Genesis 15:18
18
In
the
same
day
the
LORD
made
a
covenant
with
Abram,
saying,
Unto
thy
seed
have
I
given
this
land,
from
the
river
of
Egypt
unto
the
great
river,
the
river
Euphrates:
Leviticus 23:34
34
Speak
unto
the
children
of
Israel,
saying,
The
fifteenth
day
of
this
seventh
month
shall
be
the
feast
of
tabernacles
for
seven
days
unto
the
LORD.
Numbers 34:8
8
From

Hor

point
out

unto
the
entrance
of
Hamath;
and
the
goings
forth
of
the
border

Joshua 13:5
5
And
the
land
of
the
Giblites,
and
all
Lebanon,
toward
the
sunrising,
from
Baal-gad
under
mount
Hermon
unto
the
entering
into
Hamath.

1
Now
these
are
the
nations
which
the
LORD
left,
to
prove
Israel
by
them,
even
as
many
of
Israel
as
had
not
known
all
the
wars
of
Canaan;
2
Only
that
the
generations
of
the
children
of
Israel
might
know,
to
teach
them
war,
at
the
least
such
as
before
knew
nothing
thereof;
3
Namely,
five
lords
of
the
Philistines,
and
all
the
Canaanites,
and
the
Sidonians,
and
the
Hivites
that
dwelt
in
mount
Lebanon,
from
mount
Baal-hermon
unto
the
entering
in
of
Hamath.
4
And
they
were
to
prove
Israel
by
them,
to
know
whether
they
would
hearken
unto
the
commandments
of
the
LORD,
which
he
commanded
their
fathers
by
the
hand
of
Moses.
5
And
the
children
of
Israel
dwelt
among
the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
and
Amorites,
and
Perizzites,
and
Hivites,
and
Jebusites:
6
And
they
took
their
daughters
to
be
their
wives,
and
gave
their
daughters
to
their
sons,
and
served
their
gods.
7
And
the
children
of
Israel
did
evil
in
the
sight
of
the
LORD,
and
forgat
the
LORD
their
God,
and
served
Baalim
and
the
groves.
8
Therefore
the
anger
of
the
LORD
was
hot
against
Israel,
and
he
sold
them
into
the
hand
of
Chushan-rishathaim
king
of
Mesopotamia:
and
the
children
of
Israel
served
Chushan-rishathaim
eight
years.
9
And
when
the
children
of
Israel
cried
unto
the
LORD,
the
LORD
raised
up
a
deliverer
to
the
children
of
Israel,
who
delivered
them,
even
Othniel
the
son
of
Kenaz,
Caleb’s
younger
brother.
10
And
the
Spirit
of
the
LORD
came
upon
him,
and
he
judged
Israel,
and
went
out
to
war:
and
the
LORD
delivered
Chushan-
rishathaim
king
of
Mesopotamia
into
his
hand;
and
his
hand
prevailed
against
Chushan-
rishathaim.
11
And
the
land
had
rest
forty
years.
And
Othniel
the
son
of
Kenaz
died.
12
And
the
children
of
Israel
did
evil
again
in
the
sight
of
the
LORD:
and
the
LORD
strengthened
Eglon
the
king
of
Moab
against
Israel,
because
they
had
done
evil
in
the
sight
of
the
LORD.
13
And
he
gathered
unto
him
the
children
of
Ammon
and
Amalek,
and
went
and
smote
Israel,
and
possessed
the
city
of
palm
trees.
14
So
the
children
of
Israel
served
Eglon
the
king
of
Moab
eighteen
years.
15
But
when
the
children
of
Israel
cried
unto
the
LORD,
the
LORD
raised
them
up
a
deliverer,
Ehud
the
son
of
Gera,
a
Benjamite,
a
man
lefthanded:
and
by
him
the
children
of
Israel
sent
a
present
unto
Eglon
the
king
of
Moab.
16
But
Ehud
made
him
a
dagger
which
had
two
edges,
of
a
cubit
length;
and
he
did
gird
it
under
his
raiment
upon
his
right
thigh.
17
And
he
brought
the
present
unto
Eglon
king
of
Moab:
and
Eglon
was
a
very
fat
man.
18
And
when
he
had
made
an
end
to
offer
the
present,
he
sent
away
the
people
that
bare
the
present.
19
But
he
himself
turned
again
from
the
quarries
that
were
by
Gilgal,
and
said,
I
have
a
secret
errand
unto
thee,
O
king:
who
said,
Keep
silence.
And
all
that
stood
by
him
went
out
from
him.
20
And
Ehud
came
unto
him;
and
he
was
sitting
in
a
summer
parlour,
which
he
had
for
himself
alone.
And
Ehud
said,
I
have
a
message
from
God
unto
thee.
And
he
arose
out
of
his
seat.
21
And
Ehud
put
forth
his
left
hand,
and
took
the
dagger
from
his
right
thigh,
and
thrust
it
into
his
belly:
22
And
the
haft
also
went
in
after
the
blade;
and
the
fat
closed
upon
the
blade,
so
that
he
could
not
draw
the
dagger
out
of
his
belly;
and
the
dirt
came
out.
23
Then
Ehud
went
forth
through
the
porch,
and
shut
the
doors
of
the
parlour
upon
him,
and
locked
them.
24
When
he
was
gone
out,
his
servants
came;
and
when
they
saw
that,
behold,
the
doors
of
the
parlour
were
locked,
they
said,
Surely
he
covereth
his
feet
in
his
summer
chamber.
25
And
they
tarried
till
they
were
ashamed:
and,
behold,
he
opened
not
the
doors
of
the
parlour;
therefore
they
took
a
key,
and
opened
them:
and,
behold,
their
lord
was
fallen
down
dead
on
the
earth.
26
And
Ehud
escaped
while
they
tarried,
and
passed
beyond
the
quarries,
and
escaped
unto
Seirath.
27
And
it
came
to
pass,
when
he
was
come,
that
he
blew
a
trumpet
in
the
mountain
of
Ephraim,
and
the
children
of
Israel
went
down
with
him
from
the
mount,
and
he
before
them.
28
And
he
said
unto
them,
Follow
after
me:
for
the
LORD
hath
delivered
your
enemies
the
Moabites
into
your
hand.
And
they
went
down
after
him,
and
took
the
fords
of
Jordan
toward
Moab,
and
suffered
not
a
man
to
pass
over.
29
And
they
slew
of
Moab
at
that
time
about
ten
thousand
men,
all
lusty,
and
all
men
of
valour;
and
there
escaped
not
a
man.
30
So
Moab
was
subdued
that
day
under
the
hand
of
Israel.
And
the
land
had
rest
fourscore
years.
31
And
after
him
was
Shamgar
the
son
of
Anath,
which
slew
of
the
Philistines
six
hundred
men
with
an
ox
goad:
and
he
also
delivered
Israel.
1 Kings 8:2

