Exodus 4 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Then Moses said to God, "But the Israelites will not believe me when I tell them that you sent me. They will say, 'The Lord did not appear to you.'"
2 But God said to Moses, "What is that you have in your hand?" Moses answered, "It is my walking stick."
3 Then God said, "Throw your walking stick on the ground." So Moses threw his walking stick on the ground, and it became a snake. Moses ran from it,
4 but the Lord said to him, "Reach out and grab the snake by its tail." When Moses reached out and caught the snake's tail, the snake became a walking stick again.
5 Then God said, "Use your stick in this way, and the people will believe that you saw the Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob."
6 Then the Lord said to Moses, "I will give you another proof. Put your hand under your robe." So Moses opened his robe and put his hand inside. Then he brought his hand out of the robe and it was changed. His hand was covered with spots that were white like snow.
7 Then God said, "Now put your hand into your robe again." So Moses put his hand into his robe again. Then he brought his hand out, and his hand was changed. Now his hand was good again, as it was before.
8 Then God said, "If the people don't believe you when you use your walking stick, then they will believe you when you show them this sign.
9 If they still refuse to believe after you show them both of these signs, then take some water from the Nile River. Pour the water on the ground, and as soon as it touches the ground, it will become blood."
10 Then Moses said to the Lord, "But, Lord, I am telling you, I am not a good speaker. I have never been able to speak well. And that hasn't changed since you started talking to me. I am still not a good speaker. You know that I speak slowly and don't use the best words."
11 Then the Lord said to him, "Who made a person's mouth? And who can make someone deaf or not able to speak? Who can make a person blind? Who can make a person able to see? I am the one. I am Yahweh.
12 So go. I will be with you when you speak. I will give you the words to say."
13 But Moses said, "My Lord, I beg you to send someone else, not me."
14 Then the Lord became angry with Moses and said, "All right! I'll give you someone to help you. Aaron the Levite is your brother, isn't he? He is a good speaker. In fact, Aaron is already coming to meet you, and he will be happy to see you.
15 I will tell you what to say. Then you will tell Aaron, and I will help him say it well. I will tell both of you what to do.
16 So Aaron will speak to the people for you. You will be like a great king, and he will be your official speaker.
17 So go and carry your walking stick with you. Use it and the other miracles to show the people that I am with you."
18 Then Moses went back to Jethro, his father-in-law. Moses said to him, "Please let me go back to Egypt. I want to see if my people are still alive." Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."
19 Then, while Moses was still in Midian, God said to him, "It is safe for you to go back to Egypt now. The men who wanted to kill you are now dead."
20 So Moses put his wife and children on the donkey and returned to Egypt. He carried his walking stick with him—the walking stick with the power of God.
21 While Moses was traveling back to Egypt, the Lord spoke to him, "When you talk to Pharaoh remember to show him all the miracles that I have given you the power to do. But I will cause Pharaoh to be very stubborn. He will not let the people go.
22 Then you should say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the Lord says:
23 Israel is my firstborn son. And I am telling you to let my son go and worship me. If you refuse to let Israel go, then I will kill your firstborn son.'"
24 On the way to Egypt, Moses stopped at a place to spend the night. The Lord met Moses at that place and tried to kill him.
25 But Zipporah took a flint knife and circumcised her son. She took the skin and touched his feet. Then she said to Moses, "You are a bridegroom of blood to me."
26 Zipporah said this because she had to circumcise her son. So God let Moses live.
27 The Lord had spoken to Aaron and told him, "Go out into the desert and meet Moses." So Aaron went and met Moses at the Mountain of God. He saw Moses and kissed him.
28 Moses told Aaron why the Lord had sent him. And he told Aaron about all the miracles and things he must do to prove that God had sent him. Moses told him everything the Lord had said.
29 So Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the Israelites.
30 Then Aaron spoke to the people and told them everything the Lord had told Moses. Then Moses did the miracles for all the people to see.
31 The people believed that God had sent Moses. The Israelites knew that God had seen their troubles, and that he had come to help them. So they bowed down and worshiped God.

2 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , What is that in thine hand H3027 B-CFS-2MS ? And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , A rod H4294 .
3 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Cast H7993 it on the ground H776 NFS-3FS . And he cast H7993 it on the ground H776 NFS-3FS , and it became H1961 W-VQY3MS a serpent H5175 ; and Moses H4872 fled H5127 from before H6440 it .
