Leviticus 23:9 (RSV) Revised Standard Version

1 The LORD said to Moses,
2 "Say to the people of Israel, The appointed feasts of the LORD which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, my appointed feasts, are these.
3 Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work; it is a sabbath to the LORD in all your dwellings.
4 "These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, the holy convocations, which you shall proclaim at the time appointed for them.
5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is the LORD's passover.
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to the LORD; seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.
7 On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work.
8 But you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD seven days; on the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work."
9 And the LORD said to Moses,
10 "Say to the people of Israel, When you come into the land which I give you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest;
11 and he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, that you may find acceptance; on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
12 And on the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a male lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering to the LORD.
13 And the cereal offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, to be offered by fire to the LORD, a pleasing odor; and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a fourth of a hin.
14 And you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
15 "And you shall count from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven full weeks shall they be,
16 counting fifty days to the morrow after the seventh sabbath; then you shall present a cereal offering of new grain to the LORD.
17 You shall bring from your dwellings two loaves of bread to be waved, made of two tenths of an ephah; they shall be of fine flour, they shall be baked with leaven, as first fruits to the LORD.
18 And you shall present with the bread seven lambs a year old without blemish, and one young bull, and two rams; they shall be a burnt offering to the LORD, with their cereal offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire, a pleasing odor to the LORD.
19 And you shall offer one male goat for a sin offering, and two male lambs a year old as a sacrifice of peace offerings.
20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the first fruits as a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs; they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.
21 And you shall make proclamation on the same day; you shall hold a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work: it is a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
22 "And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field to its very border, nor shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest; you shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger: I am the LORD your God."
23 And the LORD said to Moses,
24 "Say to the people of Israel, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation.
25 You shall do no laborious work; and you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD."
26 And the LORD said to Moses,
27 "On the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present an offering by fire to the LORD.
28 And you shall do no work on this same day; for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.
29 For whoever is not afflicted on this same day shall be cut off from his people.
30 And whoever does any work on this same day, that person I will destroy from among his people.
31 You shall do no work: it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
32 It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves; on the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your sabbath."
33 And the LORD said to Moses,
34 "Say to the people of Israel, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the feast of booths to the LORD.
35 On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work.
36 Seven days you shall present offerings by fire to the LORD; on the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is a solemn assembly; you shall do no laborious work.
37 "These are the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the LORD offerings by fire, burnt offerings and cereal offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day;
38 besides the sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts, and besides all your votive offerings, and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to the LORD.
39 "On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD seven days; on the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest.
40 And you shall take on the first day the fruit of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
41 You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD seven days in the year; it is a statute for ever throughout your generations; you shall keep it in the seventh month.
42 You shall dwell in booths for seven days; all that are native in Israel shall dwell in booths,
43 that your generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."
44 Thus Moses declared to the people of Israel the appointed feasts of the LORD.

3 Six H8337 days H3117 NMP shall work H4399 be done H6213 : but the seventh H7637 D-ONUM day H3117 is the sabbath H7676 of rest H7677 , a holy H6944 convocation H4744 ; ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV work H4399 therein : it H1931 PPRO-3FS is the sabbath H7676 of the LORD H3068 L-EDS in all H3605 NMS your dwellings H4186 .
4 These H428 PMP are the feasts H4150 of the LORD H3068 EDS , even holy H6944 convocations H4744 , which H834 RPRO ye shall proclaim H7121 in their seasons H4150 .
5 In the fourteenth H702 day of the first H7223 month H2320 BD-NMS at H996 PREP even H6153 is the LORD H3068 \'s passover H6453 .
6 And on the fifteenth H2568 day H3117 NMS of the same H2088 D-PMS month H2320 LD-NMS is the feast H2282 of unleavened bread H4682 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS : seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NUM-MS ye must eat H398 unleavened bread H4682 .
7 In the first H7223 day H3117 B-AMS ye shall have H1961 VQY3MS a holy H6944 convocation H4744 : ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein .
8 But ye shall offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP : in the seventh H7637 D-ONUM day H3117 B-AMS is a holy H6944 convocation H4744 : ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein .
9 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
10 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and say H559 unto H413 PREP them , When H3588 CONJ ye be come H935 into H413 PREP the land H776 D-GFS which H834 RPRO I H589 PPRO-1MS give H5414 VQPMS unto you , and shall reap H7114 the harvest H7105 thereof , then ye shall bring H935 a sheaf H6016 of the firstfruits H7225 CFS of your harvest H7105 unto H413 PREP the priest H3548 :
11 And he shall wave H5130 the sheaf H6016 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , to be accepted H7522 for you : on the morrow H4283 after the sabbath H7676 the priest H3548 shall wave H5130 it .
