a
mighty
man
in
valour,
but
he
was
a
leper.
2
And
the
Syrians
had
gone
out
by
companies,
and
had
brought
away
captive
out
of
the
land
of
Israel
a
little
maid;
and
she
waited
on
Naaman's
wife.
3
And
she
said
unto
her
mistress,
Would
God
my
lord
were
with
the
prophet
that
is
in
Samaria!
for
he
would
recover
him
of
his
leprosy.
4
And
one
went
in,
and
told
his
lord,
saying,
Thus
and
thus
said
the
maid
that
is
of
the
land
of
Israel.
5
And
the
king
of
Syria
said,
Go
to,
go,
and
I
will
send
a
letter
unto
the
king
of
Israel.
And
he
departed,
and
took
with
him
ten
talents
of
silver,
and
six
thousand
pieces
of
gold,
and
ten
changes
of
raiment.
6
And
he
brought
the
letter
to
the
king
of
Israel,
saying,
Now
when
this
letter
is
come
unto
thee,
behold,
I
have
therewith
sent
Naaman
my
servant
to
thee,
that
thou
mayest
recover
him
of
his
leprosy.
7
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
the
king
of
Israel
had
read
the
letter,
that
he
rent
his
clothes,
and
said,
Am
I
God,
to
kill
and
to
make
alive,
that
this
man
doth
send
unto
me
to
recover
a
man
of
his
leprosy?
wherefore
consider,
I
pray
you,
and
see
how
he
seeketh
a
quarrel
against
me.
8
And
it
was
so,
when
Elisha
the
man
of
God
had
heard
that
the
king
of
Israel
had
rent
his
clothes,
that
he
sent
to
the
king,
saying,
Wherefore
hast
thou
rent
thy
clothes?
let
him
come
now
to
me,
and
he
shall
know
that
there
is
a
prophet
in
Israel.
9
So
Naaman
came
with
his
horses
and
with
his
chariot,
and
stood
at
the
door
of
the
house
of
Elisha.
10
And
Elisha
sent
a
messenger
unto
him,
saying,
Go
and
wash
in
Jordan
seven
times,
and
thy
flesh
shall
come
again
to
thee,
and
thou
shalt
be
clean.
11
But
Naaman
was
wroth,
and
went
away,
and
said,
Behold,
I
thought,
He
will
surely
come
out
to
me,
and
stand,
and
call
on
the
name
of
the
LORD
his
God,
and
strike
his
hand
over
the
place,
and
recover
the
leper.
12
Are
not
Abana
and
Pharpar,
rivers
of
Damascus,
better
than
all
the
waters
of
Israel?
may
I
not
wash
in
them,
and
be
clean?
So
he
turned
and
went
away
in
a
rage.
13
And
his
servants
came
near,
and
spake
unto
him,
and
said,
My
father,
if
the
prophet
had
bid
thee
do
some
great
thing,
wouldest
thou
not
have
done
it?
how
much
rather
then,
when
he
saith
to
thee,
Wash,
and
be
clean?
14
Then
went
he
down,
and
dipped
himself
seven
times
in
Jordan,
according
to
the
saying
of
the
man
of
God:
and
his
flesh
came
again
like
unto
the
flesh
of
a
little
child,
and
he
was
clean.
15
And
he
returned
to
the
man
of
God,
he
and
all
his
company,
and
came,
and
stood
before
him:
and
he
said,
Behold,
now
I
know
that
there
is
no
God
in
all
the
earth,
but
in
Israel:
now
therefore,
I
pray
thee,
take
a
blessing
of
thy
servant.
16
But
he
said,
As
the
LORD
liveth,
before
whom
I
stand,
I
will
receive
none.
And
he
urged
him
to
take
it;
but
he
refused.
17
And
Naaman
said,
Shall
there
not
then,
I
pray
thee,
be
given
to
thy
servant
two
mules'
burden
of
earth?
for
thy
servant
will
henceforth
offer
neither
burnt
offering
nor
sacrifice
unto
other
gods,
but
unto
the
LORD.
18
In
this
thing
the
LORD
pardon
thy
servant,
that
when
my
master
goeth
into
the
house
of
Rimmon
to
worship
there,
and
he
leaneth
on
my
hand,
and
I
bow
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon:
when
I
bow
down
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon,
the
LORD
pardon
thy
servant
in
this
thing.
19
And
he
said
unto
him,
Go
in
peace.
So
he
departed
from
him
a
little
way.
20
But
Gehazi,
the
servant
of
Elisha
the
man
of
God,
said,
Behold,
my
master
hath
spared
Naaman
this
Syrian,
in
not
receiving
at
his
hands
that
which
he
brought:
but,
as
the
LORD
liveth,
I
will
run
after
him,
and
take
somewhat
of
him.
21
So
Gehazi
followed
after
Naaman.
And
when
Naaman
saw
him
running
after
him,
he
lighted
down
from
the
chariot
to
meet
him,
and
said,
Is
all
well?
22
And
he
said,
All
is
well.
My
master
hath
sent
me,
saying,
Behold,
even
now
there
be
come
to
me
from
mount
Ephraim
two
young
men
of
the
sons
of
the
prophets:
give
them,
I
pray
thee,
a
talent
of
silver,
and
two
changes
of
garments.
23
And
Naaman
said,
Be
content,
take
two
talents.
And
he
urged
him,
and
bound
two
talents
of
silver
in
two
bags,
with
two
changes
of
garments,
and
laid
them
upon
two
of
his
servants;
and
they
bare
them
before
him.
24
And
when
he
came
to
the
tower,
he
took
them
from
their
hand,
and
bestowed
them
in
the
house:
and
he
let
the
men
go,
and
they
departed.
25
But
he
went
in,
and
stood
before
his
master.
And
Elisha
said
unto
him,
Whence
comest
thou,
Gehazi?
And
he
said,
Thy
servant
went
no
whither.
26
And
he
said
unto
him,
Went
not
mine
heart
with
thee,
when
the
man
turned
again
from
his
chariot
to
meet
thee?
Is
it
a
time
to
receive
money,
and
to
receive
garments,
and
oliveyards,
and
vineyards,
and
sheep,
and
oxen,
and
menservants,
and
maidservants?
27
The
leprosy
therefore
of
Naaman
shall
cleave
unto
thee,
and
unto
thy
seed
for
ever.
And
he
went
out
from
his
presence
a
leper
as
white
as
snow.

