Ezekiel 43:3 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 After this, the man brought me back around to the east gateway.
2 Suddenly, the glory of the God of Israel appeared from the east. The sound of his coming was like the roar of rushing waters, and the whole landscape shone with his glory.
3 This vision was just like the others I had seen, first by the Kebar River and then when he came to destroy Jerusalem. I fell face down on the ground.
4 And the glory of the LORD came into the Temple through the east gateway.
5 Then the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner courtyard, and the glory of the LORD filled the Temple.
6 And I heard someone speaking to me from within the Temple, while the man who had been measuring stood beside me.
7 The LORD said to me, "Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place where I will rest my feet. I will live here forever among the people of Israel. They and their kings will not defile my holy name any longer by their adulterous worship of other gods or by honoring the relics of their kings who have died.
8 They put their idol altars right next to mine with only a wall between them and me. They defiled my holy name by such detestable sin, so I consumed them in my anger.
9 Now let them stop worshiping other gods and honoring the relics of their kings, and I will live among them forever.
10 "Son of man, describe to the people of Israel the Temple I have shown you, so they will be ashamed of all their sins. Let them study its plan,
11 and they will be ashamed of what they have done. Describe to them all the specifications of the Temple-- including its entrances and exits-- and everything else about it. Tell them about its decrees and laws. Write down all these specifications and decrees as they watch so they will be sure to remember and follow them.
12 And this is the basic law of the Temple: absolute holiness! The entire top of the mountain where the Temple is built is holy. Yes, this is the basic law of the Temple.
13 "These are the measurements of the altar: There is a gutter all around the altar 21 inches deep and 21 inches wide, with a curb 9 inches wide around its edge. And this is the height of the altar:
14 From the gutter the altar rises 3-1/2 feet to a lower ledge that surrounds the altar and is 21 inches wide. From the lower ledge the altar rises 7 feet to the upper ledge that is also 21 inches wide.
15 The top of the altar, the hearth, rises another 7 feet higher, with a horn rising up from each of the four corners.
16 The top of the altar is square, measuring 21 feet by 21 feet.
17 The upper ledge also forms a square, measuring 24-1/2 feet by 24-1/2 feet, with a 21-inch gutter and a 10-1/2-inch curb all around the edge. There are steps going up the east side of the altar."
18 Then he said to me, "Son of man, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: These will be the regulations for the burning of offerings and the sprinkling of blood when the altar is built.
19 At that time, the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok, who minister before me, are to be given a young bull for a sin offering, says the Sovereign LORD.
20 You will take some of its blood and smear it on the four horns of the altar, the four corners of the upper ledge, and the curb that runs around that ledge. This will cleanse and make atonement for the altar.
21 Then take the young bull for the sin offering and burn it at the appointed place outside the Temple area.
22 "On the second day, sacrifice as a sin offering a young male goat that has no physical defects. Then cleanse and make atonement for the altar again, just as you did with the young bull.
23 When you have finished the cleansing ceremony, offer another young bull that has no defects and a perfect ram from the flock.
24 You are to present them to the LORD, and the priests are to sprinkle salt on them and offer them as a burnt offering to the LORD.
25 "Every day for seven days a male goat, a young bull, and a ram from the flock will be sacrificed as a sin offering. None of these animals may have physical defects of any kind.
26 Do this each day for seven days to cleanse and make atonement for the altar, thus setting it apart for holy use.
27 On the eighth day, and on each day afterward, the priests will sacrifice on the altar the burnt offerings and peace offerings of the people. Then I will accept you. I, the Sovereign LORD, have spoken!"

3 And it was according to the appearance H4758 of the vision H4758 which H834 RPRO I saw H7200 VQQ1MS , even according to the vision H4758 that H834 RPRO I saw H7200 VQQ1MS when I came H935 to destroy H7843 L-VPFC the city H5892 D-GFS : and the visions H4759 were like the vision H4758 that H834 RPRO I saw H7200 VQQ1MS by H413 PREP the river H5104 Chebar H3529 ; and I fell H5307 upon H413 PREP my face H6440 .
