the

So
then
if,
while

husband
liveth,

married
to
another
man,
she
shall

called
an
adulteress:
but
if
her
husband

dead,
she

free
from
that
law;

that
she

no
adulteress,
though
she
be
married
to
another
man.

Wherefore,
my
brethren,
ye
also
are
become
dead
to
the
law
by
the
body
of
Christ;
that
ye
should
be
married
to
another,
even
to
him
who
is
raised

dead,
that
we
should
bring
forth
fruit
unto
God.

For
when
we
were
in
the
flesh,
the
motions
of
sins,
which
were
by
the
law,
did
work
in
our
members
to
bring
forth
fruit
unto
death.

But
now
we
are
delivered
from
the
law,
that
being
dead
wherein
we
were
held;
that
we
should
serve
in
newness
of
spirit,
and
not
in
the
oldness
of
the
letter.

What
shall
we
say
then?
Is
the
law
sin?
God
forbid.
Nay,
I
had
not
known
sin,
but
by
the
law:
for
I
had
not
known
lust,
except
the
law
had
said,
Thou
shalt
not
covet.

But
sin,
taking
occasion
by
the
commandment,
wrought
in
me
all
manner
of
concupiscence.
For
without
the
law
sin
was
dead.
9
For
I
was
alive
without
the
law
once:
but
when
the
commandment
came,
sin
revived,
and
I
died.

And
the
commandment,
which
was
ordained
to
life,
I
found
to
be
unto
death.

For
sin,
taking
occasion
by
the
commandment,
deceived
me,
and
by
it
slew
me.

Wherefore
the
law
is
holy,
and
the
commandment
holy,
and
just,
and
good.

Was
then
that
which
is
good
made
death
unto
me?

appear

working

in

by
that
which

good;

by
the
commandment

exceeding
sinful.

spiritual:

the

bear
fruit
to
God.

For
when
we
were
in

flesh,
the
passions
of
sin
were
working
in
our
members
through
the
Law
for
the
bearing
of
fruit
unto
death.

now

have
been
set
free
from
the
Law,
having
died
to
that
in
which
we
were
held,
so
as
for
us
to
serve
in
newness
of
spirit,
and
not
in
oldness
of
letter.

What
shall
we
say
then?
Is
the
Law
sin?
Let
it
not
be!
But
I
did
not
know
sin
except
through
Law;
for
also
I
did
not
know
lust
except
the
Law
said,
"You
shall
not
lust."

sin
taking
occasion
through

commandment
worked
every
lust
in
me;
for
apart
from
Law,
sin
is
dead.

alive
apart
from
Law
once,

commandment
came,
and
sin

to
life,
this
was
found
to
be
death
to

occasion

commandment
deceived

killed

indeed

Law

holy,

commandment

which

good,

death

death

me

the
good,
in
order

sin

excessively
sinful

commandment.

Law

spiritual,

fleshly,

sold

sin.

work
out,

know.

I

will,
this

what

do

I
agree

the
Law,

it

delight

Law

inward
man;

law

members
having
warred
against
the
law

mind,

taking
me
captive
by
the
law
of
sin
being
in
my
members.

O
wretched
man
that

am!

shall
deliver
me
from
the
body
of
this
death?

Jesus

So
then
I
myself

the
mind
truly
serve
the
Law
of
God,
and

flesh

law

am
speaking
to
those
who
understand
law,
brothers,
are
you
unaware
that
the
law
has
authority
over
someone
as
long
as
he
lives?

For
example,
a
married
woman
is
legally
bound
to
her
husband
while
he
lives.
But
if
her
husband
dies,
she
is
released
from
the
law
regarding
the
husband.

So
then,
if
she
gives
herself
to
another
man
while
her
husband
is
living,
she
will
be
called
an
adulteress.
But
if
her
husband
dies,
she
is
free
from
that
law.

if
she
gives
herself
to
another
man,
she
is
not
an
adulteress.

Therefore,
my
brothers,
you

put

death

relation
to

law

crucified
body

Messiah,

Him
who

the
dead--

bear
fruit

sinful

law

part

us

fruit

should
we
say

Is

law

covet
if

law

said,

covet.

sin,

coveting
of

law
sin

Once
I
was
alive
apart
from
the
law,
but

commandment
came,
sin
sprang

life

died.

commandment
that
was
meant
for
life
resulted
in
death
for
me.

For
sin,

an
opportunity

commandment,

me,
and
through
it

So

law
is

commandment

good
cause

desire

is

do
the
good
that
I
want

practice

evil

am

doing

sin

discover
this
principle:
when
I
want
to
do
good,
evil
is
with
me.

inner
self

joyfully
agree

God's
law.

see
a
different
law

parts
of
my
body,
waging
war

law

my
mind
and
taking
me
prisoner
to
the
law
of
sin
in

parts

body.

wretched
man
I
am!

will
rescue

body

God

then,

my
mind
I
myself
am
a
slave
to
the
law
