Romans 14:22 (YLT) Young's Literal Translation

1 And him who is weak in the faith receive ye -- not to determinations of reasonings;

2 one doth believe that he may eat all things -- and he who is weak doth eat herbs;

3 let not him who is eating despise him who is not eating: and let not him who is not eating judge him who is eating, for God did receive him.

4 Thou -- who art thou that art judging another's domestic? to his own master he doth stand or fall; and he shall be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.

5 One doth judge one day above another, and another doth judge every day alike; let each in his own mind be fully assured.

6 He who is regarding the day, to the Lord he doth regard it, and he who is not regarding the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He who is eating, to the Lord he doth eat, for he doth give thanks to God; and he who is not eating, to the Lord he doth not eat, and doth give thanks to God.

7 For none of us to himself doth live, and none to himself doth die;

8 for both, if we may live, to the Lord we live; if also we may die, to the Lord we die; both then if we may live, also if we may die, we are the Lord's;

9 for because of this Christ both died and rose again, and lived again, that both of dead and of living he may be Lord.

10 And thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? or again, thou, why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand at the tribunal of the Christ;

11 for it hath been written, `I live! saith the Lord -- to Me bow shall every knee, and every tongue shall confess to God;`

12 so, then, each of us concerning himself shall give reckoning to God;

13 no longer, therefore, may we judge one another, but this judge ye rather, not to put a stumbling-stone before the brother, or an offence.

14 I have known, and am persuaded, in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself, except to him who is reckoning anything to be unclean -- to that one it is unclean;

15 and if through victuals thy brother is grieved, no more dost thou walk according to love; do not with thy victuals destroy that one for whom Christ died.

16 Let not, then, your good be evil spoken of,

17 for the reign of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit;

18 for he who in these things is serving the Christ, is acceptable to God and approved of men.

19 So, then, the things of peace may we pursue, and the things of building up one another;

20 for the sake of victuals cast not down the work of God; all things, indeed, are pure, but evil is to the man who is eating through stumbling.

21 Right it is not to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor to do anything in which thy brother doth stumble, or is made to fall, or is weak.

22 Thou hast faith! to thyself have it before God; happy is he who is not judging himself in what he doth approve,

23 and he who is making a difference, if he may eat, hath been condemned, because it is not of faith; and all that is not of faith is sin.

3 Let not ^G3361 ^PRT-N him that eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAP-NSM despise ^G1848 ^V-PAM-3S him that eateth not ^G2068 ^V-PAP-ASM ; and ^G2532 ^CONJ let not ^G3361 ^PRT-N him which eateth not ^G2068 ^V-PAP-NSM judge ^G2919 ^V-PAM-3S him that eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAP-ASM : for ^G3588 ^T-NSM God ^G2316 ^N-NSM hath received ^G4355 ^V-2AMI-3S him ^G846 ^P-ASM .

4 Who ^G5101 ^I-NSM art ^G1488 ^V-PXI-2S thou ^G4771 ^P-2NS that judgest ^G2919 ^V-PAP-NSM another man ^G245 ^A-ASM \'s servant ^G3610 ^N-ASM ? to his own ^G2398 ^A-DSM master ^G2962 ^N-DSM he standeth ^G4739 ^V-PAI-3S or ^G2228 ^PRT falleth ^G4098 ^V-PAI-3S . Yea ^G1161 ^CONJ , he shall be holden up ^G2476 ^V-FPI-3S : for ^G3588 ^T-NSM God ^G2316 ^N-NSM is ^G2076 ^V-PXI-3S able ^G1415 ^A-NSM to make him stand ^G2476 ^V-AAN .

5 One man ^G3739 ^R-NSM esteemeth ^G2919 ^V-PAI-3S one day above another ^G2250 ^N-ASF : another ^G3739 ^R-NSM esteemeth ^G2919 ^V-PAI-3S every ^G3956 ^A-ASF day ^G2250 ^N-ASF alike . Let every man ^G1538 ^A-NSM be fully persuaded ^G4135 ^V-PPM-3S in ^G1722 ^PREP his own ^G2398 ^A-DSM mind ^G3563 ^N-DSM .