he
urged

him

H3985
17
And
Naaman

In

H1697
the
LORD
H3068
pardon
H5545
thy

H5650
that
when
my

H113
goeth
H935
into
the

Rimmon:
H7417

H7812
in
the

H1004
of
Rimmon,
H7417
the
LORD
H3068

H5545
thy

H5650
in
this
H2088
thing.
H1697
19
And
he
said
H559
unto
him,
Go
H1980
in
peace.
H7965
So
he
departed
H1980
from
H4480
H854
him
a
little
way
H3530
H776
.
20
But
Gehazi,
H1522
the
servant
H5288
of
Elisha
H477
the
man
H376
of
God,
H430
said,
H559
Behold,
H2009
my

H113
hath
spared
H2820
H853
Naaman
H5283
this
H2088
Syrian,
H761
in
not
receiving
H4480
H3947
at
his
hands
H4480
H3027
H853
that
which
H834
he
brought:
H935
but
H3588
H518
,
as
the
LORD
H3068
liveth,
H2416
I
will
run
H7323
after
H310
him
,
and
take
H3947
somewhat
H3972
of
H4480
H854
him.
21
So
Gehazi
H1522
followed
H7291
after
H310
Naaman.
H5283
And
when
Naaman
H5283
saw
H7200
him
running
H7323
after
H310
him
,
he
lighted
down
H5307
from
H4480
H5921
the
chariot
H4818
to
meet
H7122
him
,
and
said,
H559
Is
all
well
H7965
?
22
And
he
said,
H559
All
is
well.
H7965
My

