1. And Saul was consenting to the doing away of him. And in that day a great persecution took place on the assembly which was in Jerusalem; and all were scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

2. And devout men together carried Stephen and made a great lamentation over him.

3. But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering house by house, dragging both men and women, he delivered them to prison.

4. Then, indeed, the ones who being scattered passed through, preaching the gospel, the Word.
|
4. Therefore G3767 G3303 they that were scattered abroad G1289 went every where G1330 preaching G2097 the G3588 word G3056 .

|
5. And going down to a city of Samaria, Philip proclaimed Christ to them.
|
5. Then G1161 Philip G5376 went down G2718 to G1519 the city G4172 of Samaria G4540 , and preached G2784 Christ G5547 unto them G846 .

|
6. And with one passion the crowds heeded that being said by Philip when they heard and saw the many miraculous signs which he did.
|
6. And G5037 the G3588 people G3793 with one accord G3661 gave heed G4337 unto those things which G5259 Philip G5376 spake G3004 , hearing G191 and G2532 seeing G991 the G3588 miracles G4592 which G3739 he did G4160 .

7. For many of the ones having unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, they came out. And many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.
|
7. For G1063 unclean G169 spirits G4151 , crying G994 with loud G3173 voice G5456 , came out G1831 of many G4183 that were possessed G2192 with them : and G1161 many G4183 taken with palsies G3886 , and G2532 that were lame G5560 , were healed G2323 .

8. And great joy was in that city.
|

|
|
9. But a certain man named Simon had long been conjuring in the city and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one.
|
9. But G1161 there was a certain G5100 man G435 , called G3686 Simon G4613 , which beforetime G4391 in G1722 the G3588 same city G4172 used sorcery G3096 , and G2532 bewitched G1839 the G3588 people G1484 of Samaria G4540 , giving out G3004 that himself G1438 was G1511 some G5100 great one G3173 :

10. All were paying attention to him, from small to great, saying, This one is the power of God, which is great.
|
10. To whom G3739 they all G3956 gave heed G4337 , from G575 the least G3398 to G2193 the greatest G3173 , saying G3004 , This man G3778 is G2076 the G3588 great G3173 power G1411 of God G2316 .

|
11. And they were paying attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his conjuring.
|
11. And G1161 to him G846 they had regard G4337 , because that of long G2425 time G5550 he had bewitched G1839 them G846 with sorceries G3095 .
|
|
12. But when they believed Philip preaching the gospel, the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
|
12. But G1161 when G3753 they believed G4100 Philip G5376 preaching G2097 the things G3588 concerning G4012 the G3588 kingdom G932 of God G2316 , and G2532 the G3588 name G3686 of Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 , they were baptized G907 , both G5037 men G435 and G2532 women G1135 .

13. And Simon himself also believed, and being baptized was continuing steadfastly with Philip. And seeing miraculous signs and mighty works happening, he was amazed.

14. And the apostles in Jerusalem hearing that Samaria had received the Word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

15. who going down prayed concerning them so that they may receive the Holy Spirit.

16. For He had not yet fallen on any one of them, but they were only being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

18. But Simon having seen that the Holy Spirit is given through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, he offered them money,

19. saying, Give to me also this authority that to whomever I may lay on the hands he may receive the Holy Spirit.

20. But Peter said to him, May your silver be with you into perdition, because you thought to get the gift of God through money.
|

21. There is neither part nor lot to you in this matter, for your heart is not upright before the face of God.
|

22. Repent, then, from this wickedness of yours, and petition God if perhaps you will be forgiven the thought of your heart.
|

23. For I see you being in the gall of bitterness and a bundle of unrighteousness.

24. And answering Simon said, You petition to the Lord for me, so that nothing of which you have spoken may come on me.
|

25. Then indeed having earnestly testified and having spoken the Word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, even having preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.

26. But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Rise up and go along south on the highway going down to Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a deserted place.

27. And rising up he went. And, behold, an Ethiopian man, a eunuch, a potentate with Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship!

28. And he was returning. And sitting on his chariot he read the prophet Isaiah.
|

29. And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and join yourself to this chariot.

|
30. And running near Philip heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Indeed, do you know what you are reading?
|
30. And G1161 Philip G5376 ran thither G4370 to him, and heard G191 him G846 read G314 the G3588 prophet G4396 Isaiah, G2268 and G2532 said G2036 G687 G1065 , Understandest G1097 thou what G3739 thou readest G314 ?

31. But he said, How should I be able except someone shall guide me? And he called Philip near, to come up to sit with him.
|
31. And G1161 he G3588 said G2036 G1063 , How G4459 can G1410 G302 I, except G3362 some man G5100 should guide G3594 me G3165 ? And G5037 he desired G3870 Philip G5376 that he would come up G305 and sit G2523 with G4862 him G846 .

32. And the content of the Scripture which he was reading was this: "He was led as a sheep to slaughter, and as a lamb voiceless before the one shearing it, so He does not open His mouth.
|
32. G1161 The G3588 place G4042 of the G3588 Scripture G1124 which G3739 he read G314 was G2258 this G3778 , He was led G71 as G5613 a sheep G4263 to G1909 the slaughter G4967 ; and G2532 like G5613 a lamb G286 dumb G880 before G1726 his G846 shearer G2751 , so G3779 opened G455 he not G3756 his G848 mouth G4750 :

33. In His humiliation His judgment was taken away. And who will recount His generation? For His life is taken away from the earth." Isa. 53:7, 8

34. And answering the eunuch said to Philip, I ask you, about whom does the prophet say this? About himself, or about some other one?

35. And opening his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, Philip announced the gospel to him, Jesus.
|

36. And as they were going along the highway they came on some water. And the eunuch said, Behold, water! What prevents me to be baptized?

37. And Philip said, If you believe from all the heart, it is lawful. And answering he said, I believe Jesus Christ to be the Son of God.

38. And he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
|

39. But when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip. And the eunuch did not see him any more; for he went his way rejoicing.

40. And Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through he preached the gospel to all the cities until he came to Caesarea.
