thus
written:
3
In
the
first
year
of
Cyrus
the
king
the
same
Cyrus
the
king
made
a
decree
concerning
the
house
of
God
at
Jerusalem,
Let
the
house
be
builded,
the
place
where
they
offered
sacrifices,
and
let
the
foundations
thereof
be
strongly
laid;
the
height
thereof
threescore
cubits,
and
the
breadth
thereof
threescore
cubits;
4
With
three
rows
of
great
stones,
and
a
row
of
new
timber:
and
let
the
expences
be
given
out
of
the
king’s
house:
5
And
also
let
the
golden
and
silver
vessels
of
the
house
of
God,
which
Nebuchadnezzar
took
forth
out
of
the
temple
which
is
at
Jerusalem,
and
brought
unto
Babylon,
be
restored,
and
brought
again
unto
the
temple
which
is
at
Jerusalem,
every
one
to
his
place,
and
place
them
in
the
house
of
God.
6
Now
therefore,
Tatnai,
governor
beyond
the
river,
Shethar-boznai,
and
your
companions
the
Apharsachites,
which
are
beyond
the
river,
be
ye
far
from
thence:
7
Let
the
work
of
this
house
of
God
alone;
let
the
governor
of
the
Jews
and
the
elders
of
the
Jews
build
this
house
of
God
in
his
place.
8
Moreover
I
make
a
decree
what
ye
shall
do
to
the
elders
of
these
Jews
for
the
building
of
this
house
of
God:
that
of
the
king’s
goods,
even
of
the
tribute
beyond
the
river,
forthwith
expences
be
given
unto
these
men,
that
they
be
not
hindered.
9
And
that
which
they
have
need
of,
both
young
bullocks,
and
rams,
and
lambs,
for
the
burnt
offerings
of
the
God
of
heaven,
wheat,
salt,
wine,
and
oil,
according
to
the
appointment
of
the
priests
which
are
at
Jerusalem,
let
it
be
given
them
day
by
day
without
fail:
10
That
they
may
offer
sacrifices
of
sweet
savours
unto
the
God
of
heaven,
and
pray
for
the
life
of
the
king,
and
of
his
sons.
11
Also
I
have
made
a
decree,
that
whosoever
shall
alter
this
word,
let
timber
be
pulled
down
from
his
house,
and
being
set
up,
let
him
be
hanged
thereon;
and
let
his
house
be
made
a
dunghill
for
this.
12
And
the
God
that
hath
caused
his
name
to
dwell
there
destroy
all
kings
and
people,
that
shall
put
to
their
hand
to
alter
and
to
destroy
this
house
of
God
which
is
at
Jerusalem.
I
Darius
have
made
a
decree;
let
it
be
done
with
speed.
13
Then
Tatnai,
governor
on
this
side
the
river,
Shethar-boznai,
and
their
companions,
according
to
that
which
Darius
the
king
had
sent,
so
they
did
speedily.
14
And
the
elders
of
the
Jews
builded,
and
they
prospered
through
the
prophesying
of
Haggai
the
prophet
and
Zechariah
the
son
of
Iddo.
And
they
builded,
and
finished
it,
according
to
the
commandment
of
the
God
of
Israel,
and
according
to
the
commandment
of
Cyrus,
and
Darius,
and
Artaxerxes
king
of
Persia.
15
And
this
house
was
finished
on
the
third
day
of
the
month
Adar,
which
was
in
the
sixth
year
of
the
reign
of
Darius
the
king.
16
And
the
children
of
Israel,
the
priests,
and
the
Levites,
and
the
rest
of
the
children
of
the
captivity,
kept
the
dedication
of
this
house
of
God
with
joy,
17
And
offered
at
the
dedication
of
this
house
of
God
an
hundred
bullocks,
two
hundred
rams,
four
hundred
lambs;
and
for
a
sin
offering
for
all
Israel,
twelve
he
goats,
according
to
the
number
of
the
tribes
of
Israel.
18
And
they
set
the
priests
in
their
divisions,
and
the
Levites
in
their
courses,
for
the
service
of
God,
which
is
at
Jerusalem;
as
it
is
written
in
the
book
of
Moses.
19
And
the
children
of
the
captivity
kept
the
passover
upon
the
fourteenth
day
of
the
first
month.
20
For
the
priests
and
the
Levites
were
purified
together,
all
of
them
were
pure,
and
killed
the
passover
for
all
the
children
of
the
captivity,
and
for
their
brethren
the
priests,
and
for
themselves.
21
And
the
children
of
Israel,
which
were
come
again
out
of
captivity,
and
all
such
as
had
separated
themselves
unto
them
from
the
filthiness
of
the
heathen
of
the
land,
to
seek
the
LORD
God
of
Israel,

