1 যিহূদার রাজা যখন যিহোয়াকীম তখন যিরমিয়র কাছে প্রভুর বার্তা এলো| যিহোয়াকীম ছিলেন য়োসিযের পুত্র| এই হল প্রভুর বার্তা:

2 “যিরমিয়, যাও রেখবীয পরিবারকে মন্দিরের পাশের ঘরগুলির কোন একটি ঘরে আসবার জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানিয়ে এসো| তাদের দ্রাক্ষারস পানের প্রস্তাব দাও|”

3 সুতরাং আমি (যিরমিয়) যাসিনিয়ের কাছে গিয়েছিলাম| যাসিনিয ছিল যিরমিয়নামক এক ব্যক্তির পুত্র এবং হবত্সিনিয়ের পৌত্র| আমি যাসিনিযর অন্য ভাইদের এবং তার সব ছেলেদের রেখবীয পরিবারের সকল সদস্যদের পেয়েছিলাম|

5 তখন আমি (যিরমিয়) রেখবীয পরিবারের আমন্ত্রিত সদস্যদের সামনে দ্রাক্ষারসের পাত্র রেখে বললাম, “সামান্য দ্রাক্ষারস পান করুন|”

6 কিন্তু তারা উত্তর দিল, “আমরা কখনও দ্রাক্ষারস পান করি না, কারণ আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ রেখবীয পুত্র য়িহোনাদব আমাদের এই নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলেন: ‘তোমরা এবং তোমাদের উত্তরপুরুষ কেউ কখনো দ্রাক্ষারস পান করবে না|

7 তোমরা ঘরবাড়ি তৈরী করবে না,ফসল বুনবে না, দ্রাক্ষার চাষ করবে না| তোমরা কেবল তাঁবুতে থাকবে| তোমরা যদি এগুলি মেনে চলো তাহলে তোমরা যাযাবরের মতো স্থান পরিবর্তন করে দীর্ঘদিন জীবিত থাকবে|’

8 তাই আমরা রেখবীয পরিবারের সদস্যরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ য়িহোনাদবের নির্দেশ অক্ষরে অক্ষরে মেনে চলি| আমরা কেউ দ্রাক্ষারস পান করি না| আমাদের স্ত্রী, ছেলেমেযে কেউ দ্রাক্ষারস পান করে না|

9 আমরা কখনও বাস করার জন্য বাড়ি তৈরী করি না| দ্রাক্ষার চাষ করি না, ফসল ফলানোর জন্য বীজ বুনি না|

10 আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ য়িহোনাদবের নির্দেশ পালন করেছি এবং আমরা তাঁবুতেই বসবাস করেছি|

11 কিন্তু যখন নবূখদ্রিত্‌সর, বাবিলের রাজা যিহূদা আক্রমণ করেছিল, আমরা বলেছিলাম, ‘বাবিলীয এবং আর্মেনীয সৈন্যদের হাত থেকে রক্ষা পাবার জন্য আমাদের জেরুশালেম শহরে যাওয়া যাক|’ তাই আমরা জেরুশালেমে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিলাম এবং তারপর থেকে ওখানেই থেকেছি|”

12 তখন প্রভুর বার্তা এলো যিরমিয়র কাছে|

13 প্রভু সর্বশক্তিমান ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বললেন: “যিরমিয় যাও| যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের লোকদের গিয়ে বলো: তোমাদের শিক্ষা হওয়া উচিত্‌ এবং তোমরা আমার বার্তা পালন করবে|”

14 “রেখব তার উত্তরপুরুষদের নির্দেশ দিয়েছিল দ্রাক্ষারস পান না করতে| এবং সেই নির্দেশ আজও রেখবীয পরিবারের সদস্যরা পালন করে আসছে| কিন্তু আমি প্রভু এবং আমি যিহূদার লোকরা, তোমাদের বারবার বার্তা পাঠানো সত্ত্বেও তোমরা আমাকে অগ্রাহ্য করেছ এবং অমান্য করেছ|

