Matthew 12:11 (KJV) King James Version

1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
16 And charged them that they should not make him known:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

6 But G1161 CONJ I say G3004 V-PAI-1S unto you G5213 P-2DP , That G3754 CONJ in this place G5602 ADV is G2076 V-PXI-3S one greater G3187 than the G3588 T-GSN temple G2411 N-GSN .
7 But G1161 CONJ if G1487 COND ye had known G1097 V-LAI-2P what G5101 I-NSN this meaneth G2076 V-PXI-3S , I will G2309 V-PAI-1S have mercy G1656 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ not G3756 PRT-N sacrifice G2378 N-ASF , ye would not G3756 PRT-N have condemned G2613 V-AAI-2P the G3588 T-APM guiltless G338 A-APM .
8 For G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM Son G5207 N-NSM of man G444 N-GSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S Lord G2962 N-NSM even G2532 of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN sabbath day G4521 N-GSN .
9 And G2532 CONJ when he was departed G3327 V-2AAP-NSM thence G1564 ADV , he went G2064 V-2AAI-3S into G1519 PREP their G3588 T-ASF synagogue G4864 N-ASF :
10 And G2532 CONJ , behold G2400 V-2AAM-2S , there was G2258 V-IXI-3S a man G444 N-NSM which G3588 T-ASF had G2192 V-PAP-NSM his hand G5495 N-ASF withered G3584 N-ASF . And G2532 CONJ they asked G1905 V-AAI-3P him G846 P-ASM , saying G3004 V-PAP-NPM , Is it lawful G1832 V-PQI-3S to heal G2323 V-PAN on the G3588 T-DPN sabbath days G4521 N-DPN ? that G2443 CONJ they might accuse G2723 V-AAS-3P him G846 P-GSM .

13 Then G5119 ADV saith G3004 V-PAI-3S he G3588 T-DSM to the G3588 T-DSM man G444 N-DSM , Stretch forth G1614 V-AAM-2S thine G3588 T-ASF hand . And G5495 N-ASF he G2532 CONJ stretched it forth G1614 V-AAI-3S ; and G2532 CONJ it was restored G600 V-API-3S whole G5199 A-NSF , like as G5613 ADV the G3588 T-NSF other G243 A-NSF .
14 Then G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM Pharisees G5330 N-NPM went out G1831 V-2AAP-NPM , and held G2983 V-2AAI-3P a council G4824 N-ASN against G2596 PREP him G846 P-GSM , how G3704 ADV they might destroy G622 V-AAS-3P him G846 P-ASM .
15 But G1161 CONJ when Jesus G2424 N-NSM knew G1097 V-2AAP-NSM it , he withdrew G402 V-AAI-3S himself from thence G1564 ADV : and G2532 CONJ great G4183 A-NPM multitudes G3793 N-NPM followed G190 V-AAI-3P him G846 P-DSM , and G2532 CONJ he healed G2323 V-AAI-3S them G846 P-APM all G3956 A-APM ;

20 A bruised G4937 V-RPP-ASM reed G2563 N-ASM shall he not G3756 PRT-N break G2608 V-AAI-3S , and G2532 CONJ smoking G5188 V-PPP-ASN flax G3043 N-ASN shall he not G3756 PRT-N quench G4570 V-FAI-3S , till G2193 CONJ he G3588 T-ASF send forth G1544 V-2AAS-3S judgment G2920 N-ASF unto G1519 PREP victory G3534 N-ASN .
21 And G2532 CONJ in G1722 his G3588 T-DSN name G3686 N-DSN shall the Gentiles G1484 N-NPN trust G1679 V-FAI-3P .
22 Then G5119 ADV was brought G4374 V-API-3S unto him G846 P-DSM one possessed with a devil G1139 V-PNP-NSM , blind G5185 A-NSM , and G2532 CONJ dumb G2974 A-NSM : and G2532 CONJ he healed G2323 V-AAI-3S him G846 P-ASM , insomuch that G5620 CONJ the G3588 T-ASM blind G5185 A-ASM and G2532 CONJ dumb G2974 A-ASM both G2532 CONJ spake G2980 V-PAN and G2532 CONJ saw G191 .