4 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , Put forth H7971 thine hand H3027 CFS-2MS , and take H270 it by the tail H2180 . And he put forth H7971 W-VQY3MS his hand H3027 CFS-3MS , and caught H2388 it , and it became H1961 W-VQY3MS a rod H4294 in his hand H3709 :
5 That H4616 L-CONJ they may believe H539 VHY3MP that H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS God H430 CDP of their fathers H1 , the God H430 CDP of Abraham H85 , the God H430 CDP of Isaac H3327 , and the God H430 of Jacob H3290 , hath appeared H7200 unto H413 PREP-2MS thee .
6 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS furthermore H5750 ADV unto him , Put H935 now H4994 IJEC thine hand H3027 CFS-2MS into thy bosom H2436 . And he put H935 W-VHY3MS his hand H3027 CFS-3MS into his bosom H2436 : and when he took it out H3318 , behold H2009 IJEC , his hand H3027 CFS-3MS was leprous H6879 as snow H7950 .
7 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Put H7725 VHFA thine hand H3027 CFS-2MS into H413 PREP thy bosom H2436 again . And he put H7725 W-VHY3MS his hand H3027 CFS-3MS into H413 PREP his bosom H2436 again ; and plucked it out H3318 of his bosom H2436 , and , behold H2009 IJEC , it was turned again H7725 as his other flesh H1320 .
8 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , if H518 PART they will not H3808 NADV believe H539 VHY3MP thee , neither H3808 W-NADV hearken H8085 VQY3MP to the voice H6963 of the first H7223 sign H226 , that they will believe H539 the voice H6963 of the latter H314 sign H226 .
9 And it shall come to pass H1961 W-VQQ3MS , if H518 PART they will not H3808 NADV believe H539 VHY3MP also H1571 CONJ these H428 D-DPRO-3MP two H8147 signs H226 , neither H3808 W-NADV hearken H8085 unto thy voice H6963 , that thou shalt take H3947 of the water H4325 D-CMS of the river H2975 , and pour H8210 it upon the dry H3004 D-NFS land : and the water H4325 D-CMS which H834 RPRO thou takest H3947 VQY2MS out of H4480 PREP the river H2975 shall become H1961 W-VQQ3MS blood H1818 L-NMS upon the dry H3006 land .
10 And Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , O H994 my Lord H136 EDS , I H595 PPRO-1MS am not H3808 NADV eloquent H1697 NMP , neither H1571 CONJ heretofore H8543 , nor H1571 CONJ since H227 thou hast spoken H1696 unto H413 PREP thy servant H5650 : but H3588 CONJ I H595 PPRO-1MS am slow H3515 of speech H6310 , and of a slow H3515 tongue H3956 NMS .
11 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , Who H4310 IPRO hath made H7760 VQQ3MS man H120 LD-NMS \'s mouth H6310 ? or H176 CONJ who H4310 IPRO maketh H7760 the dumb H483 , or H176 CONJ deaf H2795 , or H176 CONJ the seeing H6493 , or H176 CONJ the blind H5787 ? have not H3808 I-NADV I H595 PPRO-1MS the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS ?
12 Now H6258 W-ADV therefore go H1980 VQI2MS , and I H595 W-PPRO-1MS will be H1961 VQY1MS with H5973 PREP thy mouth H6310 CMS-2MS , and teach H3384 thee what H834 RPRO thou shalt say H1696 .
13 And he said H559 W-VQY3MS , O H994 my Lord H136 EDS , send H7971 VQI2MS , I pray thee H4994 IJEC , by the hand H3027 B-CFS of him whom thou wilt send H7971 .
14 And the anger H639 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS was kindled H2734 against Moses H4872 , and he said H559 W-VQY3MS , Is not H3808 I-NADV Aaron H175 the Levite H3881 thy brother H251 CMS-2MS ? I know H3045 VQY1MS that H3588 CONJ he H1931 PPRO-3MS can speak well H1696 . And also H1571 W-CONJ , behold H2009 IJEC , he H1931 PPRO-3MS cometh forth H3318 VQPMS to meet H7125 thee : and when he seeth H7200 thee , he will be glad H8055 in his heart H3820 .
15 And thou shalt speak H1696 unto H413 PREP-3MS him , and put H7760 words H1697 AMP in his mouth H6310 B-CMS-3MS : and I H595 W-PPRO-1MS will be H1961 VQY1MS with H5973 PREP thy mouth H6310 CMS-2MS , and with H5973 his mouth H6310 CMS-3MS , and will teach H3384 you what H834 RPRO ye shall do H6213 .
16 And he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall be thy spokesman H1696 unto H413 PREP the people H5971 : and he shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS , even he H1931 PPRO-3MS shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS to thee instead of a mouth H6310 , and thou H859 W-PPRO-2MS shalt be H1961 W-VQQ3MS to him instead of God H430 .