15 যিহূদা ও ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের কাছে বারবার আমার অনুচর এবং ভাব্বাদীদের পাঠিয়েছি| তারা তোমাদের বলেছে: ‘অসত্‌ হওয়া বন্ধ করো| ভালো কাজ কর| অন্য দেবতাদের অনুসরণ করো না ও তাদের সেবা করো না| তোমরা যদি আমাকে মেনে চলতে তাহলে তোমরা এই দেশে বসবাস করতে পারতে, য়ে দেশ তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষকে আমি দিয়েছিলাম|’ কিন্তু তোমরা আমার বার্তাকে পাত্তাই দিলে না|

16 য়িহোনাদবের নির্দেশ তার উত্তরপুরুষরা মেনে চলেছিল কিন্তু যিহূদার লোকরা আমাকে মান্য করেনি|”

17 তাই প্রভু সর্বশক্তিমান, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বললেন: “আমি বলেছিলাম যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমে লোকেদের ওপর বহু মারাত্মক ঘটনা ঘটবে| শীঘ্রই আমি সেগুলি ঘটাবো কারণ আমি ওই লোকদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছিলাম কিন্তু তারা আমার কথা শুনতে অস্বীকার করেছিল| আমি তাদের চিত্কার করে ডেকেছিলাম কিন্তু তারা সাড়া দেয়নি|”

18 যিরমিয়, রেখবীয পরিবারকে বলেছিল, “সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বলেছেন: ‘তোমরা তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষ য়িহোনাদবের সব নির্দেশ মেনে চলেছো| তোমরা য়িহোনাদবের শিক্ষাকেই অনুসরণ করে গিয়েছো|

19 তাই সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভু ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বলেছেন সেখানে সর্বদাই রেখবের পুত্র য়িহোনাদবের উত্তরপুরুষদের কোন এক জন আমাকে সেবা করবার জন্য আমার সামনে থাকবে|”‘

2 Go ^H1980 ^VQFA unto ^H413 ^PREP the house ^H1004 ^CMS of the Rechabites ^H7397 , and speak unto ^H1696 them , and bring ^H935 them into the house ^H1004 ^CMS of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , into ^H413 ^PREP one ^H259 ^OFS of the chambers ^H3957 , and give them wine ^H3196 to drink ^H8248 .

3 Then I took ^H3947 Jaazaniah ^H2970 the son ^H1121 of Jeremiah ^H3414 , the son ^H1121 ^CMP-3MS of Habaziniah ^H2262 , and his brethren ^H251 ^NMP-3MS , and all ^H3605 ^NMS his sons ^H1121 , and the whole ^H3605 ^NMS house ^H1004 ^CMS of the Rechabites ^H7397 ;

6 But they said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MP , We will drink ^H8354 no ^H3808 ^NADV wine ^H3196 : for ^H3588 ^CONJ Jonadab ^H3122 the son ^H1121 of Rechab ^H7394 our father ^H1 commanded ^H6680 ^VPQ3MS us , saying ^H559 ^L-VQFC , Ye shall drink ^H8354 no ^H3808 ^NADV wine ^H3196 ^NMS , neither ye ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS , nor your sons ^H1121 forever ^H5704 ^PREP :

7 Neither ^H3808 ^ADV shall ye build ^H1129 house ^H1004 , nor ^H3808 ^ADV sow ^H2232 seed ^H2233 , nor ^H3808 ^ADV plant ^H5193 vineyard ^H3754 ^W-NMS , nor ^H3808 ^W-NADV have ^H1961 ^VQY3MS any : but ^H3588 ^CONJ all ^H3605 ^NMS your days ^H3117 ye shall dwell ^H3427 in tents ^H168 ; that ^H4616 ^L-CONJ ye may live ^H2421 many ^H7227 ^AMP days ^H3117 ^NMP in ^PREP the land ^H127 ^D-NFS where ^H834 ^RPRO ye ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS be strangers ^H1481 .