12 And ye shall offer H6213 that day H3117 B-NMS when ye wave H5130 the sheaf H6016 a he lamb H3532 without blemish H8549 AMS of the first H1121 year H8141 for a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD H3068 .
13 And the meat offering H4503 thereof shall be two H8147 ONUM tenth deals H6241 of fine flour H5560 mingled H1101 with oil H8081 , an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS for a sweet H5207 savor H7381 CMS : and the drink offering H5262 thereof shall be of wine H3196 NMS , the fourth H7243 part of a hin H1969 .
14 And ye shall eat H398 VQY2MP neither H3808 NADV bread H3899 , nor parched corn H7039 , nor green ears H3759 , until H5704 PREP the selfsame H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS that H5704 PREP ye have brought H935 an offering H7133 unto your God H430 : it shall be a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS throughout your generations H1755 in all H3605 your dwellings H4186 .
15 And ye shall count H5608 unto you from the morrow H4283 after the sabbath H7676 , from the day H3117 M-NMS that ye brought H935 the sheaf H6016 of the wave offering H8573 ; seven H7651 MFS sabbaths H7676 shall be H1961 complete H8549 :
16 Even unto H5704 PREP the morrow H4283 after the seventh H7637 sabbath H7676 shall ye number H5608 fifty H2572 MMP days H3117 NMS ; and ye shall offer H7126 a new H2319 meat offering H4503 NFS unto the LORD H3068 .
17 Ye shall bring H935 out of your habitations H4186 two H8147 MFD wave H8573 loaves H3899 NMS of two H8147 ONUM tenth deals H6241 : they shall be H1961 of fine flour H5560 ; they shall be baked H644 with leaven H2557 ; they are the firstfruits H1061 unto the LORD H3068 L-EMS .
18 And ye shall offer H7126 with H5921 PREP the bread H3899 seven H7651 RMS lambs H3532 without blemish H8549 of the first H1121 year H8141 NFS , and one H259 MMS young H1121 bullock H6499 , and two H8147 rams H352 : they shall be H1961 VQY3MP for a burnt offering H5930 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , with their meat offering H4503 , and their drink offerings H5262 , even an offering made by fire H801 , of sweet H5207 savor H7381 unto the LORD H3068 .
19 Then ye shall sacrifice H6213 one H259 MMS kid H8163 of the goats H5795 for a sin offering H2403 , and two H8147 lambs H3532 of the first H1121 year H8141 NFS for a sacrifice H2077 of peace offerings H8002 .
20 And the priest H3548 shall wave H5130 them with H5921 PREP the bread H3899 NMS of the firstfruits H1061 for a wave offering H8573 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , with H5921 PREP the two H8147 ONUM lambs H3532 : they shall be H1961 VQY3MP holy H6944 to the LORD H3068 L-EDS for the priest H3548 .
21 And ye shall proclaim H7121 on the selfsame H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS , that it may be H1961 VQY3MS a holy H6944 convocation H4744 unto you : ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein : it shall be a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS in all H3605 NMS your dwellings H4186 throughout your generations H1755 .
22 And when ye reap H7114 the harvest H7105 of your land H776 , thou shalt not H3808 ADV make clean riddance H3615 of the corners H6285 of thy field H7704 when thou reapest H7114 , neither H3808 NADV shalt thou gather H3950 any gleaning H3951 of thy harvest H7105 : thou shalt leave H5800 VQY2MS them unto the poor H6041 , and to the stranger H1616 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
23 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
24 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , saying H559 L-VQFC , In the seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS , in the first H259 B-NMS day of the month H2320 LD-NMS , shall ye have H1961 VQY3MS a sabbath H7677 , a memorial H2146 of blowing of trumpets H8643 , a holy H6944 convocation H4744 .
25 Ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein : but ye shall offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 .
26 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
27 Also H389 ADV on the tenth H6218 day of this H2088 D-PMS seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 LD-NMS there shall be a day H3117 NMS of atonement H3725 : it shall be H1961 VQY3MS a holy H6944 convocation H4744 unto you ; and ye shall afflict H6031 your souls H5315 , and offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 .
