1 യഹോവയായ കർത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: പുല്ലു രണ്ടാമതു മുളെച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ വിട്ടിലുകളെ നിർമ്മിച്ചു: അതു രാജാവിന്റെ വക പുല്ലു അരിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം മുളെച്ച രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുല്ലു ആയിരുന്നു.
2 എന്നാൽ അവ ദേശത്തിലെ സസ്യം തിന്നുതീർന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ: യഹോവയായ കർത്താവേ, ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിർന്നുനില്ക്കും? അവൻ ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3 യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
4 യഹോവയായ കർത്താവു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവയായ കർത്താവു തീയാൽ വ്യവഹരിപ്പാൻ അതിനെ വിളിച്ചു; അതു വലിയ ആഴിയെ വറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടു യഹോവയുടെ ഓഹരിയെയും തിന്നുകളവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചു.
5 അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ: യഹോവയായ കർത്താവേ, മതിയാക്കേണമേ; യാക്കോബ് എങ്ങനെ നിവിർന്നുനില്ക്കും? അവൻ ചെറിയവനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 യഹോവ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു; അതു സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കർത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
7 അവൻ എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: കർത്താവു കയ്യിൽ തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തൂക്കുകട്ട തൂക്കിയുണ്ടാക്കിയോരു മതിലിന്മേൽ നിന്നു.
8 യഹോവ എന്നോടു: ആമോസേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു കർത്താവു: ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നടുവിൽ ഒരു തൂക്കുകട്ട പിടിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഇനി അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല;
9 യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ പൂജാഗിരികൾ പാഴും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരങ്ങൾ ശൂന്യവുമായ്തീരും; ഞാൻ യൊരോബെയാംഗൃഹത്തോടു വാളുമായി എതിർത്തുനില്ക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
10 എന്നാൽ ബേഥേലിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ അമസ്യാവു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: ആമോസ് യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വാക്കു ഒക്കെയും സഹിപ്പാൻ ദേശത്തിന്നു കഴിവില്ല.
11 യൊരോബെയാം വാൾകൊണ്ടു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആമോസ് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.
12 എന്നാൽ ആമോസിനോടു അമസ്യാവു: എടോ ദർശകാ, യെഹൂദാദേശത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; അവിടെ പ്രവചിച്ചു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിച്ചുകൊൾക.
13 ബേഥേലിലോ ഇനി പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; അതു രാജാവിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരവും രാജധാനിയുമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 അതിന്നു ആമോസ് അമസ്യാവോടു: ഞാൻ പ്രവാചകനല്ല, പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യനുമല്ല, ഇടയനും കാട്ടത്തിപ്പഴം പെറുക്കുന്നവനും അത്രേ.
15 ഞാൻ ആടുകളെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു: നീ ചെന്നു എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പ്രവചിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
16 ആകയാൽ നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്ക: യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രവചിക്കരുതു; യിസ്ഹാക്ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു നിന്റെ വചനം പൊഴിക്കരുതു എന്നു നീ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.
17 അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ നഗരത്തിൽ വേശ്യയാകും; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീഴും; നിന്റെ ദേശം അളവു നൂൽകൊണ്ടു വിഭാഗിക്കപ്പെടും; നീയോ ഒരു അശുദ്ധദേശത്തുവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേൽ സ്വദേശം വിട്ടു പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകേണ്ടിവരും.
1 Thus H3541 hath the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 showed H7200 unto me ; and , behold H2009 IJEC , he formed H3335 grasshoppers H1462 in the beginning H8462 of the shooting up H5927 of the latter growth H3954 ; and , lo H2009 IJEC , it was the latter growth H3954 after H310 ADV the king H4428 \'s mowings H1488 .
2 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that when H518 PART they had made an end H3615 of eating H398 the grass H6212 NMS of the land H776 D-GFS , then I said H559 W-VQY1MS , O Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 , forgive H5545 , I beseech thee H4994 IJEC : by whom H4310 IPRO shall Jacob H3290 arise H6965 VQY3MS ? for H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS is small H6996 AMS .
