Genesis 14:2 (ESV) English Standard Version

1 In the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,
2 these kings made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
3 And all these joined forces in the Valley of Siddim ( that is, the Salt Sea).
4 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
6 and the Horites in their hill country of Seir as far as El-paran on the border of the wilderness.
7 Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling in Hazazon-tamar.
8 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out, and they joined battle in the Valley of Siddim
9 with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five.
10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the hill country.
11 So the enemy took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way.
12 They also took Lot, the son of Abram's brother, who was dwelling in Sodom, and his possessions, and went their way.
13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allies of Abram.
14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people.
17 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley).
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)
19 And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, "Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself."
22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have lifted my hand to the LORD, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,
23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich.'
24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share."

2 That these made H6213 VQQ3MP war H4421 NFS with H854 PREP Bera H1298 EMS king H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS , and with H854 W-PART Birsha H1306 EMS king H4428 NMS of Gomorrah H6017 EFS , Shinab H8134 EMS king H4428 NMS of Admah H126 TFS , and Shemeber H8038 EMS king H4428 NMS of Zeboiim H6636 TFS , and the king H4428 NMS of Bela H1106 EMS , which H1931 PPRO-3FS is Zoar H6820 TFS .
3 All H3605 NMS these H428 PMP were joined together H2266 VQQ3MP in H413 PREP the vale H6010 CMS of Siddim H7708 D-LFS , which H1931 PPRO-3MS is the salt H4417 CMS sea H3220 NMS .
4 Twelve H8147 MFS years H8141 NFS they served H5647 VQQ3MP Chedorlaomer H3540 EMS , and in the thirteenth H7969 W-BFS year H8141 NFS they rebelled H4775 VQQ3MP .
5 And in the fourteenth H702 W-MFS year H8141 NFS came H935 VQPMS Chedorlaomer H3540 EMS , and the kings H4428 WD-NMP that H834 RPRO were with H854 PREP-3MS him , and smote H5221 W-VHY3MP the Rephaims H7497 TMP in Ashteroth Karnaim H6255 LFS , and the Zuzims H2104 D-EMP in Ham H1990 B-LFS , and the Emims H368 D-EMP in Shaveh Kiriathaim H7741 ,