Ethanim,

2 Kings 14:25
25
He

of

the

of
the

of

of
his
servant
Jonah,
the

of
Amittai,
the
prophet,
which
was
of
Gath-hepher.
2 Chronicles 7:8
8
Also
at

all
Israel

a

the

Acts 7:47
47
But
Solomon
built
him
an
house.

Ehud

`A

he

off

21

Ehud
putteth
forth
his

taketh

striketh

23
And
Ehud
goeth
out
at
the
porch,
and
shutteth
the
doors
of
the
upper
chamber
upon
him,
and
hath
bolted
it
;
24
and
he
hath
gone
out,
and
his
servants
have
come
in,
and
look,
and
lo,
the
doors
of
the
upper
chamber
are
bolted,
and
they
say,
`He
is
only
covering
his
feet
in
the
inner

of
the

25
And
they
stay
till
confounded,
and
lo,
he
is
not
opening
the
doors
of
the
upper
chamber,
and
they
take
the
key,
and
open,
and
lo,
their
lord
is
fallen
to
the
earth
--
dead.
26
And
Ehud
escaped
during
their
tarrying,
and
hath
passed
by

images,
and
is
escaped

it
cometh
to

gone
out,
his
servants
came;
and
they
saw,
and,
behold,
the
doors
of
the
upper
room
were
locked;
and
they
said,
Surely
he
is
covering
his
feet
in
the
upper
chamber.
25
They
waited
until
they
were
ashamed;
and,
behold,
he
didn't
open
the
doors
of
the
upper
room:
therefore
they
took
the
key,
and
opened

