Exodus 2 (KJV) King James Version

1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.
2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.
5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.
6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.
7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?
8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.
9 And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.
11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
21 And Moses was content to dwell with the man: and he gave Moses Zipporah his daughter.
22 And she bare him a son, and he called his name Gershom: for he said, I have been a stranger in a strange land.
23 And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage.
24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them.

4 And his sister H269 stood H3320 afar off H7350 , to know H3045 what H4100 IPRO would be done H6213 to him .
5 And the daughter H1323 CFS of Pharaoh H6547 EMS came down H3381 to wash H7364 herself at H5921 PREP the river H2975 ; and her maidens H5291 walked along H1980 by H5921 PREP the river H2975 \'s side H3027 CFS ; and when she saw H7200 W-VQQ3FS the ark H8392 D-NFS among H8432 B-NMS the flags H5488 , she sent H7971 her maid H519 to fetch H3947 it .
6 And when she had opened H6605 it , she saw H7200 the child H3206 : and , behold H2009 IJEC , the babe H5288 wept H1058 . And she had compassion H2550 on H5921 PREP-3MS him , and said H559 W-VQY3FS , This H2088 is one of the Hebrews\' children H3206 .
7 Then said H559 W-VQY3FS his sister H269 to H413 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s daughter H1323 CFS , Shall I go H1980 and call H7121 to thee a nurse H802 NFS of H4480 PREP the Hebrew women H5680 , that she may nurse H3243 the child H3206 for thee ?
8 And Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s daughter H1323 CFS said H559 to her , Go H1980 . And the maid H5959 went H1980 W-VQQ3FS and called H7121 W-VQY2MS the child H3206 \'s mother H517 GFS .
9 And Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s daughter H1323 CFS said H559 W-VQY3FS unto her , Take this child away H1980 , and nurse H3243 it for me , and I H589 W-PPRO-1MS will give H5414 VQY1MS thee thy wages H7939 . And the woman H802 D-NFS took H3947 W-VQY3FS the child H3206 , and nursed H5134 it .
10 And the child H3206 grew H1431 , and she brought H935 him unto Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s daughter H1323 , and he became H1961 W-VPY3MS her son H1121 . And she called H7121 W-VQY2MS his name H8034 CMS-3MS Moses H4872 : and she said H559 W-VQY3FS , Because H3588 CONJ I drew H4871 him out of H4480 PREP the water H4325 D-CMS .
11 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS in those H1992 D-PPRO-3MP days H3117 BD-NMP , when Moses H4872 was grown H1431 , that he went out H3318 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP his brethren H251 NMP-3MS , and looked H7200 W-VIY3MS on their burdens H5450 : and he spied H7200 W-VIY3MS an Egyptian H4713 smiting H5221 a Hebrew H5680 TMS , one of his brethren H251 .
12 And he looked H6437 this way H3541 and that way H3541 , and when he saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ there was no H369 NPAR man H376 NMS , he slew H5221 W-VHY3MS the Egyptian H4713 , and hid H2934 him in the sand H2344 .
13 And when he went out H3318 W-VQY3MS the second H8145 D-ONUM day H3117 B-AMS , behold H2009 IJEC , two H8147 men H376 NMP of the Hebrews H5680 strove together H5327 : and he said H559 W-VQY3MS to him that did the wrong H7563 , Wherefore H4100 L-IPRO smitest H5221 thou thy fellow H7453 ?
14 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Who H4310 IPRO made H7760 thee a prince H8269 and a judge H8199 over H5921 PREP-1MP us ? intendest H559 W-VQY3MS thou H859 PPRO-2MS to kill H2026 me , as H834 K-RPRO thou killedst H2026 the Egyptian H4713 ? And Moses H4872 feared H3372 W-VQY3MS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS , Surely H403 ADV this thing H1697 is known H3045 .
15 Now when Pharaoh H6547 EMS heard H8085 this H2088 D-PMS thing H1697 D-NMS , he sought H1245 to slay H2026 Moses H4872 . But Moses H4872 fled H1272 W-VQY3MS from the face H6440 M-CMP of Pharaoh H6547 EMS , and dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MS in the land H776 B-GFS of Midian H4080 : and he sat down H3427 W-VQY3MS by H5921 PREP a well H875 .
16 Now the priest H3548 of Midian H4080 had seven H7651 MFS daughters H1323 : and they came H935 and drew H1802 water , and filled H4390 the troughs H7298 to water H8248 L-VHFC their father H1 \'s flock H6629 NMS .
17 And the shepherds H7462 came H935 W-VQY3MP and drove them away H1644 : but Moses H4872 stood up H6965 W-VQY3MS and helped H3467 them , and watered H8248 their flock H6629 .
18 And when they came H935 to H413 PREP Reuel H7467 their father H1 , he said H559 W-VQY3MS , How H4069 IPRO is it that ye are come H935 so soon H4116 today H3117 D-NMS ?
19 And they said H559 , An Egyptian H4713 delivered H5337 us out of the hand H3027 M-GFS of the shepherds H7462 , and also H1571 W-CONJ drew water enough H1802 for us , and watered H8248 the flock H6629 .
20 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP his daughters H1323 , And where H346 is he ? why H4100 L-IPRO is it H2088 PMS that ye have left H5800 the man H376 D-NMS ? call H7121 him , that he may eat H398 bread H3899 NMS .
21 And Moses H4872 was content H2974 to dwell H3427 L-VQFC with H854 PREP the man H376 D-NMS : and he gave H5414 W-VQQ3MS Moses H4872 Zipporah H6855 his daughter H1323 .
22 And she bore H3205 W-VQY3FS him a son H1121 NMS , and he called H7121 W-VQY3MS his name H8034 CMS-3MS Gershom H1648 : for H3588 CONJ he said H559 VQQ3MS , I have been H1961 VQQ1MS a stranger H1616 NMS in a strange H5237 land H776 B-GFS .
23 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS in process of time H3117 , that the king H4428 NMS of Egypt H4714 EFS died H4191 W-VQY3MS : and the children H1121 of Israel H3478 sighed H584 by reason of H4480 PREP the bondage H5656 , and they cried H2199 , and their cry H7775 came up H5927 W-VHY2MS unto H413 PREP God H430 D-EDP by reason of H4480 PREP the bondage H5656 .
24 And God H430 EDP heard H8085 their groaning H5009 , and God H430 EDP remembered H2142 W-VQY3MS his covenant H1285 with H854 PREP Abraham H85 , with H854 PREP Isaac H3327 , and with H854 W-PART Jacob H3290 .
25 And God H430 EDP looked upon H7200 W-VIY3MS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and God H430 NAME-4MP had respect H3045 W-VQY3MS unto them .
