Genesis 17:21
21
But
my
covenant
will
I
establish
with
Isaac,
which
Sarah
shall
bear
unto
thee
at
this
set
time
in
the
next
year.
Acts 7:8
8
And
he
gave
him
the
covenant
of
circumcision:
and
so
Abraham
begat
Isaac,
and
circumcised
him
the
eighth
day;
and
Isaac
begat
Jacob;
and
Jacob
begat
the
twelve
patriarchs.
Romans 9:7
7
Neither,
because
they
are
the
seed
of
Abraham,
are
they
all
children:
but,
In
Isaac
shall
thy
seed
be
called.
Galatians 4:30
30
Nevertheless
what
saith
the
scripture?
Cast
out
the
bondwoman
and
her
son:
for
the
son
of
the
bondwoman
shall
not
be
heir
with
the
son
of
the
free
woman.

1
Now
faith
is
the
substance
of
things
hoped
for,
the
evidence
of
things
not
seen.
2
For
by
it
the
elders
obtained
a
good
report.
3
Through
faith
we
understand
that
the
worlds
were
framed
by
the
word
of
God,
so
that
things
which
are
seen
were
not
made
of
things
which
do
appear.
4
By
faith
Abel
offered
unto
God
a
more
excellent
sacrifice
than
Cain,
by
which
he
obtained
witness
that
he
was
righteous,
God
testifying
of
his
gifts:
and
by
it
he
being
dead
yet
speaketh.
5
By
faith
Enoch
was
translated
that
he
should
not
see
death;
and
was
not
found,
because
God
had
translated
him:
for
before
his
translation
he
had
this
testimony,
that
he
pleased
God.
6
But
without
faith
it
is
impossible
to
please
him:
for
he
that
cometh
to
God
must
believe
that
he
is,
and
that
he
is
a
rewarder
of
them
that
diligently
seek
him.
7
By
faith
Noah,
being
warned
of
God
of
things
not
seen
as
yet,
moved
with
fear,
prepared
an
ark
to
the
saving
of
his
house;
by
the
which
he
condemned
the
world,
and
became
heir
of
the
righteousness
which
is
by
faith.
8
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
called
to
go
out
into
a
place
which
he
should
after
receive
for
an
inheritance,
obeyed;
and
he
went
out,
not
knowing
whither
he
went.
9
By
faith
he
sojourned
in
the
land
of
promise,
as
in
a
strange
country,
dwelling
in
tabernacles
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
the
heirs
with
him
of
the
same
promise:
10
For
he
looked
for
a
city
which
hath
foundations,
whose
builder
and
maker
is
God.
11
Through
faith
also
Sara
herself
received
strength
to
conceive
seed,
and
was
delivered
of
a
child
when
she
was
past
age,
because
she
judged
him
faithful
who
had
promised.
12
Therefore
sprang
there
even
of
one,
and
him
as
good
as
dead,
so
many
as
the
stars
of
the
sky
in
multitude,
and
as
the
sand
which
is
by
the
sea
shore
innumerable.
13
These
all
died
in
faith,
not
having
received
the
promises,
but
having
seen
them
afar
off,
and
were
persuaded
of
them,
and
embraced
them,
and
confessed
that
they
were
strangers
and
pilgrims
on
the
earth.
14
For
they
that
say
such
things
declare
plainly
that
they
seek
a
country.
15
And
truly,
if
they
had
been
mindful
of
that
country
from
whence
they
came
out,
they
might
have
had
opportunity
to
have
returned.
16
But
now
they
desire
a
better
country,
that
is,
an
heavenly:
wherefore
God
is
not
ashamed
to
be
called
their
God:
for
he
hath
prepared
for
them
a
city.
17
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
tried,
offered
up
Isaac:
and
he
that
had
received
the
promises
offered
up
his
only
begotten
son,
18
Of
whom
it
was
said,
That
in
Isaac
shall
thy
seed
be
called:
19
Accounting
that
God
was
able
to
raise
him
up,
even
from
the
dead;
from
whence
also
he
received
him
in
a
figure.
20
By
faith
Isaac
blessed
Jacob
and
Esau
concerning
things
to
come.
21
By
faith
Jacob,
when
he
was
a
dying,
blessed
both
the
sons
of
Joseph;
and
worshipped,
leaning
upon
the
top
of
his
staff.
22
By
faith
Joseph,
when
he
died,
made
mention
of
the
departing
of
the
children
of
Israel;
and
gave
commandment
concerning
his
bones.
23
By
faith
Moses,
when
he
was
born,
was
hid
three
months
of
his
parents,
because
they
saw
he
was
a
proper
child;
and
they
were
not
afraid
of
the
king’s
commandment.
24
By
faith
Moses,
when
he
was
come
to
years,
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
Pharaoh’s
daughter;
25
Choosing
rather
to
suffer
affliction
with
the
people
of
God,
than
to
enjoy
the
pleasures
of
sin
for
a
season;
26
Esteeming
the
reproach
of
Christ
greater
riches
than
the
treasures
in
Egypt:
for
he
had
respect
unto
the
recompence
of
the
reward.
27
By
faith
he
forsook
Egypt,
not
fearing
the
wrath
of
the
king:
for
he
endured,
as
seeing
him
who
is
invisible.
28
Through
faith
he
kept
the
passover,
and
the
sprinkling
of
blood,
lest
he
that
destroyed
the
firstborn
should
touch
them.
29
By
faith
they
passed
through
the
Red
sea
as
by
dry
land:
which
the
Egyptians
assaying
to
do
were
drowned.
30
By
faith
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
down,
after
they
were
compassed
about
seven
days.
31
By
faith
the
harlot
Rahab
perished
not
with
them
that
believed
not,
when
she
had
received
the
spies
with
peace.
32
And
what
shall
I
more
say?
for
the
time
would
fail
me
to
tell
of
Gedeon,
and
of
Barak,
and
of
Samson,
and
of
Jephthae;
of
David
also,
and
Samuel,
and
of
the
prophets:
33
Who
through
faith
subdued
kingdoms,
wrought
righteousness,
obtained
promises,
stopped
the
mouths
of
lions,
34
Quenched
the
violence
of
fire,
escaped
the
edge
of
the
sword,
out
of
weakness
were
made
strong,
waxed
valiant
in
fight,
turned
to
flight
the
armies
of
the
aliens.
35
Women
received
their
dead
raised
to
life
again:
and
others
were
tortured,
not
accepting
deliverance;
that
they
might
obtain
a
better
resurrection:
36
And
others
had
trial
of
cruel
mockings
and
scourgings,
yea,
moreover
of
bonds
and
imprisonment:
37
They
were
stoned,
they
were
sawn
asunder,
were
tempted,
were
slain
with
the
sword:
they
wandered
about
in
sheepskins
and
goatskins;
being
destitute,
afflicted,
tormented;
38
(Of
whom
the
world
was
not
worthy:)
they
wandered
in
deserts,
and
in
mountains,
and
in
dens
and
caves
of
the
earth.
39
And
these
all,
having
obtained
a
good
report
through
faith,
received
not
the
promise:
40
God
having
provided
some
better
thing
for
us,
that
they
without
us
should
not
be
made
perfect.

