1 John 3:5 (KJV) King James Version

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

2 Beloved G27 A-VPM , now G3568 ADV are G2070 V-PXI-1P we the sons G5043 N-NPN of God G2316 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ it doth not yet G3768 ADV appear G5319 V-API-3S what G5101 I-NSN we shall be G2071 V-FXI-1P : but G1161 CONJ we know G1492 V-RAI-1P that G3754 CONJ , when G1437 COND he shall appear G5319 V-APS-3S , we shall be G2071 V-FXI-1P like G3664 A-NPM him G846 P-DSM ; for G3754 CONJ we shall see G3700 V-FDI-1P him G846 P-ASM as G2531 ADV he is G2076 V-PXI-3S .
3 And G2532 CONJ every man G3956 A-NSM that hath G2192 V-PAP-NSM this G3588 T-ASF hope G1680 N-ASF in G1909 PREP him G846 P-DSM purifieth G48 V-PAI-3S himself G1438 F-3ASM , even as G2531 ADV he G1565 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S pure G53 A-NSM .
4 Whosoever G3588 T-NSM committeth G4160 V-PAP-NSM sin G266 N-ASF transgresseth also the law G4160 V-PAI-3S : for G3588 T-NSF sin G266 N-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-ASF transgression of the law G458 N-ASF .
5 And G2532 CONJ ye know G1492 V-RAI-2P that G3754 CONJ he G1565 D-NSM was manifested G5319 V-API-3S to G2443 CONJ take away G142 V-AAS-3S our G3588 T-APF sins G266 N-APF ; and G2532 CONJ in G1722 PREP him G846 P-DSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S no G3756 PRT-N sin G266 N-NSF .
6 Whosoever G3956 A-NSM abideth G3306 V-PAP-NSM in G1722 PREP him G846 P-DSM sinneth G264 V-PAI-3S not G3756 PRT-N : whosoever G3588 T-NSM sinneth G264 V-PAP-NSM hath not G3756 PRT-N seen G3708 V-RAI-3S him G846 P-ASM , neither G3761 ADV known G1097 V-RAI-3S him G846 P-ASM .
7 Little children G5040 N-VPN , let no man G3367 A-NSM deceive G4105 V-PAM-3S you G5209 P-2AP : he G3588 T-ASF that G3588 T-ASF doeth G4160 V-PAP-NSM righteousness G1343 N-ASF is G2076 V-PXI-3S righteous G1342 A-NSM , even as G2531 ADV he G1565 D-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S righteous G1342 A-NSM .
8 He G3588 T-ASF that G3588 T-ASF committeth G4160 V-PAP-NSM sin G266 N-ASF is G2076 V-PXI-3S of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM devil G1228 A-GSM ; for G3754 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM devil G1228 A-NSM sinneth G264 V-PAI-3S from G575 PREP the beginning G746 N-GSF . For G1519 PREP this purpose G5124 D-ASN the G3588 T-NSM Son G5207 N-NSM of God G2316 N-GSM was manifested G5319 V-API-3S , that G2443 CONJ he might destroy G3089 V-AAS-3S the G3588 T-APN works G2041 N-APN of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM devil G1228 A-GSM .
9 Whosoever G3588 T-NSM is born G1080 V-RPP-NSM of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM doth not G3756 PRT-N commit G4160 V-PAI-3S sin G266 N-ASF ; for G3754 CONJ his G848 seed G4690 N-NSN remaineth G3306 V-PAI-3S in G1722 PREP him G846 P-GSM : and G2532 CONJ he cannot G1410 V-PNI-3S sin G264 V-PAN , because G3754 CONJ he is born G1080 V-RPI-3S of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM .
10 In G1722 PREP this G5129 D-DSN the G3588 T-NPN children G5043 N-NPN of God G2316 N-GSM are G2076 V-PXI-3S manifest G5318 A-NPN , and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NPN children G5043 N-NPN of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM devil G1228 A-GSM : whosoever G3956 A-NSM doeth G4160 V-PAP-NSM not G3361 PRT-N righteousness G1343 N-ASF is G2076 V-PXI-3S not G3756 PRT-N of G3588 T-GSM God G2316 N-GSM , neither G2532 CONJ he G3588 T-NSM that G3588 T-NSM loveth G25 V-PAP-NSM not G3361 PRT-N his G3588 T-ASM brother G80 N-ASM .
11 For G3754 CONJ this G3778 D-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S the G3588 T-NSF message G31 N-NSF that G3739 R-ASF ye heard G191 V-AAI-2P from G575 PREP the beginning G746 N-GSF , that G2443 CONJ we should love G25 V-PAS-1P one another G240 C-APM .
12 Not G3756 PRT-N as G2531 ADV Cain G2535 N-PRI , who was G2258 V-IXI-3S of G3588 T-GSM that wicked one G4190 A-GSM , and G2532 CONJ slew G4969 V-AAI-3S his G3588 T-ASM brother G80 N-ASM . And G2532 CONJ wherefore G5484 ADV slew G4969 V-AAI-3S he him G846 P-GSM ? Because G3754 CONJ his G3588 T-NPN own G848 works G2041 N-NPN were G2258 V-IXI-3S evil G4190 A-NPN , and G1161 CONJ his G3588 T-GSM brother G80 N-GSM \'s righteous G1342 A-NPN .