eat,
22
And
kept
the
feast
of
unleavened
bread
seven
days
with
joy:
for
the
LORD
had
made
them
joyful,
and
turned
the
heart
of
the
king
of
Assyria
unto
them,
to
strengthen
their
hands
in
the
work
of
the
house
of
God,
the
God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28
28
And
hath
extended
mercy
unto
me
before
the
king,
and
his
counsellors,
and
before
all
the
king’s
mighty
princes.
And
I
was
strengthened
as
the
hand
of
the
LORD
my
God
was
upon
me,
and
I
gathered
together
out
of
Israel
chief
men
to
go
up
with
me.
Psalms 33:18
18
Behold,
the
eye
of
the
LORD
is
upon
them
that
fear
him,
upon
them
that
hope
in
his
mercy;

temple
be
rebuilt
as
a
place
where
sacrifices
are
offered.
Let
its
foundations
be
set
in
place.
Its
height
is
to
be
ninety
feet
and
its
width
ninety
feet,
4
with
three
layers
of
large
stones
and
one
layer
of
timber.
The
expense
is
to
be
subsidized
by
the
royal
treasury.
5
Furthermore
let
the
gold
and
silver
vessels
of
the
temple
of
God,
which
Nebuchadnezzar
brought
from
the
temple
in
Jerusalem
and
carried
to
Babylon,
be
returned
and
brought
to
their
proper
place
in
the
temple
in
Jerusalem.
Let
them
be
deposited
in
the
temple
of
God.'
6
"Now
Tattenai
governor
of
Trans-Euphrates,
Shethar
Bozenai,
and
their
colleagues,
the
officials
of
Trans-Euphrates—
all
of
you
stay
far
away
from
there!
7
Leave
the
work
on
this
temple
of
God
alone.
Let
the
governor
of
the
Jews
and
the
elders
of
the
Jews
rebuild
this
temple
of
God
in
its
proper
place.
8
"I
also
hereby
issue
orders
as
to
what
you
are
to
do
with
those
elders
of
the
Jews
in
order
to
rebuild
this
temple
of
God.
From
the
royal
treasury,
from
the
taxes
of
Trans-Euphrates
the
complete
costs
are
to
be
given
to
these
men,
so
that
there
may
be
no
interruption
of
the
work.
9
Whatever
is
needed—
whether
oxen
or
rams
or
lambs
or
burnt
offerings
for
the
God
of
heaven
or
wheat
or
salt
or
wine
or
oil,
as
required
by
the
priests
who
are
in
Jerusalem—
must
be
given
to
them
daily
without
any
neglect,
10
so
that
they
may
be
offering
incense
to
the
God
of
heaven
and
may
be
praying
for
the
good
fortune
of
the
king
and
his
family.
11
"I
hereby
give
orders
that
if
anyone
changes
this
directive
a
beam
is
to
be
pulled
out
from
his
house
and
he
is
to
be
raised
up
and
impaled
on
it,
and
his
house
is
to
be
reduced
to
a
rubbish
heap
for
this
indiscretion.
12
May
God
who
makes
his
name
to
reside
there
overthrow
any
king
or
nation
who
reaches
out
to
cause
such
change
so
as
to
destroy
