1 These also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai.

2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron; Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests which were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

4 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.

5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.

7 And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.

8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

12 And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn that openeth the matrix among the children of Israel: therefore the Levites shall be mine;

13 Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.

14 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers, by their families: every male from a month old and upward shalt thou number them.

16 And Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded.

17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families; Libni, and Shimei.

19 And the sons of Kohath by their families; Amram, and Izehar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

20 And the sons of Merari by their families; Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.

21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimites: these are the families of the Gershonites.

22 Those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those that were numbered of them were seven thousand and five hundred.

23 The families of the Gershonites shall pitch behind the tabernacle westward.

24 And the chief of the house of the father of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.

25 And the charge of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, the covering thereof, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,

26 And the hangings of the court, and the curtain for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and by the altar round about, and the cords of it for all the service thereof.

27 And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.

28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.

29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.

30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.

31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

32 And Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be chief over the chief of the Levites, and have the oversight of them that keep the charge of the sanctuary.

33 Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites: these are the families of Merari.

34 And those that were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand and two hundred.

35 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail: these shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle northward.

36 And under the custody and charge of the sons of Merari shall be the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and the sockets thereof, and all the vessels thereof, and all that serveth thereto,

37 And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords.

38 But those that encamp before the tabernacle toward the east, even before the tabernacle of the congregation eastward, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the charge of the sanctuary for the charge of the children of Israel; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

39 All that were numbered of the Levites, which Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, throughout their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty and two thousand.

40 And the LORD said unto Moses, Number all the firstborn of the males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

41 And thou shalt take the Levites for me (I am the LORD) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the children of Israel.

42 And Moses numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

43 And all the firstborn males by the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those that were numbered of them, were twenty and two thousand two hundred and threescore and thirteen.

44 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

45 Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD.

46 And for those that are to be redeemed of the two hundred and threescore and thirteen of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are more than the Levites;

47 Thou shalt even take five shekels apiece by the poll, after the shekel of the sanctuary shalt thou take them: (the shekel is twenty gerahs:)

48 And thou shalt give the money, wherewith the odd number of them is to be redeemed, unto Aaron and to his sons.

49 And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites:

50 Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

51 And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

5 And the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS spoke ^H1696 ^W-VPY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP Moses ^H4872 , saying ^H559 ,

9 And thou shalt give ^H5414 the Levites ^H3881 unto Aaron ^H175 and to his sons ^H1121 : they ^H1992 ^PPRO-3MP are wholly given ^H5414 unto him out of the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 ^LMS .

10 And thou shalt appoint ^H6485 Aaron ^H175 and his sons ^H1121 ^CMP-3MS , and they shall wait on their priest\'s office ^H3550 : and the stranger ^H2114 that cometh nigh ^H7131 shall be put to death ^H4191 .

11 And the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS spoke ^H1696 ^W-VPY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP Moses ^H4872 , saying ^H559 ,

12 And I ^H589 ^W-PPRO-1MS , behold ^H2009 ^IJEC , I have taken ^H3947 the Levites ^H3881 from among ^H8432 the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 instead of ^H8478 ^NMS all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS that openeth ^H6363 the matrix ^H7358 ^NMS among the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 : therefore the Levites ^H3881 shall be ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS mine ;

13 Because ^H3588 ^CONJ all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS are mine ; for on the day ^H3117 ^B-NMS that I smote ^H5221 all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS in the land ^H776 ^B-GFS of Egypt ^H4714 ^EFS I hallowed ^H6942 unto me all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS in Israel ^H3478 , both man ^H120 ^M-NMS and ^H5704 ^PREP beast ^H929 ^NFS : mine shall they be ^H1961 ^VQY3MP : I ^H589 ^PPRO-1MS am the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS .

15 Number ^H6485 the children ^H1121 of Levi ^H3878 after the house ^H1004 of their fathers ^H1 , by their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP : every ^H3605 ^NMS male ^H2145 ^NMS from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 shalt thou number ^H6485 them .

16 And Moses ^H4872 numbered ^H6485 them according to ^H5921 ^PREP the word ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , as ^H834 ^K-RPRO he was commanded ^H6680 .

17 And these ^H428 ^PMP were ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MP the sons ^H1121 of Levi ^H3878 by their names ^H8034 ; Gershon ^H1648 , and Kohath ^H6955 , and Merari ^H4847 .

18 And these ^H428 ^W-PMP are the names ^H8034 of the sons ^H1121 ^CMP of Gershon ^H1648 by their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP ; Libni ^H3845 , and Shimei ^H8096 .

19 And the sons ^H1121 ^W-CMP of Kohath ^H6955 by their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP ; Amram ^H6019 , and Izehar ^H3324 , Hebron ^H2275 , and Uzziel ^H5816 .

20 And the sons ^H1121 ^W-CMP of Merari ^H4847 by their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP ; Mahli ^H4249 , and Mushi ^H4187 . These ^H428 ^PMP are the families ^H4940 ^CFP of the Levites ^H3881 according to the house ^H1004 of their fathers ^H1 .