13 Marvel G2296 V-PAM-2P not G3361 PRT-N , my G3450 P-1GS brethren G80 N-VPM , if G1487 COND the G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM hate G3404 V-PAI-3S you G5209 P-2AP .
14 We G2249 P-1NP know G1492 V-RAI-1P that G3754 CONJ we have passed G3327 V-RAI-1P from G1537 PREP death G2288 N-GSM unto G1519 PREP life G2222 N-ASF , because G3754 CONJ we love G25 V-PAI-1P the G3588 T-APM brethren G80 N-APM . He G3588 T-NSM that G3588 T-NSM loveth G25 V-PAP-NSM not G3361 PRT-N his brother G80 N-ASM abideth G3306 V-PAI-3S in G1722 PREP death G2288 N-DSM .
15 Whosoever G3588 T-NSM hateth G3404 V-PAP-NSM his G3588 T-ASM brother G80 N-ASM is G2076 V-PXI-3S a murderer G443 A-NSM : and G2532 CONJ ye know G1492 V-RAI-2P that G3754 CONJ no G3956 A-NSM murderer G443 A-NSM hath G2192 V-PAI-3S eternal G166 A-ASF life G2222 N-ASF abiding G3306 V-PAP-ASF in G1722 PREP him G846 P-GSM .
16 Hereby G1722 PREP perceive G1097 V-RAI-1P we G3588 T-ASF the G3588 T-ASF love G26 N-ASF of God G2316 , because G3754 CONJ he G1565 D-NSM laid down G5087 V-AAI-3S his G3588 T-ASF life G5590 N-ASF for G5228 PREP us G2257 P-1GP : and G2532 CONJ we G2249 P-1NP ought G3784 V-PAI-1P to lay down G5087 V-PAN our lives G5590 N-APF for G5228 PREP the G3588 T-GPM brethren G80 N-GPM .
17 But G1161 CONJ whoso G3739 R-NSM hath G2192 V-PAS-3S this G3588 T-ASM world G2889 N-GSM \'s good G979 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ seeth G2334 V-PAS-3S his G3588 T-ASM brother G80 N-ASM have G2192 V-PAP-ASM need G5532 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ shutteth up G2808 V-AAS-3S his G3588 T-APN bowels G4698 N-APN of compassion from G575 PREP him G846 P-GSM , how G4459 ADV-I dwelleth G3306 V-PAI-3S the G3588 T-NSF love G26 N-NSF of God G2316 N-GSM in G1722 PREP him G846 P-GSM ?
18 My G3450 P-1GS little children G5040 N-VPN , let us not G3361 PRT-N love G25 V-PAS-1P in word G3056 N-DSM , neither G3366 CONJ in tongue G1100 N-DSF ; but G235 CONJ in deed G2041 N-DSN and G2532 CONJ in truth G225 N-DSF .
19 And G2532 CONJ hereby G1722 PREP we know G1097 V-PAI-1P that G3754 CONJ we are G2070 V-PXI-1P of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSF truth G225 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ shall assure G3982 V-FAI-1P our G3588 T-APF hearts G2588 N-APF before G1715 PREP him G846 P-GSM .
20 For G3754 CONJ if G1437 COND our G3588 T-NSF heart G2588 N-NSF condemn G2607 V-PAS-3S us G3588 T-NSM , God G2316 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S greater G3187 A-NSM-C than our G3588 T-GSF heart G2588 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ knoweth G1097 V-PAI-3S all things G3956 A-APN .
21 Beloved G27 A-VPM , if G1437 COND our G3588 T-NSF heart G2588 N-NSF condemn G2607 V-PAS-3S us G2257 P-1GP not G3361 PRT-N , then have G2192 V-PAI-1P we confidence G3954 N-ASF toward G4314 PREP God G2316 N-ASM .
22 And G2532 CONJ whatsoever G3739 R-ASN we ask G154 V-PAS-1P , we receive G2983 V-PAI-1P of G3844 PREP him G846 P-GSM , because G3754 CONJ we keep G5083 V-PAI-1P his G3588 T-APF commandments G1785 N-APF , and G2532 CONJ do G4160 V-PAI-1P those things that are pleasing G701 A-APN in his sight G1799 ADV .
23 And G2532 CONJ this G3778 D-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S his G3588 T-NSF commandment G1785 N-NSF , That G2443 CONJ we should believe G4100 V-AAS-1P on the G3588 T-DSN name G3686 N-DSN of G3588 T-GSM his G3588 T-GSM Son G5207 N-GSM Jesus G2424 N-GSM Christ G5547 N-GSM , and G2532 CONJ love G25 V-PAS-1P one another G240 C-APM , as G2531 ADV he gave G1325 V-AAI-3S us G2254 commandment G1785 N-ASF .
24 And G2532 CONJ he that keepeth G5083 V-PAP-NSM his G3588 T-APF commandments G1785 N-APF dwelleth G3306 V-PAI-3S in G1722 PREP him G846 P-GSM , and G2532 CONJ he G846 P-DSM in G1722 PREP him G846 P-NSM . And G2532 CONJ hereby G1722 PREP we know G1097 V-PAI-1P that G3754 CONJ he abideth G3306 V-PAI-3S in G1722 PREP us G2254 P-1DP , by G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSN Spirit G4151 N-GSN which G3739 R-GSN he hath given G1325 V-AAI-3S us G2254 P-1DP .
