Esther 8 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther everything that belonged to Haman, the enemy of the Jews. Esther told the king that Mordecai was her cousin. Then Mordecai came to see the king.
2 The king had gotten his ring back from Haman. The king took the ring off his finger and gave it to Mordecai. Then Esther put Mordecai in charge of everything that belonged to Haman.
3 Then Esther spoke to the king again. She fell at the king's feet and began crying. She begged the king to cancel the evil plan of Haman the Agagite. Haman had thought up the plan to hurt the Jews.
4 Then the king held out the gold scepter to Esther. Esther got up and stood in front of the king.
5 Then she said, "King, if you like me and if it pleases you, please do this for me. Please do this if you think it is a good idea. If the king is happy with me, please write a command that would stop the command Haman sent out. Haman the Agagite thought of a plan to destroy the Jews in all the king's provinces, and he sent out commands for this to happen.
6 I am begging the king because I could not bear to see these terrible things happen to my people. I could not bear to see my family killed."
7 King Xerxes answered Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew. This is what the king said: "Because Haman was against the Jews, I have given his property to Esther. And my soldiers have hanged him on the hanging post.
8 Now write another command by the authority of the king. Write it to help the Jews in a way that seems best to you. Then seal the order with the king's special ring. No official letter written by the authority of the king and sealed with the king's ring can be canceled."
9 Very quickly the king's secretaries were called. This was done on the 23 day of the third month, the month of Sivan. They wrote out all of Mordecai's commands to the Jews, and to the satraps, the governors, and officials of the 127 provinces. These provinces reached from India to Ethiopia. The commands were written in the language of each province and translated into the language of each group of people. The commands were written to the Jews in their own language and alphabet.
10 Mordecai wrote commands by the authority of King Xerxes. Then he sealed the letters with the king's ring and sent them by messengers on horses. The messengers rode fast horses, which were raised especially for the king.
11 The king's commands in the letters said this: The Jews in every city have the right to gather together to protect themselves. They have the right to ruin, kill, and completely destroy any army from any group who might attack them and their women and children. And the Jews have the right to take and destroy the property of their enemies.
12 The day set for the Jews to do this was the 13 day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar. They were permitted to do this in all King Xerxes' provinces.
13 A copy of the letter with the king's command was to be sent out. It became a law in every province. They announced it to all the people of every nation living in the kingdom. They did this so that the Jews would be ready for that special day. They would be allowed to pay their enemies back.
14 The messengers hurried out, riding on the king's horses. The king commanded them to hurry. And the command was also put in the capital city of Susa.
15 Mordecai left the king. He was wearing special clothes from the king. His clothes were blue and white, and he had on a large gold crown. He also had a purple robe made of the best linen. There was a special celebration in Susa. The people were very happy.
16 It was an especially happy day for the Jews, a day of great joy and happiness.
17 Wherever the king's command went in every province and every city, there was joy and gladness among the Jews. They were having parties and celebrating. Many of the common people from other groups became Jews. They did this because they were very afraid of the Jews.

3 And Esther H635 spoke H1696 yet again H3254 before H6440 L-CMP the king H4428 D-NMS , and fell down H5307 W-VQY3FS at H6440 L-CMP his feet H7272 , and besought H2603 him with tears H1058 to put away H5674 the mischief H7451 CFS of Haman H2001 the Agagite H91 , and his device H4284 that H834 RPRO he had devised H2803 against H5921 PREP the Jews H3064 .
4 Then the king H4428 D-NMS held out H3447 the golden H2091 scepter H8275 toward Esther H635 . So Esther H635 arose H6965 , and stood H5975 before H6440 L-CMP the king H4428 ,
5 And said H559 W-VQY3FS , If H518 PART it please H2895 the king H4428 D-NMS , and if H518 PART I have found H4672 VQQ1MS favor H2580 NMS in his sight H6440 L-CMP , and the thing H1697 D-NMS seem right H3787 before H6440 L-CMP the king H4428 D-NMS , and I H589 PPRO-1MS be pleasing H2895 in his eyes H5869 B-CMD-3MS , let it be written H3789 to reverse H7725 L-VHFC the letters H5612 devised H4284 by Haman H2001 the son H1121 of Hammedatha H4099 the Agagite H91 , which H834 RPRO he wrote H3789 CMS to destroy H6 the Jews H3064 which H834 RPRO are in all H3605 B-CMS the king H4428 \'s provinces H4082 :
6 For H3588 CONJ how H349 can I endure H3201 to see H7200 the evil H7451 that H834 RPRO shall come unto H4672 VQY3MS my people H5971 ? or how H349 can I endure H3201 to see H7200 the destruction H13 of my kindred H4138 ?
