Joshua 19:20 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 The second allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Simeon. Their homeland was surrounded by Judah's territory.

2 Simeon's homeland included Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah,

3 Hazar-shual, Balah, Ezem,

4 Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,

5 Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah,

6 Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen-- thirteen towns with their surrounding villages.

7 It also included Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan-- four towns with their villages,

8 including all the surrounding villages as far south as Baalath-beer (also known as Ramah of the Negev). This was the homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Simeon.

9 Their allocation of land came from part of what had been given to Judah because Judah's territory was too large for them. So the tribe of Simeon received an allocation within the territory of Judah.

10 The third allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Zebulun. The boundary of Zebulun's homeland started at Sarid.

11 From there it went west, going past Maralah, touching Dabbesheth, and proceeding to the brook east of Jokneam.

12 In the other direction, the boundary went east from Sarid to the border of Kisloth-tabor, and from there to Daberath and up to Japhia.

13 Then it continued east to Gath-hepher, Eth-kazin, and Rimmon and turned toward Neah.

14 The northern boundary of Zebulun passed Hannathon and ended at the valley of Iphtah-el.

15 The towns in these areas included Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem-- twelve towns with their surrounding villages.

16 The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Zebulun included these towns and their surrounding villages.

17 The fourth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Issachar.

18 Its boundaries included the following towns: Jezreel, Kesulloth, Shunem,

19 Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,

20 Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,

21 Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez.

22 The boundary also touched Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, ending at the Jordan River-- sixteen towns with their surrounding villages.

23 The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Issachar included these towns and their surrounding villages.

24 The fifth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Asher.

25 Its boundaries included these towns: Helkath, Hali, Beten, Acshaph,

26 Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal. The boundary on the west touched Carmel and Shihor-libnath,

27 then it turned east toward Beth-dagon, and ran as far as Zebulun in the valley of Iphtah-el, going north to Beth-emek and Neiel. It then continued north to Cabul,

28 Abdon, Rehob, Hammon, Kanah, and as far as Greater Sidon.

29 Then the boundary turned toward Ramah and the fortified city of Tyre, where it turned toward Hosah and came to the Mediterranean Sea. The territory also included Mehebel, Aczib,

30 Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob-- twenty-two towns with their surrounding villages.

31 The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Asher included these towns and their surrounding villages.

32 The sixth allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Naphtali.

33 Its boundary ran from Heleph, from the oak at Zaanannim, and extended across to Adami-nekeb, Jabneel, and as far as Lakkum, ending at the Jordan River.

34 The western boundary ran past Aznoth-tabor, then to Hukkok, and touched the border of Zebulun in the south, the border of Asher on the west, and the Jordan River on the east.

35 The fortified towns included in this territory were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth,

36 Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,

37 Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor,

38 Yiron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh-- nineteen towns with their surrounding villages.

39 The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Naphtali included these towns and their surrounding villages.

40 The seventh allotment of land went to the clans of the tribe of Dan.

41 The land allocated as their homeland included the following towns: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh,

42 Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,

43 Elon, Timnah, Ekron,

44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,

45 Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon,

46 Me-jarkon, Rakkon, and the territory across from Joppa.

47 But the tribe of Dan had trouble taking possession of their land, so they attacked the town of Laish. They captured it, slaughtered its people, and settled there. They renamed the town Dan after their ancestor.

48 The homeland allocated to the clans of the tribe of Dan included these towns and their surrounding villages.

49 After all the land was divided among the tribes, the Israelites gave a piece of land to Joshua as his allocation.

50 For the LORD had said he could have any town he wanted. He chose Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He rebuilt the town and lived there.

51 These are the territories that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the tribal leaders allocated as grants of land to the tribes of Israel by casting sacred lots in the presence of the LORD at the entrance of the Tabernacle at Shiloh. So the division of the land was completed.

2 And they had ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS in their inheritance ^H5159 Beer ^H884 - sheba , or Sheba ^H7652 , and Moladah ^H4137 ,

3 And Hazarshual ^H2705 , and Balah ^H1088 , and Azem ^H6107 ,

4 And Eltolad ^H513 , and Bethul ^H1329 , and Hormah ^H2767 ,

5 And Ziklag ^H6860 , and Beth ^H1024 - marcaboth , and Hazar ^H2701 - susah ,

6 And Beth ^H1034 - lebaoth , and Sharuhen ^H8287 ; thirteen ^H7969 ^BFS cities ^H5892 ^GFP and their villages ^H2691 :

7 Ain ^H5871 , Remmon ^H7417 , and Ether ^H6281 , and Ashan ^H6228 ; four ^H702 ^MFS cities ^H5892 ^GFP and their villages ^H2691 :

8 And all ^H3605 ^W-CMS the villages ^H2691 that ^H834 ^RPRO were round about ^H5439 ^ADV these ^H428 ^D-DPRO-3MP cities ^H5892 to ^H5704 ^PREP Baalath ^H1192 - beer , Ramath ^H7418 of the south ^H5045 . This ^H2063 ^DPRO is the inheritance ^H5159 of the tribe ^H4294 of the children ^H1121 of Simeon ^H8095 according to their families ^H4940 .