H113

H7971
me,
saying,
H559

H5030
give
H5414
them

I
pray
thee,
H4994
a
talent
H3603
of
silver,
H3701
and
two
H8147
changes
H2487
of
garments.
H899
23
And
Naaman
H5283
said,
H559
Be
content,
H2974
take
H3947
two
talents.
H3603
And
he
urged
H6555
him
,
and
bound
H6696
two
talents
H3603
of
silver
H3701
in
two
H8147
bags,
H2754
with
two
H8147
changes
H2487
of
garments,
H899
and
laid
H5414
them
upon
H413
two
H8147
of
his
servants;
H5288
and
they
bore
H5375
them
before
H6440
him.
24
And
when
he
came
H935
to
H413
the
tower,
H6076
he
took
H3947
them
from
their
hand
H4480
H3027
,
and
bestowed
H6485
them
in
the
house:
H1004
and
he
let
H853
the
men
H376
go,
H7971
and
they
departed.
H1980
25
But
he
H1931
went
in,
H935
and
stood
H5975
before
H413
his
master.
H113
And
Elisha
H477
said
H559
unto
H413
him,
Whence
H4480
H370
comest
thou
,
Gehazi
H1522
?
And
he
said,
H559
Thy
servant
H5650
went
H1980
no
H3808
whither
H575
H575
.
26
And
he
said
H559
unto
H413
him,
Went
H1980
not
H3808
mine
heart
H3820
with
thee
,
when
H834
the
man
H376
turned
again
H2015
from
H4480
H5921
his
chariot
H4818
to
meet
H7122
thee?
Is
it
a
time
H6256
to
receive
H3947
H853
money,
H3701
and
to
receive
H3947
garments,
H899
and
oliveyards,
H2132
and
vineyards,
H3754
and
sheep,
H6629
and
oxen,
H1241
and
menservants,
H5650
and
maidservants
H8198
?
27
The
leprosy
H6883
therefore
of
Naaman
H5283
shall
cleave
H1692
unto
thee
,
and
unto
thy
seed
H2233
forever.
H5769
And
he
went
out
H3318
from
his
presence
H4480
H6440
a
leper
H6879
as
white
as
snow.

all
his

thee,
to
thy

a

mules`
burden
of
earth,
for
thy

doth

no
more
burnt-offering
and
sacrifice
to
other
gods,
but
to
Jehovah.
18
For
this
thing
Jehovah
be
propitious
to
thy
servant,
in
the
coming
in
of
my
lord
into
the
house
of
Rimmon
to
bow
himself
there,
and
he
was
supported
by
my
hand,
and
I
bowed
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon;
for
my
bowing
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon
Jehovah
be
propitious,
I
pray
thee,
to
thy
servant
in
this
thing.`
19
And
he
saith
to
him,
`Go
in
peace.`
And
he
goeth
from
him
a
kibrath
of
land,
20
And
Gehazi,
servant
of
Elisha
the
man
of
God,
saith,
`Lo,
my
lord
hath
spared
Naaman
this
Aramaean,
not
to
receive
from
his
hand
that
which
he
brought;
Jehovah
liveth;
surely
if
I
have
run
after
him,
then
I
have
taken
from
him
something.`
21
And
Gehazi
pursueth
after
Naaman,
and
Naaman
seeth
one
running
after
him,
and
alighteth
from
off
the
chariot
to
meet
him,
and
saith,
`Is
there
peace?`
22
And
he
saith,
`Peace;
my
lord
hath
sent
me,
saying,
Lo,
now,
this,
come
unto
me
have
two
young
men
from
the
hill-country
of
Ephraim,
of
the
sons
of
the
prophets;
give,
I
pray
thee,
to
them,
a
talent
of
silver,
and
two
changes
of
garments.`
23
And
Naaman
saith,
`Be
pleased,
take
two
talents;`
and
he
urgeth
on
him,
and
bindeth
two
talents
of
silver
in
two
purses,
and
two
changes
of
garments,
and
giveth
unto
two
of
his
young
men,
and
they
bear
before
him;
24
and
he
cometh
in
unto
the
high
place,
and
taketh
out
of
their
hand,
and
layeth
up
in
the
house,
and
sendeth
away
the
men,
and
they
go.
25
And
he
hath
come
in,
and
doth
stand
by
his
lord,
and
Elisha
saith
unto
him,
`Whence
--
Gehazi?`
and
he
saith,
`Thy
servant
went
not
hither
or
thither.`
26
And
he
saith
unto
him,
`My
heart
went
not
when
the
man
turned
from
off
his
chariot
to
meet
thee;
is
it
a
time
to
take
silver,
and
to
take
garments,
and
olives,
and
vines,
and
flock,
and
herd,
and
men-servants,
and
maid-servants?
27
yea,
the
leprosy
of
Naaman
doth
cleave
to
thee,
and
to
thy
seed,
--
to
the
age;`
and
he
goeth
out
from
before
him
--
leprous
as
snow.