4 And the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 EDS came H935 VQPMS into H413 PREP the house H1004 by the way H1870 NMS of the gate H8179 NMS whose H834 RPRO prospect H6440 CMP-3MS is toward H1870 NMS the east H6921 .
5 So the spirit H7307 NFS took me up H5375 , and brought H935 me into H413 PREP the inner H6442 court H2691 ; and , behold H2009 IJEC , the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 EDS filled H4390 VQQ3MS the house H1004 .
6 And I heard H8085 him speaking H1696 unto H413 PREP-1MS me out of the house H1004 ; and the man H376 W-NMS stood H1961 VQQ3MS by H681 me .
7 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , the place H4725 CMS of my throne H3678 , and the place H4725 CMS of the soles H3709 of my feet H7272 CFD-3MS , where H834 RPRO I will dwell H7931 in the midst H8432 B-NMS of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 forever H5769 L-NMS , and my holy H6944 name H8034 CMS , shall the house H1004 of Israel H3478 no H3808 W-NPAR more H5750 ADV defile H2930 , neither they H1992 PPRO-3MP , nor their kings H4428 , by their whoredom H2184 , nor by the carcasses H6297 of their kings H4428 in their high places H1116 .
8 In their setting H5414 of their threshold H5592 by H854 my thresholds H5592 , and their post H4201 by H681 my posts H4201 , and the wall H7023 between H996 W-PREP-1MS me and them , they have even defiled H2930 my holy H6944 name H8034 CMS by their abominations H8441 that H834 RPRO they have committed H6213 VQQ3MP : wherefore I have consumed H398 them in mine anger H639 B-CMS-1MS .
9 Now H6258 ADV let them put away H7368 their whoredom H2184 , and the carcasses H6297 of their kings H4428 , far from H4480 M-PREP-1MS me , and I will dwell H7931 in the midst H8432 of them forever H5769 .
10 Thou H859 PPRO-2MS son H1121 CMS of man H120 NMS , show H5046 VHI2MS the house H1004 to the house H1004 D-NMS of Israel H3478 , that they may be ashamed H3637 of their iniquities H5771 : and let them measure H4058 the pattern H8508 .
11 And if H518 they be ashamed H3637 of all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO they have done H6213 VQQ3MP , show H3045 them the form H6699 of the house H1004 D-NMS , and the fashion H8498 thereof , and the goings out H4161 thereof , and the comings in H4126 thereof , and all H3605 NMS the forms H6699 thereof , and all H3605 NMS the ordinances H2708 thereof , and all H3605 NMS the forms H6699 thereof , and all H3605 NMS the laws H8451 thereof : and write H3789 it in their sight H5869 , that they may keep H8104 the whole H3605 NMS form H6699 thereof , and all H3605 NMS the ordinances H2708 thereof , and do H6213 W-VQQ3MP them .
12 This H2063 DPRO is the law H8451 CFS of the house H1004 ; Upon H5921 PREP the top H7218 NMS of the mountain H2022 the whole H3605 NMS limit H1366 thereof round about H5439 ADV shall be most holy H6944 . Behold H2009 IJEC , this H2063 DPRO is the law H8451 CFS of the house H1004 .
13 And these H428 W-PMP are the measures H4060 of the altar H4196 D-NMS after the cubits H520 : The cubit H520 UFS is a cubit H520 UFS and a handbreadth H2948 ; even the bottom H2436 shall be a cubit H520 , and the breadth H7341 a cubit H520 , and the border H1366 thereof by H413 PREP the edge H8193 thereof round about H5439 ADV shall be a H259 span H2239 : and this H2088 W-PMS shall be the higher place H1354 of the altar H4196 .
