Jeremiah 21:7 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 This is the message that came to Jeremiah from the Lord. This was when King Zedekiah of Judah sent Pashhur son of Malkijah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah to Jeremiah. They brought a message for Jeremiah.
2 They said to Jeremiah, "Pray to the Lord for us. Ask him what will happen. We want to know, because King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon is attacking us. Maybe the Lord will do great things for us, as he did in the past. Maybe he will make Nebuchadnezzar stop attacking us and leave."
3 Then Jeremiah answered Pashhur and Zephaniah. He said, "Tell King Zedekiah:
4 'This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: You have weapons of war in your hands that you are using to defend yourselves from the Babylonians and their king. But I will make those weapons worthless. "'The army from Babylon is outside the wall all around the city. Soon I will bring that army into Jerusalem.
5 I myself will fight against you people of Judah. I will fight against you with my own powerful hand. I am very angry with you, so I will fight against you with my own powerful arm. I will fight very hard against you and show how angry I am.
6 I will kill everything living in Jerusalem, both people and animals. They will die from terrible sicknesses that will spread all through the city.
7 After that happens,'" says the Lord, "'I will give King Zedekiah of Judah to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. I will also give Zedekiah's officials to Nebuchadnezzar. Some of the people in Jerusalem will not die from the terrible sicknesses. Some of them will not be killed with swords. Some of them will not die from hunger. But I will give them to Nebuchadnezzar. I will let Judah's enemy win. Nebuchadnezzar's army wants to kill the people of Judah. So the people of Judah and Jerusalem will be killed with swords. Nebuchadnezzar will not show any mercy. He will not feel sorry for them.'
8 "Also tell this to the people of Jerusalem. 'This is what the Lord says: Understand that I will let you choose to live or die.
9 Anyone who stays in Jerusalem will die by a sword or from hunger or from a terrible sickness. But anyone who goes out of Jerusalem and surrenders to the Babylonians attacking you will live. Only those who leave the city will win anything in this war—their lives!
10 I have decided to make trouble for the city of Jerusalem. I will not help the city!'" This message is from the Lord. "'I will give the city of Jerusalem to the king of Babylon. He will burn it with fire.'
11 "Say this to Judah's royal family: 'Listen to the message from the Lord.
12 Family of David, this is what the Lord says: You must judge people fairly every day. Protect the victims from the criminals. If you don't do that, then I will become very angry. My anger will be like a fire that no one will be able to put out. This will happen because you have done evil things.'
13 "Jerusalem, I am against you. You sit on top of the mountain. You sit like a queen over this valley. You people of Jerusalem say, 'No one can attack us. No one can come into our strong city.' But listen to this message from the Lord.
14 'You will get the punishment you deserve. I will start a fire in your forests that will completely burn everything around you.'"

2 Inquire H1875 , I pray thee H4994 IJEC , of the LORD H3068 EDS for H1157 us ; for H3588 CONJ Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS maketh war H3898 against H5921 PREP-1MP us ; if so be H194 ADV that the LORD H3068 EDS will deal H6213 VQY3MS with H854 us according to all H3605 his wondrous works H6381 , that he may go up H5927 from us .
3 Then said H559 W-VQY3MS Jeremiah H3414 unto H413 PREP them , Thus H3541 shall ye say H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Zedekiah H6667 :
4 Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS God H430 CDP of Israel H3478 ; Behold H2009 , I will turn back H5437 the weapons H3627 of war H4421 that H834 RPRO are in your hands H3027 B-CFS-2MP , wherewith H834 RPRO ye H859 PPRO-2MS fight H3898 against the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS , and against the Chaldeans H3778 , which besiege H6696 you without H2351 the walls H2346 , and I will assemble H622 them into H413 PREP the midst H8432 of this H2063 city H5892 D-GFS .
5 And I myself H589 PPRO-1MS will fight H3898 against H854 PART-2MP you with an outstretched H5186 hand H3027 and with a strong H2389 arm H2220 , even in anger H639 , and in fury H2534 , and in great H1419 wrath H7110 .
6 And I will smite H5221 the inhabitants H3427 of this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 D-GFS , both man H120 D-NMS and beast H929 D-NFS : they shall die H4191 of a great H1419 AMS pestilence H1698 .
7 And afterward H310 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS , I will deliver H5414 VQY1MS Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 , and his servants H5650 , and the people H5971 , and such as are left H7604 in this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 BD-NFS from H4480 PREP the pestilence H1698 , from H4480 PREP the sword H2719 D-GFS , and from H4480 PREP the famine H7458 D-NMS , into the hand H3027 B-CFS of Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS , and into the hand H3027 of their enemies H341 , and into the hand H3027 of those that seek H1245 their life H5315 CFS-3MP : and he shall smite H5221 them with the edge H6310 L-CMS of the sword H2719 GFS ; he shall not H3808 ADV spare H2347 them , neither H3808 W-NADV have pity H2550 VQY3MS , nor H3808 W-NADV have mercy H7355 .
8 And unto H413 W-PREP this H2088 D-PMS people H5971 thou shalt say H559 , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Behold H2009 , I set H5414 VQPMS before H6440 you the way H1870 NMS of life H2416 , and the way H1870 NMS of death H4194 .
9 He that abideth H3427 D-VQPMS in this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 BD-NFS shall die H4191 VQY3MS by the sword H2719 , and by the famine H7458 , and by the pestilence H1698 : but he that goeth out H3318 , and falleth H5307 to H5921 PREP the Chaldeans H3778 that besiege H6696 you , he shall live H2421 , and his life H5315 NMS-3MS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3FS unto him for a prey H7998 .
10 For H3588 CONJ I have set H7760 VQQ1MS my face H6440 CMP-1MS against this H2063 D-DFS city H5892 BD-NFS for evil H7451 , and not H3808 W-NPAR for good H2896 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS : it shall be given H5414 into the hand H3027 B-CFS of the king H4428 NMS of Babylon H894 LFS , and he shall burn H8313 it with fire H784 .
11 And touching the house H1004 of the king H4428 NMS of Judah H3063 , say , Hear H8085 VQI2MP ye the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS ;
12 O house H1004 CMS of David H1732 MMS , thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Execute H1777 judgment H4941 NMS in the morning H1242 , and deliver H5337 him that is spoiled H1497 out of the hand H3027 M-GFS of the oppressor H6231 , lest H6435 CONJ my fury H2534 go out H3318 like fire H784 , and burn H1197 that none H369 W-NPAR can quench H3518 it , because H6440 M-CMP of the evil H7455 of your doings H4611 .
13 Behold H2009 , I am against H413 thee , O inhabitant H3427 of the valley H6010 , and rock H6697 NMS of the plain H4334 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS ; which say H559 , Who H4310 W-IPRO shall come down H5181 against H5921 PREP-1MP us ? or who H4310 W-IPRO shall enter H935 VQY3MS into our habitations H4585 ?
14 But I will punish H6485 you according to the fruit H6529 of your doings H4611 , saith H5002 the LORD H3068 EDS : and I will kindle H3341 a fire H784 CMS in the forest H3293 thereof , and it shall devour H398 all things H3605 NMS round about H5439 it .