21 Of Gershon ^H1648 was the family ^H4940 of the Libnites ^H3846 , and the family ^H4940 of the Shimites ^H8097 : these ^H428 ^PMP are the families ^H4940 ^CFP of the Gershonites ^H1649 .

22 Those that were numbered ^H6485 of them , according to the number ^H4557 ^B-CMS of all ^H3605 ^NMS the males ^H2145 ^NMS , from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , even those that were numbered ^H6485 of them were seven ^H7651 ^RMS thousand ^H505 ^MMP and five ^H2568 ^W-BFS hundred ^H3967 .

23 The families ^H4940 ^CFP of the Gershonites ^H1649 shall pitch ^H2583 behind ^H310 ^PREP the tabernacle ^H4908 westward ^H3220 .

24 And the chief ^H5387 of the house ^H1004 of the father ^H1 ^NMS of the Gershonites ^H1649 shall be Eliasaph ^H460 the son ^H1121 of Lael ^H3815 .

25 And the charge ^H4931 of the sons ^H1121 of Gershon ^H1647 in the tabernacle ^H168 of the congregation ^H4150 ^NMS shall be the tabernacle ^H4908 , and the tent ^H168 , the covering ^H4372 thereof , and the hanging ^H4539 for the door ^H6607 ^CMS of the tabernacle ^H168 ^NMS of the congregation ^H4150 ,

26 And the hangings ^H7050 of the court ^H2691 , and the curtain ^H4539 for the door ^H6607 ^CMS of the court ^H2691 , which ^H834 ^RPRO is by ^H5921 ^PREP the tabernacle ^H4908 , and by ^H5921 ^PREP the altar ^H4196 ^D-NMS round about ^H5439 ^ADV , and the cords ^H4340 of it for all ^H3605 the service ^H5656 thereof .

27 And of Kohath ^H6955 was the family ^H4940 of the Amramites ^H6020 , and the family ^H4940 of the Izeharites ^H3325 , and the family ^H4940 of the Hebronites ^H2276 , and the family ^H4940 of the Uzzielites ^H5817 : these ^H428 ^PMP are the families ^H4940 ^CFP of the Kohathites ^H6956 .

28 In the number ^H4557 ^B-CMS of all ^H3605 ^NMS the males ^H2145 ^NMS , from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , were eight ^H8083 thousand ^H505 ^MMP and six ^H8337 ^W-RFS hundred ^H3967 ^BFP , keeping ^H8104 the charge ^H4931 of the sanctuary ^H6944 .

29 The families ^H4940 ^CFP of the sons ^H1121 of Kohath ^H6955 shall pitch ^H2583 on ^H5921 ^PREP the side ^H3409 of the tabernacle ^H4908 southward ^H8486 .

30 And the chief ^H5387 of the house ^H1004 of the father ^H1 ^NMS of the families ^H4940 of the Kohathites ^H6956 shall be Elizaphan ^H469 the son ^H1121 of Uzziel ^H5816 .

31 And their charge ^H4931 shall be the ark ^H727 , and the table ^H7979 , and the candlestick ^H4501 , and the altars ^H4196 , and the vessels ^H3627 of the sanctuary ^H6944 wherewith ^H834 ^RPRO they minister ^H8334 , and the hanging ^H4539 , and all ^H3605 ^W-CMS the service ^H5656 thereof .

32 And Eleazar ^H499 the son ^H1121 of Aaron ^H175 the priest ^H3548 shall be chief ^H5387 over the chief ^H5387 of the Levites ^H3881 , and have the oversight ^H6486 of them that keep ^H8104 the charge ^H4931 of the sanctuary ^H6944 .

33 Of Merari ^H4847 was the family ^H4940 of the Mahlites ^H4250 , and the family ^H4940 of the Mushites ^H4188 : these ^H428 ^PMP are the families ^H4940 ^CFP of Merari ^H4847 .

34 And those that were numbered ^H6485 of them , according to the number ^H4557 ^B-CMS of all ^H3605 ^NMS the males ^H2145 ^NMS , from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , were six ^H8337 thousand ^H505 ^MMP and two hundred ^H3967 .

35 And the chief ^H5387 of the house ^H1004 of the father ^H1 ^NMS of the families ^H4940 of Merari ^H4847 was Zuriel ^H6700 the son ^H1121 of Abihail ^H32 : these shall pitch ^H2583 on ^H5921 ^PREP the side ^H3409 of the tabernacle ^H4908 northward ^H6828 .

36 And under the custody ^H6486 and charge ^H4931 of the sons ^H1121 of Merari ^H4847 shall be the boards ^H7175 of the tabernacle ^H4908 , and the bars ^H1280 thereof , and the pillars ^H5982 thereof , and the sockets ^H134 thereof , and all ^H3605 ^W-CMS the vessels ^H3627 thereof , and all ^H3605 ^W-CMS that serveth ^H5656 thereto ,

37 And the pillars ^H5982 of the court ^H2691 round about ^H5439 ^ADV , and their sockets ^H134 , and their pins ^H3489 , and their cords ^H4340 .