26
Ehud
escaped

27
It
happened,
when
he

and
the
children
of
Israel
went
down
with
him
from
the

and
he
before
them.
28
He
said
to
them,
Follow

me;
for
Yahweh
has

your
enemies

Moabites
into
your

They
went
down
after
him,

took

he
raised
up
a
deliverer

His
name

Ehud

Gera
the
Benjaminite,
a
left-handed
man.
The
Israelites
sent
him
to
King
Eglon
of
Moab
with
their
tribute
payment.
16
Ehud
made
himself
a
sword—
it
had
two
edges
and
was
eighteen
inches
long.
He
strapped
it
under
his
coat
on
his
right
thigh.
17
He
brought
the
tribute
payment
to
King
Eglon
of
Moab.
(Now
Eglon
was
a
very
fat
man.)
18
After
Ehud
brought
the
tribute
payment,
he
dismissed
the
people
who
had
carried
it.
19
But
he
went
back
once
he
reached
the

images
at
Gilgal.
He
said
to
Eglon,
"I
have
a
secret
message
for
you,
O
king."
Eglon
said,
"Be
quiet!"
All
his
attendants
left.
20
When
Ehud
approached
him,
he
was
sitting
in
his
well-ventilated
upper
room
all
by
himself.
Ehud
said,
"I
have
a
message
from
God
for
you."
When
Eglon
rose
up
from
his
seat,
21
Ehud
reached
with
his
left
hand,
pulled
the
sword
from
his
right
thigh,
and
drove
it
into
Eglon's
belly.
22
The
handle
went
in
after
the
blade,
and
the
fat
closed
around
the
blade,
for
Ehud
did
not
pull
the
sword
out
of
his
belly.
23
As
Ehud
went
out
into
the
vestibule,
he
closed
the
doors
of
the
upper
room
behind
him
and
locked
them.
24
When
Ehud
had
left,
Eglon's
servants
came
and
saw
the
locked
doors
of
the
upper
room.
They
said,
"He
must
be
relieving
himself
in
the
well-ventilated
inner
room."
25
They
waited
so
long
they
were
embarrassed,
but
he
still
did
not
open
the
doors
of
the
upper
room.
Finally
they
took
the
key
and
opened
the
doors.
Right
before
their
eyes
was
their
master,
sprawled
out
dead
on
the
floor!

Now
Ehud
had
escaped
while
they
were
delaying.
When
he
passed
the
carved
images,
he
escaped
to
Seirah.
27
When
he
reached
Seirah,
he
blew
a
trumpet
in
the
Ephraimite
hill
country.
The
Israelites
went
down
with
him
from
the
hill
country,
with

in
the
lead.
28
He
said
to
them,

They
followed
him,

the

did
not
let

the
Israelites

Othniel

the

who

Othniel
saved
the
Israelites.

The

of
the

filled
Othniel,
and
he

the
Israelites.
He
led
the
Israelites
to
war.
The
Lord
helped
Othniel
defeat
King

Aram.