this
temple
of
God
in
Jerusalem.
I,
Darius,
have
given
orders.
Let
them
be
carried
out
with
precision!"
13
Then
Tattenai
governor
of
Trans-Euphrates,
Shethar-Bozenai,
and
their
colleagues
acted
accordingly—
with
precision,
just
as
Darius
the
king
had
given
instructions.
14
The
elders
of
the
Jews
continued
building
and
prospering,
while
at
the
same
time
Haggai
the
prophet
and
Zechariah
the
son
of
Iddo
continued
prophesying.
They
built
and
brought
it
to
completion
by
the
command
of
the
God
of
Israel
and
by
the
command
of
Cyrus
and
Darius
and
Artaxerxes
king
of
Persia.
15
They
finished
this
temple
on
the
third
day
of
the
month
Adar,
which
is
the
sixth
year
of
the
reign
of
King
Darius.
16
The
people
of
Israel—
the
priests,
the
Levites,
and
the
rest
of
the
exiles—
observed
the
dedication
of
this
temple
of
God
with
joy.
17
For
the
dedication
of
this
temple
of
God
they
offered
one
hundred
bulls,
two
hundred
rams,
four
hundred
lambs,
and
twelve
male
goats
for
the
sin
of
all
Israel,
according
to
the
number
of
the
tribes
of
Israel.
18
They
appointed
the
priests
by
their
divisions
and
the
Levites
by
their
divisions
over
the
worship
of
God
at
Jerusalem,
in
accord
with
the
book
of
Moses.
19
The
exiles
observed
the
Passover
on
the
fourteenth
day
of
the
first
month.
20
The
priests
and
the
Levites
had
purified
themselves,
every
last
one,
and
they
all
were
ceremonially
pure.
They
sacrificed
the
Passover
lamb
for
all
the
exiles,
for
their
colleagues
the
priests,
and
for
themselves.
21
The
Israelites
who
were
returning
from
the
exile
ate
it,
along
with
all
those
who
had
joined
them
in
separating
themselves
from
the
uncleanness
of
the
nations
of
the
land
to
seek
the
LORD
God
of
Israel.
22
They
observed
the
Feast
of
Unleavened
Bread
for
seven
days
with
joy,
for
the
LORD
had
given
them
joy
and
had
changed
the
opinion
of
the
king
of
Assyria
toward
them,
so
that
he
assisted
them
in
the
work
on
the
temple
of
God,
the
God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28
28
He
has
also
conferred
his
favor
on
me
before
the
king,
his
advisers,
and
all
the
influential
leaders
of
the
king.
I
gained
strength
as
the
hand
of
the
LORD
my
God
was
on
me,
and
I
gathered
leaders
from
Israel
to
go
up
with
me.
Psalms 33:18
18
Look,
the
LORD
takes
notice
of
his
loyal
followers,
those
who
wait
for
him
to
demonstrate
his
faithfulness

So
King
Darius
gave
an

to

the
writings
of
the
kings
before
him.
The
writings
were
kept
in
Babylon
in
the

the

was
kept.

