1 वसंत ऋतूत पावसासाठी परमेश्वराची प्रार्थना करा. देव वीज पाठवील आणि पाऊस पडेल. देव प्रत्येकाच्या शेतातील पीक वाढवील.
2 लोक, भविष्य जाण्यासाठी, त्यांच्याकडील लहान मूर्तीचा व जादूटोण्याचा उपयोग करतात. पण ते सर्व व्यर्थ आहे. त्यांना दृष्टांन्त होतात आणि ते त्यांना पडलेल्या स्वप्नांबद्दल सांगतात. पण ते सर्व केवळ अर्थहीन थोतांड आहे. लोकांची स्थिती मदतीसाठी रडत सैरभैर फिरणाऱ्या मेंढ्यांसारखी आहे. पण त्यांना वळविणारा कोणीही मेंढपाळ नाही.
3 परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “मी मेंढपाळांवर (नेत्यांवर) फार रागावलो आहे, माझ्या मेंढरांच्या (लोकांच्या) ह्या स्थितीला मी त्यांना जबाबदार धरले आहे.” (यहूदातील लोक म्हणजे देवाच्या मेंढ्यांचा कळपच. सर्व शक्तिमान परमेश्वर ह्या कळपाची खरोखरच काळजी वाहतो. एखादा सैनिक जशी आपल्या सुंदर घोड्याची काळजी घेतो, तशीच काळजी देव ह्या माणसांची घेतो.)
4 “यहूदातून कूच करणाऱ्या सैन्याबरोबरच कोनशिला, तंबूच्या खुंट्या, युध्दात परावयाची धनुष्ये हे सर्व येईल.
5 ते आपल्या शत्रूचा पराभव करतील. रस्त्यांतून चिखल तुडवीत जावे, तसे ते शत्रूला तुडवीत जातील. परमेश्वर त्यांच्याबाजूला असल्याने ते लढाई करतील आणि शत्रूच्या घोडदळाचासुध्दा पराभव करतील.
6 मी यहूद्यांच्या लोकांना सामर्थ्यवान बनवीन. योसेफच्या वंशाला युध्द जिंकण्यास साहाय्य करीन. आणि त्यांना सुरक्षितपणे व सुखरुप परत आणीन. त्यांचे सांत्वन करीन आणि मी त्यांचा कधीच त्याग केला नव्हता, असेच त्यांच्याशी वागेन. मी परमेश्वर त्यांचा देव आहे व त्यांना मदत करीन.
7 भरपूर मद्य घेतलेल्या सैनिकांप्रमाणे एफ्राईमचे लोक खूष होतील. लहान मुले आनंदून जातील. तेही खुष होतील. परमेश्वराबरोबरचा त्यांचा वेळ आनंदात जाईल.
8 “मी त्यांना शीळ वाजवून एकत्र बोलवीन. मी त्यांना खरोखर वाचवीन. त्यांची संख्या खूप वाढेल.
9 होय! मी माझ्या लोकांना राष्ट्रां - राष्ट्रांत पांगवीत आलो आहे. पण त्या दुरदूरच्या ठिकाणीही ते माझे स्मरण ठेवतील. ते आणि त्यांची मुलेबाळे जगतील, वाचतील आणि परत येतील.
10 मी त्यांना मिसरमधून व अश्शूमधून परत आणीन मी त्यांना गिलादच्या भागात आणीन. पण तेथे पुरेशी जागा नसल्याने मी त्यांना लबानोनमध्ये राहू देईन.”
11 पूर्वी जसे देवाने आपल्या लोकांना मिसरच्या बाहेर आणले तसेच तो आता आणील. तेव्हा देवाने समुद्राच्या लाटांवर प्रहार करुन समुद्र दुभंगाविला होता आणि लोक तो संकटाचा समुद्र पार करुन आले होते. आता परमेश्वर नद्यांचे पाणी आटवील. तो अश्शूरचे गर्वहरण करील आणि मिसरची सत्ता नष्ट करील.
12 परमेश्वर त्याच्या लोकांना सामर्थ्यवान करील ते देवासाठी व त्याच्या नावासाठी जगातील. परमेश्वरानेच ह्या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.

3 Mine anger H639 CMS-1MS was kindled H2734 VQQ3MS against H5921 PREP the shepherds H7462 , and I punished H6485 the goats H6260 : for H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS of hosts H6635 hath visited H6485 VQQ3MS his flock H5739 the house H1004 CMS of Judah H3063 , and hath made H7760 them as his goodly H1935 horse H5483 in the battle H4421 .
4 Out of H4480 M-PREP-3MS him came forth H3318 VQY3MS the corner H6438 , out of H4480 M-PREP-3MS him the nail H3489 , out of H4480 M-PREP-3MS him the battle H4421 NFS bow H7198 CFS , out of H4480 M-PREP-3MS him every H3605 CMS oppressor H5065 VQPMS together H3162 ADV .
5 And they shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS as mighty H1368 men , which tread down H947 their enemies in the mire H2916 of the streets H2351 in the battle H4421 : and they shall fight H3898 , because H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS is with H5973 PREP-3MP them , and the riders H7392 on horses H5483 shall be confounded H954 .
6 And I will strengthen H1396 the house H1004 CMS of Judah H3063 , and I will save H3467 the house H1004 CMS of Joseph H3130 , and I will bring them again H7725 to place them ; for H3588 CONJ I have mercy upon H7355 them : and they shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS as though H834 K-RPRO I had not H3808 ADV cast them off H2186 : for H3588 CONJ I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS their God H430 , and will hear H6030 them .
7 And they of Ephraim H669 shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS like a mighty H1368 man , and their heart H3820 CMS-3MP shall rejoice H8055 as through H3644 PREP wine H3196 : yea , their children H1121 shall see H7200 VQY3MP it , and be glad H8055 ; their heart H3820 CMS-3MP shall rejoice H1523 in the LORD H3068 .
8 I will hiss H8319 for them , and gather H6908 them ; for H3588 CONJ I have redeemed H6299 them : and they shall increase H7235 W-VQQ3MP as H3644 PREP they have increased H7235 .
9 And I will sow H2232 them among the people H5971 : and they shall remember H2142 me in far countries H4801 ; and they shall live H2421 with H854 PREP their children H1121 , and turn again H7725 .

11 And he shall pass H5674 through the sea H3220 BD-NMS with affliction H6869 NFS , and shall smite H5221 the waves H1530 in the sea H3220 , and all H3605 NMS the deeps H4688 of the river H2975 shall dry up H3001 : and the pride H1347 CMS of Assyria H804 GFS shall be brought down H3381 , and the scepter H7626 of Egypt H4714 EFS shall depart away H5493 .
12 And I will strengthen H1396 them in the LORD H3068 ; and they shall walk up and down H1980 in his name H8034 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