7 Then the king H4428 D-NMS Ahasuerus H325 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto Esther H635 the queen H4436 and to Mordecai H4782 the Jew H3064 , Behold H2009 IJEC , I have given H5414 VQQ1MS Esther H635 the house H1004 CMS of Haman H2001 , and him they have hanged H8518 upon H5921 PREP the gallows H6086 AMS , because H5921 PREP he laid H7971 VQQ3MS his hand H3027 CFS-3MS upon the Jews H3064 .
8 Write H3789 ye H859 W-PPRO-2MP also for H5921 PREP the Jews H3064 , as it liketh H2896 you , in the king H4428 D-NMS \'s name H8034 B-CMS , and seal H2856 it with the king H4428 D-NMS \'s ring H2885 : for H3588 CONJ the writing H3791 which H834 RPRO is written H3789 in the king H4428 D-NMS \'s name H8034 B-CMS , and sealed H2856 with the king H4428 D-NMS \'s ring H2885 , may no H369 NPAR man reverse H7725 .

10 And he wrote H3789 in the king H4428 D-NMS Ahasuerus H325 \' name H8034 B-CMS , and sealed H2856 it with the king H4428 D-NMS \'s ring H2885 , and sent H7971 W-VQY3MS letters H5612 by H3027 B-CFS posts H7323 on horseback H5483 , and riders H7392 on mules H7409 , camels H327 , and young H1121 dromedaries H7424 :
11 Wherein H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS granted H5414 VQQ3MS the Jews H3064 which H834 RPRO were in every H3605 NMS city H5892 GFS to gather themselves together H6950 , and to stand H5975 for H5921 PREP their life H5315 CFS-3MP , to destroy H8045 , to slay H2026 , and to cause to perish H6 , all H3605 NMS the power H2428 of the people H5971 NMS and province H4082 that would assault H6696 them , both little ones H2945 and women H802 , and to take the spoil H7998 of them for a prey H962 ,
12 Upon one H259 MMS day H3117 B-NMS in all H3605 B-CMS the provinces H4082 of king H4428 D-NMS Ahasuerus H325 , namely , upon the thirteenth H7969 day of the twelfth H8147 month H2320 , which H1931 PPRO-3MS is the month H2320 Adar H143 .
13 The copy H6572 of the writing H3791 for a commandment H1881 to be given H5414 in every H3605 B-CMS province H4082 was published H1540 unto all H3605 L-CMS people H5971 , and that the Jews H3064 should be H1961 ready H6264 against that H2088 D-PMS day H3117 to avenge themselves H5358 on their enemies H341 .
14 So the posts H7323 that rode upon H7392 mules H7409 and camels H327 went out H3318 , being hastened H926 and pressed on H1765 by the king H4428 D-NMS \'s commandment H1697 . And the decree H1881 was given H5414 VNQ3FS at Shushan H7800 the palace H1002 .
15 And Mordecai H4782 went out H3318 VQQ3MS from the presence H6440 ML-CMP of the king H4428 D-NMS in royal H4438 CFP apparel H3830 of blue H8504 and white H2353 , and with a great H1419 AMS-3FS crown H5850 of gold H2091 NMS , and with a garment H8509 of fine linen H948 and purple H713 : and the city H5892 of Shushan H7800 rejoiced H6670 and was glad H8055 .
16 The Jews H3064 had H1961 VQP3FS light H219 , and gladness H8057 , and joy H8342 , and honor H3366 .
17 And in every H3605 WB-CMS province H4082 , and in every H3605 WB-CMS city H5892 GFS , whithersoever H834 RPRO the king H4428 D-NMS \'s commandment H1697 CMS and his decree H1881 came H5060 , the Jews H3064 had joy H8057 and gladness H8342 , a feast H4960 NMS and a good H2896 AMS day H3117 W-NMS . And many H7227 of the people H5971 of the land H776 D-GFS became Jews H3054 ; for H3588 CONJ the fear H6343 of the Jews H3064 fell H5307 upon H5921 PREP-3MP them .
