1 சர்வவல்லவருக்குக் காலங்கள் மறைக்கப்படாதிருக்க, அவரை அறிந்தவர்கள் அவர் நியமித்த நாட்களை அறியாதிருக்கிறதென்ன?
2 சிலர் எல்லைக்குறிப்புகளை ஒற்றி, மந்தைகளைப் பலாத்காரமாய்ச் சாய்த்துக்கொண்டுபோய் பட்சிக்கிறார்கள்.
3 தாய் தகப்பன் இல்லாதவர்களின் கழுதையை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், விதவையின் மாட்டை ஈடாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.
4 தேசத்தில் சிறுமைப்பட்டவர்கள் ஏகமாய் ஒளித்துக்கொள்ளத்தக்கதாக, எளிமையானவர்களை வழியை விட்டு விலக்குகிறார்கள்.
5 இதோ, அவர்கள் காட்டுக்கழுதைகளைப்போல இரைதேட அதிகாலமே தங்கள் வேலைக்குப் புறப்படுகிறார்கள்; வனாந்தரவெளிதான் அவர்களுக்கும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் ஆகாரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.
6 துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வயலில் அவர்கள் அவனுக்காக அறுப்பு அறுத்து, அவனுடைய திராட்சத்தோட்டத்தின் பழங்களைச் சேர்க்கிறார்கள்.
7 குளிரிலே போர்த்துக்கொள்ளுகிறதற்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லாததினால், வஸ்திரமில்லாமல் இராத்தங்கி,
8 மலைகளிலிருந்துவரும் மழைகளிலே நனைந்து, ஒதுக்கிடமில்லாததினால் கன்மலையிலே அண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.
9 அவர்களோ தகப்பனில்லாத பிள்ளையை முலையைவிட்டுப் பறித்து, தரித்திரன் போர்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதை அடகுவாங்குகிறார்கள்.
10 அவனை வஸ்திரமில்லாமல் நடக்கவும், பட்டினியாய் அரிக்கட்டுகளைச் சுமக்கவும்,
11 தங்கள் மதில்களுக்குள்ளே செக்காட்டவும், தாகத்தவனமாய் ஆலையாட்டவும் பண்ணுகிறார்கள்.
12 ஊரில் மனுஷர் தவிக்கிறார்கள், குற்றுயிராய்க் கிடக்கிறவர்களின் ஆத்துமா கூப்பிடுகிறது; என்றாலும், தேவன் அதைக் குற்றமாக அவர்கள்மேல் சுமத்துகிறதில்லை.
13 அவர்கள் வெளிச்சத்துக்கு விரோதமாய் நடக்கிறவர்களின் கூட்டத்தார்; அவர்கள் அவருடைய வழிகளை அறியாமலும், அவருடைய பாதைகளில் தரிக்காமலும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
14 கொலைபாதகன் பொழுது விடிகிறபோது எழுந்து, சிறுமையும் எளிமையுமானவனைக் கொன்று, இராக்காலத்திலே திருடனைப்போல் திரிகிறான்.
15 விபசாரனுடைய கண் மாலைமயங்குகிற வேளைக்குக் காத்திருந்து: என்னை ஒரு கண்ணும் காணமாட்டாதென்று முகத்தை மூடிக்கொள்ளுகிறான்.
16 அவர்கள் பகலில் அடையாளம் பார்த்த வீடுகளை இருட்டிலே கன்னமிடுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் வெளிச்சத்தை அறியார்கள்.
17 விடியுங்காலமும் அவர்களுக்கு மரண இருள்போல் இருக்கிறது; அப்படிப்பட்டவன் மரண இருளின் பயங்கரத்தோடு பழகியிருக்கிறான்.
18 நீரோட்டத்தைப்போல் தீவிரமாய்ப் போவான்; தேசத்தில் அவன் பங்கு சபிக்கப்பட்டுப் போகிறதினால், அவன் திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களின் வழியை இனிக் காண்பதில்லை.
19 வறட்சியும் உஷ்ணமும் உறைந்த மழையைப் பட்சிக்கும்; அப்படியே பாதாளமானது பாவிகளைப் பட்சிக்கும்.
20 அவனைப் பெற்ற கர்ப்பம் அவனை மறக்கும்; புழு திருப்திகரமாய் அவனைத் தின்னும்; அவன் அப்புறம் நினைக்கப்படுவதில்லை; அக்கிரமமானது பட்டமரத்தைப்போல முறிந்துவிழும்.
21 பிள்ளைபெறாத மலடியின் ஆஸ்தியைப் பட்சித்துவிட்டு, விதவைக்கு நன்மை செய்யாதேபோகிறான்.
22 தன் பலத்தினாலே வல்லவர்களைத் தன் பாரிசமாக்குகிறான்; அவன் எழும்புகிறபோது ஒருவனுக்கும் பிராணனைப்பற்றி நிச்சயமில்லை.
23 தேவன் அவனுக்குச் சுகவாழ்வைக் கட்டளையிட்டால், அதின்மேல் உறுதியாய் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கிறான்; ஆனாலும் அவருடைய கண்கள் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களின் வழிகளுக்கு விரோதமாயிருக்கிறது.
24 அவர்கள் கொஞ்சக்காலம் உயர்ந்திருந்து, காணாமற்போய், தாழ்த்தப்பட்டு, மற்ற எல்லாரைப்போலும் அடக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்; கதிர்களின் நுனியைப்போல அறுக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
25 அப்படியில்லையென்று என்னைப் பொய்யனாக்கி, என் வார்த்தைகளை வியர்த்தமாக்கத்தக்கவன் யார் என்றான்.