24 But G1161 CONJ when the G3588 T-NPM Pharisees G5330 N-NPM heard G191 V-AAP-NPM it , they said G2036 V-2AAI-3P , This G3778 D-NSM fellow doth not G3756 PRT-N cast out G1544 V-PAI-3S devils G1140 N-APN , but G1508 by G1722 PREP Beelzebub G954 N-PRI the prince G758 N-DSM of G3588 T-GPN the G3588 T-GPN devils G1140 N-GPN .

27 And G2532 CONJ if G1487 COND I G1473 P-1NS by G1722 PREP Beelzebub G954 N-PRI cast out G1544 V-PAI-1S devils G1140 N-APN , by G1722 PREP whom G5101 I-DSM do your G3588 T-NPM children G5207 N-NPM cast them out G1544 V-PAI-3P ? therefore G1223 PREP they G846 P-NPM shall be G2071 V-FXI-3P your G5216 P-2GP judges G2923 N-NPM .
28 But G1161 CONJ if G1487 COND I G1473 P-1NS cast out G1544 V-PAI-1S devils G1140 N-APN by G1722 PREP the Spirit G4151 N-DSN of God G2316 N-GSM , then G686 PRT the G3588 T-NSF kingdom G932 N-NSF of God G2316 N-GSM is come G5348 V-AAI-3S unto G1909 PREP you G5209 P-2AP .
29 Or else G2228 PRT how G4459 ADV-I can G1410 V-PNI-3S one G5100 X-NSM enter G1525 V-2AAN into G1519 PREP a strong man G2478 A-GSM \'s house G3614 N-ASF , and G2532 CONJ spoil G1283 V-AAN his G3588 T-APN goods G4632 N-APN , except G3362 he first G4412 ADV bind G1210 V-AAS-3S the G3588 T-ASM strong man G2478 A-ASM and G2532 CONJ then G5119 ADV he will spoil G1283 V-FAI-3S his G3588 T-ASF house G3614 N-ASF .
30 He G3588 T-NSM that G3588 T-NSM is G5607 V-PXP-NSM not G3361 PRT-N with G3326 PREP me G1700 P-1GS is G2076 V-PXI-3S against G2596 PREP me G1700 P-1GS ; and G2532 CONJ he G3588 T-NSM that G3588 T-NSM gathereth G4863 V-PAP-NSM not G3361 PRT-N with G3326 PREP me G1700 P-1GS scattereth abroad G4650 V-PAI-3S .
31 Wherefore G1223 PREP I say G3004 V-PAI-1S unto you G5213 P-2DP , All manner G3956 A-NSF of sin G266 N-NSF and G2532 CONJ blasphemy G988 N-NSF shall be forgiven G863 V-FPI-3S unto men G444 N-DPM : but G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-DPM blasphemy G988 N-NSF against the G3588 T-GSN Holy Ghost G4151 N-GSN shall not G3756 PRT-N be forgiven G863 V-FPI-3S unto men G444 N-DPM .
32 And G2532 CONJ whosoever G3739 R-NSM speaketh G2036 a word G3056 N-ASM against G2596 PREP the G3588 T-GSM Son G5207 N-GSM of man G444 N-GSM , it shall be forgiven G863 V-FPI-3S him G846 P-DSM : but G1161 CONJ whosoever G3739 R-NSM speaketh G2036 against G2596 PREP the G3588 T-GSN Holy G40 A-GSN Ghost G4151 N-GSN , it shall not G3756 PRT-N be forgiven G863 V-FPI-3S him G846 P-DSM , neither G3777 CONJ in G1722 PREP this G5129 world G165 N-DSM , neither G3777 CONJ in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-GSN world to come G3195 V-PAP-DSM .
33 Either G2228 PRT make G4160 V-AAM-2P the G3588 T-ASN tree G1186 N-ASN good G2570 A-ASN , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-ASM fruit G2590 N-ASM good G2570 A-ASM ; or else G2228 PRT make G4160 V-AAM-2P the G3588 T-ASN tree G1186 N-ASN corrupt G4550 A-ASN , and G2532 CONJ his G3588 T-ASM fruit G2590 N-ASM corrupt G4550 A-ASM : for G1063 CONJ the G3588 T-NSN tree G1186 N-NSN is known G1097 V-PPI-3S by G1537 PREP his fruit G2590 N-GSM .
