Numbers 25:14 (KJV) King James Version

1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.
2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.
3 And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
5 And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor.
6 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
7 And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
8 And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
9 And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand.
10 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.
12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:
13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
14 Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.
15 And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian.
16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
17 Vex the Midianites, and smite them:
18 For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.

4 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Take H3947 VQI2MS all H3605 NMS the heads H7218 CMP of the people H5971 , and hang them up H3363 before the LORD H3068 L-EDS against H5048 the sun H8121 , that the fierce H2740 CMS anger H639 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS may be turned away H7725 from Israel H3478 .
5 And Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the judges H8199 of Israel H3478 , Slay H2026 ye every one H376 his men H582 NMS that were joined H6775 unto Baal H1187 - peor .
6 And , behold H2009 IJEC , one H376 NMS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 came H935 VQPMS and brought H7126 unto H413 PREP his brethren H251 NMP-3MS a Midianitish woman H4084 in the sight H5869 of Moses H4872 , and in the sight H5869 of all H3605 NMS the congregation H5712 CFS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , who H1992 were weeping H1058 before the door H6607 CMS of the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 .
7 And when Phinehas H6372 , the son H1121 of Eleazar H499 , the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest H3548 , saw H7200 W-VIY3MS it , he rose up H6965 W-VQY3MS from among H8432 the congregation H5712 , and took H3947 W-VQY3MS a javelin H7420 in his hand H3027 B-CFS-3MS ;
8 And he went H935 W-VQY3MS after H310 ADV the man H376 NMS of Israel H3478 into H413 PREP the tent H6898 , and thrust H1856 both H8147 ONUM-3MP of them through , the man H376 NMS of Israel H3478 , and the woman H802 D-NFS through H413 PREP her belly H6897 . So the plague H4046 was stayed H6113 from M-PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
9 And those that died H4191 in the plague H4046 were H1961 W-VQY3MP twenty H6242 W-MMP and four H702 MMS thousand H505 MMS .
10 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
11 Phinehas H6372 , the son H1121 of Eleazar H499 , the son H1121 of Aaron H175 the priest H3548 , hath turned my wrath away H7725 VHQ3MS from M-PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , while he was zealous H7065 for my sake H854 among H8432 them , that I consumed H3615 not H3808 W-NPAR the children H1121 of Israel H3478 in my jealousy H7068 .
12 Wherefore H3651 L-ADV say H559 , Behold H2009 , I give H5414 VQPMS unto him my covenant H1285 B-CFS-1MS of peace H7965 :
13 And he shall have H1961 W-VQQ3FS it , and his seed H2233 after H310 PREP-3MS him , even the covenant H1285 NFS of an everlasting H5769 NMS priesthood H3550 ; because H834 RPRO he was zealous H7065 for his God H430 , and made an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
14 Now the name H8034 W-CMS of the Israelite H3478 that was slain H5221 even that H834 RPRO was slain H5221 with H854 PREP the Midianitish woman H4084 , was Zimri H2174 , the son H1121 of Salu H5543 , a prince H5387 of a chief H1 NMS house H1004 among the Simeonites H8099 .
15 And the name H8034 W-CMS of the Midianitish H4084 woman H802 D-NFS that was slain H5221 was Cozbi H3579 , the daughter H1323 of Zur H6698 ; he H1931 PPRO-3MS was head H7218 NMS over a people H523 , and of a chief H1 NMS house H1004 in Midian H4080 .
16 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
17 Vex H6887 the Midianites H4084 , and smite H5221 them :
18 For H3588 CONJ they H1992 PPRO-3MP vex H6887 you with their wiles H5231 , wherewith H834 RPRO they have beguiled H5230 you in H5921 PREP the matter H1697 CMS of Peor H6465 , and in H5921 PREP the matter H1697 CMS of Cozbi H3579 , the daughter H1323 of a prince H5387 of Midian H4080 , their sister H269 , which was slain H5221 in the day H3117 of the plague H4046 for Peor\'s sake H5921 PREP .