14 And from the bottom H2436 upon the ground H776 D-GFS even to H5704 PREP the lower H8481 settle H5835 shall be two H8147 MFD cubits H520 , and the breadth H7341 W-CMS one H259 MFS cubit H520 UFS ; and from the lesser settle H5835 even to H5704 PREP the greater H1419 D-AFS settle H5835 shall be four H702 MFS cubits H520 , and the breadth H7341 W-CMS one cubit H520 .
15 So the altar H2025 shall be four H702 MFS cubits H520 ; and from the altar H741 and upward H4605 shall be four H702 horns H7161 .
16 And the altar H741 shall be twelve H8147 MFS cubits long H753 CMS , twelve H8147 broad H7341 , square H7251 in H413 PREP the four H702 squares H7253 thereof .
17 And the settle H5835 shall be fourteen H702 MFS cubits long H753 CMS and fourteen H702 B-BFS broad H7341 in H413 PREP the four H702 squares H7253 thereof ; and the border H1366 about H5439 ADV it shall be half H2677 a cubit H520 ; and the bottom H2436 thereof shall be a cubit H520 UFS about H5439 ADV ; and his stairs H4609 shall look H6437 toward the east H6921 .
18 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-1MS me , Son H1121 of man H120 NMS , thus H3541 saith H559 W-VQY3MS the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 ; These H428 PMP are the ordinances H2708 CFP of the altar H4196 D-NMS in the day H3117 B-NMS when they shall make H6213 it , to offer H5927 burnt offerings H5930 NFS thereon H5921 PREP-3MS , and to sprinkle H2236 blood H1818 NMS thereon H5921 PREP-3MS .
19 And thou shalt give H5414 to H413 PREP the priests H3548 the Levites H3881 that H834 RPRO be of the seed H2233 of Zadok H6659 , which approach H7138 unto H413 PREP me , to minister H8334 unto me , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 , a young H1121 bullock H6499 for a sin offering H2403 .
20 And thou shalt take H3947 of the blood H1818 thereof , and put H5414 it on H5921 PREP the four H702 MFS horns H7161 of it , and on H413 W-PREP the four H702 MFS corners H6438 CFP of the settle H5835 , and upon H413 W-PREP the border H1366 round about H5439 ADV : thus shalt thou cleanse H2398 and purge H3722 it .
21 Thou shalt take H3947 the bullock H6499 also of the sin offering H2403 , and he shall burn H8313 it in the appointed place H4662 of the house H1004 D-NMS , without H2351 the sanctuary H4720 .
22 And on the second H8145 D-ONUM day H3117 thou shalt offer H7126 a kid H8163 of the goats H5795 without blemish H8549 AMS for a sin offering H2403 ; and they shall cleanse H2398 the altar H4196 D-NMS , as H834 K-RPRO they did cleanse H2398 it with the bullock H6499 .
23 When thou hast made an end H3615 of cleansing H2398 it , thou shalt offer H7126 a young H1121 bullock H6499 without blemish H8549 AMS , and a ram H352 out of H4480 PREP the flock H6629 without blemish H8549 AMS .
24 And thou shalt offer H7126 them before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , and the priests H3548 shall cast H7993 salt H4417 NMS upon H5921 PREP-3MP them , and they shall offer them up H5927 for a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
25 Seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP shalt thou prepare H6213 VQY2MS every day H3117 a goat H8163 for a sin offering H2403 CFS : they shall also prepare H6213 a young H1121 bullock H6499 , and a ram H352 out of H4480 PREP the flock H6629 , without blemish H8549 .
26 Seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP shall they purge H3722 the altar H4196 D-NMS and purify H2891 it ; and they shall consecrate H4390 W-VQI2MP themselves .
27 And when these days H3117 D-NMP are expired H3615 , it shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that upon the eighth H8066 day H3117 , and so forward H1973 , the priests H3548 shall make H6213 your burnt offerings H5930 upon H5921 PREP the altar H4196 D-NMS , and your peace offerings H8002 ; and I will accept H7521 you , saith H5002 the Lord H136 EDS GOD H3069 .
