2 Chronicles 1 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 Solomon son of David took firm control of his kingdom, for the LORD his God was with him and made him very powerful.
2 Solomon called together all the leaders of Israel-- the generals and captains of the army, the judges, and all the political and clan leaders.
3 Then he led the entire assembly to the place of worship in Gibeon, for God's Tabernacle was located there. (This was the Tabernacle that Moses, the LORD's servant, had made in the wilderness.)
4 David had already moved the Ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the tent he had prepared for it in Jerusalem.
5 But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri and grandson of Hur was there at Gibeon in front of the Tabernacle of the LORD. So Solomon and the people gathered in front of it to consult the LORD.
6 There in front of the Tabernacle, Solomon went up to the bronze altar in the LORD's presence and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings on it.
7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, "What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!"
8 Solomon replied to God, "You showed faithful love to David, my father, and now you have made me king in his place.
9 O LORD God, please continue to keep your promise to David my father, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth!
10 Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?"
11 God said to Solomon, "Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people--
12 I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!"
13 Then Solomon returned to Jerusalem from the Tabernacle at the place of worship in Gibeon, and he reigned over Israel.
14 Solomon built up a huge force of chariots and horses. He had 1,400 chariots and 12,000 horses. He stationed some of them in the chariot cities and some near him in Jerusalem.
15 The king made silver and gold as plentiful in Jerusalem as stone. And valuable cedar timber was as common as the sycamore-fig trees that grow in the foothills of Judah.
16 Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from Cilicia; the king's traders acquired them from Cilicia at the standard price.
17 At that time chariots from Egypt could be purchased for 600 pieces of silver, and horses for 150 pieces of silver. They were then exported to the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.

2 Then Solomon H8010 MMS spoke H559 W-VQY3MS unto all H3605 L-CMS Israel H3478 , to the captains H8269 of thousands H505 and of hundreds H3967 , and to the judges H8199 , and to every H3605 WL-CMS governor H5387 in all H3605 L-CMS Israel H3478 , the chief H7218 CMP of the fathers H1 .
3 So Solomon H8010 MMS , and all H3605 W-CMS the congregation H6951 with H5973 PREP-3MS him , went H1980 W-VQY3MP to the high place H1116 that H834 RPRO was at Gibeon H1391 ; for H3588 CONJ there H8033 ADV was H1961 VQQ3MS the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS of God H430 D-NAME-4MP , which H834 RPRO Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of the LORD H3068 EDS had made H6213 VQQ3MS in the wilderness H4057 .
4 But H61 the ark H727 of God H430 D-EDP had David H1732 brought up H5927 from Kirjath H7157 - jearim to the place which David H1732 had prepared H3559 for it : for H3588 CONJ he had pitched H5186 a tent H168 NMS for it at Jerusalem H3389 .
5 Moreover the brazen H5178 altar H4196 , that H834 RPRO Bezaleel H1212 the son H1121 CMS of Uri H221 , the son H1121 CMS of Hur H2354 , had made H6213 VQQ3MS , he put H7760 VQQ3MS before H6440 L-CMP the tabernacle H4908 of the LORD H3068 EDS : and Solomon H8010 MMS and the congregation H6951 sought H1875 unto it .
6 And Solomon H8010 MMS went up H5927 W-VHY3MS thither H8033 ADV to H5921 PREP the brazen H5178 altar H4196 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , which H834 RPRO was at the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 NMS , and offered H5927 W-VHY3MS a thousand H505 MMS burnt offerings H5930 CFP upon H5921 PREP it .
7 In that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS night H3915 did God H430 EDP appear H7200 unto Solomon H8010 , and said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , Ask H7592 VQI2MS what H4100 IGAT I shall give H5414 thee .
8 And Solomon H8010 MMS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto God H430 L-NMP , Thou H859 PPRO-2MS hast showed H6213 VQQ2MS great H1419 AMS mercy H2617 NMS unto H5973 PREP David H1732 my father H1 CMS-1MS , and hast made me to reign H4427 in his stead H8478 .
9 Now H6258 ADV , O LORD H3068 EDS God H430 EDP , let thy promise H1697 unto H5973 PREP David H1732 my father H1 CMS-1MS be established H539 : for H3588 CONJ thou H859 PPRO-2MS hast made me king H4427 over H5921 PREP a people H5971 NMS like the dust H6083 K-NMS of the earth H776 D-GFS in multitude H7227 AMS .
10 Give H5414 VQI2MS me now H6258 ADV wisdom H2451 NFS and knowledge H4093 , that I may go out H3318 and come in H935 before H6440 L-CMP this H2088 D-PMS people H5971 : for H3588 CONJ who H4310 IPRO can judge H8199 this H2088 D-PMS thy people H5971 , that is so great H1419 D-AMS ?
11 And God H430 EDP said H559 W-VQY3MS to Solomon H8010 , Because H3282 ADV this H2063 DPRO was H1961 VQQ3FS in H5973 PREP thine heart H3824 , and thou hast not H3808 ADV asked H7592 riches H6239 , wealth H5233 , or honor H3519 , nor the life H5315 GFS of thine enemies H8130 VQCMP-2MS , neither H3808 NADV yet H1571 W-CONJ hast asked H7592 long life H7227 AMP ; but hast asked H7592 wisdom H2451 NFS and knowledge H4093 for thyself , that H834 RPRO thou mayest judge H8199 my people H5971 , over H5921 whom H834 RPRO I have made thee king H4427 :
12 Wisdom H2451 and knowledge H4093 is granted H5414 unto thee ; and I will give H5414 thee riches H6239 , and wealth H5233 , and honor H3519 , such as RPRO none H3808 NPAR of the kings H4428 have had H1961 VQQ3MS that H834 RPRO have been before H6440 L-CMP-2MS thee , neither H3808 NPAR shall there any after H310 thee have H1961 VQY3MS the like H3651 ADV .
13 Then Solomon H8010 MMS came H935 W-VQY3MS from his journey to the high place H1116 that H834 RPRO was at Gibeon H1391 to Jerusalem H3389 , from before H6440 ML-CMP the tabernacle H168 NMS of the congregation H4150 NMS , and reigned H4427 over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 LMS .
14 And Solomon H8010 MMS gathered H622 chariots H7393 and horsemen H6571 : and he had H1961 W-VPY3MS a thousand H505 W-BMS and four H702 W-BFS hundred H3967 BFP chariots H7393 , and twelve H8147 thousand H505 W-BMS horsemen H6571 , which he placed H5117 in the chariot H7393 cities H5892 B-CFP , and with H5973 the king H4428 D-NMS at Jerusalem H3389 .
15 And the king H4428 D-NMS made H5414 W-VQQ3MS silver H3701 and gold H2091 at Jerusalem H3389 as plenteous as stones H68 , and cedar trees H730 made H5414 VQQ3MS he as the sycamore trees H8256 that H834 RPRO are in the vale H8219 for abundance H7230 .
16 And Solomon H8010 had horses H5483 brought out H4161 of Egypt H4714 , and linen yarn H4723 : the king H4428 D-NMS \'s merchants H5503 received H3947 VQY3MP the linen yarn H4723 at a price H4242 .
17 And they fetched up H5927 , and brought forth H3318 out of Egypt H4714 M-TFS a chariot H4818 for six H8337 B-BFP hundred H3967 BFP shekels of silver H3701 NMS , and a horse H5483 for a hundred H3967 and fifty H2572 : and so H3651 brought they out H3318 horses for all H3605 L-CMS the kings H4428 CMP of the Hittites H2850 , and for the kings H4428 of Syria H758 EMS , by their means H3027 .