to
kill
and
to
make
alive,
that
this
man
doth
send
unto
me
to
recover
a
man
of
his
leprosy?
but
consider,
I
pray
you,
and
see
how
he
seeketh
a
quarrel
against
me.
8
And
it
was
so,
when
Elisha
the
man
of
God
heard
that
the
king
of
Israel
had
rent
his
clothes,
that
he
sent
to
the
king,
saying,
Wherefore
hast
thou
rent
thy
clothes?
let
him
come
now
to
me,
and
he
shall
know
that
there
is
a
prophet
in
Israel.
9
So
Naaman
came
with
his
horses
and
with
his
chariots,
and
stood
at
the
door
of
the
house
of
Elisha.
10
And
Elisha
sent
a
messenger
unto
him,
saying,
Go
and
wash
in
the
Jordan
seven
times,
and
thy
flesh
shall
come
again
to
thee,
and
thou
shalt
be
clean.
11
But
Naaman
was
wroth,
and
went
away,
and
said,
Behold,
I
thought,
He
will
surely
come
out
to
me,
and
stand,
and
call
on
the
name
of
Jehovah
his
God,
and
wave
his
hand
over
the
place,
and
recover
the
leper.
12
Are
not
Abanah
and
Pharpar,
the
rivers
of
Damascus,
better
than
all
the
waters
of
Israel?
may
I
not
wash
in
them,
and
be
clean?
So
he
turned
and
went
away
in
a
rage.
13
And
his
servants
came
near,
and
spake
unto
him,
and
said,
My
father,
if
the
prophet
had
bid
thee
do
some
great
thing,
wouldest
thou
not
have
done
it?
how
much
rather
then,
when
he
saith
to
thee,
Wash,
and
be
clean?
14
Then
went
he
down,
and
dipped
himself
seven
times
in
the
Jordan,
according
to
the
saying
of
the
man
of
God;
and
his
flesh
came
again
like
unto
the
flesh
of
a
little
child,
and
he
was
clean.
15
And
he
returned
to
the
man
of
God,
he
and
all
his
company,
and
came,
and
stood
before
him;
and
he
said,
Behold
now,
I
know
that
there
is
no
God
in
all
the
earth,
but
in
Israel:
now
therefore,
I
pray
thee,
take
a
present
of
thy
servant.
16
But
he
said,
As
Jehovah
liveth,
before
whom
I
stand,
I
will
receive
none.
And
he
urged
him
to
take
it;
but
he
refused.
17
And
Naaman
said,
If
not,
yet,
I
pray
thee,
let
there
be
given
to
thy
servant
two
mules
burden
of
earth;
for
thy
servant
will
henceforth
offer
neither
burnt-offering
nor
sacrifice
unto
other
gods,
but
unto
Jehovah.
18
In
this
thing
Jehovah
pardon
thy
servant:
when
my
master
goeth
into
the
house
of
Rimmon
to
worship
there,
and
he
leaneth
on
my
hand,
and
I
bow
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon,
when
I
bow
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon,
Jehovah
pardon
thy
servant
in
this
thing.
19
And
he
said
unto
him,
Go
in
peace.
So
he
departed
from
him
a
little
way.
20
But
Gehazi
the
servant
of
Elisha
the
man
of
God,
said,
Behold,
my
master
hath
spared
this
Naaman
the
Syrian,
in
not
receiving
at
his
hands
that
which
he
brought:
as
Jehovah
liveth,
I
will
run
after
him,
and
take
somewhat
of
him.
21
So
Gehazi
followed
after
Naaman.
And
when
Naaman
saw
one
running
after
him,
he
alighted
from
the
chariot
to
meet
him,
and
said,
Is
all
well?
22
And
he
said,
All
is
well.
My
master
hath
sent
me,
saying,
Behold,
even
now
there
are
come
to
me
from
the
hill-country
of
Ephraim
two
young
men
of
the
sons
of
the
prophets;
give
them,
I
pray
thee,
a
talent
of
silver,
and
two
changes
of
raiment.
23
And
Naaman
said,
Be
pleased
to
take
two
talents.
And
he
urged
him,
and
bound
two
talents
of
silver
in
two
bags,
with
two
changes
of
raiment,
and
laid
them
upon
two
of
his
servants;
and
they
bare
them
before
him.
24
And
when
he
came
to
the
hill,
he
took
them
from
their
hand,
and
bestowed
them
in
the
house;
and
he
let
the
men
go,
and
they
departed.
25
But
he
went
in,
and
stood
before
his
master.
And
Elisha
said
unto
him,
Whence
comest
thou,
Gehazi?
And
he
said,
Thy
servant
went
no
whither.
26
And
he
said
unto
him,
Went
not
my
heart
with
thee,
when
the
man
turned
from
his
chariot
to
meet
thee?
Is
it
a
time
to
receive
money,
and
to
receive
garments,
and
oliveyards
and
vineyards,
and
sheep
and
oxen,
and
men-servants
and
maid-servants?
27
The
leprosy
therefore
of
Naaman
shall
cleave
unto
thee,
and
unto
thy
seed
for
ever.
And
he
went
out
from
his
presence
a
leper
as
white
as
snow.