A

was
written
on
that

Official
Note:
3
During
the
first
year
that
Cyrus
was
king,
he
gave
an
order
about
the
Temple
of
God
in
Jerusalem.
The
order
said:
Let
the
Temple
of
God
be
rebuilt.
It
will
be
a
place
to
offer
sacrifices.
Let
its
foundations
be
built.
The
Temple
must
be
60
cubits
high
and
60
cubits
wide.
4
Its
wall
will
be
in
layers
that
have
three
rows
of
large
stones
and
one
row
of
wooden
timbers.
The
cost
of
building
the
Temple
must
be
paid
for
from
the
king's
treasury.
5
Also,
the
gold
and
silver
things
from
God's
Temple
must
be
put
back
in
their
places.
Nebuchadnezzar
took
them
from
the
Temple
in
Jerusalem
and
brought
them
to
Babylon.
They
must
be
put
back
in
God's
Temple.
6
Now
then,
I,
Darius,
order
you
Tattenai,
governor
of
the
area
west
of
the
Euphrates
River,
and
Shethar
Bozenai,
and
all
the
officials
living
in
that
province,
to
stay
away
from
Jerusalem.
7
Don't
bother
the
workers.
Don't
try
to
stop
the
work
on
this
Temple
of
God.
Let
the
Jewish
governor
and
the
Jewish
leaders
rebuild
it.
Let
them
rebuild
God's
Temple
in
the
same
place
it
was
in
the
past.
8
Now
I
give
this
order.
You
must
do
this
for
the
Jewish
leaders
building
God's
Temple:
The
cost
of
the
building
must
be
fully
paid
from
the
king's
treasury.
The
money
will
come
from
the
taxes
collected
from
the
provinces
in
the
area
west
of
the
Euphrates
River.
Do
these
things
quickly,
so
the
work
will
not
stop.
9
Give
them
anything
they
need.
If
they
need
young
bulls,
rams,
or
male
lambs
for
sacrifices
to
the
God
of
Heaven,
give
these
things
to
them.
If
the
priests
of
Jerusalem
ask
for
wheat,
salt,
wine,
and
oil,
give
these
things
to
them
every
day
without
fail.
10
Give
them
to
the
Jewish
priests
so
that
they
may
offer
sacrifices
that
please
the
God
of
Heaven.
Give
these
things
so
that
the
priests
may
pray
for
me
and
my
sons.
11
Also,
I
give
this
order:
If
anyone
changes
this
order,
a
wooden
beam
must
be
pulled
from
their
house
and
pushed
through
their
body.
Then
their
house
must
be
destroyed
until
it
is
only
a
pile
of
rocks.
12
God
put
his
name
there
in
Jerusalem.
May
God
defeat
any
king
or
other
person
who
tries
to
change
this
order.
If
anyone
tries
to
destroy
this
Temple
in
Jerusalem,
may
God
destroy
that
person.
I,
Darius,
have
ordered
it.
This
order
must
be
obeyed
quickly
and
completely.
13
So
Tattenai
the
governor
of
the
area
west
of
the
Euphrates
River,
Shethar
Bozenai,
and
the
men
with
them
obeyed
King
Darius'
order.
They
obeyed
the
order
quickly
and
completely.
14
So
the
Jewish
leaders
continued
to
build.
They
were
successful
as
Haggai
the
prophet
and
Zechariah
son
of
Iddo
encouraged
them.
They
finished
building
the
Temple.
This
was
done
to
obey
the
command
of
the
God
of
Israel.
It
was
also
done
to
obey
the
orders
of
Cyrus,
Darius,
and
Artaxerxes,
the
kings
of
Persia.
15
The
Temple
was
finished
on
the
third
day
of
the
month
of
Adar.
That
was
in
the
sixth
year
of
the
rule
of
King
Darius.
16
Then
the
Israelites
celebrated
the
dedication
of
God's
Temple
with
much
happiness.
The
priests,
the
Levites,
and
all
the
other
people
who
came
back
from
captivity
joined
in
the
celebration.
17
This
is
the
way
they
dedicated
God's
Temple:
They
offered
100
bulls,
200
rams,
and
400
male
lambs.
And
they
offered
twelve
male
goats
for
all
Israel
for
a
sin
offering.
That
is
one
goat
for
each
of
the
twelve
tribes
of
Israel.
18
Then
they
chose
the
priests
in
their
groups
and
the
Levites
in
their
groups
to
serve
in
God's
Temple
in
Jerusalem.
They
did
these
things
as
it
is
written
in
the
Book
of
Moses.
19
On
the
fourteenth
day
of
the
first
month,
the
Jews
who
came
back
from
captivity
celebrated
the
Passover.
20
The
priests
and
Levites
made
themselves
pure.
They
all
made
themselves
clean
and
ready
to
celebrate
the
Passover.
The
Levites
killed
the
Passover
lamb
for
all
the
Jews
who
came
back
from
captivity.
They
did
that
for
their
brothers
the
priests,
and
for
themselves.
21
So
all
the
Israelites
who
came
back
from
captivity
ate
the
Passover
meal.
Other
people
washed
themselves
and
made
themselves
pure
from
the
unclean
things
of
the
people
living
in
that
country.
These
pure
people
also
shared
in
the
Passover
meal.
They
did
this
so
that
they
could
go
to
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel,
for
help.
22
They
celebrated
the
Festival
of
Unleavened
Bread
with
much
joy
for
seven
days.
The
Lord
made
them
very
happy
because
he
had
changed
the
attitude
of
the
king
of
Assyria.
So
the
king
of
Assyria
had
helped
them
do
the
work
on
God's
Temple.
Ezra 7:28
28
The
Lord
showed
his
faithful
love
to
me
in
front
of
the
king,
his
advisors,
and
the
king's
important
officials.
The
Lord
God
was
with
me,
so
I
was
brave.
I
gathered
together
the
leaders
of
Israel
to
go
with
me
to
Jerusalem.
Psalms 33:18
18
The
Lord
watches
over
his
followers,
those
who
wait
for
him
to
show
his
faithful
love.