So
the
land
was
at

until
Othniel

the

Eglon

The
Israelites
cried
to
the
Lord
for

so
he
sent
a
man
named
Ehud
son

Gera
to
save
them.
Ehud
was
from
the
tribe
of
Benjamin
and
was
trained
to
fight
with
his
left
hand.
The
Israelites
sent
Ehud
with
a
gift
to
King
Eglon
of
Moab.
16
Ehud
made
himself
a
sword
with
two
sharp
edges
that
was
about
12
inches
long.
He
tied
the
sword
to
his
right
thigh
and
hid
it
under
his
uniform.
17
So
Ehud
brought
the
gift
to
King
Eglon
of
Moab.
Eglon
was
a
very
fat
man.
18
After
offering
the
gift,
Ehud
left
the
palace
with
the
men
who
had
carried
the
gift.
19
When
Ehud
reached
the
statues
near
Gilgal,
he
turned
and
went
back
to
King
Eglon
and
said,
"King,
I
have
a
secret
message
for
you."
The
king
told
him
to
be
quiet
and
then
sent
all
of
the
servants
out
of
the
room.
20
Ehud
went
to
King
Eglon.
The
king
was
sitting
all
alone
in
the
upper
room
of
his
palace.
Then
Ehud
said,
"I
have
a
message
from
God
for
you."
The
king
stood
up
from
his
throne.
He
was
very
close
to
Ehud.
21
As
the
king
was
getting
up
from
his
throne,
Ehud
reached
with
his
left
hand
and
took
out
the
sword
that
was
tied
to
his
right
thigh.
Then
he
pushed
the
sword
into
the
king's
belly.
22
The
sword
went
into
Eglon's
belly
so
far
that
even
the
handle
sank
in
and
the
fat
closed
around
it.
The
point
of
the
blade
came
out
his
back.
Ehud
left
the
sword
inside
Eglon.
23
Then
Ehud
went
out
of
the
private
room,
closed
the
doors
to
the
upper
room,
and
locked
the
king
inside.
24
Ehud
then
left
the
main
room,
and
the
servants
went
back
in.
The
servants
found
the
doors
to
the
upper
room
locked,
so
they
said,
"The
king
must
be
relieving
himself
in
his
private
toilet."
25
The
servants
waited
for
a
long
time,
but
the
king
never
opened
the
doors
to
the
upper
room.
Finally
the
servants
got
worried.
They
got
the
key
and
unlocked
the
doors.
When
the
servants
entered,
they
saw
their
king
lying
dead
on
the
floor.
26
While
the
servants
were
waiting
for
the
king,
Ehud
had
time
to
escape.
He
passed
by
the
statues
and
went
toward
the
place
named
Seirah.
27
When
Ehud
came
to
Seirah,
he
blew
a
trumpet
there
in
the
hill
country
of
Ephraim.
The
Israelites
heard
the
trumpet
and
went
down
from
the
hills
with
Ehud
leading
them.
28
He
said
to
the
Israelites,
"Follow
me!
The
Lord
has
helped
us
defeat
our
enemies,
the
Moabites."
So
the
Israelites
followed
Ehud.
They
went
down
with
him
to
take
control
of
the
places
where
people
could
easily
cross
the
Jordan
River
into
the
land
of
Moab.
The
Israelites
did
not
allow
any
one
to
go
across
the
Jordan
River.
29
They
killed
about
10,000
strong
and
brave
men
from
Moab.
Not
one
Moabite
man
escaped.
30
So
on
that
day
the
Israelites
began
to
rule
over
the
Moabites,
and
there
was
peace
in
the
land
for
80
years.
31
After
Ehud
saved
the
Israelites,
another
man
saved
Israel.
That
man's
name
was

to
kill

And
the
children
of
Israel
cried
to
the
Lord;
and
he

a

a

Or,
able

as
his

with
two
right
hands
who
used
both
hands
alike:
and
the
children
of
Israel
sent
gifts
by
his
hand
to
Eglom
king
of
Moab.
16
And
Aod
made
himself
a
dagger
of
two
edges,
of
a
span
long,
and
he
girded
it
under
his
cloak
upon
his
right
thigh.
17
And
he
went,
and
brought
the
presents
to
Eglom
king
of
Moab,
and
Eglom
was
a
very
handsome
man.
18
And
it
came
to
pass
when
Aod
had
made
an
end
of
offering
his
gifts,
that
he
dismissed
those
that
brought
the
gifts.
19
And
he
himself
returned
from
the
quarries
that
are
by
Galgal;
and
Aod
said,
I
have
a
secret
errand
to
thee,
O
king!
and
Eglom
said
to
him,
Be
silent:
and
he
sent
away
from
his
presence
all
who
waited
upon
him.
20
And
Aod
went
in
to
him;
and
he
sat
in
his
own
upper
summer
chamber
quite
alone;
and
Aod
said,
I
have
a
message
from
God
to
thee,
O
king:
and
Eglom
rose
up
from
his
throne
near
him.
21
And
it
came
to
pass
as
he
arose,
that
Aod
stretched
forth
his
left
hand,
and
took
the
dagger
off
his
right
thigh,
and
plunged
it
into
his
belly;
22
and
drove
in
also
the
haft
after
the
blade,
and
the
fat
closed
in
upon
the
blade,
for
he
drew
not
out
the
dagger
from
his
belly.
23
And
Aod
went
out
to
the
porch,
and
passed
out
by
the
appointed
guards,
and
shut
the
doors
of
the
chamber
upon
him,
and
locked
them.
24
And
he
went
out:
and
Gr.
his
Eglom’s
servants
came,
and
saw,
and
behold,
the
doors
of
the
upper
chamber
were
locked;
and
they
said,
Does
he
not
uncover
his
feet
in
the
summer-chamber?
25
And
they
waited
till
they
were
ashamed,
and,
behold,
there
Gr.
is
was
no
one
that
opened
the
doors
of
the
upper
chamber;
and
they
took
the
key,
and
opened
them;
and,
behold,
their
lord
was
fallen
down
dead
upon
the
earth.
26
And
Aod
escaped
while
they
were
in
a
tumult,
and
no
one
paid
attention
to
him;
and
he
passed
the
quarries,
and
escaped
to
Setirotha.
27
And
it
came
to
pass
when
Aod
came
into
the
land
of
Israel,
that
he
blew
the
horn
in
mount
Ephraim,
and
the
children
of
Israel
came
down
with
him
from
the
mountain,
and
he
was
before
them.
28
And
he
said
to
them,
Come
down
after
me,
for
the
Lord
God
has
delivered
our
enemies,
even
Moab,
into
our
hand;
and
they
went
down
after
him,
and
seized
on
the
fords
of
Jordan
before
Moab,
and
he
did
not
suffer
a
man
to
pass
over.
29
And
they
smote
Moab
on
that
day
about
ten
thousand
men,
every
lusty
person
and
every
mighty
man;
and
not
a
man
escaped.
30
So
Moab
was
Gr.
put
to
shame
humbled
in
that
day
under