the
name
of
the
LORD
his
God,
and
wave
his
hand
over
the
place,
and
recover
the
leper.
12
Are
not
Abanah
and
Pharpar,
the
rivers
of
Damascus,
better
than
all
the
waters
of
Israel?
may
I
not
wash
in
them,
and
be
clean?
So
he
turned
and
went
away
in
a
rage.
13
And
his
servants
came
near,
and
spake
unto
him,
and
said,
My
father,
if
the
prophet
had
bid
thee
do
some
great
thing,
wouldest
thou
not
have
done
it?
how
much
rather
then,
when
he
saith
to
thee,
Wash,
and
be
clean?
14
Then
went
he
down,
and
dipped
himself
seven
times
in
Jordan,
according
to
the
saying
of
the
man
of
God:
and
his
flesh
came
again
like
unto
the
flesh
of
a
little
child,
and
he
was
clean.
15
And
he
returned
to
the
man
of
God,
he
and
all
his
company,
and
came,
and
stood
before
him:
and
he
said,
Behold
now,
I
know
that
there
is
no
God
in
all
the
earth,
but
in
Israel:
now
therefore,
I
pray
thee,
take
a
present
of
thy
servant.
16
But
he
said,
As
the
LORD
liveth,
before
whom
I
stand,
I
will
receive
none.
And
he
urged
him
to
take
it;
but
he
refused.
17
And
Naaman
said,
If
not,
yet
I
pray
thee
let
there
be
given
to
thy
servant
two
mules
burden
of
earth;
for
thy
servant
will
henceforth
offer
neither
burnt
offering
nor
sacrifice
unto
other
gods,
but
unto
the
LORD.
18
In
this
thing
the
LORD
pardon
thy
servant;
when
my
master
goeth
into
the
house
of
Rimmon
to
worship
there,
and
he
leaneth
on
my
hand,
and
I
bow
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon,
when
I
bow
myself
in
the
house
of
Rimmon,
the
LORD
pardon
thy
servant
in
this
thing.
19
And
he
said
unto
him,
Go
in
peace.
So
he
departed
from
him
a
little
way.
20
But
Gehazi,
the
servant
of
Elisha
the
man
of
God,
said,
Behold,
my
master
hath
spared
this
Naaman
the
Syrian,
in
not
receiving
at
his
hands
that
which
he
brought:
as
the
LORD
liveth,
I
will
run
after
him,
and
take
somewhat
of
him.
21
So
Gehazi
followed
after
Naaman.
And
when
Naaman
saw
one
running
after
him,
he
lighted
down
from
the
chariot
to
meet
him,
and
said,
Is
all
well?
22
And
he
said,
All
is
well.
My
master
hath
sent
me,
saying,
Behold,
even
now
there
be
come
to
me
from
the
hill
country
of
Ephraim
two
young
men
of
the
sons
of
the
prophets;
give
them,
I
pray
thee,
a
talent
of
silver,
and
two
changes
of
raiment.
23
And
Naaman
said,
Be
content,
take
two
talents.
And
he
urged
him,
and
bound
two
talents
of
silver
in
two
bags,
with
two
changes
of
raiment,
and
laid
them
upon
two
of
his
servants;
and
they
bare
them
before
him.
24
And
when
he
came
to
the
hill,
he
took
them
from
their
hand,
and
bestowed
them
in
the
house:
and
he
let
the
men
go,
and
they
departed.
25
But
he
went
in,
and
stood
before
his
master.
And
Elisha
said
unto
him,
Whence
comest
thou,
Gehazi?
And
he
said,
Thy
servant
went
no
whither.
26
And
he
said
unto
him,
Went
not
mine
heart
{cf15i
with
thee},
when
the
man
turned
again
from
his
chariot
to
meet
thee?
Is
it
a
time
to
receive
money,
and
to
receive
garments,
and
oliveyards
and
vineyards,
and
sheep
and
oxen,
and
menservants
and
maidservants?
27
The
leprosy
therefore
of
Naaman
shall
cleave
unto
thee,
and
unto
thy
seed
for
ever.
And
he
went
out
from
his
presence
a
leper
{cf15i
as
white}
as
snow.

