1 જો યહોવા ઘર ન બાંધે તો; બાંધનારાઓનો શ્રમ વ્યર્થ છે, અને જો યહોવા નગરનું રક્ષણ ન કરે તો; ચોકીદારનો ચોકી પહેરો સમયની બરબાદી છે!
2 જીવવા માટે વહેલી સવારથી મોડી રાત સુધી સખત પરિશ્રમ કરવાનો કોઇ અર્થ નથી, કારણકે તે તેમને ચાહનારા પ્રત્યેકને આરામ આપે છે.
3 બાળકો યહોવા પાસેથી મળેલી ભેટ છે. તેઓ માતાના દેહમાંથી મળેલું ઇનામ છે.
4 યુવાવસ્થામાંના પુત્રો તો; બળવાન વીર યોદ્ધાનાં હાથમાંના તીક્ષ્ણ બાણ જેવા છે.
5 જે માણસનો ભાથો તેનાથી ભરેલો છે તેને ધન્ય છે. જ્યારે તે નગરનાં દરવાજે શત્રુઓ સામે લડશે ત્યારે તે પરાજ્જિત નહિ થાય. કારણકે તેનાં પુત્રો તેનો બચાવ કરશે.
