Genesis 40:10 (WEB) World English Bible

1 It happened after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord, the king of Egypt.
2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker.
3 He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
4 The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.
5 They both dreamed a dream, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.
6 Joseph came in to them in the morning, and saw them, and saw that they were sad.
7 He asked Pharaoh's officers who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, "Why do you look so sad today?"
8 They said to him, "We have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it." Joseph said to them, "Don't interpretations belong to God? Please tell it to me."
9 The chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, "In my dream, behold, a vine was in front of me,
10 and in the vine were three branches. It was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters of it brought forth ripe grapes.
11 Pharaoh's cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand."
12 Joseph said to him, "This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days.
13 Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cupbearer.
14 But remember me when it will be well with you, and show kindness, please, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.
15 For indeed, I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon."
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, "I also was in my dream, and, behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head.
17 In the uppermost basket there was all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head."
18 Joseph answered, "This is the interpretation of it. The three baskets are three days.
19 Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head from off you, and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from off you."
20 It happened the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants, and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants.
21 He restored the chief cupbearer to his position again, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand;
22 but he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them.
23 Yet the chief cupbearer didn't remember Joseph, but forgot him.

2 And Pharaoh H6547 EMS was wroth H7107 against H5921 PREP two H8147 ONUM of his officers H5631 , against H5921 PREP the chief H8269 of the butlers H4945 , and against H5921 PREP the chief H8269 of the bakers H644 .
3 And he put H5414 W-VQQ3MS them in ward H4929 in the house H1004 CMS of the captain H8269 of the guard H2876 , into H413 PREP the prison H1004 CMS , the place H4725 CMS where H834 RPRO Joseph H3130 was bound H631 .
4 And the captain H8269 of the guard H2876 charged H6485 Joseph H3130 with H854 PREP-3MP them , and he served H8334 them : and they continued H1961 W-VQY3MP a season H3117 NMP in ward H4929 .
5 And they dreamed H2492 a dream H2472 both H8147 ONUM-3MP of them , each man H376 his dream H2472 in one H259 MMS night H3915 , each man H376 according to the interpretation H6623 of his dream H2472 , the butler H4945 and the baker H644 of the king H4428 L-CMS of Egypt H4714 EFS , which H834 RPRO were bound H631 VWPMP in the prison H1004 B-CMS .
6 And Joseph H3130 came in H935 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MP them in the morning H1242 B-NMS , and looked upon H7200 W-VIY3MS them , and , behold H2009 , they were sad H2196 .
7 And he asked H7592 W-VQY3MS Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s officers H5631 that H834 RPRO were with H854 PREP-3MS him in the ward H4929 of his lord H113 \'s house H1004 CMS , saying H559 L-VQFC , Wherefore H4069 IPRO look H6440 CMP-2MP ye so sadly H7451 AMP today H3117 D-NMS ?
8 And they said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , We have dreamed H2492 a dream H2472 , and there is no H369 NPAR interpreter H6622 of it . And Joseph H3130 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS them , Do not H3808 D-NPAR interpretations H6623 belong to God H430 ? tell H5608 me them , I pray you H4994 IJEC .
9 And the chief H8269 butler H4945 told H5608 his dream H2472 to Joseph H3130 , and said H559 W-VQY3MS to him , In my dream H2472 , behold H2009 IJEC , a vine H1612 was before H6440 L-CMP-1MS me ;
10 And in the vine H1612 were three H7969 NFS branches H8299 : and it was as though it budded H6524 , and her H1931 blossoms H5322 shot forth H5927 VQQ3FS ; and the clusters H811 thereof brought forth H1310 ripe grapes H6025 :
11 And Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s cup H3563 was in my hand H3027 B-CFS-1MS : and I took H3947 the grapes H6025 , and pressed H7818 them into H413 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s cup H3563 , and I gave H5414 the cup H3563 into H5921 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s hand H3709 .
12 And Joseph H3130 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , This H2088 DPRO is the interpretation H6623 of it : The three H7969 BMS branches H8299 are three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP :
13 Yet H5750 B-ADV within three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP shall Pharaoh H6547 EMS lift up H5375 VQY3MS thine head H7218 , and restore H7725 thee unto H5921 PREP thy place H3653 : and thou shalt deliver H5414 Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s cup H3563 into his hand H3027 B-CFS-3MS , after the former H7223 manner H4941 when H834 RPRO thou wast H1961 VQQ2MS his butler H4945 .
14 But H518 PART think on H2142 me when H834 K-RPRO it shall be well H3190 with thee , and show H6213 kindness H2617 NMS , I pray thee H4994 IJEC , unto H5973 me , and make mention H2142 of me unto H413 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS , and bring me out H3318 of H4480 PREP this H2088 D-PMS house H1004 D-NMS :
15 For H3588 CONJ indeed I was stolen away H1589 out of the land H776 M-NFS of the Hebrews H5680 : and here H6311 ADV also H1571 W-CONJ have I done H6213 nothing H3808 NADV that H3588 CONJ they should put H7760 VQQ3MP me into the dungeon H953 .
16 When the chief H8269 baker H644 saw H7200 W-VIY3MS that H3588 CONJ the interpretation H6622 was good H2896 AMS , he said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Joseph H3130 , I H589 PPRO-1MS also H637 CONJ was in my dream H2472 , and , behold H2009 IJEC , I had three H7969 NFS white H2751 baskets H5536 on H5921 PREP my head H7218 CMS-1MS :
17 And in the uppermost H5945 basket H5536 there was of all manner H3605 M-CMS of bakedmeats H3978 CMS for Pharaoh H6547 EMS ; and the birds H5775 W-NMS did eat H398 them out of H4480 PREP the basket H5536 upon H5921 M-PREP my head H7218 CMS-1MS .
18 And Joseph H3130 answered H6030 W-VQY3MS and said H559 W-VQY3MS , This H2088 DPRO is the interpretation H6623 thereof : The three H7969 BMS baskets H5536 are three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP :
19 Yet H5750 B-ADV within three H7969 BMS days H3117 NMP shall Pharaoh H6547 EMS lift up H5375 VQY3MS thy head H7218 from off H5921 PREP thee , and shall hang H8518 thee on H5921 PREP a tree H6086 NMS ; and the birds H5775 D-NMS shall eat H398 W-VQQ3MS thy flesh H1320 from off H5921 PREP thee .
20 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS the third H7992 D-ONUM day H3117 BD-NMS , which was Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s birthday H3117 NMS , that he made H6213 W-VQY3MS a feast H4960 NMS unto all H3605 L-CMS his servants H5650 : and he lifted up H5375 W-VQY3MS the head H7218 NMS of the chief H8269 butler H4945 and of the chief H8269 baker H644 among H8432 B-NMS his servants H5650 .
21 And he restored H7725 W-VHY3MS the chief H8269 butler H4945 unto H5921 PREP his butlership H4945 again ; and he gave H5414 W-VQQ3MS the cup H3563 into H5921 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS \'s hand H3709 :
22 But he hanged H8518 the chief H8269 baker H644 : as H834 K-RPRO Joseph H3130 had interpreted H6622 to them .
23 Yet did not H3808 W-NPAR the chief H8269 butler H4945 remember H2142 Joseph H3130 , but forgot H7911 him .