Now
Naaman,
the
commander
of
the
king
of
Syria's
army,
was
esteemed
and
respected
by
his
master,
for
through
him
the
LORD
had
given
Syria
military
victories.
But
this
great
warrior
had
a
skin
disease.
2
Raiding

from
Syria
and
took
captive
from
the
land
of
Israel
a
young
girl,
who
became
a
servant
to
Naaman's
wife.
3
She
told
her
mistress,
"If
only
my
master
were
in
the
presence
of
the
prophet
who
is
in
Samaria!
Then
he
would
cure
him
of
his
skin
disease."
4
Naaman
went
and
told
his
master
what
the
girl
from
the
land
of
Israel
had
said.
5
The
king
of
Syria
said,
"Go!
I
will
send
a
letter
to
the
king
of
Israel."
So
Naaman
went,
taking
with
him
ten
talents
of
silver,
six
thousand
shekels
of
gold,
and
ten
suits
of
clothes.
6
He
brought
the
letter
to
king
of
Israel.
It
read:
"This
is
a
letter
of
introduction
for
my
servant
Naaman,
whom
I
have
sent
to
be
cured
of
his
skin
disease."
7
When
the
king
of
Israel
read
the
letter,
he
tore
his
clothes
and
said,
"Am
I
God?
Can
I
kill
or
restore
life?
Why
does
he
ask
me
to
cure
a
man
of
his
skin
disease?
Certainly
you
must
see
that
he
is
looking
for
an
excuse
to
fight
me!"
8
When
Elisha
the
prophet
heard
that
the
king
had
torn
his
clothes,
he
sent
this
message
to
the
king,
"Why
did
you
tear
your
clothes?
Send
him
to
me
so
he
may
know
there
is
a
prophet
in
Israel."
9
So
Naaman
came
with
his
horses
and
chariots
and
stood
in
the
doorway
of
Elisha's
house.
10
Elisha
sent
out
a
messenger
who
told
him,
"Go
and
wash
seven
times
in
the
Jordan;
your
skin
will
be
restored
and
you
will
be
healed."
11
Naaman
went
away
angry.
He
said,
"Look,
I
thought
for
sure
he
would
come
out,
stand
there,
invoke
the
name
of
the
LORD
his
God,
wave
his
hand
over
the
area,
and
cure
the
skin
disease.
12
The
rivers
of
Damascus,
the
Abana
and
Pharpar,
are
better
than
any
of
the
waters
of
Israel!
Could
I
not
wash
in
them
and
be
healed?"
So
he
turned
around
and
went
away
angry.
13
His
servants
approached
and
said
to
him,
"O
master,
if
the
prophet
had
told
you
to
do
some
difficult
task,
you
would
have
been
willing
to
do
it.
It
seems
you
should
be
happy
that
he
simply
said,
"Wash
and
you
will
be
healed."
14
So
he
went
down
and
dipped
in
the
Jordan
seven
times,
as
the
prophet
had
instructed.
His
skin
became
as
smooth
as
a
young
child's
and
he
was
healed.
15
He
and
his
entire
entourage
returned
to
the
prophet.
Naaman
came
and
stood
before
him.
He
said,
"For
sure
I
know
that
there
is
no
God
in
all
the
earth
except
in
Israel!
Now,
please
accept
a
gift
from
your
servant."
16
But
Elisha
replied,
"As
certainly
as
the
LORD
lives
(whom
I
serve),
I
will
take
nothing
from
you."
Naaman
insisted
that
he
take
it,
but
he
refused.
17
Naaman
said,
"If
not,
then
please
give
your
servant
a
load
of
dirt,
enough
for
a
pair
of
mules
to
carry,
for
your
servant
will
never
again
offer
a
burnt
offering
or
sacrifice
to
a
god
other
than
the
LORD.
18
May
the
LORD
forgive
your
servant
for
this
one
thing:
When
my
master
enters
the
temple
of
Rimmon
to
worship,
and
he
leans
on
my
arm
and
I
bow
down
in
the
temple
of
Rimmon,
may
the
LORD
forgive
your
servant
for
this."
19
Elisha
said
to
him,
"Go
in
peace."
When
he
had
gone
a
short
distance,
20
Gehazi,
the
prophet
Elisha's
servant,
thought,
"Look,
my
master
did
not
accept
what
this
Syrian
Naaman
offered
him.
As
certainly
as
the
LORD
lives,
I
will
run
after
him
and
accept
something
from
him."
21
So
Gehazi
ran
after
Naaman.
When
Naaman
saw
someone
running
after
him,
he
got
down
from
his
chariot
to
meet
him
and
asked,
"Is
everything
all
right?"
22
He
answered,
"Everything
is
fine.
My
master
sent
me
with
this
message,
'Look,
two
servants
of
the
prophets
just
arrived
from
the
Ephraimite
hill
country.
Please
give
them
a
talent
of
silver
and
two
suits
of
clothes.'"
23
Naaman
said,
"Please
accept
two
talents
of
silver.
He
insisted,
and
tied
up
two
talents
of
silver
in
two
bags,
along
with
two
suits
of
clothes.
He
gave
them
to
two
of
his
servants
and
they
carried
them
for
Gehazi.
24
When
he
arrived
at
the
hill,
he
took
them
from
the
servants
and
put
them
in
the
house.
Then
he
sent
the
men
on
their
way.
25
When
he
came
and
stood
before
his
master,
Elisha
asked
him,
"Where
have
you
been,
Gehazi?"
He
answered,
"Your
servant
hasn't
been
anywhere."
26
Elisha
replied,
"I
was
there
in
spirit
when
a
man
turned
and
got
down
from
his
chariot
to
meet
you.
This
is
not
the
proper
time
to
accept
silver
or
to
accept
clothes,
olive
groves,
vineyards,
sheep,
cattle,
and
male
and
female
servants.
27
Therefore
Naaman's
skin
disease
will
afflict
you
and
your
descendants
forever!"
When
Gehazi
went
out
from
his
presence,
his
skin
was
as
white
as
snow.

