YLT And he saith unto him, `We are passing over from Beth-Lehem-Judah unto the sides of the hill-country of Ephraim -- thence I am, and I go unto Beth-Lehem-Judah; and to the house of Jehovah I am going, and there is no man gathering me into the house,

NET The Levite said to him, "We are traveling from Bethlehem in Judah to the remote region of the Ephraimite hill country. That's where I'm from. I had business in Bethlehem in Judah, but now I'm heading home. But no one has invited me into their home.
ERVEN The Levite answered, "We are traveling from the city Bethlehem in Judah to my home, which is far back in the hill country of Ephraim. I have been to Bethlehem in Judah, and now I am going to my house.