9 Nor ^H1115 to build ^H1129 houses ^H1004 ^NMP for us to dwell ^H3427 in : neither ^H3808 ^NADV have ^H1961 ^VQY3MS we vineyard ^H3754 ^W-NMS , nor field ^H7704 , nor seed ^H2233 :

10 But we have dwelt ^H3427 in tents ^H168 , and have obeyed ^H8085 , and done ^H6213 according to all ^H3605 ^K-NMS that ^H834 ^RPRO Jonadab ^H3122 our father ^H1 commanded ^H6680 us .

11 But it came to pass ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS , when Nebuchadnezzar ^H5019 king ^H4428 ^NMS of Babylon ^H894 ^LFS came up ^H5927 ^B-CFP into ^H413 ^PREP the land ^H776 ^D-GFS , that we said ^H559 , Come ^H935 , and let us go ^H935 to Jerusalem ^H3389 for fear ^H6440 ^M-CMP of the army ^H2428 of the Chaldeans ^H3778 , and for fear ^H6440 of the army ^H2428 of the Syrians ^H758 ^EMS : so we dwell ^H3427 at Jerusalem ^H3389 .

13 Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS of hosts ^H6635 , the God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 ; Go ^H1980 and tell ^H559 the men ^H376 ^L-NMS of Judah ^H3063 and the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 , Will ye not ^H3808 ^D-NPAR receive ^H3947 instruction ^H4148 to hearken ^H8085 to ^H413 ^PREP my words ^H1697 ^CMP-1MS ? saith ^H5002 the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS .

16 Because ^H3588 ^CONJ the sons ^H1121 of Jonadab ^H3082 the son ^H1121 of Rechab ^H7394 have performed ^H6965 the commandment ^H4687 ^CFS of their father ^H1 ^CMS-3MP , which ^H834 ^RPRO he commanded ^H6680 them ; but this ^H2088 ^D-PMS people ^H5971 hath not ^H3808 ^NADV hearkened ^H8085 ^VQQ3MP unto ^H413 me :

17 Therefore ^H3651 ^L-ADV thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS God ^H430 ^CDP of hosts ^H6635 , the God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 ; Behold ^H2009 , I will bring ^H935 ^VHPMS upon ^H413 ^PREP Judah ^H3063 and upon ^H413 ^PREP all ^H3605 ^NMS the inhabitants ^H3427 of Jerusalem ^H3389 all ^H3605 ^NMS the evil ^H7451 ^D-AFS that ^H834 ^RPRO I have pronounced ^H1696 ^VPQ1MS against ^H5921 ^PREP-3MP them : because ^H3282 ^ADV I have spoken ^H1696 ^VPQ1MS unto ^H413 ^PREP them , but they have not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR heard ^H8085 ; and I have called ^H7121 unto them , but they have not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR answered ^H6030 .

18 And Jeremiah ^H3414 said ^H559 ^VQQ3MS unto the house ^H1004 of the Rechabites ^H7397 , Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS of hosts ^H6635 , the God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 ; Because ^H3283 ye have obeyed ^H8085 the commandment ^H4687 ^CFS of Jonadab ^H3082 your father ^H1 , and kept ^H8104 all ^H3605 ^NMS his precepts ^H4687 , and done ^H6213 according unto all ^H3605 ^NMS that ^H834 ^RPRO he hath commanded ^H6680 ^VPQ3MS you :

19 Therefore ^H3651 ^L-ADV thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS of hosts ^H6635 , the God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 ; Jonadab ^H3122 the son ^H1121 of Rechab ^H7394 shall not ^H3808 ^ADV want ^H3772 ^VNI3MS a man ^H376 ^NMS to stand ^H5975 before ^H6440 ^L-CMP me forever ^H3117 ^D-NMP .