3 The LORD H3068 EDS repented H5162 for H5921 PREP this H2063 DPRO : It shall not H3808 NADV be H1961 , saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
4 Thus H3541 hath the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 showed H7200 unto me : and , behold H2009 IJEC , the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 called H7121 VQPMS to contend H7378 by fire H784 , and it devoured H398 W-VQY3FS the great H7227 AFS deep H8415 NMS , and did eat up H398 a part H2506 .
5 Then said H559 W-VQY1MS I , O Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 , cease H2308 VQI2MS , I beseech thee H4994 IJEC : by whom H4310 IPRO shall Jacob H3290 arise H6965 VQY3MS ? for H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS is small H6996 AMS .
6 The LORD H3068 EDS repented H5162 for H5921 PREP this H2063 DPRO : This H1931 PPRO-3FS also H1571 CONJ shall not H3808 NADV be H1961 , saith H559 VQQ3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
7 Thus H3541 he showed H7200 me : and , behold H2009 IJEC , the Lord H136 EDS stood H5324 upon H5921 PREP a wall H2346 made by a plumb line H594 , with a plumb line H594 in his hand H3027 .
8 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Amos H5986 , what H4100 IGAT seest H7200 VQPMS thou H859 PPRO-2MS ? And I said H559 W-VQY3MS , A plumb line H594 . 9 And the high places H1116 of Isaac H3446 shall be desolate H8074 , and the sanctuaries H4720 of Israel H3478 shall be laid waste H2717 ; and I will rise H6965 against H5921 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Jeroboam H3379 with the sword H2719 .
10 Then Amaziah H558 the priest H3548 of Bethel H1008 LFS sent H7971 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Jeroboam H3379 king H4428 NMS of Israel H3478 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Amos H5986 hath conspired H7194 against H5921 PREP-2MS thee in the midst H7130 of the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 : the land H776 D-GFS is not able H3201 to bear H3557 all H3605 NMS his words H1697 .
11 For H3588 CONJ thus H3541 Amos H5986 saith H559 VQQ3MS , Jeroboam H3379 shall die H4191 VQY3MS by the sword H2719 , and Israel H3478 shall surely be led away captive H1540 out of M-PREP their own land H127 .
12 Also Amaziah H558 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Amos H5986 , O thou seer H2374 , go H1980 VQI2MS , flee thee away H1272 into H413 PREP the land H776 GFS of Judah H3063 , and there H8033 ADV eat H398 bread H3899 NMS , and prophesy H5012 there H8033 W-ADV :
13 But prophesy H5012 not H3808 ADV again H3254 VHY3FS any more H5750 ADV at Bethel H1008 : for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS is the king H4428 NMS \'s chapel H4720 , and it H1931 PPRO-3MS is the king H4467 \'s court H1004 W-NMS .
14 Then answered H6030 W-VQY3MS Amos H5986 , and said H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Amaziah H558 , I H595 PPRO-1MS was no H3808 NADV prophet H5030 , neither H3808 W-NADV was I H595 PPRO-1MS a prophet H5030 \'s son H1121 CMS ; but H3588 CONJ I H595 PPRO-1MS was a herdsman H951 , and a gatherer H1103 of sycamore fruit H8256 :
15 And the LORD H3068 EDS took H3947 me as I followed H310 the flock H6629 , and the Lord H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Go H1980 VQI2MS , prophesy H5012 unto H413 PREP my people H5971 Israel H3478 LMS .
16 Now H6258 W-ADV therefore hear H8085 VQI2MS thou the word H1697 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS : Thou H859 PPRO-2MS sayest H559 , Prophesy H5012 not H3808 NADV against H5921 PREP Israel H3478 , and drop H5197 not H3808 W-NADV thy word against H5921 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Isaac H3446 .
17 Therefore H3651 L-ADV thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS ; Thy wife H802 CFS-2MS shall be a harlot H2181 in the city H5892 BD-NFS , and thy sons H1121 W-CMP-2MS and thy daughters H1323 shall fall H5307 by the sword H2719 , and thy land H127 shall be divided H2505 by line H2256 ; and thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt die H4191 VQY2MS in H5921 PREP a polluted H2931 land H127 : and Israel H3478 shall surely go into captivity H1540 forth of PREP his land H127 .