28 And ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV work H4399 in that H2088 D-PMS same H6106 B-CFS day H3117 NUM-MS : for H3588 CONJ it H1931 PPRO-3MS is a day H3117 NMS of atonement H3725 , to make an atonement H3722 for H5921 PREP-2MP you before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
29 For H3588 CONJ whatsoever H3605 CMS soul H5315 D-NFS it be that H834 RPRO shall not H3808 ADV be afflicted H6031 in that H2088 D-PMS same H6106 B-CFS day H3117 D-AMS , he shall be cut off H3772 from among his people H5971 .
30 And whatsoever H3605 NMS soul H5315 D-NFS it be that H834 RPRO doeth H6213 VQY2MS any H3605 NMS work H4399 in that H2088 D-PMS same H6106 B-CFS day H3117 D-AMS , the same H1931 D-PPRO-3FS soul H5315 D-NFS will I destroy H6 from among H7130 his people H5971 .
31 Ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV manner H3605 NMS of work H4399 : it shall be a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS throughout your generations H1755 in all H3605 NMS your dwellings H4186 .
32 It H1931 PPRO-3MS shall be unto you a sabbath H7676 of rest H7677 , and ye shall afflict H6031 your souls H5315 : in the ninth H8672 day of the month H2320 LD-NMS at even H6153 NUM-MS , from even H6153 NUM-MS unto H5704 PREP even H6153 NUM-MS , shall ye celebrate H7673 your sabbath H7676 .
33 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
34 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , saying H559 L-VQFC , The fifteenth H2568 day H3117 NMS of this H2088 D-PMS seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 LD-NMS shall be the feast H2282 of tabernacles H5521 for seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NUM-MS unto the LORD H3068 .
35 On the first H7223 day H3117 B-AMS shall be a holy H6944 convocation H4744 : ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein .
36 Seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP ye shall offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS : on the eighth H8066 day H3117 B-AMS shall be H1961 VQY3MS a holy H6944 convocation H4744 unto you ; and ye shall offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS : it H1931 PPRO-3FS is a solemn assembly H6116 ; and ye shall do H6213 no H3808 NADV servile H5656 work H4399 therein .
37 These H428 PMP are the feasts H4150 of the LORD H3068 EDS , which H834 RPRO ye shall proclaim H7121 to be holy H6944 convocations H4744 , to offer H7126 an offering made by fire H801 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS , a burnt offering H5930 , and a meat offering H4503 , a sacrifice H2077 NMS , and drink offerings H5262 , every thing H1697 CMS upon his day H3117 NMS :
38 Beside H905 ML-NMS the sabbaths H7676 of the LORD H3068 , and beside H905 ML-NMS your gifts H4979 , and beside H905 ML-NMS all H3605 NMS your vows H5088 , and beside H905 ML-NMS all H3605 NMS your freewill offerings H5071 , which H834 RPRO ye give H5414 unto the LORD H3068 .
39 Also H389 ADV in the fifteenth H2568 day H3117 NMS of the seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 LD-NMS , when ye have gathered in the fruit H8393 of the land H776 D-GFS , ye shall keep H2287 a feast H2282 unto the LORD H3068 EDS seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NUM-MS : on the first H7223 day H3117 BD-NMS shall be a sabbath H7677 , and on the eighth H8066 day H3117 NUM-MS shall be a sabbath H7677 .
40 And ye shall take H3947 you on the first H7223 day H3117 B-AMS the boughs H6529 NMS of goodly H1926 trees H6086 NMS , branches H3709 of palm trees H8558 , and the boughs H6057 of thick H5687 trees H6086 NMS , and willows H6155 of the brook H5158 NMS ; and ye shall rejoice H8055 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP .
41 And ye shall keep H2287 it a feast H2282 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP in the year H8141 . It shall be a statute H2708 forever H5769 NMS in your generations H1755 : ye shall celebrate H2287 it in the seventh H7637 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS .
42 Ye shall dwell H3427 in booths H5521 seven H7651 RMS days H3117 NMP ; all H3605 NMS that are Israelites H3478 born H249 shall dwell H3427 VQY3MP in booths H5521 :
43 That H4616 L-CONJ your generations H1755 may know H3045 that H3588 CONJ I made the children H1121 of Israel H3478 to dwell H3427 in booths H5521 , when I brought them out H3318 of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 : I H589 PPRO-1MS am the LORD H3068 EDS your God H430 .
44 And Moses H4872 declared H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS the feasts H4150 of the LORD H3068 EDS .
