Isaiah 2 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Isaiah son of Amoz saw this message about Judah and Jerusalem.
2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord's Temple will be on the highest of all mountains. It will be raised higher than the hills. There will be a steady stream of people from all nations going there.
3 People from many places will go there and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living, and we will follow him." His teaching, the Lord's message, will begin in Jerusalem on Mount Zion and will go out to all the world.
4 Then God will act as judge to end arguments between nations. He will decide what is right for people from many lands. They will stop using their weapons for war. They will hammer their swords into plows and use their spears to make tools for harvesting. All fighting between nations will end. They will never again train for war.
5 Family of Jacob, let us follow the Lord.
6 Family of Jacob, you have abandoned your people. This is clear because they have been filled with bad influences from the East, and now your people try to tell the future like the Philistines. They have completely accepted those strange ideas.
7 Jacob's land has been filled with silver and gold from other places. There are many treasures there. His land has been filled with horses and many chariots.
8 His land is full of gods that the people bow down to worship. They made these idols themselves.
9 The people have become worse and worse. They have become very low, and you leaders did nothing to lift them up!
10 You should be afraid of the Lord! Go hide in the dirt and behind the rocks. Hide from his glorious power!
11 Proud people will stop being proud. They will bow down to the ground with shame, and only the Lord will still stand high.
12 The Lord All-Powerful has a special day planned when he will punish the proud and boastful people. They will be brought down.
13 They might be like the tall cedar trees from Lebanon or the great oak trees from Bashan, but they will be cut down.
14 They might be like the tall mountains and high hills
15 or like the tall towers and high walls, but they will be brought down.
16 They might be like great ships from Tarshish, filled with such wonderful cargo, but they will be brought down.
17 At that time those proud people will fall. They will bow low to the ground, and only the Lord will stand high.
18 All the idols will be gone.
19 People will go into the holes in the ground and the cracks in the rocks because they fear the Lord and his great power as he stands to shake the earth.
20 At that time people will throw away their idols they made from gold and silver. They made these statues to worship, but they will throw them into holes in the ground where bats and moles live.
21 They will go down into cracks in the rocks and boulders because they are afraid of the Lord and his glorious power as he stands to shake the earth.
22 Stop trusting other people to save you. Do not think too highly of them; they are only humans who have not stopped breathing yet.

2 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS in the last H319 days H3117 D-NMP , that the mountain H2022 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS \'s house H1004 CMS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS established H3559 NMS in the top H7218 B-NMS of the mountains H2022 , and shall be exalted H5375 above the hills H1389 ; and all H3605 NMS nations H1471 shall flow H5102 unto H413 PREP-3MS it .
3 And many H7227 AMP people H5971 NMP shall go H1980 and say H559 W-VQQ3MP , Come H1980 VQI2MP ye , and let us go up H5927 to H413 PREP the mountain H2022 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , to H413 PREP the house H1004 CMS of the God H430 CDP of Jacob H3290 ; and he will teach H3384 us of his ways H1870 , and we will walk H1980 in his paths H734 : for H3588 CONJ out of Zion H6726 shall go forth H3318 the law H8451 , and the word H1697 W-CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS from Jerusalem H3389 .
4 And he shall judge H8199 among H996 PREP the nations H1471 D-NMP , and shall rebuke H3198 many H7227 AMP people H5971 : and they shall beat H3807 their swords H2719 into plowshares H855 , and their spears H2595 into pruning hooks H4211 : nation H1471 shall not H3808 NADV lift up H5375 VQY3MS sword H2719 GFS against H413 PREP nation H1471 NMS , neither H3808 W-NADV shall they learn H3925 war H4421 any more H5750 ADV .