saying,
Let

he

their

the

who
are
on
the

the

and

and
lambs
for
whole-burnt-offerings
to
the
God
of
heaven,
Gr.
wheats
wheat,
salt,

it
be
given
them
according
to
the

of
the
priests
that
are
in
Jerusalem,

whatsoever
they
shall

that

of

and
that
they
may

for

And

by
me,
that

who
shall

this

shall

pulled
down

And
may

and
people
who
shall
stretch
out
his
hand
to
alter
or

the
house
of
God
which
is
in
Jerusalem.
I
Darius
have
made
a
decree;
let
it
be
diligently
attended
to.

Then

on

they
did

And
the

they

18
And
they
set
the

the

Let

Also,

Tattenai,

14
The

through
the
words

by
Haggai
the

17
To

400

For
a
sin

for
all
Israel
they
gave
twelve
male
goats,
one
for
each

the

Israel.
18
Then
they
put
the
religious

the
Levites
into
groups

God
in

as

19
The

20
For
the
religious
leaders
and
the
Levites
had
made
themselves
holy
together.
All
of
them
were
clean.
Then
they
killed
the
Passover
lamb
for
all
the
people,
for
their
brothers
the
religious
leaders,
and
for
themselves.
21
It
was
eaten
by
the

all
those

had

themselves
from
the
sin

They
kept

for
seven

for
the
Lord
had
made

happy.
He
had

the
king
of
Assyria
toward
them
to
give
them
strength
in
the
work

the
house

God,

God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28

He

So
King
Darius
gave
an

to
search
the
records
kept
in
the
trea-
sury
in
Babylon.
2
A
scroll
was
found
in
Ecbatana,
the
capital
city
of
Media.
This
is
what
was
written
on
it:
Note:
3
King
Cyrus
gave
an
order
about
the
Temple
of
God
in
Jerusalem
in
the
first
year
he
was
king.
This
was
the
order:
"Let
the
Temple
be
rebuilt
as
a
place
to
present
sacrifices.
Let
its
foundations
be
laid;
it
should
be
ninety
feet
high
and
ninety
feet
wide.
4
It
must
have
three
layers
of
large
stones
and
then
one
layer
of
timbers.
The
costs
should
be
paid
from
the
king's
treasury.
5
The
gold
and
silver
utensils
from
the
Temple
of
God
should
be
put
back
in
their
places.
Nebuchadnezzar
took
them
from
the
Temple
in
Jerusalem
and
brought
them
to
Babylon,
but
they
are
to
be
put
back
in
the
Temple
of
God
in
Jerusalem."
6
Now
then,
Tattenai,
governor
of
Trans-Euphrates,
Shethar-Bozenai,
and
all
the
officers
of
that
area,
stay
away
from
there.
7
Do
not
bother
the
work
on
that
Temple
of
God.
Let
the
governor
of
the
Jewish
people
and
the
older
Jewish
leaders
rebuild
this
Temple
where
it
was
before.
8
Also,
I
order
you
to
do
this
for
those
older
leaders
of
the
Jewish
people
who
are
building
this
Temple:
The
cost
of
the
building
is
to
be
fully
paid
from
the
royal
treasury,
from
taxes
collected
from
Trans-Euphrates.
Do
this
so
the
work
will
not
stop.
9
Give
those
people
anything
they
need
--
young
bulls,