By
faith
Abraham,
being
called,
did
obey,
to

the
place
that
he
was
about
to
receive
for
an
inheritance,
and
he
went
forth,
not
knowing
whither
he
doth

9
by
faith
he
did
sojourn
in
the
land
of
the
promise
as
a
strange
country,
in
tabernacles
having
dwelt
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
fellow-heirs
of
the

10
for
he

looking
for
the
city

the
foundations,
whose
artificer
and
constructor
is
God.
11
By
faith

Sarah

power

and
she

after
the

she
did

Him
faithful

sons
of
Joseph
did

and
did

22
by
faith,
Joseph

concerning
the

of
the

of
Israel
did

concerning
his

By

having
become
great,
did

Pharaoh,
25

chosen
rather
to

of
reward;
27
by
faith
he
left
Egypt
behind,
not
having
been
afraid
of
the
wrath
of
the

for,
as
seeing
the

he
endured;

by

he

sprinkling
of

that
He
who

through

But,
"In
Isaac
will
your
seed
be
called."
Galatians 4:30
30
However
what
does
the
Scripture
say?
"Throw
out
the
handmaid
and
her
son,
for
the
son
of
the
handmaid
will
not
inherit
with
the
son
of
the
free
woman."

1
Now
faith
is
assurance
of
things
hoped
for,
proof
of
things
not
seen.
2
For
by
this,
the
elders
obtained
testimony.
3
By
faith,
we
understand
that
the
universe
has
been
framed
by
the
word
of
God,
so
that
what
is
seen
has
not
been
made
out
of
things
which
are
visible.
4
By
faith,
Abel
offered
to
God
a
more
excellent
sacrifice
than
Cain,
through
which
he
had
testimony
given
to
him
that
he
was
righteous,
God
bearing
witness
with
respect
to
his
gifts;
and
through
it
he,
being
dead,
still
speaks.
5
By
faith,
Enoch
was
taken
away,
so
that
he
wouldn't
see
death,
and
he
was
not
found,
because
God
translated
him.
For
he
has
had
testimony
given
to
him
that
before
his
translation
he
had
been
well
pleasing
to
God.
6
Without
faith
it
is
impossible
to
be
well
pleasing
to
him,
for
he
who
comes
to
God
must
believe
that
he
exists,
and
that
he
is
a
rewarder
of
those
who
seek
him.
7
By
faith,
Noah,
being
warned
about
things
not
yet
seen,
moved
with
godly
fear,
prepared
an
ark
for
the
saving
of
his
house,
through
which
he
condemned
the
world,
and
became
heir
of
the
righteousness
which
is
according
to
faith.
8
By
faith,
Abraham,
when
he
was
called,
obeyed
to
go
out
to
the
place
which
he
was
to
receive
for
an
inheritance.
He
went
out,
not
knowing
where
he
went.
9
By
faith,
he
lived
as
an
alien
in
the
land
of
promise,
as
in
a
land
not
his
own,
dwelling
in
tents,
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
the
heirs
with
him
of
the
same
promise.
10
For
he
looked
for
the
city
which
has
the
foundations,
whose
builder
and
maker
is
God.
11
By
faith,
even
Sarah
herself
received
power
to
conceive,
and
she
bore
a
child
when
she
was
past
age,
since
she
counted
him
faithful
who
had
promised.
12
Therefore
as
many
as
the
stars
of
the
sky
in
multitude,
and
as
innumerable
as
the
sand
which
is
by
the
sea
shore,
were
fathered
by
one
man,
and
him
as
good
as
dead.
13
These
all
died
in
faith,
not
having
received
the
promises,
but
having
seen
them
and
embraced
them
from
afar,
and
having
confessed
that
they
were
strangers
and
pilgrims
on
the
earth.
14
For
those
who
say
such
things
make
it
clear
that
they
are
seeking
after
a
country
of
their
own.
15
If
indeed
