- 22 I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the assembly, I will praise you.
- 23 You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of Israel!
- 24 For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, Neither has he hidden his face from him; But when he cried to him, he heard.
- 25 Of you comes my praise in the great assembly. I will pay my vows before those who fear him.
- 26 The humble shall eat and be satisfied. They shall praise Yahweh who seek after him. Let your hearts live forever.
- 27 All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh. All the relatives of the nations shall worship before you.
- 28 For the kingdom is Yahweh's. He is the ruler over the nations.
- 29 All the rich ones of the earth shall eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust shall bow before him, Even he who can't keep his soul alive.
- 30 Posterity shall serve him. Future generations shall be told about the Lord.
- 31 They shall come and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, For he has done it.
- 1 Who has believed our message? and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?
- 2 For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
- 3 He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we didn't respect him.
- 4 Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.
- 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.
- 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
- 7 He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn't open his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he didn't open his mouth.
- 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the disobedience of my people to whom the stroke was due?
- 9 They made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
- 10 Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Yahweh shall prosper in his hand.
- 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities.
- 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
- 1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
- 2 Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
- 3 For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.
- 4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don't have the same function,
- 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
- 6 Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;
- 7 or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;
- 8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with liberality; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
- 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.
- 10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate one to another; in honor preferring one another;
- 11 not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
- 12 rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer;
- 13 contributing to the needs of the saints; given to hospitality.
- 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don't curse.
- 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
- 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Don't set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don't be wise in your own conceits.
- 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men.
- 18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.
- 19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord."
- 20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. For in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head."
- 21 Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
- 1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
- 2 as newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby,
- 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious:
- 4 coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
- 5 You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
- 6 Because it is contained in Scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in him will not be disappointed."
- 7 For you therefore who believe is the honor, but for such as are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, Has become the chief cornerstone,"
- 8 and, "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.
- 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
- 10 who in time past were no people, but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
- 11 Beloved, I beg you as foreigners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
- 12 having good behavior among the nations, so in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.
- 13 Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
- 14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to those who do well.
- 15 For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
- 16 as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
- 17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
- 18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
- 19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
- 20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
- 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
- 22 who did not sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth."
- 23 Who, when he was cursed, didn't curse back. When he suffered, didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously;
- 24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.
- 25 For you were going astray like sheep; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
- 1 I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.
- 2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly;
- 3 neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock.
- 4 When the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn't fade away.
- 5 Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
- 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
- 7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
- 8 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
- 9 Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
- 10 But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
- 11 To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