17 And thou shalt take H3947 VQY2MS this H2088 D-PMS rod H4294 in thine hand H3027 B-CFS-2MS , wherewith H834 RPRO thou shalt do H6213 VQY2MS signs H226 .
18 And Moses H4872 went H1980 W-VQY3MS and returned H7725 to H413 PREP Jethro H3503 his father H2859 - in - law , and said H559 W-VQY3MS unto him , Let me go H1980 , I pray thee H4994 IJEC , and return H7725 unto H413 PREP my brethren H251 NMP-1MS which H834 RPRO are in Egypt H4714 , and see H7200 whether they be yet H5750 alive H2416 NMP . And Jethro H3503 said H559 W-VQY3MS to Moses H4872 , Go H1980 VQI2MS in peace H7965 .
19 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 in Midian H4080 , Go H1980 VQI2MS , return H7725 into Egypt H4714 : for H3588 CONJ all H3605 NMS the men H376 are dead H4191 which sought H1245 thy life H5315 .
20 And Moses H4872 took H3947 W-VQY3MS his wife H802 CFS-3MS and his sons H1121 CMP-3MS , and set H7392 them upon H5921 PREP an ass H2543 , and he returned H7725 to the land H776 NFS-3FS of Egypt H4714 : and Moses H4872 took H3947 W-VQY3MS the rod H4294 of God H430 D-EDP in his hand H3027 B-CFS-3MS .
21 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , When thou goest H1980 to return H7725 into Egypt H4714 TFS-3FS , see H7200 VQI2MS that thou do H6213 all H3605 NMS those wonders H4159 before H6440 L-CMP Pharaoh H6547 EMS , which H834 RPRO I have put H7760 VQQ1MS in thine hand H3027 B-CFS-2MS : but I H589 W-PPRO-1MS will harden H2388 his heart H3820 CMS-3MS , that he shall not H3808 W-NPAR let the people H5971 D-NMS go H7971 .
22 And thou shalt say H559 unto H413 PREP Pharaoh H6547 EMS , Thus H3541 saith H559 VQQ3MS the LORD H3068 EDS , Israel H3478 LMS is my son H1121 NMS-1MS , even my firstborn H1060 :
23 And I say H559 W-VQY1MS unto H413 PREP-2MS thee , Let my son H1121 NMS-1MS go H7971 VPFC , that he may serve H5647 me : and if thou refuse H3985 to let him go H7971 , behold H2009 IJEC , I H595 PPRO-1MS will slay H2026 VQPMS thy son H1121 NMS-1MS , even thy firstborn H1060 .
24 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS by the way H1870 in the inn H4411 , that the LORD H3068 EDS met H6298 him , and sought H1245 to kill H4191 him .
25 Then Zipporah H6855 took H3947 W-VQY3FS a sharp stone H6864 , and cut off H3772 the foreskin H6190 of her son H1121 , and cast H5060 it at his feet H7272 , and said H559 W-VQY3FS , Surely H3588 CONJ a bloody H1818 husband H2860 art thou H859 PPRO-2MS to me .
26 So he let him go H7503 : then H227 ADV she said H559 , A bloody H1818 husband H2860 thou art , because of the circumcision H4139 .
27 And the LORD H3068 EDS said H559 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Aaron H175 , Go H1980 VQI2MS into the wilderness H4057 to meet H7125 L-VQFC Moses H4872 . And he went H1980 W-VQY3MS , and met H6298 him in the mount H2022 of God H430 D-EDP , and kissed H5401 him .
28 And Moses H4872 told H5046 W-VHY3MS Aaron H175 all H3605 NMS the words H1697 CMP of the LORD H3068 EDS who H834 RPRO had sent H7971 him , and all H3605 NMS the signs H226 which H834 RPRO he had commanded H6680 him .
29 And Moses H4872 and Aaron H175 went H1980 W-VQY3MS and gathered together H622 all H3605 NMS the elders H2205 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS :
30 And Aaron H175 spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS all H3605 NMS the words H1697 AMP which H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS had spoken H1696 VPQ3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , and did H6213 W-VQY3MS the signs H226 in the sight H5869 of the people H5971 D-NMS .
31 And the people H5971 believed H539 : and when they heard H8085 W-VQY3MP that H3588 CONJ the LORD H3068 EDS had visited H6485 VQQ3MS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , and that H3588 CONJ he had looked upon H7200 VQQ3MS their affliction H6040 , then they bowed their heads H6915 and worshiped H7812 .