they
had
been
thinking
of
that
country
from
which
they
went
out,
they
would
have
had
enough
time
to
return.
16
But
now
they
desire
a
better
country,
that
is,
a
heavenly
one.
Therefore
God
is
not
ashamed
of
them,
to
be
called
their
God,
for
he
has
prepared
a
city
for
them.
17
By
faith,
Abraham,
being
tested,
offered
up
Isaac.
Yes,
he
who
had
gladly
received
the
promises
was
offering
up
his
one
and
only
son;
18
even
he
to
whom
it
was
said,
"In
Isaac
will
your
seed
be
called;"
19
accounting
that
God
is
able
to
raise
up
even
from
the
dead.
Figuratively
speaking,
he
also
did
receive
him
back
from
the
dead.
20
By
faith,
Isaac
blessed
Jacob
and
Esau,
even
concerning
things
to
come.
21
By
faith,
Jacob,
when
he
was
dying,
blessed
each
of
the
sons
of
Joseph,
and
worshiped,
leaning
on
the
top
of
his
staff.
22
By
faith,
Joseph,
when
his
end
was
near,
made
mention
of
the
departure
of
the
children
of
Israel;
and
gave
instructions
concerning
his
bones.
23
By
faith,
Moses,
when
he
was
born,
was
hidden
for
three
months
by
his
parents,
because
they
saw
that
he
was
a
beautiful
child,
and
they
were
not
afraid
of
the
king's
commandment.
24
By
faith,
Moses,
when
he
had
grown
up,
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
Pharaoh's
daughter,
25
choosing
rather
to
share
ill
treatment
with
God's
people,
than
to
enjoy
the
pleasures
of
sin
for
a
time;
26
accounting
the
reproach
of
Christ
greater
riches
than
the
treasures
of
Egypt;
for
he
looked
to
the
reward.
27
By
faith,
he
left
Egypt,
not
fearing
the
wrath
of
the
king;
for
he
endured,
as
seeing
him
who
is
invisible.
28
By
faith,
he
kept
the
Passover,
and
the
sprinkling
of
the
blood,
that
the
destroyer
of
the
firstborn
should
not
touch
them.
29
By
faith,
they
passed
through
the
Red
sea
as
on
dry
land.
When
the
Egyptians
tried
to
do
so,
they
were
swallowed
up.
30
By
faith,
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
down,
after
they
had
been
encircled
for
seven
days.
31
By
faith,
Rahab
the
prostitute,
didn't
perish
with
those
who
were
disobedient,
having
received
the
spies
in
peace.
32
What
more
shall
I
say?
For
the
time
would
fail
me
if
I
told
of
Gideon,
Barak,
Samson,
Jephthah,
David,
Samuel,
and
the
prophets;
33
who,
through
faith
subdued
kingdoms,
worked
out
righteousness,
obtained
promises,
stopped
the
mouths
of
lions,
34
quenched
the
power
of
fire,
escaped
the
edge
of
the
sword,
from
weakness
were
made
strong,
grew
mighty
in
war,
and
turned
to
flight
armies
of
aliens.
35
Women
received
their
dead
by
resurrection.
Others
were
tortured,
not
accepting
their
deliverance,
that
they
might
obtain
a
better
resurrection.
36
Others
were
tried
by
mocking
and
scourging,
yes,
moreover
by
bonds
and
imprisonment.
37
They
were
stoned.
They
were
sawn
apart.
They
were
tempted.
They
were
slain
with
the
sword.
They
went
around
in
sheep
skins
and
in
goat
skins;
being
destitute,
afflicted,
ill-treated
38
(of
whom
the
world
was
not
worthy),
wandering
in
deserts,
mountains,
caves,
and
the
holes
of
the
earth.
39
These
all,
having
had
testimony
given
to
them
through
their
faith,
didn't
receive
the
promise,
40
God
having
provided
some
better
thing
concerning
us,
so
that
apart
from
us
they
should
not
be
made
perfect.