One

Israel.
This
girl
became
a

of
Naaman's

3
She

to
his

"I

Naaman
went

what
the

said.
5
Then
the
king
of
Aram
said,
"Go

I
will
send
a
letter
to
the
king
of
Israel."
So
Naaman
went
to
Israel.
He
took
750
pounds
of
silver,
6000
pieces
of
gold
and
ten
changes
of
clothes
as
gifts.
6
Naaman
took
the
letter
from
the
king
of
Aram
to
the
king
of
Israel.
The
letter
said:
"Now
this
letter
is
to
show
that
I
am
sending
my
servant
Naaman
to
you.
Cure
his
leprosy."
7
When
the
king
of
Israel
had
read
the
letter,
he
tore
his
clothes
to
show
he
was
sad
and
upset.
He
said,
"Am
I
God?
I
don't
have
the
power
over
life
and
death.
So
why
did
the
king
of
Aram
send
a
man
sick
with
leprosy
for
me
to
heal?
Think
about
it,
and
you
will
see
that
it
is
a
trick.
The
king
of
Aram
is
trying
to
start
a
fight."
8
Elisha,
the
man
of
God,
heard
that
the
king
of
Israel
had
torn
his
clothes.
So
Elisha
sent
this
message
to
the
king:
"Why
did
you
tear
your
clothes?
Let
Naaman
come
to
me.
Then
he
will
know
there
is
a
prophet
in
Israel."
9
So
Naaman
came
with
his
horses
and
chariots
to
Elisha's
house
and
stood
outside
the
door.
10
Elisha
sent
a
messenger
to
Naaman
who
said,
"Go
and
wash
in
the
Jordan
River
seven
times.
Then
your
skin
will
be
healed,
and
you
will
be
pure
and
clean."
11
Naaman
became
angry
and
left.
He
said,
"I
thought
Elisha
would
at
least
come
out
and
stand
in
front
of
me
and
call
on
the
name
of
the
Lord
his
God.
I
thought
he

