Genesis 4 (AKJV) American King James Version

1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect to Abel and to his offering:
5 But to Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said to Cain, Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen?
7 If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And to you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 And the LORD said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
10 And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground.
11 And now are you cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand;
12 When you till the ground, it shall not from now on yield to you her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall you be in the earth.
13 And Cain said to the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, you have driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from your face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that finds me shall slay me.
15 And the LORD said to him, Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelled in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18 And to Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
19 And Lamech took to him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 And Adah bore Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22 And Zillah, she also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
23 And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; you wives of Lamech, listen to my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call on the name of the LORD.

3 And in process H7093 M-CMS of time H3117 NMP it came to pass H1961 W-VPY3MS , that Cain H7014 NAME-3MS brought H935 W-VHY3MS of the fruit H6529 M-CMS of the ground H127 D-NFS an offering H4503 NFS unto the LORD H3068 L-NAME-4MS .
4 And Abel H1893 W-NAME-3MS , he H1931 PPRO-3MS also H1571 CONJ brought H935 VHQ3MS of the firstlings H1062 M-CFP of his flock H6629 GFS-3MS and of the fat H2459 WM-NMS-3FP thereof . And the LORD H3068 EDS had respect H8159 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Abel H1893 NAME-3MS and to H413 PREP his offering H4503 CFS-3MS :
5 But unto H413 W-PREP Cain H7014 NAME-3MS and to H413 W-PREP his offering H4503 CFS-3MS he had not respect H8159 VQQ3MS . And Cain H7014 L-NAME-3MS was very H3966 ADV wroth H2734 W-VQY3MS , and his countenance H6440 CMS-3MS fell H5307 W-VQY3MP .
6 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Cain H7014 NAME-3MS , Why H4100 L-IPRO art thou wroth H2734 VQQ3MS ? and why H4100 L-IPRO is thy countenance H6440 CMP-2MS fallen H5307 VQQ3MP ?
7 If H518 PART thou doest well H3190 VHY2MS , shalt thou not H3808 ADV be accepted H7613 VQFC ? and if H518 PART thou doest not H3808 NADV well H3190 VHY2MS , sin H2403 CFS lieth H7257 VQPMS at the door H6607 L-NMS . And unto H413 W-PREP-2MS thee shall be his desire H8669 CFS-3MS , and thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt rule H4910 VQY2MS over him .
8 And Cain H7014 NAME-3MS talked H559 W-VQY3MS with H413 PREP Abel H1893 NAME-3MS his brother H251 CMS-3MS : and it came to pass H1961 W-VPY3MS , when they were H1961 W-VPY3MS in the field H7704 B-NMS , that Cain H7014 NAME-3MS rose up H6965 W-VQY3MS against H413 PREP Abel H1893 NAME-3MS his brother H251 CMS-3MS , and slew H2026 W-VQY3MS-3MS him .
9 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Cain H7014 NAME-3MS , Where H335 IPRO is Abel H1893 NAME-3MS thy brother H251 CMS-2MS ? And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , I know H3045 VQY1MS not H3808 NADV : Am I H595 PPRO-1MS my brother H251 CMS-2MS \'s keeper H8104 I-VQPMS ?
10 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , What H4100 IPRO hast thou done H6213 VQQ2MS ? the voice H6963 CMS of thy brother H251 CMS-2MS \'s blood H1818 CMP crieth H6817 VQPMP unto H413 PREP-1MS me from H4480 PREP the ground H127 D-NFS .
11 And now H6258 W-ADV art thou H859 PPRO-2MS cursed H779 VWQ3MS from H4480 PREP the earth H127 D-NFS , which H834 RPRO hath opened H6475 VQQ3FS her mouth H6310 CMS-3FS to receive H3947 L-VQFC thy brother H251 CMS-2MS \'s blood H1818 CMP from thy hand H3027 GFS-2MS ;
12 When H3588 CONJ thou tillest H5647 VQY2MS the ground H127 D-NFS , it shall not H3808 ADV henceforth H3254 VHI3FS yield H5414 VQFC unto thee her strength H3581 CMS-3FS ; a fugitive H5128 VQPMS and a vagabond H5110 W-VQPMS shalt thou be H1961 VQY2MS in the earth H776 B-GFS .
13 And Cain H7014 NAME-3MS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , My punishment H5771 CMS-1MS is greater H1419 AMS than I can bear H5375 M-VQFC .
14 Behold H2005 IJEC , thou hast driven me out H1644 VPQ2MS this day H3117 D-AMS from M-PREP the face H6440 CMP of the earth H127 D-NFS ; and from thy face H6440 CMP shall I be hid H5641 VNY1MS ; and I shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS a fugitive H5128 VQPMS and a vagabond H5110 VQPMS in the earth H776 B-NFS ; and it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , that every one H3605 CMS that findeth H4672 VQPMS-1MS me shall slay H2026 VQY3MS-1MS me .