not
see
death;
and
was
not
found,
because
God
had
translated
him:
for
before
his
translation
he
had
this
testimony,
that
he
pleased
God.
6
But
without
faith
it
is
impossible
to
please
him:
for
he
that
comes
to
God
must
believe
that
he
is,
and
that
he
is
a
rewarder
of
them
that
diligently
seek
him.
7
By
faith
Noah,
being
warned
of
God
of
things
not
seen
as
yet,
moved
with
fear,
prepared
an
ark
to
the
saving
of
his
house;
by
the
which
he
condemned
the
world,
and
became
heir
of
the
righteousness
which
is
by
faith.
8
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
called
to
go
out
into
a
place
which
he
should
after
receive
for
an
inheritance,
obeyed;
and
he
went
out,
not
knowing
where
he
went.
9
By
faith
he
sojourned
in
the
land
of
promise,
as
in
a
strange
country,
dwelling
in
tabernacles
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
the
heirs
with
him
of
the
same
promise:
10
For
he
looked
for
a
city
which
has
foundations,
whose
builder
and
maker
is
God.
11
Through
faith
also
Sara
herself
received
strength
to
conceive
seed,
and
was
delivered
of
a
child
when
she
was
past
age,
because
she
judged
him
faithful
who
had
promised.
12
Therefore
sprang
there
even
of
one,
and
him
as
good
as
dead,
so
many
as
the
stars
of
the
sky
in
multitude,
and
as
the
sand
which
is
by
the
sea
shore
innumerable.
13
These
all
died
in
faith,
not
having
received
the
promises,
but
having
seen
them
afar
off,
and
were
persuaded
of
them,
and
embraced
them,
and
confessed
that
they
were
strangers
and
pilgrims
on
the
earth.
14
For
they
that
say
such
things
declare
plainly
that
they
seek
a
country.
15
And
truly,
if
they
had
been
mindful
of
that
country
from
where
they
came
out,
they
might
have
had
opportunity
to
have
returned.
16
But
now
they
desire
a
better
country,
that
is,
an
heavenly:
why
God
is
not
ashamed
to
be
called
their
God:
for
he
has
prepared
for
them
a
city.
17
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
tried,
offered
up
Isaac:
and
he
that
had
received
the
promises
offered
up
his
only
begotten
son,
18
Of
whom
it
was
said,
That
in
Isaac
shall
your
seed
be
called:
19
Accounting
that
God
was
able
to
raise
him
up,
even
from
the
dead;
from
where
also
he
received
him
in
a
figure.
20
By
faith
Isaac
blessed
Jacob
and
Esau
concerning
things
to
come.
21
By
faith
Jacob,
when
he
was
a
dying,
blessed
both
the
sons
of
Joseph;
and
worshipped,
leaning
on
the
top
of
his
staff.
22
By
faith
Joseph,
when
he
died,
made
mention
of
the
departing
of
the
children
of
Israel;
and
gave
commandment
concerning
his
bones.
23
By
faith
Moses,
when
he
was
born,
was
hid
three
months
of
his
parents,
because
they
saw
he
was
a
proper
child;
and
they
were
not
afraid
of
the
king's
commandment.
24
By
faith
Moses,
when
he
was
come
to
years,
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
Pharaoh's
daughter;
25
Choosing
rather
to
suffer
affliction
with
the
people
of
God,
than
to
enjoy
the
pleasures
of
sin
for
a
season;
26
Esteeming
the
reproach
of
Christ
greater
riches
than
the
treasures
in
Egypt:
for
he
had
respect
to
the
recompense
of
the
reward.
27
By
faith
he
forsook
Egypt,
not
fearing
the
wrath
of
the
king:
for
he
endured,
as
seeing
him
who
is
invisible.
28
Through
faith
he
kept
the
passover,
and
the
sprinkling
of
blood,
lest
he
that
destroyed
the
firstborn
should
touch
them.
29
By
faith
they
passed
through
the
Red
sea
as
by
dry
land:
which
the
Egyptians
assaying
to
do
were
drowned.
30
By
faith
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
down,
after
they
were
compassed
about
seven
days.
31
By
faith
the
harlot
Rahab
perished
not
with
them
that
believed
not,
when
she
had
received
the
spies
with
peace.
32
And
what
shall
I
more
say?
for
the
time
would
fail
me
to
tell
of
Gedeon,
and
of
Barak,
and
of
Samson,
and
of
Jephthae;
of
David
also,
and
Samuel,
and
of
the
prophets:
33
Who
through
faith
subdued
kingdoms,
worked
righteousness,
obtained
promises,
stopped
the
mouths
of
lions.
34
Quenched
the
violence
of
fire,
escaped
the
edge
of
the
sword,
out
of
weakness
were
made
strong,
waxed
valiant
in
fight,
turned
to
flight
the
armies
of
the
aliens.
35
Women
received
their
dead
raised
to
life
again:
and
others
were
tortured,
not
accepting
deliverance;
that
they
might
obtain
a
better
resurrection:
36
And
others
had
trial
of
cruel
mockings
and
scourgings,
yes,
moreover
of
bonds
and
imprisonment:
37
They
were
stoned,
they
were
sawn
asunder,
were
tempted,
were
slain
with
the
sword:
they
wandered
about
in
sheepskins
and
goatskins;
being
destitute,
afflicted,
tormented;
38
(Of
whom
the
world
was
not
worthy:)
they
wandered
in
deserts,
and
in
mountains,
and
in
dens
and
caves
of
the
earth.
39
And
these
all,
having
obtained
a
good
report
through
faith,
received
not
the
promise:
40
God
having
provided
some
better
thing
for
us,
that
they
without
us
should
not
be
made
perfect.