12
Abana
and
Pharpar,
the
rivers

Damascus,
are
better

all
the

Israel.
Why
can't
I
wash
in
those
rivers
in
Damascus
and
become
clean?"
He
was
very
angry
and
turned
to
leave.
13
But
Naaman's
servants
went
to
him
and
talked
to
him.
They
said,
"Father,
if
the
prophet
told
you
to
do
some
great
thing,
you
would
do
it,
isn't
that
right?
But
he
said,
'Wash,
and
you
will
be
pure
and
clean.'"
14
So
Naaman
did
what
the
man
of
God
said.
He
went
down
and
dipped
himself
in
the
Jordan
River
seven
times,
and
he
became
pure
and
clean.
His
skin
became
soft
like
the
skin
of
a
baby.
15
Naaman
and
all
his
group
came
back
to
the
man
of
God.
He
stood
before
Elisha
and
said,
"Look,
I
now
know
there
is
no
God
in
all
the
earth
except
in
Israel.
Now
please
accept
a
gift
from
me."
16
But
Elisha
said,
"I
serve
the
Lord.
And
I
promise,
as
the
Lord
lives,
I
will
not
accept
any
gift."
Naaman
tried
hard
to
make
Elisha
take
the
gift,
but
he
refused.
17
Then
Naaman
said,
"If
you
will
not
accept
this
gift,
at
least
do
this
for
me.
Let
me
have
enough
dirt
from
Israel
to
fill
the
baskets
on
two
of
my
mules.
Why?
Because
I
will
never
again
offer
any
burnt
offering
or
sacrifice
to
any
other
gods.
I
will
offer
sacrifices
only
to
the
Lord!
18
And
I
now
pray
the
Lord
will
forgive
me
for
this:
In
the
future,
my
master
will
go
into
the
temple
of
Rimmon
to
worship
that
false
god.
The
king
will
want
to
lean
on
me
for
support,
so
I
must
bow
down
in
the
temple
of
Rimmon.
I
now
ask
the
Lord
to
forgive
me
when
that
happens."
19
Then
Elisha
said
to
Naaman,
"Go
in
peace."
So
Naaman
left
Elisha
and
went
a
short
way.
20
But
Gehazi,
the
servant
of
Elisha
the
man
of
God,
said,
"Look,
my
master
has
let
Naaman
the
Aramean
go
without
accepting
the
gift
that
he
brought.
As
the
Lord
lives,
I
will
run
after
Naaman
and
get
something
from
him."
21
So
Gehazi
ran
to
Naaman.
Naaman
saw
someone
running
after
him.
He
stepped
down
from
the
chariot
to
meet
Gehazi.
Naaman
said,
"Is
everything
all
right?"
22
Gehazi
said,
"Yes,
everything
is
all
right.
My
master
has
sent
me.
He
said,
'Look,
two
young
men
came
to
me
from
the
group
of
prophets
in
the
hill
country
of
Ephraim.
Please
give
them
75
pounds
of
silver
and
two
changes
of
clothes.'"
23
Naaman
said,
"Please,
take
150
pounds.
"
He
persuaded
Gehazi
to
take
the
silver.
Naaman
put
150
pounds
of
silver
in
two
bags
and
took
two
changes
of
clothes.
Then
he
gave
these
things
to
two
of
his
servants.
The
servants
carried
these
things
for
Gehazi.
24
When
Gehazi
came
to
the
hill,
he
took
these
things
from
the
servants.
He
sent
the
servants
away,
and
they
left.
Then
he
hid
those
things
in
the
house.
25
Gehazi
came
in
and
stood
before
his
master.
Elisha
said
to
Gehazi,
"Where
have
you
been
Gehazi?"
Gehazi
answered,
"I
didn't
go
anywhere."
26
Elisha
said
to
him,
"That
is
not
true!
My
heart
was
with
you
when
the
man
turned
from
his
chariot
to
meet
you.
This
is
not
the
time
to
take
money,
clothes,
olives,
grapes,
sheep,
cows,
or
men
and
women
servants.
27
Now
you
and
your
children
will
catch
Naaman's
disease.
You
will
have
leprosy
forever!"
When
Gehazi
left
Elisha,
his
skin
was
as
white
as
snow!
He
was
sick
with
leprosy.