he
too
delivered
Israel.

But
when
the
people

Israel
cried

the
Lord,
the
Lord

them
someone

them.
He
gave
them
Ehud
the
son
of
Gera,
the
Benjamite,
a
left-handed
man.
The
people
of
Israel
sent
taxes
by
him
to
Eglon
the
king
of
Moab.
16
Ehud
made
a
sword
for
himself
with
two
sharp
sides,
almost
as
long
as
an
arm.
He
tied
it
to
the
top
part
of
his
right
leg,
under
his
coat.
17
Then
he
brought
the
taxes
to
Eglon
king
of
Moab.
Now
Eglon
was
a
very
fat
man.
18
When
Ehud
had
finished
paying
the
taxes,
he
sent
away
the
people
who
had
carried
the
taxes.
19
But
he
himself
turned
around
at
the
stone
gods
of
Gilgal
and
returned
to
Eglon,
saying,
"I
have
secret
news
for
you,
O
king."
Eglon
said,
"Keep
quiet."
And
all
who
stood
by
him
went
away
from
him.
20
Ehud
came
to
him
while
Eglon
was
sitting
alone
in
his
summer
room.
And
Ehud
said,
"I
have
news
from
God
for
you."
The
king
got
up
from
his
seat.
21
Ehud
put
out
his
left
hand,
took
the
sword
from
his
right
leg,
and
pushed
it
into
Eglon's
stomach.
22
The
whole
sword
went
into
his
stomach
and
the
fat
closed
over
it.
For
he
did
not
pull
the
sword
out
of
his
stomach.
The
insides
of
Eglon's
stomach
ran
out.
23
Then
Ehud
went
out
the
back
way.
He
closed
the
doors
of
the
summer
room
behind
him,
and
locked
them.
24
When
Ehud
had
gone
out,
Eglon's
servants
came.
They
saw
that
the
doors
of
the
summer
room
were
locked.
So
they
said,
"He
is
only
resting
in
there
away
from
the
heat."
25
They
waited
until
they
were
afraid
because
Eglon
did
not
open
the
doors
of
the
summer
room.
So
they
opened
the
lock
and
looked
in
the
doors.
And
they
found
their
owner
lying
dead
on
the
floor.
26
Ehud
got
away
while
they
were
waiting.
He
passed
the
stone
gods
and
got
away
to
Seirah.
27
When
he
got
there,
he
blew
the
horn
in
the
hill
country
of
Ephraim.
Then
the
people
of
Israel
went
down
with
him
from
the
hill
country.
Ehud
went
in
front
of
them.
28
He
said
to
them,
"Go
after
them.
For
the
Lord
has
given
into
your
hands
the
Moabites
who
hate
you."
So
they
went
down
after
him.
They
took
over
the
crossing
places
of
the
Jordan
beside
Moab.
And
they
did
not
let
anyone
cross.
29
At
that
time
they
killed
about
10,000
Moabites,
all
strong
men
with
strength
of
heart.
No
one
got
away.
30
So
Moab
was

day.

seven
days.