6 He that regardeth ^G5426 ^V-PAP-NSM the ^G3588 ^T-ASF day ^G2250 ^N-ASF , regardeth ^G5426 ^V-PAI-3S it unto the Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM ; and ^G2532 ^CONJ he that regardeth not ^G5426 ^V-PAP-NSM the ^G3588 ^T-ASF day ^G2250 ^N-ASF , to the Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM he doth not ^G3756 ^PRT-N regard ^G5426 ^V-PAI-3S it ^G3588 ^T-NSM . He that eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAP-NSM , eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAI-3S to the Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM , for ^G1063 ^CONJ he giveth God thanks ^G2168 ^V-PAI-3S ; and ^G2532 ^CONJ he that eateth not ^G2068 ^V-PAP-NSM to the Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM he eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAI-3S not ^G3756 ^PRT-N , and ^G2532 ^CONJ giveth God thanks ^G2168 ^V-PAI-3S .

7 For ^G1063 ^CONJ none ^G3762 ^A-NSM of us ^G2257 ^P-1GP liveth ^G2198 ^V-PAI-3S to himself ^G1438 ^F-3DSM , and ^G2532 ^CONJ no man ^G3762 ^A-NSM dieth ^G599 ^V-PAI-3S to himself ^G1438 ^F-3DSM .

8 For ^G1063 ^CONJ whether ^G1437 ^COND we ^G5037 ^PRT live ^G2198 ^V-PAS-1P , we live ^G2198 ^V-PAI-1P unto the ^G3588 ^T-DSM Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM ; and ^G5037 ^PRT whether ^G1437 ^COND we die ^G599 ^V-PAS-1P , we die ^G599 ^V-PAI-1P unto the ^G3588 ^T-DSM Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM : whether ^G1437 ^COND we live ^G2198 ^V-PAS-1P therefore ^G3767 ^CONJ , or ^G5037 ^PRT die ^G599 ^V-PAS-1P , we are ^G2070 ^V-PXI-1P the ^G3588 ^T-GSM Lord ^G2962 ^N-GSM \'s .

9 For ^G1063 ^CONJ to ^G1519 ^PREP this end ^G5124 ^D-ASN Christ ^G5547 ^N-NSM both ^G2532 ^CONJ died ^G599 ^V-2AAI-3S , and ^G2532 ^CONJ rose ^G450 ^V-2AAI-3S , and ^G2532 ^CONJ revived ^G326 , that ^G2443 ^CONJ he might be Lord ^G2961 ^V-AAS-3S both ^G2532 ^CONJ of the dead ^G3498 ^A-GPM and ^G2532 ^CONJ living ^G2198 ^V-AAI-3S .

10 But ^G1161 ^CONJ why ^G5101 ^I-ASN dost thou ^G4771 ^P-2NS judge ^G2919 ^V-PAI-2S thy ^G3588 ^T-ASM brother ^G80 ^N-ASM ? or ^G2228 ^PRT why ^G5101 ^I-ASN dost thou ^G4771 ^P-2NS set at naught ^G1848 ^V-PAI-2S thy ^G3588 ^T-ASM brother ^G80 ^N-ASM ? for ^G1063 ^CONJ we shall all ^G3956 ^A-NPM stand before ^G3936 ^V-FDI-1P the ^G3588 ^T-DSN judgment seat ^G968 ^N-DSN of Christ ^G5547 ^N-GSM .

11 For ^G1063 ^CONJ it is written ^G1125 ^V-RPI-3S , As I ^G1473 ^P-1NS live ^G2198 ^V-PAI-1S , saith ^G3004 ^V-PAI-3S the Lord ^G2962 ^N-NSM , every ^G3956 ^A-NSN knee ^G1119 ^N-NSN shall bow ^G2578 ^V-FAI-3S to me ^G1698 ^P-1DS , and ^G2532 ^CONJ every ^G3956 ^A-NSF tongue ^G1100 ^N-NSF shall confess ^G1843 ^V-FMI-3S to God ^G2316 ^N-DSM .

13 Let us not therefore judge ^G2919 ^V-PAS-1P one another ^G240 ^C-APM any more ^G3371 ^ADV : but ^G235 ^CONJ judge ^G2919 ^V-AAM-2P this ^G5124 ^D-ASN rather ^G3123 ^ADV , that no man ^G3361 ^PRT-N put ^G5087 ^V-PAN a stumblingblock ^G4348 ^N-ASN or ^G2228 ^PRT an occasion to fall ^G4625 ^N-ASN in his brother ^G80 ^N-DSM \'s way .