5 O house H1004 CMS of Jacob H3290 , come H1980 VQI2MP ye , and let us walk H1980 in the light H216 B-CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
6 Therefore H3588 CONJ thou hast forsaken H5203 thy people H5971 the house H1004 CMS of Jacob H3290 , because H3588 CONJ they be replenished H4390 VQQ3MP from the east H6924 M-NMS , and are soothsayers H6049 like the Philistines H6430 , and they please themselves H5606 in the children H3206 of strangers H5237 .
7 Their land H776 also is full H4390 W-VNY3FS of silver H3701 NMS and gold H2091 , neither H369 W-NPAR is there any end H7097 of their treasures H214 ; their land H776 is also full H4390 W-VNY3FS of horses H5483 , neither H369 W-NPAR is there any end H7097 of their chariots H4818 :
8 Their land H776 also is full H4390 W-VNY3FS of idols H457 ; they worship H7812 the work H4639 of their own hands H3027 CFD-3MS , that which H834 L-RPRO their own fingers H676 have made H6213 VQQ3MP :
9 And the mean man H120 NMS boweth down H7817 , and the great man H376 NMS humbleth H8213 himself : therefore forgive H5375 VQY2MS them not H408 W-NPAR .
10 Enter H935 VQFC into the rock H6697 , and hide H2934 thee in the dust H6083 , for M-CMP fear H6343 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and for the glory H1926 of his majesty H1347 .
11 The lofty H1365 looks H5869 CMD of man H120 NMS shall be humbled H8213 , and the haughtiness H7312 of men H376 NMP shall be bowed down H7817 , and the LORD H3068 EDS alone H905 L-CMS-3MS shall be exalted H7682 in that H1931 day H3117 B-AMS .
12 For H3588 CONJ the day H3117 NMS of the LORD H3068 L-EDS of hosts H6635 shall be upon H5921 PREP every H3605 NMS one that is proud H1343 AMS and lofty H7311 , and upon H5921 PREP every H3605 NMS one that is lifted up H5375 ; and he shall be brought low H8213 :
13 And upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the cedars H730 of Lebanon H3844 , that are high H7311 and lifted up H5375 , and upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the oaks H437 of Bashan H1316 ,
14 And upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the high H7311 mountains H2022 , and upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the hills H1389 that are lifted up H5375 ,
15 And upon H5921 W-PREP every H3605 NMS high H1364 tower H4026 , and upon H5921 W-PREP every H3605 NMS fenced H1219 wall H2346 ,
16 And upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS the ships H591 CFP of Tarshish H8659 , and upon H5921 W-PREP all H3605 NMS pleasant H2532 pictures H7914 .
17 And the loftiness H1365 of man H120 D-NMS shall be bowed down H7817 , and the haughtiness H7312 of men H376 NMP shall be made low H8213 : and the LORD H3068 EDS alone H905 L-CMS-3MS shall be exalted H7682 in that H1931 day H3117 B-AMS .
18 And the idols H457 he shall utterly H3632 abolish H2498 .
19 And they shall go H935 into the holes H4631 of the rocks H6697 , and into the caves H4247 of the earth H6083 NMS , for M-CMP fear H6343 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and for the glory H1926 of his majesty H1347 CMS-3MS , when he ariseth H6965 to shake terribly H6206 the earth H776 D-GFS .
20 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS a man H120 D-NMS shall cast H7993 his idols H457 of silver H3701 , and his idols H457 of gold H2091 , which H834 RPRO they made H6213 each one for himself to worship H7812 , to the moles H2661 and to the bats H5847 ;
21 To go H935 L-VQFC into the clefts H5366 of the rocks H6697 , and into the tops H5585 of the ragged rocks H5553 , for M-CMP fear H6343 NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and for the glory H1926 of his majesty H1347 CMS-3MS , when he ariseth H6965 to shake terribly H6206 the earth H776 D-GFS .
22 Cease H2308 ye from H4480 PREP man H120 D-NMS , whose H834 RPRO breath H5397 is in his nostrils H639 B-CMS-3MS : for H3588 CONJ wherein H4100 is he H1931 PPRO-3MS to be accounted H2803 of ?