34 O generation G1081 N-VPN of vipers G2191 N-GPF , how G4459 ADV-I can G1410 V-PNI-2P ye , being G5607 V-PXP-NPM evil G4190 A-NPM , speak G2980 V-PAN good things G18 A-APN ? for G1063 CONJ out G1537 PREP of G3588 T-GSN the G3588 T-GSN abundance G4051 N-GSN of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF heart G2588 N-GSF the G3588 T-NSN mouth G4750 N-NSN speaketh G2980 V-PAI-3S .
35 A good G18 A-NSM man G444 N-NSM out G1537 PREP of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM good G18 A-GSM treasure G2344 N-GSM of the G3588 T-GSM heart G2588 bringeth forth G1544 V-PAI-3S good things G18 A-APN : and G2532 CONJ an evil G4190 A-NSM man G444 N-NSM out of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM evil G4190 A-GSM treasure G2344 N-GSM bringeth forth G1544 V-PAI-3S evil things G4190 A-APN .
36 But G1161 CONJ I say G3004 V-PAI-1S unto you G5213 P-2DP , That G3754 CONJ every G3956 A-NSN idle G692 A-NSN word G4487 N-NSN that G3588 T-NPM men G444 N-NPM shall speak G2980 V-AAS-3P , they shall give G591 V-FAI-3P account G3056 N-ASM thereof G4012 PREP in G1722 PREP the day G2250 N-DSF of judgment G2920 N-GSF .
37 For G1063 CONJ by G1537 PREP thy G3588 T-GPM words G3056 N-GPM thou shalt be justified G1344 V-FPI-2S , and G2532 CONJ by G1537 PREP thy G3588 T-GPM words G3056 N-GPM thou shalt be condemned G2613 V-FPI-2S .
38 Then G5119 ADV certain G5100 X-NPM of G3588 T-GPM the G3588 T-GPM scribes G1122 N-GPM and G2532 CONJ of the Pharisees G5330 N-GPM answered G611 V-ADI-3P , saying G3004 V-PAP-NPM , Master G1320 N-VSM , we would G2309 V-PAI-1P see G1492 V-2AAN a sign G4592 N-ASN from G575 PREP thee G4675 P-2GS .
39 But G1161 CONJ he G3588 T-NSM answered G611 V-AOP-NSM and said G2036 V-2AAI-3S unto them G846 P-DPM , An evil G4190 A-NSF and G2532 CONJ adulterous G3428 N-NSF generation G1074 N-NSF seeketh after G1934 V-PAI-3S a sign G4592 N-ASN ; and G2532 CONJ there shall no G3756 PRT-N sign G4592 N-NSN be given G1325 V-FPI-3S to it G846 P-DSF , but G1508 the G3588 T-ASN sign G4592 N-ASN of G3588 T-GSM the G3588 T-GSM prophet G4396 N-GSM Jonah G2495 N-GSM :
40 For G1063 CONJ as G5618 ADV Jonah G2495 N-NSM was G2258 V-IXI-3S three G5140 A-APF days G2250 N-APF and G2532 CONJ three G5140 A-APF nights G3571 N-APF in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-GSN whale G2785 N-GSN \'s belly G2836 N-DSF ; so G3779 ADV shall the G3588 T-NSM Son G5207 N-NSM of man G444 N-GSM be G2071 V-FXI-3S three G5140 A-APF days G2250 N-APF and G2532 CONJ three G5140 A-APF nights G3571 N-APF in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSF heart G2588 N-DSF of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF earth G1093 N-GSF .
41 The men G435 N-NPM of Nineveh G3536 N-NPM shall rise G450 V-FMI-3P in G1722 PREP judgment G2920 N-DSF with G3326 PREP this G3588 T-GSF generation G1074 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ shall condemn G2632 V-FAI-3P it G846 P-ASF : because G3754 CONJ they repented G3340 V-AAI-3P at G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASN preaching G2782 N-ASN of Jonah G2495 N-GSM ; and G2532 CONJ , behold G2400 V-2AAM-2S , a greater G4119 A-NSN-C than Jonah G2495 N-GSM is here G5602 ADV .