14 I know ^G1492 ^V-RAI-1S , and ^G2532 ^CONJ am persuaded ^G3982 ^V-RPI-1S by ^G1722 ^PREP the Lord ^G2962 ^N-DSM Jesus ^G2424 ^N-DSM , that ^G3754 ^CONJ there is nothing ^G3762 ^A-NSN unclean ^G2839 ^A-NSN of ^G1223 ^PREP itself ^G1438 : but ^G1508 to him that esteemeth ^G3049 ^V-PNP-DSM any thing ^G5100 ^X-ASN to be ^G1511 ^V-PXN unclean ^G2839 ^A-ASN , to him ^G1565 ^D-DSM it is unclean ^G2839 ^A-NSN .

15 But ^G1161 ^CONJ if ^G1487 ^COND thy ^G3588 ^T-NSM brother ^G80 ^N-NSM be grieved ^G3076 ^V-PPI-3S with ^G1223 ^PREP thy meat ^G1033 ^N-ASN , now walkest thou not ^G3765 ^ADV charitably ^G2596 ^PREP . Destroy ^G622 ^V-PAM-2S not ^G3361 ^PRT-N him ^G1565 ^D-ASM with thy ^G3588 ^T-DSN meat ^G1033 ^N-DSN , for ^G5228 ^PREP whom ^G3739 ^R-GSM Christ ^G5547 ^N-NSM died ^G599 ^V-2AAI-3S .

16 Let not ^G3361 ^PRT-N then ^G3767 ^CONJ your ^G3588 ^T-ASN good ^G18 ^A-ASN be evil spoken of ^G987 ^V-PPM-3S :

17 For ^G1063 ^CONJ the ^G3588 ^T-NSF kingdom ^G932 ^N-NSF of God ^G2316 ^N-GSM is ^G2076 ^V-PXI-3S not ^G3756 ^PRT-N meat ^G1035 ^N-NSF and ^G2532 ^CONJ drink ^G4213 ^N-NSF ; but ^G235 ^CONJ righteousness ^G1343 ^N-NSF , and ^G2532 ^CONJ peace ^G1515 ^N-NSF , and ^G2532 ^CONJ joy ^G5479 ^N-NSF in ^G1722 ^PREP the Holy ^G40 ^A-DSN Ghost ^G4151 ^N-DSN .

18 For ^G1063 ^CONJ he that in ^G1722 ^PREP these things ^G5125 ^D-DPN serveth ^G1398 ^V-PAP-NSM Christ ^G5547 ^N-DSM is acceptable ^G2101 ^A-NSM to God ^G2316 ^N-DSM , and ^G2532 ^CONJ approved ^G1384 ^A-NSM of men ^G444 ^N-DPM .

19 Let us therefore follow after ^G1377 ^V-PAS-1P the ^G3588 ^T-GSF things ^G3588 ^T-APN which make for peace ^G1515 ^N-GSF , and ^G2532 ^CONJ things ^G3588 ^T-GSF wherewith one may edify ^G3619 ^N-GSF another ^G240 ^C-APM .

20 For ^G1752 ^ADV meat ^G1033 ^N-GSN destroy ^G2647 ^V-PAM-2S not ^G3361 ^PRT-N the ^G3588 ^T-ASN work ^G2041 ^N-ASN of God ^G2316 ^N-GSM . All things ^G3956 ^A-NPN indeed ^G3303 ^PRT are pure ^G2513 ^A-NPN ; but ^G235 ^CONJ it ^G3588 ^T-DSM is evil ^G2556 ^A-NSN for that man ^G444 ^N-DSM who ^G3588 ^T-DSM eateth ^G2068 ^V-PAP-DSM with ^G1223 ^PREP offense ^G4348 ^N-GSN .

21 It ^G3588 ^T-NSN is good ^G2570 ^A-NSN neither ^G3361 ^PRT-N to eat ^G5315 ^V-2AAN flesh ^G2907 ^N-APN , nor ^G3366 ^CONJ to drink ^G4095 ^V-2AAN wine ^G3631 ^N-ASM , nor ^G3366 ^CONJ any thing whereby ^G1722 ^PREP thy ^G3588 ^T-NSM brother ^G80 ^N-NSM stumbleth ^G4350 ^V-PAI-3S , or ^G2228 ^PRT is offended ^G4624 ^V-PPI-3S , or ^G2228 ^PRT is made weak ^G770 ^V-PAI-3S .

22 Hast ^G2192 ^V-PAI-2S thou ^G4771 ^P-2NS faith ^G4102 ^N-ASF ? have ^G2192 ^V-PAM-2S it to ^G2596 ^PREP thyself ^G4572 ^F-2ASM before ^G1799 ^ADV God ^G2316 ^N-GSM .
