Genesis 10 (NLT) New Living Translation

1 This is the account of the families of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the three sons of Noah. Many children were born to them after the great flood.
2 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3 The descendants of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4 The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
5 Their descendants became the seafaring peoples that spread out to various lands, each identified by its own language, clan, and national identity.
6 The descendants of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7 The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8 Cush was also the ancestor of Nimrod, who was the first heroic warrior on earth.
9 Since he was the greatest hunter in the world, his name became proverbial. People would say, "This man is like Nimrod, the greatest hunter in the world."
10 He built his kingdom in the land of Babylonia, with the cities of Babylon, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh.
11 From there he expanded his territory to Assyria, building the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah,
12 and Resen (the great city located between Nineveh and Calah).
13 Mizraim was the ancestor of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,
14 Pathrusites, Casluhites, and the Caphtorites, from whom the Philistines came.
15 Canaan's oldest son was Sidon, the ancestor of the Sidonians. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Hittites,
16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,
17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18 Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. The Canaanite clans eventually spread out,
19 and the territory of Canaan extended from Sidon in the north to Gerar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, near Lasha.
20 These were the descendants of Ham, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity.
21 Sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth. Shem was the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
22 The descendants of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23 The descendants of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.
25 Eber had two sons. The first was named Peleg (which means "division"), for during his lifetime the people of the world were divided into different language groups. His brother's name was Joktan.
26 Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29 Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were descendants of Joktan.
30 The territory they occupied extended from Mesha all the way to Sephar in the eastern mountains.
31 These were the descendants of Shem, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity.
32 These are the clans that descended from Noah's sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.

5 By these H428 M-PMP were the isles H339 CMP of the Gentiles H1471 D-NMP divided H6504 VNQ3MP in their lands H776 B-CFP-3MP ; every one H376 NMS after his tongue H3956 L-CMS-3MS , after their families H4940 L-CFP-3MP , in their nations H1471 B-CMP-3MP .
6 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Ham H2526 NAME-3MS ; Cush H3568 EMS , and Mizraim H4714 W-EMS , and Phut H6316 W-EMS , and Canaan H3667 W-EMS .
7 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Cush H3568 EMS ; Seba H5434 EMS , and Havilah H2341 W-EMS , and Sabtah H5454 W-EMS , and Raamah H7484 W-EMS , and Sabtecha H5455 W-EMS : and the sons H1121 W-CMP of Raamah H7484 W-EMS ; Sheba H7614 W-EMS , and Dedan H1719 W-EMS .

18 And the Arvadite H721 D-TMS , and the Zemarite H6786 D-TMS , and the Hamathite H2577 D-TMS : and afterward H310 W-ADV were the families H4940 CFP of the Canaanites H3669 D-TMS spread abroad H6327 VNQ3MP .
19 And the border H1366 CMS of the Canaanites H3669 D-TMS was H1961 W-VPY3MS from Sidon H6721 M-LFS , as thou comest H935 VQFC-2MS to Gerar H1642 M-LFS , unto H5704 PREP Gaza H5804 LFS ; as thou goest H935 VQFC-2MS , unto Sodom H5467 LFS , and Gomorrah H6017 W-LFS , and Admah H126 W-LFS , and Zeboim H6636 W-LFS , even unto H5704 PREP Lasha H3962 LFS .

21 Unto Shem H8035 WL-EMS also the father H1 CMS-1MS of all H3605 NMS the children H1121 of Eber H5677 EMS , the brother H251 CMS of Japheth H3315 EMS the elder H1419 D-AMS , even H1571 CONJ to him H1931 PPRO-3MS were children born H3205 VWQ3MS .
22 The children H1121 of Shem H8035 NAME-3MS ; Elam H5867 EMS , and Asshur H804 W-EMS , and Arphaxad H775 W-EMS , and Lud H3865 W-EMS , and Aram H758 W-EMS .
23 And the children H1121 W-CMP of Aram H758 EMS ; Uz H5780 EMS , and Hul H2343 W-EMS , and Gether H1666 W-EMS , and Mash H4851 W-EMS .
24 And Arphaxad H775 W-EMS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Salah H7974 EMS ; and Salah H7974 W-EMS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Eber H5677 EMS .
25 And unto Eber H5677 WL-EMS were born H3205 VWQ3MS two H8147 ONUM sons H1121 NMP : the name H8034 CMS of one H259 D-MMS was Peleg H6389 EMS ; for H3588 CONJ in his days H3117 B-CMP-3MS was the earth H776 D-GFS divided H6385 VNQ3FS ; and his brother H251 CMS-3MS \'s name H8034 W-CMS was Joktan H3355 EMS .
26 And Joktan H3355 W-EMS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Almodad H486 EMS , and Sheleph H8026 EMS , and Hazarmaveth H2700 EMS , and Jerah H3392 EMS ,
27 And Hadoram H1913 EMS , and Uzal H187 EMS , and Diklah H1853 EMS ,
28 And Obal H5745 EMS , and Abimael H39 EMS , and Sheba H7614 EMS ,
29 And Ophir H211 EMS , and Havilah H2341 EMS , and Jobab H3103 EMS : all H3605 NMS these H428 PMP were the sons H1121 of Joktan H3355 EMS .
30 And their dwelling H4186 CMS-3MP was H1961 W-VPY3MS from Mesha H4852 M-LFS , as thou goest H935 VQFC-2MS unto Sephar H5611 LFS a mount H2022 CMS of the east H6924 D-NMS .
31 These H428 PMP are the sons H1121 CMP of Shem H8035 NAME-3MS , after their families H4940 L-CFP-3MP , after their tongues H3956 L-GFS-3MP , in their lands H776 B-CFP-3MP , after their nations H1471 L-CMP-3MP .
