Revelation 13:9 (YLT) Young's Literal Translation

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and I saw out of the sea a beast coming up, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads a name of evil speaking,
2 and the beast that I saw was like to a leopard, and its feet as of a bear, and its mouth as the mouth of a lion, and the dragon did give to it his power, and his throne, and great authority.
3 And I saw one of its heads as slain to death, and its deadly stroke was healed, and all the earth did wonder after the beast,
4 and they did bow before the dragon who did give authority to the beast, and they did bow before the beast, saying, `Who is like to the beast? who is able to war with it?`
5 And there was given to it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was given to it authority to make war forty-two months,
6 and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,
7 and there was given to it to make war with the saints, and to overcome them, and there was given to it authority over every tribe, and tongue, and nation.
8 And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world;
9 if any one hath an ear -- let him hear:
10 if any one a captivity doth gather, into captivity he doth go away; if any one by sword doth kill, it behoveth him by sword to be killed; here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.
11 And I saw another beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and it was speaking as a dragon,
12 and all the authority of the first beast doth it do before it, and it maketh the land and those dwelling in it that they shall bow before the first beast, whose deadly stroke was healed,
13 and it doth great signs, that fire also it may make to come down from the heaven to the earth before men,
14 and it leadeth astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that hath the stroke of the sword and did live,
15 and there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, that also the image of the beast may speak, and that it may cause as many as shall not bow before the image of the beast, that they may be killed.
16 And it maketh all, the small, and the great, and the rich, and the poor, and the freemen, and the servants, that it may give to them a mark upon their right hand or upon their foreheads,
17 and that no one may be able to buy, or to sell, except he who is having the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is the wisdom! He who is having the understanding, let him count the number of the beast, for the number of a man it is, and its number is 666.

2 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSN beast G2342 N-NSN which G3739 R-ASN I saw G1492 V-2AAI-1S was G2258 V-IXI-3S like unto G3664 A-NSN a leopard G3917 N-DSF , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NPM feet G4228 N-NPM were as G5613 ADV the feet of a bear G715 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NSN mouth G4750 N-NSN as G5613 ADV the mouth G4750 N-NSN of a lion G3023 N-GSM : and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM dragon G1404 N-NSM gave G1325 V-AAI-3S him G846 P-GSN his G3588 T-ASF power G1411 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-ASM seat G2362 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ great G3173 A-ASF authority G1849 N-ASF .
3 And G2532 CONJ I saw G1492 one G3391 of G3588 T-GPF his G3588 T-GPF heads G2776 N-GPF as it were G5613 wounded G4969 V-RPP-ASF to G1519 PREP death G2288 N-ASM ; and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-GSM deadly G2288 N-GSM wound G4127 N-NSF was healed G2323 V-API-3S : and G2532 CONJ all G3650 A-NSF the G3588 T-NSF world G1093 N-NSF wondered G2296 V-AAI-3S after G3694 ADV the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN .
4 And G2532 CONJ they worshiped G4352 V-AAI-3P the G3588 T-DSM dragon G1404 N-DSM which G3588 T-DSM gave G1325 V-RAP-DSM power G1849 N-ASF unto the G3588 T-DSN beast G2342 N-DSN : and G2532 CONJ they worshiped G4352 V-AAI-3P the G3588 T-DSN beast G2342 N-DSN , saying G3004 V-PAP-NPM , Who G5101 I-NSM is like unto G3664 A-NSM the G3588 T-DSN beast G2342 N-DSN ? who G5101 I-NSM is able G1410 to make war G4170 V-AAN with G3326 PREP him G846 P-GSN ?
5 And G2532 CONJ there was given G1325 V-API-3S unto him G846 P-DSN a mouth G4750 N-NSN speaking G2980 V-PAP-NSN great things G3173 A-APN and G2532 CONJ blasphemies G988 N-ASF ; and G2532 CONJ power G1849 N-NSF was given G1325 V-API-3S unto him G846 P-DSN to continue G4160 V-AAN forty and two G5062 A-NUI months G3376 N-APM .
6 And G2532 CONJ he opened G455 V-AAI-3S his G3588 T-ASN mouth G4750 N-ASN in G1519 PREP blasphemy G988 N-ASF against G4314 PREP God G2316 N-ASM , to blaspheme G987 V-AAN his G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-ASF tabernacle G4633 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ them G3588 T-APM that G3588 T-APM dwell G4637 V-PAP-APM in G1722 PREP heaven G3772 N-DSM .
7 And G2532 CONJ it was given G1325 V-API-3S unto him G846 P-DSN to make G4160 V-AAN war G4171 N-ASM with G3326 PREP the G3588 T-GPM saints G40 A-GPM , and G2532 CONJ to overcome G3528 V-AAN them G846 P-APM : and G2532 CONJ power G1849 N-NSF was given G1325 V-API-3S him G846 P-DSN over G1909 PREP all G3956 A-ASF kindreds G5443 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ tongues G1100 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ nations G1484 N-ASN .
8 And G2532 CONJ all G3956 A-NPM that dwell G2730 V-PAP-NPM upon G1909 PREP the G3588 T-GSF earth G1093 N-GSF shall worship G4352 V-FAI-3P him G846 P-DSN , whose G3739 R-GPM names G3686 N-NSN are not G3756 PRT-N written G1125 V-RPI-3S in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-GSF book G976 of life G2222 N-GSF of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN Lamb G721 N-GSN slain G4969 V-RPP-GSN from G575 PREP the foundation G2602 N-GSF of the world G2889 N-GSM .
