1
After
these
things
the
word
of
the
LORD
came
unto
Abram
in
a
vision,
saying,
Fear
not,
Abram:
I
am
thy
shield,
and
thy
exceeding
great
reward.
2
And
Abram
said,
Lord
GOD,
what
wilt
thou
give
me,
seeing
I
go
childless,
and
the
steward
of
my
house
is
this
Eliezer
of
Damascus?
3
And
Abram
said,
Behold,
to
me
thou
hast
given
no
seed:
and,
lo,
one
born
in
my
house
is
mine
heir.
4
And,
behold,
the
word
of
the
LORD
came
unto
him,
saying,
This
shall
not
be
thine
heir;
but
he
that
shall
come
forth
out
of
thine
own
bowels
shall
be
thine
heir.
5
And
he
brought
him
forth
abroad,
and
said,
Look
now
toward
heaven,
and
tell
the
stars,
if
thou
be
able
to
number
them:
and
he
said
unto
him,
So
shall
thy
seed
be.
6
And
he
believed
in
the
LORD;
and
he
counted
it
to
him
for
righteousness.
7
And
he
said
unto
him,
I
am
the
LORD
that
brought
thee
out
of
Ur
of
the
Chaldees,
to
give
thee
this
land
to
inherit
it.
8
And
he
said,
Lord
GOD,
whereby
shall
I
know
that
I
shall
inherit
it?
9
And
he
said
unto
him,
Take
me
an
heifer
of
three
years
old,
and
a
she
goat
of
three
years
old,
and
a
ram
of
three
years
old,
and
a
turtledove,
and
a
young
pigeon.
10
And
he
took
unto
him
all
these,
and
divided
them
in
the
midst,
and
laid
each
piece
one
against
another:
but
the
birds
divided
he
not.
11
And
when
the
fowls
came
down
upon
the
carcases,
Abram
drove
them
away.
12
And
when
the
sun
was
going
down,
a
deep
sleep
fell
upon
Abram;
and,
lo,
an
horror
of
great
darkness
fell
upon
him.
13
And
he
said
unto
Abram,
Know
of
a
surety
that
thy
seed
shall
be
a
stranger
in
a
land
that
is
not
theirs,
and
shall
serve
them;
and
they
shall
afflict
them
four
hundred
years;
14
And
also
that
nation,
whom
they
shall
serve,
will
I
judge:
and
afterward
shall
they
come
out
with
great
substance.
15
And
thou
shalt
go
to
thy
fathers
in
peace;
thou
shalt
be
buried
in
a
good
old
age.
16
But
in
the
fourth
generation
they
shall
come
hither
again:
for
the
iniquity
of
the
Amorites
is
not
yet
full.
17
And
it
came
to
pass,
that,
when
the
sun
went
down,
and
it
was
dark,
behold
a
smoking
furnace,
and
a
burning
lamp
that
passed
between
those
pieces.
18
In
the
same
day
the
LORD
made
a
covenant
with
Abram,
saying,
Unto
thy
seed
have
I
given
this
land,
from
the
river
of
Egypt
unto
the
great
river,
the
river
Euphrates:
19
The
Kenites,
and
the
Kenizzites,
and
the
Kadmonites,
20
And
the
Hittites,
and
the
Perizzites,
and
the
Rephaims,
21
And
the
Amorites,
and
the
Canaanites,
and
the
Girgashites,
and
the
Jebusites.
Genesis 25:9
9
And
his
sons
Isaac
and
Ishmael
buried
him
in
the
cave
of
Machpelah,
in
the
field
of
Ephron
the
son
of
Zohar
the
Hittite,
which
is
before
Mamre;
Genesis 49:31
31
There
they
buried
Abraham
and
Sarah
his
wife;
there
they
buried
Isaac
and
Rebekah
his
wife;
and
there
I
buried
Leah.