tents
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
who
also
received
the
same
promise
from
God.
10
Abraham
was
waiting
for
the
city
that
has
real
foundations.
He
was
waiting
for
the
city
that
is
planned
and
built
by
God.
11
Sarah
was
not
able
to
have
children,
and
Abraham
was
too
old.
But
he
had
faith
in
God,
trusting
him
to
do
what
he
promised.
And
so
God
made
them
able
to
have
children.
12
Abraham
was
so
old
he
was
almost
dead.
But
from
that
one
man
came
as
many
descendants
as
there
are
stars
in
the
sky.
So
many
people
came
from
him
that
they
are
like
grains
of
sand
on
the
seashore.
13
All
these
great
people
continued
living
with
faith
until
they
died.
They
did
not
get
the
things
God
promised
his
people.
But
they
were
happy
just
to
see
those
promises
coming
far
in
the
future.
They
accepted
the
fact
that
they
were
like
visitors
and
strangers
here
on
earth.
14
When
people
accept
something
like
that,
they
show
they
are
waiting
for
a
country
that
will
be
their
own.
15
If
they
were
thinking
about
the
country
they
had
left,
they
could
have
gone
back.
16
But
they
were
waiting
for
a
better
country—a
heavenly
country.
So
God
is
not
ashamed
to
be
called
their
God.
And
he
has
prepared
a
city
for
them.
17
God
tested
Abraham's
faith.
God
told
him
to
offer
Isaac
as
a
sacrifice.
Abraham
obeyed
because
he
had
faith.
He
already
had
the
promises
from
God.
And
God
had
already
said
to
him,
"It
is
through
Isaac
that
your
descendants
will
come."
But
Abraham
was
ready
to
offer
his
only
son.
He
did
this
because
he
had
faith.
18

And
really,
when
God

Abraham
from
killing
Isaac,
it
was
as
if
he
got
him
back
from
death.
20
Isaac
blessed
the
future
of
Jacob
and
Esau.
He
did
that
because
he
had
faith.
21
And
Jacob,
also
because
he
had
faith,
blessed
each
one
of
Joseph's
sons.
He
did
this
while
he
was
dying,
leaning
on
his
rod
and
worshiping
God.
22
And
when
Joseph
was
almost
dead,
he
spoke
about
the
people
of
Israel
leaving
Egypt.
And
he
told
them
what
they
should

with
his

He
did
this
because
he
had
faith.
23
And
the
mother
and
father
of
Moses
hid
him
for
three
months
after
he
was
born.
They
did
this
because
they
had
faith.
They
saw
that
Moses
was
a
beautiful
baby.
And
they
were
not
afraid
to
disobey
the
king's
order.
24
Moses
grew
up
and
became
a
man.
He
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
Pharaoh's
daughter.
He
chose
not
to
enjoy
the
pleasures
of
sin
that
last
such
a
short
time.
Instead,
he
chose
to
suffer
with
God's
people.
He
did
this
because
he
had
faith.

27
Moses
left
Egypt
because
he

He
was

the

He
continued
strong
as

Moses

on

the

the

Moses

And
God's
people
all
walked
through
the

Sea

if
it
were
dry
land.
They
were
able
to
do
this

they
had

But
when
the
Egyptians
tried
to
follow
them,
they
were
drowned.

And
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
because
of
the
faith
of
God's
people.
They
marched
around
the
walls
for
seven
days,
and
then
the
walls
fell.
31
And
Rahab,
the
prostitute,
welcomed
the
Israelite
spies
like
friends.
And
because
of
her
faith,
she
was
not
killed
with
the
ones
who
refused
to
obey.
32
Do
I
need
to
give
you
more
examples?
I
don't
have
enough
time
to
tell
you
about
Gideon,
Barak,
Samson,
Jephthah,
David,
Samuel,
and
the
prophets.
33
All
of
them
had
great
faith.
And
with
that
faith
they
defeated
kingdoms.
They
did
what
was
right,
and
God
helped
them
in
the
ways
he
promised.
With
their
faith
some
people
closed
the
mouths
of
lions.
34
And
some
were
able
to
stop
blazing
fires.
Others
escaped
from
being
killed
with
swords.
Some
who
were
weak
were
made
strong.
They
became
powerful
in
battle
and
defeated
other
armies.
35
There
were
women
who
lost
loved
ones
but
got
them
back
when
they
were
raised
from
death.
Others
were
tortured
but
refused
to
accept
their
freedom.
They
did
this
so
that
they
could
be
raised
from
death
to
a
better
life.
36
Some
were
laughed
at
and
beaten.
Others
were
tied
up
and
put
in
prison.
37
They
were
killed
with
stones.
They
were
cut
in
half.
They
were
killed
with
swords.
The
only
clothes
some
of
them
had
were
sheep
skins
or
goat
skins.
They
were
poor,
persecuted,
and
treated
badly
by
others.
38
The
world
was
not
good
enough
for
these
great
people.
They
had
to
wander
in
deserts
and
mountains,
living
in
caves
and
holes
in
the
ground.

God
was
pleased
with
all
of

Of
course,
he

we
could
all
enjoy
that
blessing
together.

A
man
cannot
please
God
unless
he
has
faith.
Anyone
who
comes
to
God
must

that
He
is.
That
one

that
God
gives
what
is

Him.

Noah
had
faith,
he

a
large
boat

his

God

was

His
faith

His

Abraham

God

the
age

children.
She

12
Abraham

old
to
have
children.
But
from
this

as

in
it
as

These
people
all
died
having
faith
in
God.

what
God

them.
But
they
could

far

to
all
the
things
God
promised
and
they
were
glad
for
them.
They
knew
they
were
strangers
here.
This
earth
was
not
their
home.
14
People
who
say
these
things

they
are
looking
for
a
country
of
their
own.
15
They
did
not
think
about
the
country
they
had
come
from.
If
they
had,
they
might
have
gone
back.

But
they
wanted
a
better
country.

ashamed
to
be
called
their
God.
He
has
made
a
city

them.