1
These
are
the
nations
the
Lord
did
not
force
to
leave.
He
wanted
to
test
the
Israelites
who
had
not
fought
in
the
wars
of
Canaan.
2
(The
only
reason
the
Lord
left
those
nations
in
the
land
was
to
teach
the
descendants
of
the
Israelites
who
had
not
fought
in
those
wars
how
to
fight.)
3
These
are
the
nations:
the
five
rulers
of
the
Philistines,
all
the
Canaanites,
the
people
of
Sidon,
and
the
Hivites
who
lived
in
the
Lebanon
mountains
from
Mount
Baal
Hermon
to
Lebo
Hamath.
4
Those
nations
were
in
the
land
to
test
the
Israelites
--
to
see
if
they
would
obey
the
commands
the
Lord
had
given
to
their
ancestors
by
Moses.
5
The
people
of
Israel
lived
with
the
Canaanites,
Hittites,
Amorites,
Perizzites,
Hivites,
and
Jebusites.
6
The
Israelites
began
to
marry
the
daughters
of
those
people,
and
they
allowed
their
daughters
to
marry
the
sons
of
those
people.
Israel
also
served
their
gods.
Othniel,
the
First
Judge
7
The
Israelites
did
what
the
Lord
said
was
wrong.
They
forgot
about
the
Lord
their
God
and
served
the
idols
of
Baal
and
Asherah.
8
So
the
Lord
was
angry
with
Israel
and
allowed
Cushan-Rishathaim
king
of
Northwest
Mesopotamia
to
rule
over
the
Israelites
for
eight
years.
9
When
Israel
cried
to
the
Lord,
the
Lord
sent
someone
to
save
them.
Othniel
son
of
Kenaz,
Caleb's
younger
brother,
saved
the
Israelites.
10
The
Spirit
of
the
Lord
entered
Othniel,
and
he
became
Israel's
judge.
When
he
went
to
war,
the
Lord
handed
over
to
him
Cushan-Rishathaim
king
of
Northwest
Mesopotamia.
11
So
the
land
was
at
peace
for
forty
years.
Then
Othniel
son
of
Kenaz
died.
Ehud,
the
Judge
12
Again
the
people
of
Israel
did
what
the
Lord
said
was
wrong.
So
the
Lord
gave
Eglon
king
of
Moab
power
to
defeat
Israel
because
of
the
evil
Israel
did.
13
Eglon
got
the
Ammonites
and
the
Amalekites
to
join
him.
Then
he
attacked
Israel
and
took
Jericho,
the
city
of
palm
trees.
14
So
the
people
of
Israel
were
ruled
by
Eglon
king
of
Moab
for
eighteen
years.
15
When
the
people
cried
to
the
Lord,
he
sent
someone
to
save
them.
He
was
Ehud,
son
of
Gera
from
the
people
of
Benjamin,
who
was
left-handed.
Israel
sent
Ehud
to
give
Eglon
king
of
Moab
the
payment
he
demanded.
16
Ehud
made
himself
a
sword
with
two
edges,
about
eighteen
inches
long,
and
he
tied
it
to
his
right
hip
under
his
clothes.
17
Ehud
gave
Eglon
king
of
Moab
the
payment
he
demanded.
Now
Eglon
was
a
very
fat
man.
18
After
he
had
given
Eglon
the
payment,
Ehud
sent
away
the
people
who
had
carried
it.
19
When
he
passed
the
statues
near
Gilgal,
he
turned
around
and
said
to
Eglon,
"I
have
a
secret
message
for
you,
King
Eglon."
The
king
said,
"Be
quiet!"
Then
he
sent
all
of
his
servants
out
of
the
room.
20
Ehud
went
to
King
Eglon,
as
he
was
sitting
alone
in
the
room
above
his
summer
palace.
Ehud
said,
"I
have
a
message
from
God
for
you."
As
the
king
stood
up
from
his
chair,
21
Ehud
reached
with
his
left
hand
and
took
out
the
sword
that
was
tied
to
his
right
hip.
Then
he
stabbed
the
sword
deep
into
the
king's
belly!
22
Even
the
handle
sank
in,
and
the
blade
came
out
his
back.
The
king's
fat
covered
the
whole
sword,
so
Ehud
left
the
sword
in
Eglon.
23
Then
he
went
out
of
the
room
and
closed
and
locked
the
doors
behind
him.
24
When
the
servants
returned
just
after
Ehud
left,
they
found
the
doors
to
the
room
locked.
So
they
thought
the
king
was
relieving
himself.
25
They
waited
for
a
long
time.
Finally
they
became
worried
because
he
still
had
not
opened
the
doors.
So
they
got
the
key
and
unlocked
them
and
saw
their
king
lying
dead
on
the
floor!
26
While
the
servants
were
waiting,
Ehud
had
escaped.
He
passed
by
the
statues
and
went
to
Seirah.
27
When
he
reached
the
mountains
of
Ephraim
he
blew
the
trumpet.
The
people
of
Israel
heard
it
and
went
down
from
the
hills
with
Ehud
leading
them.
28
He
said
to
them,
"Follow
me!
The
Lord
has
helped
you
to
defeat
your
enemies,
the
Moabites."
So
Israel
followed
Ehud
and
captured
the
crossings
of
the
Jordan
River.
They
did
not
allow
the
Moabites
to
cross
the
Jordan
River.
29
Israel
killed
about
ten
thousand
strong
and
able
men
from
Moab;
not
one
escaped.
30
So
that
day
Moab
was
forced
to
be
under
the
rule
of
Israel,
and
there
was
peace
in
the
land
for
eighty
years.

