1 യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം യോനെക്കു ഉണ്ടായതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:
2 നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു മഹാനഗരമായ നീനെവേയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രസംഗം അതിനോടു പ്രസംഗിക്ക.
3 അങ്ങനെ യോനാ പുറപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം നീനെവേയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. എന്നാൽ നീനെവേ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിയുള്ള അതിമഹത്തായോരു നഗരമായിരുന്നു.
4 യോനാ നഗരത്തിൽ കടന്നു ആദ്യം ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിചെന്നു: ഇനി നാല്പതു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ നീനെവേ ഉന്മൂലമാകും എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
5 എന്നാൽ നീനെവേക്കാർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു ഒരു ഉപവാസം പരസ്യം ചെയ്തു വലിയവരും ചെറിയവരും ഒരുപോലെ രട്ടുടുത്തു.
6 വർത്തമാനം നീനെവേരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയാറെ അവൻ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാജവസ്ത്രം നീക്കിവെച്ചു രട്ടു പുതെച്ചു വെണ്ണീറിൽ ഇരുന്നു.
7 അവൻ നീനെവേയിൽ എങ്ങും ഘോഷിപ്പിച്ചു പരസ്യമാക്കിയതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: രാജാവിന്റെയും അവന്റെ മഹത്തുക്കളുടെയും ആജ്ഞയാവിതു: മനുഷ്യനോ മൃഗമോ കന്നുകാലിയോ ആടോ ഒന്നും ഒരു വസ്തുവും ആസ്വദിക്കരുതു; മേയ്കയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും അരുതു.
8 മനുഷ്യനും മൃഗവും രട്ടു പുതെച്ചു ഉച്ചത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തോടു വിളിച്ചു അപേക്ഷിക്കേണം; ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗവും താന്താന്റെ കൈക്കലുള്ള സാഹസവും വിട്ടു മനംതിരികയും വേണം.
9 ദൈവം വീണ്ടും അനുതപിച്ചു നാം നശിച്ചുപോകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം വിട്ടുമാറുമായിരിക്കും; ആർക്കറിയാം.
10 അവർ ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്നു ദൈവം അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളാൽ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ താൻ അവർക്കു വരുത്തും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അനർത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദൈവം അനുതപിച്ചു അതു വരുത്തിയതുമില്ല.

2 Arise H6965 VQI2MS , go H1980 VQI2MS unto H413 PREP Nineveh H5210 LFS , that great H1419 D-AFS city H5892 D-GFS , and preach H7121 W-VQI2MS unto H413 PREP it the preaching H7150 D-NFS that H834 RPRO I H595 PPRO-1MS bid H1696 VQPMS thee .
3 So Jonah H3124 EMS arose H6965 W-VQY3MS , and went H1980 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Nineveh H5210 LFS , according to the word H1697 K-NMS of the LORD H3068 EDS . Now Nineveh H5210 W-LFS was H1961 VQQ3FS an exceeding H430 L-NMP great H1419 AMS-3FS city H5892 GFS of three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP \' journey H4109 CMS .

7 And he caused it to be proclaimed H2199 W-VHY3MS and published H559 W-VQY3MS through Nineveh H5210 B-EFS by the decree H2940 M-CMS of the king H4428 D-NMS and his nobles H1419 W-JMP-3MS , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , Let neither H408 ADV man H120 D-NMS nor beast H929 WD-NFS , herd H1241 D-NMS nor flock H6629 WD-NMS , taste H2938 VQY3MP any thing H3972 NMS : let them not H408 NPAR feed H7462 VQY3MP , nor H408 NPAR drink H8354 VQY3MP water H4325 W-NMD :
8 But let man H120 D-NMS and beast H929 WD-NFS be covered H3680 W-VHY3MP with sackcloth H8242 NMP , and cry H7121 W-VQY3MP mightily H2394 B-NFS unto H413 PREP God H430 EDP : yea , let them turn H7725 W-VUY3MP every one H376 NMS from his evil H7451 D-AFS way H1870 M-CMS-3MS , and from H4480 W-PREP the violence H2555 D-NMS that H834 RPRO is in their hands H3709 B-CFD-3MP .
9 Who H4310 IPRO can tell H3045 VQPMS if God H430 D-EDP will turn H7725 VQY3MS and repent H5162 W-VNQ3MS , and turn away H7725 W-VQQ3MS from his fierce H2740 M-CMS anger H639 CMS-3MS , that we perish H6 VQY1MP not H3808 W-NPAR ?
10 And God H430 D-NAME-4MP saw H7200 W-VIY3MS their works H4639 CMP-3MP , that H3588 CONJ they turned H7725 VQQ3MP from their evil H7451 D-AFS way H1870 M-CMS-3MP ; and God H430 D-EDP repented H5162 W-VNY3MS of H5921 PREP the evil H7451 D-AFS , that H834 RPRO he had said H1696 VPQ3MS that he would do H6213 L-VQFC unto them ; and he did H6213 VQQ3MS it not H3808 W-NPAR .