Abraham

faith,

God
had
made
a
promise
to
Abraham
that
He
would
give
him
a
son.

Abraham

give
his
only
son

worship.

God
had
said
to
Abraham,
"Your
family
will
come
from
Isaac."
(Genesis
21:12)
19
Abraham
believed
God
was
able
to
bring
Isaac
back
to
life
again.
And
so
it
may
be
said
that
Abraham
did
receive
him
back
from
death.
20
Because
Isaac
had
faith,
he
said
that
good

Esau

Jacob
had
faith,
he
said
that
good

each
of
Joseph's
sons
as
he
was
dying.
He
used
his
walking
stick
to
hold
him
up
as
he
prayed
to
God.

Because
Joseph
had
faith,
he
spoke
of
the
Jews
leaving
the
country
of
Egypt.
He
was

die
soon,
and

them

Moses
had
faith,
he
would
not

he
grew
up.
25
He
chose
to
suffer
with
God's
people
instead
of
having
fun
doing
sinful
things
for
awhile.
26
Any
shame
that
he
suffered
for
Christ
was
worth
more
than
all
the
riches
in
Egypt.
He
kept
his
eyes
on
the
reward
God
was
going
to
give
him.
27
Because
Moses
had
faith,
he
left
Egypt.
He
was
not
afraid
of
the
king's
anger.
Moses
did
not
turn
from
the
right
way
but
kept
seeing
God
in
front
of
him.
28
Because
Moses
had
faith,
he
told
all
the
Jews
to
put
blood
over
their
doors.
Then
the
angel
of
death
would
pass
over
their
houses
and
not
kill
their
oldest
sons.
29
Because
the
Jews
had
faith,
they
went
through
the
Red
Sea
as
if
they
were
on
dry
ground.
But
when
the
people

the

she

the
men

more

There
is
not
enough
time
to
tell
of
Gideon

of
Barak

of
Samson

of

It

they
won
wars

other

good

They

God

They

They

after
they
had
been
weak
and
sick.
They
were

war.
They
made
fighting

other
countries
run
home.
35
It

some
women
had
faith
that
they
received
their

to
life.
Others
chose
to
be

God.
In
this

Some

They

them.
People
were

They
were
tested.
They
were
killed

They
wore
skins
of
sheep
and
goats
and
had
nothing
they
could
call
their
own.
They
were
hungry
and
sick.
Everyone
was
bad
to
them.
38
They
walked

of
their

God

they

God
had

God
had
planned
something
better
for
us.
These
men
could
not
be
made
perfect
without
us.

Abraham'sn
descendants
are
true
children
of
Abraham.
But
God
said
to
Abraham:
"The
descendants
I
promised
you
will
be
from
Isaac."
Galatians 4:30

But
what
does
the
Scripture
say?
"Throw
out
the
slave
woman
and
her
son.
The
son
of
the
slave
woman
should
not
inherit
anything.
The
son
of
the
free
woman
should
receive
it
all."