And
Ehud

And
he
was

was
his.
And
Ehud
said,
I
have

And
he
rose
out

21
And
Ehud
put
out

took

22
And
the

and
the

closed
on
the

for
he
did
not

out

And
it
came
out
behind.
23
Then
Ehud
went
out
to
the
porch,
and
shut
the
doors
of
the
roof
room
on
him,
and
locked
them.
24
And
when
he
had
gone
out,
his
servants
came.
And
they
looked,
and,
behold,
the
doors
of
the
roof
room
were
locked.
And
they
said,
Surely
he
is
covering
his
feet
in
the
cool
roof
room.
25
And
they
waited
until
they
were
ashamed.
And,
behold!
He
did
not
open
the
doors
of
the
room.
So
they
took
the
key
and
opened
them.
And,
behold,
their
master
had
fallen
down
to
the
earth
dead.
26
And
Ehud
escaped
while
they
waited.
And
he
had
passed
by
the
images,
and
had
slipped
away
to
Seirath.
27
And
it
happened,
when
he
had
come,
he
blew
a

in
the
hills
of
Ephraim.
And
the
sons
of
Israel
came
down
with
him
from
the
hills,
and
he
before
them.
28
And
he
said
to
them,
Follow
me,
for
Jehovah
has
delivered
your
enemies
the
Moabites
into
your
hand.
And
they
went
down
after
him
and
took
the
fords
of
the
Jordan
against
the
Moabites.
And
they
did
not
allow
a
man