And
Abram
said,
Behold,
to
me
you
have
given
no

see,
one

After
these
things
the
word
of
the
LORD
came
to
Abram
in
a
vision:
"Fear

Abram!
I

2
But
Abram
said,
"O
sovereign
LORD,
what
will
you
give
me
since
I
continue
to
be
childless,
and
my
heir
is
Eliezer
of
Damascus?"
3
Abram
added,
"Since
you
have
not
given
me
a
descendant,
then
look,
one
born
in
my
house
will
be
my
heir!"
4
But
look,
the
word
of
the
LORD
came
to
him:
"This
man
will
not
be
your
heir,
but
instead
a
son
who
comes
from
your
own
body
will
be

5
The

him

said,
"Gaze

After
all

God
said,
"Abram,

2
But
Abram
said,
"Lord
God,
there
is

can
give
me
that
will
make
me
happy,
because
I
have
no
son.
My

3
Abram
said,
"You

a

everything

Then
the

spoke
to

and
said,
"That

the

You

Then
God
led
Abram
outside
and
said,
"Look

See
the
many
stars.
There
are
so
many
you

Your

But
Abram
said,
"Lord
God,
how
can
I
be

that
I
will

9
God
said
to
Abram,
"We

an
agreement.
Bring
me

three-year-old
cow,
a

goat,
a

Abram

After
these
things,
the
word
of
the
Lord
came
to
Abram
in
a
special
dream,
saying,
"Do
not
be
afraid,
Abram.
I
am
your
safe
place.
Your
reward
will
be
very
great."
2
Then
Abram
said,
"O
Lord
God,
what
will
You
give
me?
For
I
have
no
child.
And
the
one
who
is
to
receive
what
belongs
to
me
is
Eliezer
of
Damascus."
3
Abram
said,
"Because
You
have
not
given
me
a
child,
one
born
in
my
house
will
be
given
all
I
have."
4
Then
the
word
of
the
Lord
came
to
him,
saying,
"This
man
will
not
be
given
what
is
yours.
But
he
who
will
come
from
your
own
body
will
be
given
what
is
yours."
5
He
took
him
outside
and
said,
"Now
look
up
into
the
heavens
and
add
up
the
stars,
if
you
are
able
to
number
them."
Then
He
said
to
him,
"Your
children
and
your
children's
children
will
be
as
many
as
the
stars."
6
Then
Abram
believed
in
the
Lord,
and
that
made
him

God.
7
God
said
to
him,
"I

the
Lord
Who
brought
you
out
of
Ur
of
the
Chaldeans
to

you
this
land
for
your

8
And
Abram
said,
"O
Lord
God,
how
may
I
know
that
it
will
be
mine?"
9
So
the
Lord
said
to
him,
"Bring
Me
a
three-year-old
cow,
a
three-year-old
female
goat,
a
threeyear-old
ram,
a
turtledove
and
a
young

10
Then
Abram
brought
all
these
to
Him,
and
cut
them
in
two.
And
he
laid
each
half
beside
the
other.
But
he
did
not
cut
the
birds.

When
the

birds
came
down

Abram
made

Abram
went
into
a

And
much
fear

darkness
came
upon
him.
13
God
said
to
Abram,
"Know

his

to
Abram
in
a
vision:
"Abram,
don't

I
will

and
I
will

you
a

2
But
Abram
said,
"Lord
God,
what
can
you
give
me?
I
have
no
son,
so
my
slave
Eliezer
from
Damascus
will
get
everything

own
after
I
die."
3
Abram
said,
"Look,
you
have
given
me
no
son,
so
a
slave
born
in
my
house
will
inherit
everything
I
have."
4
Then
the
Lord
spoke
his
word
to
Abram:
"He
will
not
be
the
one
to
inherit
what
you
have.
You
will
have
a
son
of
your
own
who
will
inherit
what
you

5
Then
God
led
Abram
outside
and
said,
"Look
at
the
sky.
There
are
so
many
stars
you
cannot

them.
Your

8
But
Abram
said,
"Lord
God,
how
can
I
be

that
I

this

9
The
