let me go over H5674 , I pray thee H4994 IJEC , and take off H5493 his head H7218 CMP-3MS .
10 And the king H4428 D-NMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , What H4100 IPRO have I to do with you , ye sons H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 ? so H3541 let him curse H7043 , because H3588 the LORD H3068 EDS hath said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , Curse H7043 David H1732 MMS . Who H4310 W-IPRO shall then say H559 W-VQY3MS , Wherefore H4069 IPRO hast thou done H6213 so H3651 ADV ?
11 And David H1732 MMS said H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Abishai H52 , and to H413 PREP all H3605 NMS his servants H5650 , Behold H2009 IJEC , my son H1121 , which H834 RPRO came forth H3318 VQQ3MS of my bowels H4578 , seeketh H1245 my life H5315 CFS-1MS : how much more H637 W-CONJ now H6258 ADV may this Benjamite H1145 do it ? let him alone H5117 , and let him curse H7043 ; for H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS hath bidden H559 W-VQY3MS him .

15 And Absalom H53 , and all H3605 W-CMS the people H5971 the men H376 NMS of Israel H3478 , came H935 VQQ3MP to Jerusalem H3389 , and Ahithophel H302 with H854 PREP-3MS him .
16 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , when H834 Hushai H2365 the Archite H757 , David H1732 \'s friend H7463 , was come H935 VQPMS unto H413 PREP Absalom H53 , that Hushai H2365 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Absalom H53 , God save H2421 the king H4428 D-NMS , God save H2421 the king H4428 .
17 And Absalom H53 said H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Hushai H2365 , Is this H2088 DPRO thy kindness H2617 to thy friend H7453 ? why H4100 L-IPRO wentest H1980 thou not H3808 ADV with H854 PREP thy friend H7453 ?
18 And Hushai H2365 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Absalom H53 , Nay H3808 NADV ; but H3588 CONJ whom H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS , and this H2088 D-PMS people H5971 , and all H3605 W-CMS the men H376 NMS of Israel H3478 , choose H977 , his will I be H1961 VQY1MS , and with H854 him will I abide H3427 .

20 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS Absalom H53 to H413 PREP Ahithophel H302 , Give H3051 VQI2MP counsel H6098 NFS among you what H4100 IGAT we shall do H6213 .
21 And Ahithophel H302 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Absalom H53 , Go H935 VQFC in unto H413 PREP thy father H1 NMS \'s concubines H6370 , which H834 RPRO he hath left H5117 to keep H8104 the house H1004 ; and all H3605 NMS Israel H3478 shall hear H8085 that H3588 CONJ thou art abhorred H887 of H854 PREP thy father H1 NMS : then shall the hands H3027 CFD of all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO are with H854 PART-2FS thee be strong H2388 .

23 And the counsel H6098 W-CFS of Ahithophel H302 , which H834 RPRO he counseled H3289 in those H1992 D-PPRO-3MP days H3117 BD-NMP , was as H834 RPRO if a man H376 had inquired H7592 at the oracle H1697 of God H430 D-EDP : so H3651 ADV was all H3605 NMS the counsel H6098 CFS of Ahithophel H302 both H1571 CONJ with David H1732 L-NAME and H1571 CONJ with Absalom H53 .