9 If any man G1536 have G2192 V-PAI-3S an ear G3775 N-ASN , let him hear G191 V-AAM-3S .
10 He that G1536 leadeth into G4863 captivity G161 N-ASF shall go G5217 V-PAI-3S into G1519 captivity G161 N-ASF : he that G1536 killeth G615 V-PAI-3S with G1722 PREP the sword G3162 N-DSF must G1163 V-PQI-3S be G846 P-ASM killed G615 V-APN with G1722 PREP the sword G3162 N-DSF . Here G5602 ADV is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-NSF patience G5281 N-NSF and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF faith G4102 N-NSF of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM saints G40 A-GPM .
11 And G2532 CONJ I beheld G1492 V-2AAI-1S another G243 A-ASN beast G2342 N-ASN coming up G305 V-PAP-ASN out of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSF earth G1093 N-GSF ; and G2532 CONJ he had G2192 V-IAI-3S two G1417 A-NUI horns G2768 N-APN like G3664 A-APN a lamb G721 N-DSN , and G2532 CONJ he spake G2980 V-IAI-3S as G5613 ADV a dragon G1404 N-NSM .
12 And G2532 CONJ he exerciseth G4160 V-PAI-3S all G3956 A-ASF the G3588 T-ASF power G1849 N-ASF of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN first G4413 A-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN before G1799 ADV him G846 P-GSN , and G2532 CONJ causeth G4160 V-IAI-3S the G3588 T-ASF earth G1093 N-ASF and G2532 CONJ them G3588 T-APM which G3588 T-APM dwell G2730 V-PAP-APM therein G1722 PREP to G2443 CONJ worship G4352 V-AAS-3P the G3588 T-ASN first G4413 A-ASN beast G2342 N-ASN , whose G3739 R-GSN deadly wound G848 was healed G2323 V-API-3S .
13 And G2532 CONJ he doeth G4160 V-PAI-3S great G3173 A-APN wonders G4592 N-APN , so that G2443 CONJ he G2532 CONJ maketh G4160 V-PAI-3S fire G4442 N-ASN come down G2597 V-PAS-3S from G1537 PREP heaven G3772 N-GSM on G1519 the G3588 T-ASF earth G1093 N-ASF in the G3588 T-GPM sight G1799 ADV of men G444 N-GPM ,
14 And G2532 CONJ deceiveth G4105 V-PAI-3S them that dwell G2730 V-PAP-APM on G1909 PREP the G3588 T-GSF earth G1093 N-GSF by G1223 PREP the G3588 T-APN means of G3588 T-APN those miracles G4592 N-APN which G3739 R-NPN he had power G1325 V-API-3S to do G4160 V-AAN in the sight G1799 ADV of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN ; saying G3004 V-PAP-NSM to them that dwell G2730 V-PAP-DPM on G1909 PREP the G3588 T-GSF earth G1093 N-GSF , that they should make G4160 V-AAN an image G1504 to the G3588 T-DSN beast G2342 N-DSN , which G3739 R-NSN had G2192 V-IAI-3S the G3588 T-ASF wound G4127 N-ASF by a sword G3162 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ did live G2198 V-AAI-3S .
15 And G2532 CONJ he had power G1325 V-API-3S to give G1325 V-2AAN life G4151 N-NSN unto the G3588 T-NSF image G1504 N-NSF of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN , that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF image G1504 N-NSF of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN should both G2532 CONJ speak G2980 V-AAS-3S , and G2532 CONJ cause G4160 V-AAS-3S that as many as would not G3361 PRT-N worship G4352 V-AAS-3P the G3588 T-NSF image G1504 N-NSF of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN should G2443 CONJ be killed G615 V-APS-3P .
16 And G2532 CONJ he causeth G4160 V-PAI-3S all G3956 A-APM , both small G3398 A-APM and G2532 CONJ great G3173 A-APM , rich G4145 A-APM and G2532 CONJ poor G4434 A-APM , free G1658 A-APM and G2532 CONJ bond G1401 N-APM , to G2443 CONJ receive G1325 V-2AAS-3P a mark G5480 N-APN in G1909 PREP their G3588 T-GSF right G1188 A-GSF hand G5495 N-GSF , or G2228 PRT in G1909 PREP their G3588 T-GPN foreheads G3359 N-GPN :
17 And G2532 CONJ that G2443 CONJ no G3361 PRT-N man G5100 X-NSM might G1410 V-PNI-3S buy G59 V-AAN or G2228 PRT sell G4453 V-AAN , save G1508 he that had G2192 V-PAP-NSM the G3588 T-ASN mark G5480 N-ASN , or G2228 PRT the G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN , or G2228 PRT the G3588 T-ASM number G706 N-ASM of G3588 T-GSN his G3588 T-GSN name G3686 N-GSN .
18 Here G5602 ADV is G2076 V-PXI-3S wisdom G4678 N-NSF . Let him that hath G2192 V-PAP-NSM understanding G3563 N-ASM count G5585 V-AAM-3S the G3588 T-ASM number G706 N-ASM of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN beast G2342 N-GSN : for G1063 CONJ it is G2076 V-PXI-3S the number G706 N-NSM of a man G444 N-GSM ; and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-NSM number G706 N-NSM is Six hundred threescore and six G5516 A-NUI-ABB .