male
sheep,
or
lambs
for
burnt
offerings
to
the
God
of
heaven,
or
wheat,
salt,
wine,
or
olive
oil.
Give
the
priests
in
Jerusalem
anything
they
ask
for
every
day
without
fail.
10
Then
they
may
offer
sacrifices
pleasing
to
the
God
of
heaven,
and
they
may
pray
for
the
life
of
the
king
and
his
sons.
11
Also,
I
give
this
order:
If
anyone
changes
this
order,
a
wood
beam
is
to
be
pulled
from
his
house
and
driven
through
his
body.
Because
of
his
crime,
make
his
house
a
pile
of
ruins.
12
God
has
chosen
Jerusalem
as
the
place
he
is
to
be
worshiped.
May
he
punish
any
king
or
person
who
tries
to
change
this
order
and
destroy
this
Temple.
I,
Darius,
have
given
this
order.
Let
it
be
obeyed
quickly
and
carefully.
13
So,
Tattenai,
the
governor
of
Trans-Euphrates,
Shethar-Bozenai,
and
their
fellow
workers
carried
out
King
Darius'
order
quickly
and
carefully.
14
The
older
Jewish
leaders
continued
to
build
and
were
successful
because
of
the
preaching
of
Haggai
the
prophet
and
Zechariah,
a
descendant
of
Iddo.
They
finished
building
the
Temple
as
the
God
of
Israel
had
commanded
and
as
kings
Cyrus,
Darius,
and
Artaxerxes
of
Persia
had
ordered.
15
The
Temple
was
finished
on
the
third
day
of
the
month
of
Adar
in
the
sixth
year
Darius
was
king.
16
Then
the
people
of
Israel
celebrated
and
gave
the
Temple
to
God
to
honor
him.
Everybody
was
happy:
the
priests,
the
Levites,
and
the
rest
of
the
Jewish
people
who
had
returned
from
captivity.
17
They
gave
the
Temple
to
God
by
offering
a
hundred
bulls,
two
hundred
male
sheep,
and
four
hundred
lambs
as
sacrifices.
And
as
an
offering
to
forgive
the
sins
of
all
Israel,
they
offered
twelve
male
goats,
one
goat
for
each
tribe
in
Israel.
18
Then
they
put
the
priests
and
the
Levites
into
their
separate
groups.
Each
group
had
a
certain
time
to
serve
God
in
the
Temple
at
Jerusalem
as
it
is
written
in
the
Book
of
Moses.
19
The
Jewish
people
who
returned
from
captivity
celebrated
the
Passover
on
the
fourteenth
day
of
the
first
month.
20
The
priests
and
Levites
had
made
themselves
clean.
Then
the
Levites
killed
the
Passover
lambs
for
all
the
people
who
had
returned
from
captivity,
for
their
relatives
the
priests,
and
for
themselves.
21
So
all
the
people
of
Israel
who
returned
from
captivity
ate
the
Passover
lamb.
So
did
the
people
who
had
given
up
the
unclean
ways
of
their
non-Jewish
neighbors
in
order
to
worship
the
Lord,
the
God
of
Israel.
22
For
seven
days
they
celebrated
the
Feast
of
Unleavened
Bread
in
a
very
joyful
way.
The
Lord
had
made
them
happy
by
changing
the
mind
of
the
king
of
Assyria
so
that
he
helped
them
in
the
work
on
the
Temple
of
the
God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28
28