1
Faith
means
being
sure
of
the
things
we
hope
for
and
knowing
that
something
is
real
even
if
we
do
not
see
it.
2
Faith
is
the
reason
we
remember
great
people
who
lived
in
the
past.
3
It
is
by
faith
we
understand
that
the
whole
world
was
made
by
God's
command
so
what
we
see
was
made
by
something
that
cannot
be
seen.
4
It
was
by
faith
that
Abel
offered
God
a
better
sacrifice
than
Cain
did.
God
said
he
was
pleased
with
the
gifts
Abel
offered
and
called
Abel
a
good
man
because
of
his
faith.
Abel
died,
but
through
his
faith
he
is
still
speaking.
5
It
was
by
faith
that
Enoch
was
taken
to
heaven
so
he
would
not
die.
He
could
not
be
found,
because
God
had
taken
him
away.
Before
he
was
taken,
the
Scripture
says
that
he
was
a
man
who
truly
pleased
God.
6
Without
faith
no
one
can
please
God.
Anyone
who
comes
to
God
must
believe
that
he
is
real
and
that
he
rewards
those
who
truly
want
to
find
him.
7
It
was
by
faith
that
Noah
heard
God's
warnings
about
things
he
could
not
yet
see.
He
obeyed
God
and
built
a
large
boat
to
save
his
family.
By
his
faith,
Noah
showed
that
the
world
was
wrong,
and
he
became
one
of
those
who
are
made
right
with
God
through
faith.
8
It
was
by
faith
Abraham
obeyed
God's
call
to
go
to
another
place
God
promised
to
give
him.
He
left
his
own
country,
not
knowing
where
he
was
to
go.
9
It
was
by
faith
that
he
lived
like
a
foreigner
in
the
country
God
promised
to
give
him.
He
lived
in
tents
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
who
had
received
that
same
promise
from
God.
10
Abraham
was
waiting
for
the
city
that
has
real
foundations
--
the
city
planned
and
built
by
God.
11
He
was
too
old
to
have
children,
and
Sarah
could
not
have
children.
It
was
by
faith
that
Abraham
was
made
able
to
become
a
father,
because
he
trusted
God
to
do
what
he
had
promised.
12
This
man
was
so
old
he
was
almost
dead,
but
from
him
came
as
many
descendants
as
there
are
stars
in
the
sky.
Like
the
sand
on
the
seashore,
they
could
not
be
counted.
13
All
these
great
people
died
in
faith.
They
did
not
get
the
things
that
God
promised
his
people,
but
they
saw
them
coming
far
in
the
future
and
were
glad.
They
said
they
were
like
visitors
and
strangers
on
earth.
14
When
people
say
such
things,
they
show
they
are
looking
for
a
country
that
will
be
their
own.
15
If
they
had
been
thinking
about
the
country
they
had
left,
they
could
have
gone
back.
16
But
they
were
waiting
for
a
better
country
--
a
heavenly
country.
So
God
is
not
ashamed
to
be
called
their
God,
because
he
has
prepared
a
city
for
them.
17
It
was
by
faith
that
Abraham,
when
God
tested
him,
offered
his
son
Isaac
as
a
sacrifice.
God
made
the
promises
to
Abraham,
but
Abraham
was
ready
to
offer
his
own
son
as
a
sacrifice.
18
God
had
said,
"The
descendants
I
promised
you
will
be
from
Isaac."
19
Abraham
believed
that
God
could
raise
the
dead,
and
really,
it
was
as
if
Abraham
got
Isaac
back
from
death.
20
It
was
by
faith
that
Isaac
blessed
the
future
of
Jacob
and
Esau.
21
It
was
by
faith
that
Jacob,
as
he
was
dying,
blessed
each
one
of
Joseph's
sons.
Then
he
worshiped
as
he
leaned
on
the
top
of
his
walking
stick.
22
It
was
by
faith
that
Joseph,
while
he
was
dying,
spoke
about
the
Israelites
leaving
Egypt
and
gave
instructions
about
what
to
do
with
his
body.
23
It
was
by
faith
that
Moses'
parents
hid
him
for
three
months
after
he
was
born.
They
saw
that
Moses
was
a
beautiful
baby,
and
they
were
not
afraid
to
disobey
the
king's
order.
24
It
was
by
faith
that
Moses,
when
he
grew
up,
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
the
king
of
Egypt's
daughter.
25
He
chose
to
suffer
with
God's
people
instead
of
enjoying
sin
for
a
short
time.
26
He
thought
it
was
better
to
suffer
for
the
Christ
than
to
have
all
the
treasures
of
Egypt,
because
he
was
looking
for
God's
reward.
27
It
was
by
faith
that
Moses
left
Egypt
and
was
not
afraid
of
the
king's
anger.
Moses
continued
strong
as
if
he
could
see
the
God
that
no
one
can
see.
28
It
was
by
faith
that
Moses
prepared
the
Passover
and
spread
the
blood
on
the
doors
so
the
one
who
brings
death
would
not
kill
the
firstborn
sons
of
Israel.
29
It
was
by
faith
that
the
people
crossed
the
Red
Sea
as
if
it
were
dry
land.
But
when
the
Egyptians
tried
it,
they
were
drowned.
30
It
was
by
faith
that
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
after
the
people
had
marched
around
them
for
seven
days.
31
It
was
by
faith
that
Rahab,
the
prostitute,
welcomed
the
spies
and
was
not
killed
with
those
who
refused
to
obey
God.
32
Do
I
need
to
give
more
examples?
I
do
not
have
time
to
tell
you
about
Gideon,
Barak,
Samson,
Jephthah,
David,
Samuel,
and
the
prophets.
33
Through
their
faith
they
defeated
kingdoms.
They
did
what
was
right,
received
God's
promises,
and
shut
the
mouths
of
lions.
34
They
stopped
great
fires
and
were
saved
from
being
killed
with
swords.
They
were
weak,
and
yet
were
made
strong.
They
were
powerful
in
battle
and
defeated
other
armies.
35
Women
received
their
dead
relatives
raised
back
to
life.
Others
were
tortured
and
refused
to
accept
their
freedom
so
they
could
be
raised
from
the
dead
to
a
better
life.
36
Some
were
laughed
at
and
beaten.
Others
were
put
in
chains
and
thrown
into
prison.
37
They
were
stoned
to
death,
they
were
cut
in
half,
and
they
were
killed
with
swords.
Some
wore
the
skins
of
sheep
and
goats.
They
were
poor,
abused,
and
treated
badly.
38
The
world
was
not
good
enough
for
them!
They
wandered
in
deserts
and
mountains,
living
in
caves
and
holes
in
the
earth.
39
All
these
people
are
known
for
their
faith,
but
none
of
them
received
what
God
had
promised.
40
God
planned
to
give
us
something
better
so
that
they
would
be
made
perfect,
but
only
together
with
us.