8 And there went out H3318 W-VQY3MS the king H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS , and the king H4428 NMS of Gomorrah H6017 EFS , and the king H4428 NMS of Admah H126 TFS , and the king H4428 NMS of Zeboiim H6636 TFS , and the king H4428 NMS of Bela H1106 EFS (the same H1931 PPRO-3FS is Zoar H6820 LFS ) and they joined H6186 W-VQY3MP battle H4421 NFS with H854 PREP-3MP them in the vale H6010 B-CMS of Siddim H7708 D-EFS ;
9 With H854 PREP Chedorlaomer H3540 EMS the king H4428 NMS of Elam H5867 EMS , and with Tidal H8413 EMS king H4428 NMS of nations H1471 NMP , and Amraphel H569 W-EMS king H4428 NMS of Shinar H8152 LFS , and Arioch H746 W-EMS king H4428 NMS of Ellasar H495 LMS ; four H702 MMS kings H4428 NMS with H854 PREP five H2568 D-MMS .
10 And the vale H6010 W-CMS of Siddim H7708 D-LFS was full of slime pits H875 CFP ; and the kings H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS and Gomorrah H6017 W-LFS fled H5127 W-VQY3MP , and fell H5307 W-VQY3MP there H8033 ADV-3FS ; and they that remained H7604 W-VNPMP fled H5127 VQP3MP to the mountain H2022 NMS-3FS .
11 And they took H3947 W-VQY3MP all H3605 NMS the goods H7399 CMS of Sodom H5467 TFS and Gomorrah H6017 W-LFS , and all H3605 NMS their victuals H400 CMS-3MP , and went their way H1980 W-VQY3MP .
12 And they took H3947 W-VQY3MP Lot H3876 EMS , Abram H87 EMS \'s brother H251 CMS \'s son H1121 , who H1931 W-PPRO-3MS dwelt H3427 VQPMS in Sodom H5467 B-EFS , and his goods H7399 CMS-3MS , and departed H1980 W-VQY3MP .
13 And there came H935 W-VQY3MS one that had escaped H6412 D-NMS , and told H5046 W-VHY3MS Abram H87 L-EMS the Hebrew H5680 D-EMS ; for he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS dwelt H7931 VQPMS in the plain H436 B-CMP of Mamre H4471 EFS the Amorite H567 D-TMS , brother H251 CMS of Eshcol H812 EMS , and brother H251 W-CMS of Aner H6063 EMS : and these H1992 W-PPRO-3MP were confederate H1167 CMP with Abram H87 EMS .
14 And when Abram H87 EMS heard H8085 that H3588 CONJ his brother H251 CMS-3MS was taken captive H7617 VNQ3MS , he armed H7324 W-VHY3MS his trained H2593 CMP-3MS servants , born H3211 CMP in his own house H1004 CMS-3MS , three H7969 W-BFS hundred H3967 BFP and eighteen H8083 MMS , and pursued H7291 W-VQY3MS them unto H5704 PREP Dan H1835 EFS .
15 And he divided himself H2505 W-VNY3MS against H5921 PREP-3MP them , he H1931 PPRO-3MS and his servants H5650 W-CMS-3MS , by night H3915 GMS , and smote H5221 W-VHY3MS-3MP them , and pursued H7291 W-VQY3MS-3MP them unto H5704 PREP Hobah H2327 LFS , which H834 RPRO is on the left hand H8040 M-NMS of Damascus H1834 L-LFS .
16 And he brought back H7725 W-VHY3MS all H3605 NMS the goods H7399 D-NMS , and also H1571 W-CONJ brought again H7725 VHQ3MS his brother H251 CMS-3MS Lot H3876 EMS , and his goods H7399 W-CMS-3MS , and the women H802 D-NFP also H1571 W-CONJ , and the people H5971 D-NMS .
17 And the king H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS went out H3318 W-VQY3MS to meet H7125 L-VQFC-3MS him after H310 PREP his return H7725 VQFC-3MS from the slaughter H5221 M-VHFC-3MS of Chedorlaomer H3540 EMS , and of the kings H4428 NMS that H834 RPRO were with H854 PREP-3MS him , at H413 PREP the valley H6010 CMS of Shaveh H7740 LFS , which H1931 PPRO-3MS is the king H4428 NMS \'s dale H6010 CMS .
18 And Melchizedek H4442 W-EMS king H4428 NMS of Salem H8004 LFS brought forth H3318 VHQ3MS bread H3899 NMS and wine H3196 W-NMS : and he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS was the priest H3548 NMS of the most high H5945 AMS God H410 L-NMS .
19 And he blessed H1288 W-VPY3MS-3MS him , and said H559 W-VQY3MS , Blessed H1288 VWQ3MS be Abram H87 EMS of the most high H5945 AMS God H410 L-NMS , possessor H7069 VQCMS of heaven H8064 NMP and earth H776 W-NFS :
20 And blessed H1288 W-VWPMS be the most high H5945 AMS God H410 EDS , which H834 RPRO hath delivered H4042 VPQ3MS thine enemies H6862 CMP-2MS into thy hand H3027 B-CFS-2MS . And he gave H5414 W-VQY3MS him tithes H4643 NMS of all H3605 M-NMS .
21 And the king H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Abram H87 EMS , Give H5414 VQI2MS me the persons H5315 D-NFS , and take H3947 VQI2MS the goods H7399 WD-NMS to thyself .
22 And Abram H87 EMS said H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP the king H4428 NMS of Sodom H5467 TFS , I have lifted up H7311 VHQ1MS mine hand H3027 CFS-1MS unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , the most high H5945 AMS God H410 EDS , the possessor H7069 VQCMS of heaven H8064 NMP and earth H776 W-NFS ,
23 That I will not H518 PART take from a thread H2339 M-NMS even to H5704 W-PREP to a shoelatchet H8288 CMS , and that I will not H518 PART take H3947 VQY1MS any thing H3605 M-CMS that H834 RPRO is thine , lest H3808 W-NPAR thou shouldest say H559 VQY2MS , I H589 PPRO-1MS have made Abram rich H6238 VHQ1MS :
24 Save H1107 PREP-1MS only H7535 ADV that which H834 RPRO the young men H5288 D-NMP have eaten H398 VQQ3MP , and the portion H2506 W-CMS of the men H376 D-NMP which H834 RPRO went H1980 VQQ3MP with H854 PREP-1MS me , Aner H6063 EMS , Eshcol H812 EMS , and Mamre H4471 W-LMS ; let them H1992 PPRO-3MP take H3947 VQY3MP their portion H2506 CMS-3MP .