shown
me,
Ezra,
his
love
in
the
presence
of
the
king,
those
who
advise
the
king,
and
the
royal
officers.
Because
the
Lord
my
God
was
helping
me,
I
had
courage,
and
I
gathered
the
leaders
of
Israel
to
return
with
me.

the

fear

who
put
their
hope
in
his
love.

in

And
put

Also
I

a

as
to
what
you
shall

for
the

that

that
the

so
that

exactly.
13
Then

Shethar-boznai,

exactly
did
so,

joy.
17
And
they
offered
at
the
dedication
of
this
house
of
God
a
hundred
bulls,
two
hundred
rams,
four
hundred
lambs,
and
twelve
male
goats,
for
a
sin
offering
for
all
Israel,
according
to
the
number
of
the
tribes
of
Israel.
18
And
they
raised
up
the
priests
in
their
sections,
and
the
Levites
in
their
divisions,
for
the
service
of
God
which
is
in
Jerusalem,
as
it
is
written
in
the
book
of
Moses.
19
And
the
sons
of
the
exile
performed
the
Passover
on
the
fourteenth
of
the
first
month.
20
For
the
priests
and
the
Levites
were
purified
together;
all
of
them
were
pure.
And
they
slaughtered
the
passover
lamb
for
all
the
sons
of
the
exile,
and
for
their
brothers
the
priests,
and
for
themselves.
21
And
the
sons
of
Israel
ate,
those
who
had
returned
from
the
exile,
and
who
had
all
separated
themselves
to
them
from
the
impurity
of
the
nations
of
the
land,
to
seek
Jehovah
the
God
of
Israel.
22
And
they
performed
the
Feast
of
Unleavened
Bread
seven
days
with
joy.
For
Jehovah
had
made
them
joyful,
and
had
turned
the
heart
of
the
king
of
Assyria
to
them,
to
make
their
hands
strong
in
the
work
of
the
house
of
God,
the
God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28
28
And
He
has
extended
mercy
to
me
before
the
king
and
his
counselors,
and
before
all
the
king's
mighty
leaders.
And
I
was
made
strong,
as
the
hand
of
Jehovah
my
God
was
on
me.
And
I
gathered
out
of
Israel
chief
men
to
go
up
with
me.
Psalms 33:18
18
Behold
the
eye
of
Jehovah
is
to
those
who
fear
Him,
on
those
who
hope
in
His
mercy;

In
the
first
year
of
King
Cyrus,
he
issued
a
decree
concerning
the
house
of
God
in
Jerusalem:
Let
the
house
be
rebuilt
as
a
place
for
offering
sacrifices,
and
let
its
original
foundations
be
retained.
Its
height
is

The

The
gold
and
silver
articles
of
God's
house
that
Nebuchadnezzar
took
from
the
temple
in
Jerusalem
and
carried
to
Babylon
must
also
be
returned.
They
are
to
be
brought
to
the
temple
in
Jerusalem,
where
they
belong,
and
put
into
the
house
of
God.
6
Therefore,
you
must
stay
away
from
that
place,
Tattenai
governor
of
the
region
west
of
the
Euphrates
River,
Shethar-bozenai,
and
your
colleagues,
the
officials
in
the
region.
7
Leave
the
construction
of
this
house
of
God
alone.
Let
the
governor
and
elders
of
the
Jews
rebuild
this
house
of
God
on
its