29

they
struck

men

at
that
time,

lusty

the
LORD
their
God
and
worshiped
the
Baals
and
the
Asherahs.
8
The
LORD's
anger
burned
against
Israel,
and
He
sold
them
to
Cushan-rishathaim
king
of
Aram
of
the
Two
Rivers,and
the
Israelites
served
him
eight
years.
9
The
Israelites
cried
out
to
the
LORD.
So
the
LORD
raised
up
Othniel
son
of
Kenaz,
Caleb's
youngest
brother
as
a
deliverer
to
save
the
Israelites.
10
The
Spirit
of
the
LORD
was
on
him,
and
he
judged
Israel.
Othniel
went
out
to
battle,
and
the
LORD
handed
over
Cushan-rishathaim
king
of
Aram
to
him,
so
that
Othniel
overpowered
him.
11
Then
the
land
was
peaceful
40
years,
and
Othniel
son
of
Kenaz
died.
12
The
Israelites
again
did
what
was
evil
in
the
LORD's
sight.
He
gave
Eglon
king
of
Moab
power
over
Israel,
because
they
had
done
what
was
evil
in
the
LORD's
sight.
13
After
Eglon
convinced
the
Ammonites
and
the
Amalekites
to
join
forces
with
him,
he
attacked
and
defeated
Israel
and
took
possession
of
the
City
of
Palms.
14
The
Israelites
served
Eglon
king
of
Moab
18
years.
15
Then
the
Israelites
cried
out
to
the
LORD,
and
He
raised
up
Ehud
son
of
Gera,
a
left-handed
Benjaminite,
as
a
deliverer
for
them.
The
Israelites
sent
him
to
Eglon
king
of
Moab
with
tribute
money
.
16
Ehud
made
himself
a
double-edged
sword
18
inches
long.
He
strapped
it
to
his
right
thigh
under
his
clothes
17
and
brought
the
tribute
to
Eglon
king
of
Moab,
who
was
an
extremely
fat
man.
18
When
Ehud
had
finished
presenting
the
tribute,
he
dismissed
the
people
who
had
carried
it.
19
At
the
carved
images
near
Gilgal
he
returned
and
said,
"King
Eglon
,
I
have
a
secret
message
for
you."
The
king
called
for
silence,
and
all
his
attendants
left
him.
20
Then
Ehud
approached
him
while
he
was
sitting
alone
in
his
room
upstairs
where
it
was
cool.
Ehud
said,
"I
have
a
word
from
God
for
you,"
and
the
king
stood
up
from
his
throne.
21
Ehud
reached
with
his
left
hand,
took
the
sword
from
his
right
thigh,
and
plunged
it
into
Eglon's
belly.
22
Even
the
handle
went
in
after
the
blade,
and
Eglon's
fat
closed
in
over
it,
so
that
Ehud
did
not
withdraw
the
sword
from
his
belly.
And
Eglon's
insides
came
out.
23
Ehud
escaped
by
way
of
the
porch,
closing
and
locking
the
doors
of
the
upstairs
room
behind
him.
24
Ehud
was
gone
when
Eglon's
servants
came
in.
They
looked
and
found
the
doors
of
the
upstairs
room
locked
and
thought
he
was
relieving
himself
in
the
cool
room.
25
The
servants
waited
until
they
became
worried
and
saw
that
he
had
still
not
opened
the
doors
of
the
upstairs
room.
So
they
took
the
key
and
opened
the
doors--
and
there
was
their
lord
lying
dead
on
the
floor!
26
Ehud
escaped
while
the
servants
waited.
He
crossed
over
the
Jordan
near
the
carved
images
and
reached
Seirah.
27
After
he
arrived,
he
sounded
the
ram's
horn
throughout
the
hill
country
of
Ephraim.
The
Israelites
came
down
with
him
from
the
hill
country,
and
he
became
their
leader.
28
He
told
them,
"Follow
me,
because
the
LORD
has
handed
over
your
enemies,
the
Moabites,
to
you."
So
they
followed
him,
captured
the
fords
of
the
Jordan
leading
to
Moab,
and
did
not
allow
anyone
to
cross
over.
29
At
that
time
they
struck
down
about
10,000
Moabites,
all
strong
and
able-bodied
men.
Not
one
of
them
escaped.
30
Moab
became
subject
to
Israel
that
day,
and
the
land
was
peaceful
80
years.
31
After
Ehud,
Shamgar
son
of
Anath
became
judge.
He
delivered
Israel
by
striking
down
600
Philistines
with
an
oxgoad.
1 Kings 8:2
2
So
all
the
men
of
Israel
were
assembled
in
the
presence
of
King
Solomon
in
the
seventh
month,
the
month
of
Ethanim
at
the
festival.
2 Kings 14:25
25
It
was
he
who
restored
Israel's
border
from
Lebo-hamath
as
far
as
the
Sea
of
the
Arabah,
according
to
the
word
the
LORD,
the
God
of
Israel,
had
spoken
through
His
servant,
the
prophet
Jonah
son
of
Amittai
from
Gath-hepher.
2 Chronicles 7:8
8
So
Solomon
and
all
Israel
with
him--
a
very
great
assembly,
from
the
entrance
to
Hamath
to
the
Brook
of
Egypt--
observed
the
festival
at
that
time
for
seven
days.
Acts 7:47
47
But
it
was
Solomon
who
built
Him
a
house.