38 But those that encamp ^H2583 before ^H6440 ^L-CMP the tabernacle ^H4908 toward the east ^H6924 , even before ^H6440 ^L-CMP the tabernacle ^H168 of the congregation ^H4150 ^NMS eastward ^H4217 , shall be Moses ^H4872 , and Aaron ^H175 and his sons ^H1121 ^W-CMP-3MS , keeping ^H8104 the charge ^H4931 of the sanctuary ^H4720 for the charge ^H4931 of the children ^H1121 ^W-CMP-3MS of Israel ^H3478 ; and the stranger ^H2114 that cometh nigh ^H7131 shall be put to death ^H4191 .

39 All ^H3605 ^NMS that were numbered ^H6485 of the Levites ^H3881 , which ^H834 ^RPRO Moses ^H4872 and Aaron ^H175 numbered ^H6485 ^VQQ3MS at ^H5921 ^PREP the commandment ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , throughout their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP , all ^H3605 ^NMS the males ^H2145 ^NMS from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , were twenty ^H6242 ^W-MMP and two ^H8147 ^ONUM thousand ^H505 ^MMS .

40 And the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP Moses ^H4872 , Number ^H6485 all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 of the males ^H2145 ^NMS of the children ^H1121 ^L-CMP of Israel ^H3478 from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , and take ^H5375 the number ^H4557 ^CMS of their names ^H8034 .

41 And thou shalt take ^H3947 the Levites ^H3881 for ^PPRO-1MS me ^H589 ^PPRO-1MS (I am the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS ) instead of ^H8478 ^NMS all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 among the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 ; and the cattle ^H929 of the Levites ^H3881 instead of ^H8478 ^NMS all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstlings ^H1060 ^CMS among the cattle ^H929 of the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 ^LMS .

42 And Moses ^H4872 numbered ^H6485 , as ^H834 ^K-RPRO the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS commanded ^H6680 ^VPQ3MS him , all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 among the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 ^LMS .

43 And all ^H3605 ^CMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS males ^H2145 ^NMS by the number ^H4557 ^B-CMS of names ^H8034 ^CFP , from a month ^H2320 old ^H1121 and upward ^H4605 , of those that were numbered ^H6485 of them , were ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS twenty ^H6242 ^W-MMP and two ^H8147 ^ONUM thousand ^H505 ^W-BMS two hundred ^H3967 and threescore and thirteen ^H7969 ^NFS .

44 And the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS spoke ^H1696 ^W-VPY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP Moses ^H4872 , saying ^H559 ,

45 Take ^H3947 ^VQI2MS the Levites ^H3881 instead of ^H8478 ^NMS all ^H3605 ^NMS the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS among the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 , and the cattle ^H929 of the Levites ^H3881 instead of ^H8478 ^NMS their cattle ^H929 ; and the Levites ^H3881 shall be ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS mine : I ^H589 ^PPRO-1MS am the LORD ^H3068 ^NAME-4MS .

46 And for those that are to be redeemed ^H6299 of the two hundred ^H3967 and threescore and thirteen ^H7969 of the firstborn ^H1060 of the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 ^LMS , which are more ^H5736 than ^H5921 ^PREP the Levites ^H3881 ;

47 Thou shalt even take ^H3947 five shekels apiece ^H2568 by the poll ^H1538 , after the shekel ^H8255 of the sanctuary ^H6944 shalt thou take ^H3947 them : (the shekel ^H8255 is twenty ^H6242 gerahs ^H1626 : )

48 And thou shalt give ^H5414 the money ^H3701 , wherewith the odd number ^H5736 of them is to be redeemed ^H6299 , unto Aaron ^H175 and to his sons ^H1121 .

49 And Moses ^H4872 took ^H3947 ^W-VQY3MS the redemption ^H6306 money ^H3701 ^NMS of them that were over ^H5736 and above ^H5921 ^PREP them that were redeemed ^H6306 by the Levites ^H3881 :

50 Of the firstborn ^H1060 ^CMS of the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 took ^H3947 ^VQQ3MS he the money ^H3701 ; a thousand ^H505 three ^H7969 ^W-BFS hundred ^H3967 ^BFP and threescore ^H8346 ^W-MMP and five ^H2568 shekels , after the shekel ^H8255 of the sanctuary ^H6944 :

51 And Moses ^H4872 gave ^H5414 ^W-VQQ3MS the money ^H3701 ^NMS of them that were redeemed ^H6306 unto Aaron ^H175 and to his sons ^H1121 , according to ^H5921 ^PREP the word ^H6310 of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS , as ^H834 ^K-RPRO the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS commanded ^H6680 ^VPQ3MS Moses ^H4872 .