8
I
hereby
issue
a
decree
concerning
what
you
must
do,
so
that
the
elders
of
the
Jews
can
rebuild
this
house
of
God:
The
cost
is
to
be
paid
in
full
to
these
men
out
of
the
royal
revenues
from
the
taxes
of
the
region

so
that
the

Whatever
is
needed--
young
bulls,
rams,
and
lambs
for
burnt
offerings
to
the
God
of
heaven,
or
wheat,
salt,
wine,
and
oil,
as
requested
by
the
priests
in
Jerusalem--
let
it
be
given
to
them
every
day
without
fail,
10
so
that
they
can
offer
sacrifices
of
pleasing
aroma
to
the
God
of
heaven
and
pray
for
the
life
of
the
king
and
his
sons.
11
I
also
issue
a
decree
concerning
any
man
who
interferes
with
this
directive:
Let
a
beam
be
torn
from
his
house
and
raised
up;
he
will
be
impaled
on
it,
and
his
house
will
be
made
into
a
garbage
dump
because
of
this
offense
.
12
May
the
God
who
caused
His
name
to
dwell
there
overthrow
any
king
or
people
who
dares
to
harm
or
interfere
with
this
house
of
God
in
Jerusalem.
I,
Darius,
have
issued
the
decree.
Let
it
be
carried
out
diligently.
13
Then
Tattenai
governor
of
the
region
west
of
the
Euphrates
River,
Shethar-bozenai,
and
their
colleagues
diligently
carried
out
what
King
Darius
had
decreed.
14
So
the
Jewish
elders
continued
successfully
with
the
building
under
the
prophesying
of
Haggai
the
prophet
and
Zechariah
son
of
Iddo.
They
finished
the
building
according
to
the
command
of
the
God
of
Israel
and
the
decrees
of
Cyrus,
Darius,
and
King
Artaxerxes
of
Persia.
15
This
house
was
completed
on
the
third
day
of
the
month
of
Adar
in
the
sixth
year
of
the
reign
of
King
Darius.
16
Then
the
Israelites,
including
the
priests,
the
Levites,
and
the
rest
of
the
exiles,
celebrated
the
dedication
of
this
house
of
God
with
joy.
17
For
the
dedication
of
God's
house
they
offered
100
bulls,
200
rams,
and
400
lambs,
as
well
as
12
male
goats
as
a
sin
offering
for
all
Israel--
one
for
each
Israelite
tribe.
18
They
also
appointed
the
priests
by
their
divisions
and
the
Levites
by
their
groups
to
the
service
of
God
in
Jerusalem,
according
to
what
is
written
in
the
book
of
Moses.
19
The
exiles
observed
the
Passover
on
the
fourteenth
day
of
the
first
month.
20
All
of
the
priests
and
Levites
were
ceremonially
clean,
because
they
had
purified
themselves.
They
killed
the
Passover
lamb
for
themselves,
their
priestly
brothers,
and
all
the
exiles.
21
The
Israelites
who
had
returned
from
exile
ate
it
,
together
with
all
who
had
separated
themselves
from
the
uncleanness
of
the
Gentiles
of
the
land
in
order
to
worship
the
LORD,
the
God
of
Israel.
22
They
observed
the
Festival
of
Unleavened
Bread
for
seven
days
with
joy,
because
the
LORD
had
made
them
joyful,
having
changed
the
Assyrian
king's
attitude
toward
them,
so
that
he
supported
them
in
the
work
on
the
house
of
the
God
of
Israel.
Ezra 7:28
28
and
who
has
shown
favor
to
me
before
the
king,
his

and
all
his
powerful
officers.
So
I
took
courage
because
I
was
strengthened
by
the
LORD
my
God,
and
I
gathered
Israelite
leaders
to
return
with
me.
Psalms 33:18
18
Now
the
eye
of
the
LORD
is
on
those
who
fear
Him--
those
who
depend
on
His
faithful
love