15 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , Therefore H3651 L-ADV whosoever H3605 NMS slayeth H2026 VQPMS Cain H7014 NAME-3MS , vengeance shall be taken H5358 VUY3MS on him sevenfold H7659 ONUM . And the LORD H3068 EDS set H7760 W-VQY3MS a mark H226 NMS upon Cain H7014 L-NAME-3MS , lest H1115 L-NPAR any H3605 NMS finding H4672 VQPMS-3MS him should kill H5221 VHFC him .
16 And Cain H7014 NAME-3MS went out H3318 W-VQY3MS from the presence H6440 ML-CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS , and dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MS in the land H776 B-GFS of Nod H5113 PLAC , on the east H6926 CFS of Eden H5731 PLAC .
17 And Cain H7014 NAME-3MS knew H3045 W-VQY3MS his wife H802 CFS-3MS ; and she conceived H2029 W-VQY3FS , and bore H3205 W-VQY3FS Enoch H2585 NAME-3MS : and he built H1961 W-VPY3MS a city H5892 GFS , and called H7121 W-VQY3MS the name H8034 CMS of the city H5892 D-GFS , after the name H8034 K-CMS of his son H1121 CMS-3MS , Enoch H2585 NAME-3MS .
18 And unto Enoch H2585 L-NAME-3MS was born H3205 W-VNY3MS Irad H5897 NAME-3MS : and Irad H5897 W-NAME-3MS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Mehujael H4232 NAME-3MS : and Mehujael H4232 W-NAME-3MS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Methusael H4967 NAME-3MS : and Methusael H4967 W-NAME-3MS begot H3205 VQQ3MS Lamech H3929 NAME-3MS .
19 And Lamech H3929 NAME-3MS took H3947 W-VQY3MS unto him two H8147 ONUM wives H802 GFP : the name H8034 CMS of the one H259 D-ONUM was Adah H5711 NAME-3FS , and the name H8034 W-CMS of the other H8145 D-ONUM Zillah H6741 NAME-3FS .
20 And Adah H5711 NAME-3FS bore H3205 W-VQY3FS Jabal H2989 NAME-3MS : he H1931 PPRO-3MS was H1961 VQQ3MS the father H1 CMS-1MS of such as dwell H3427 VQPMS in tents H168 NMS , and of such as have cattle H4735 W-NMS .
21 And his brother H251 CMS-3MS \'s name H8034 W-CMS was Jubal H3106 NAME-3MS : he H1931 PPRO-3MS was H1961 VQQ3MS the father H1 CMS-1MS of all H3605 NMS such as handle H8610 VQPMS the harp H3658 NMS and organ H5748 W-NMS .
22 And Zillah H6741 NAME-3FS , she H1931 PPRO-3FS also H1571 CONJ bore H3205 VQQ3FS Tubal H8423 NAME-3MS - cain , an instructor H3913 VQPMS of every H3605 NMS artificer H2794 VQPMS in brass H5178 CFS and iron H1270 W-NMS : and the sister H269 W-CFS of Tubal H8423 NAME-3MS - cain was Naamah H5279 NAME-3FS .
23 And Lamech H3929 NAME-3MS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto his wives H802 L-GFS-3MS , Adah H5711 NAME-3FS and Zillah H6741 NAME-3FS , Hear H8085 VQFA-2FP my voice H6963 NMS-1MS ; ye wives H802 GFP of Lamech H3929 NAME-3MS , hearken H238 VHI2FP unto my speech H565 CFS-1MS : for H3588 CONJ I have slain H2026 VQQ1MS a man H376 to my wounding H6482 L-NMS-1MS , and a young man H3206 W-NMS to my hurt H2250 L-CFS-1MS .
24 If H3588 CONJ Cain H7014 NAME-3MS shall be avenged H5358 VOY3MS sevenfold H7659 ONUM , truly Lamech H3929 W-NAME-3MS seventy H7657 ONUM and sevenfold H7651 W-ONUM .
25 And Adam H121 NMS knew H3045 W-VQY3MS his wife H802 CFS-3MS again H5750 ADV ; and she bore H3205 W-VQY3FS a son H1121 NMS , and called H7121 W-VQY3FS his name H8034 CMS-3MS Seth H8352 NAME-3MS : For H3588 CONJ God H430 EDP , said she , hath appointed H7896 VQQ3MS me another H312 AMS seed H2233 NMS instead of H8478 NMS Abel H1893 NAME-3MS , whom Cain H7014 NAME-3MS slew H2026 VQQ3MS-3MS .
26 And to Seth H8352 WL-NAME-3MS , to him H1931 PPRO-3MS also H1571 CONJ there was born H3205 VWQ3MS a son H1121 NMS ; and he called H7121 W-VQY3MS his name H8034 CMS-3MS Enos H583 NAME-3MS : then H227 ADV began H2490 VHQ3MS men to call H7121 W-VQY3MS upon the name H8034 B-CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