9 Out of the portion ^H2256 of the children ^H1121 of Judah ^H3063 was the inheritance ^H5159 of the children ^H1121 of Simeon ^H8095 : for ^H3588 ^CONJ the part ^H2506 ^CMS of the children ^H1121 of Judah ^H3063 was ^H1961 ^VQQ3MS too much ^H7227 ^AMS for them ^H4480 : therefore the children ^H1121 of Simeon ^H8095 had their inheritance ^H5157 within ^H8432 ^B-NMS the inheritance ^H5159 of them .

10 And the third ^H7992 ^D-ONUM lot ^H1486 ^D-NMS came up ^H5927 ^W-VHY3MS for the children ^H1121 ^L-CMP of Zebulun ^H2074 according to their families ^H4940 ^L-CFP-3MP : and the border ^H1366 ^CMS of their inheritance ^H5159 was ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS unto ^H5704 ^PREP Sarid ^H8301 :

11 And their border ^H1366 went up ^H5927 toward the sea ^H3220 , and Maralah ^H4831 , and reached ^H6293 to Dabbasheth ^H1708 , and reached ^H6293 to ^H413 ^PREP the river ^H5158 that ^H834 ^RPRO is before ^H5921 ^PREP Jokneam ^H3362 ;

12 And turned ^H7725 ^W-VQQ3MS from Sarid ^H8301 eastward ^H6924 toward the sunrising ^H4217 unto ^H5921 ^PREP the border ^H1366 ^CMS of Chisloth ^H3696 - tabor , and then goeth out ^H3318 to ^H413 ^PREP Daberath ^H1705 , and goeth up ^H5927 to Japhia ^H3309 ,

14 And the border ^H1366 compasseth ^H5437 it on the north side ^H6828 to Hannathon ^H2615 : and the outgoings ^H8444 thereof are ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS in the valley ^H1516 of Jipthah ^H3317 - el :

15 And Kattath ^H7005 , and Nahallal ^H5096 , and Shimron ^H8110 , and Idalah ^H3030 , and Bethlehem ^H1035 : twelve ^H8147 ^MFS cities ^H5892 ^GFP with their villages ^H2691 .

16 This ^H2063 ^DPRO is the inheritance ^H5159 of the children ^H1121 of Zebulun ^H2074 according to their families ^H4940 , these ^H428 ^D-DPRO-3MP cities ^H5892 with their villages ^H2691 .

17 And the fourth ^H7243 ^D-ONUM lot ^H1486 ^D-NMS came out ^H3318 ^VQQ3MS to Issachar ^H3485 , for the children ^H1121 ^L-CMP of Issachar ^H3485 according to their families ^H4940 .

18 And their border ^H1366 was ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS toward Jezreel ^H3157 , and Chesulloth ^H3694 , and Shunem ^H7766 ,

19 And Hapharaim ^H2663 , and Shion ^H7866 , and Anaharath ^H588 ,

20 And Rabbith ^H7245 , and Kishion ^H7191 , and Abez ^H77 ,

21 And Remeth ^H7432 , and En ^H5873 - gannim , and En ^H5876 - haddah , and Beth ^H1048 - pazzez ;

22 And the coast ^H1366 reacheth ^H6293 to Tabor ^H8396 , and Shahazimah ^H7831 , and Beth ^H1053 - shemesh ; and the outgoings ^H8444 of their border ^H1366 were ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS at Jordan ^H3383 ^D-EFS : sixteen ^H8337 ^RFS cities ^H5892 ^GFP with their villages ^H2691 .

25 And their border ^H1366 was ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS Helkath ^H2520 , and Hali ^H2482 , and Beten ^H991 , and Achshaph ^H407 ,

26 And Alammelech ^H487 , and Amad ^H6008 , and Misheal ^H4861 ; and reacheth ^H6293 to Carmel ^H3760 westward ^H3220 , and to Shihor ^H7884 - libnath ;

27 And turneth ^H7725 ^W-VQQ3MS toward the sunrising ^H4217 to Beth ^H1016 - dagon , and reacheth ^H6293 to Zebulun ^H2074 , and to the valley ^H1516 of Jipthah ^H3317 - el toward the north side ^H6828 of Beth ^H1025 - emek , and Neiel ^H5272 , and goeth out ^H3318 to ^H413 ^PREP Cabul ^H3521 on the left hand ^H8040 ,

29 And then the coast ^H1366 turneth ^H7725 ^W-VQQ3MS to Ramah ^H7414 , and to ^H5704 ^W-PREP the strong ^H4013 city ^H5892 ^GFS Tyre ^H6865 ; and the coast ^H1366 turneth ^H7725 ^W-VQQ3MS to Hosah ^H2621 ; and the outgoings ^H8444 thereof are ^H1961 at the sea ^H3220 from the coast ^H2256 to Achzib ^H392 :

33 And their coast ^H1366 was ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS from Heleph ^H2501 , from Allon ^H436 to Zaanannim ^H6815 , and Adami ^H129 , Nekeb ^H5346 , and Jabneel ^H2995 , unto ^H5704 ^PREP Lakum ^H3946 ; and the outgoings ^H8444 thereof were ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS at Jordan ^H3383 :

42 And Shaalabbin ^H8169 , and Ajalon ^H357 , and Jethlah ^H3494 ,

43 And Elon ^H356 , and Thimnathah ^H8553 , and Ekron ^H6138 ,