we
understand
that
the
universe
was
created
by
the
word
of
God,
so
that
what
is
seen
has
been
made
from
things
that
are
not
visible.
4
By
faith
Abel
offered
to
God
a
better
sacrifice
than
Cain
did
.
By
this
he
was
approved
as
a
righteous
man,
because
God
approved
his
gifts,
and
even
though
he
is
dead,
he
still
speaks
through
this.
5
By
faith,
Enoch
was
taken
away
so
that
he
did
not
experience
death,
and
he
was
not
to
be
found
because
God
took
him
away.
For
prior
to
his
transformation
he
was
approved,
having
pleased
God.
6
Now
without
faith
it
is
impossible
to
please
God,
for
the
one
who
draws
near
to
Him
must
believe
that
He
exists
and
rewards
those
who
seek
Him.
7
By
faith
Noah,
after
being
warned
about
what
was
not
yet
seen,
in
reverence
built
an
ark
to
deliver
his
family.
By
this
he
condemned
the
world
and
became
an
heir
of
the
righteousness
that
comes
by
faith.
8
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
called,
obeyed
and
went
out
to
a
place
he
was
going
to
receive
as
an
inheritance;
he
went
out,
not
knowing
where
he
was
going.
9
By
faith
he
stayed
as
a
foreigner
in
the
land
of
promise,
living
in
tents
with
Isaac
and
Jacob,
co-heirs
of
the
same
promise.
10
For
he
was
looking
forward
to
the
city
that
has
foundations,
whose
architect
and
builder
is
God.
11
By
faith
even
Sarah
herself,
when
she
was
barren,
received
power
to
conceive
offspring,
even
though
she
was
past
the
age,
since
she
considered
that
the
One
who
had
promised
was
faithful.
12
And
therefore
from
one
man--
in
fact,
from
one
as
good
as
dead--
came
offspring
as
numerous
as
the
stars
of
heaven
and
as
innumerable
as
the
grains
of
sand
by
the
seashore.
13
These
all
died
in
faith
without
having
received
the
promises,
but
they
saw
them
from
a
distance,
greeted
them,
and
confessed
that
they
were
foreigners
and
temporary
residents
on
the
earth.
14
Now
those
who
say
such
things
make
it
clear
that
they
are
seeking
a
homeland.
15
If
they
had
been
remembering
that
land
they
came
from,
they
would
have
had
opportunity
to
return.
16
But
they
now
aspire
to
a
better
land--
a
heavenly
one.
Therefore
God
is
not
ashamed
to
be
called
their
God,
for
He
has
prepared
a
city
for
them.
17
By
faith
Abraham,
when
he
was
tested,
offered
up
Isaac;
he
who
had
received
the
promises
was
offering
up
his
unique
son,
18
about
whom
it
had
been
said,
In
Isaac
your
seed
will
be
called.
19
He
considered
God
to
be
able
even
to
raise
someone
from
the
dead,
from
which
he
also
got
him
back
as
an
illustration.
20
By
faith
Isaac
blessed
Jacob
and
Esau
concerning
things
to
come.
21
By
faith
Jacob,
when
he
was
dying,
blessed
each
of
the
sons
of
Joseph,
and,
he
worshiped,
leaning
on
the
top
of
his
staff.
22
By
faith
Joseph,
as
he
was
nearing
the
end
of
his
life,
mentioned
the
exodus
of
the
sons
of
Israel
and
gave
instructions
concerning
his
bones.
23
By
faith
Moses,
after
he
was
born,
was
hidden
by
his
parents
for
three
months,
because
they
saw
that
the
child
was
beautiful,
and
they
didn't
fear
the
king's
edict.
24
By
faith
Moses,
when
he
had
grown
up,
refused
to
be
called
the
son
of
Pharaoh's
daughter
25
and
chose
to
suffer
with
the
people
of
God
rather
than
to
enjoy
the
short-lived
pleasure
of
sin.
26
For
he
considered
reproach
for
the
sake
of
the
Messiah
to
be
greater
wealth
than
the
treasures
of
Egypt,
since
his
attention
was
on
the
reward.
27
By
faith
he
left
Egypt
behind,
not
being
afraid
of
the
king's
anger,
for
he
persevered,
as
one
who
sees
Him
who
is
invisible.
28
By
faith
he
instituted
the
Passover
and
the
sprinkling
of
the
blood,
so
that
the
destroyer
of
the
firstborn
might
not
touch
them.
29
By
faith
they
crossed
the
Red
Sea
as
though
they
were
on
dry
land.
When
the
Egyptians
attempted
to
do
this,
they
were
drowned.
30
By
faith
the
walls
of
Jericho
fell
down
after
being
encircled
for
seven
days.
31
By
faith
Rahab
the
prostitute
received
the
spies
in
peace
and
didn't
perish
with
those
who
disobeyed.
32
And
what
more
can
I
say?
Time
is
too
short
for
me
to
tell
about
Gideon,
Barak,
Samson,
Jephthah,
of
David
and
Samuel
and
the
prophets,
33
who
by
faith
conquered
kingdoms,
administered
justice,
obtained
promises,
shut
the
mouths
of
lions,
34
quenched
the
raging
of
fire,
escaped
the
edge
of
the
sword,
gained
strength
after
being
weak,
became
mighty
in
battle,
and
put
foreign
armies
to
flight.
35
Women
received
their
dead
raised
to
life
again.
Some
men
were
tortured,
not
accepting
release,
so
that
they
might
gain
a
better
resurrection,
36
and
others
experienced
mockings
and
scourgings,
as
well
as
bonds
and
imprisonment.
37
They
were
stoned,
they
were
sawed
in
two,
they
died
by
the
sword,
they
wandered
about
in
sheepskins,
in
goatskins,
destitute,
afflicted,
and
mistreated.
38
The
world
was
not
worthy
of
them.
They
wandered
in
deserts,
mountains,
caves,
and
holes
in
the
ground.
39
All
these
were
approved
through
their
faith,
but
they
did
not
receive
what
was
promised,
40
since
God
had
provided
something
better
for
us,
so
that
they
would
not
be
made
perfect
without
us.
