2. Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of the iniquities of those, who have eyes to see, and see not; and have ears to hear, and hear not: because it is a provoking house.

2. Son H1121 of man H120 , thou H859 dwellest H3427 in the midst H8432 of a rebellious H4805 house H1004 , which H834 have eyes H5869 to see H7200 , and see H7200 not H3808 ; they have ears H241 to hear H8085 , and hear H8085 not H3808 : for H3588 they H1992 are a rebellious H4805 house H1004 .

3. Thou therefore, son of man, prepare thyself baggage Lit. of captivity for going into captivity by day in their sight; and thou shalt be led into captivity from thy place into another place in their sight; that they may see that it is a provoking house.
|
3. Therefore, thou H859 son H1121 of man H120 , prepare H6213 thee stuff H3627 for removing H1473 , and remove H1540 by day H3119 in their sight H5869 ; and thou shalt remove H1540 from thy place H4480 H4725 to H413 another H312 place H4725 in their sight H5869 : it may be H194 they will consider H7200 , though H3588 they H1992 be a rebellious H4805 house H1004 .

4. And thou shalt carry forth thy baggage, baggage for captivity, by day before their eyes: and thou shalt go forth at even, as a captive goes forth, in their sight.
|
4. Then shalt thou bring forth H3318 thy stuff H3627 by day H3119 in their sight H5869 , as stuff H3627 for removing H1473 : and thou H859 shalt go forth H3318 at even H6153 in their sight H5869 , as they that go forth H4161 into captivity H1473 .

|
5. Dig for thyself into the wall of the house, and thou shalt pass through it in their sight:
|

|
6. thou shalt be lifted up on men’s shoulders, and shalt go forth Gr. hidden in secret: thou shalt cover thy face, and shalt not see the ground: because I have made thee a sign to the house of Israel.

In their sight H5869 shalt thou bear H5375 it upon H5921 thy shoulders H3802 , and carry it forth H3318 in the twilight H5939 : thou shalt cover H3680 thy face H6440 , that thou see H7200 not H3808 H853 the ground H776 : for H3588 I have set H5414 thee for a sign H4159 unto the house H1004 of Israel H3478 .

7. And I did thus according to all that he commanded me; and I carried forth my baggage for captivity by day, and in the evening I dug through the wall for myself, and went out secretly; I was taken up on men’s shoulders before them.

8. And the word of the Lord came to me in the morning, saying,

9. Son of man, have not the house of Israel, the provoking house, said to thee, What doest thou?
|
9. Son H1121 of man H120 , hath not H3808 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 , the rebellious H4805 house H1004 , said H559 unto H413 thee, What H4100 doest H6213 thou H859 ?

|
10. Say to them, Thus saith the Lord God, Alex. Say to the prince and the ruler in Israel and to all the house, etc. the Prince and the Ruler in Israel, even to all the house of Israel who are in the midst of them:
|
10. Say H559 thou unto H413 them, Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; This H2088 burden H4853 concerneth the prince H5387 in Jerusalem H3389 , and all H3605 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 that H834 are among H8432 them.

11. say, I am performing signs: as I have done, so shall it be to him: they shall go into banishment and captivity.
|
11. Say H559 , I H589 am your sign H4159 : like as H834 I have done H6213 , so H3651 shall it be done H6213 unto them : they shall remove H1473 and go H1980 into captivity H7628 .

|
12. And the prince in the midst of them shall be borne upon shoulders, and shall go forth in secret through the wall, and shall dig so that he may go forth thereby: he shall cover his face, that he may not be seen by any eye, and he himself shall not see the ground.
|
12. And the prince H5387 that H834 is among H8432 them shall bear H5375 upon H413 his shoulder H3802 in the twilight H5939 , and shall go forth H3318 : they shall dig H2864 through the wall H7023 to carry out H3318 thereby : he shall cover H3680 his face H6440 , that H3282 H834 he H1931 see H7200 not H3808 H853 the ground H776 with his eyes H5869 .

13. And I will spread out my net upon him, and he shall be caught in my Lit. siege, hemming in, etc. toils: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; but he shall not see it, though he shall die there.
|
13. H853 My net H7568 also will I spread H6566 upon H5921 him , and he shall be taken H8610 in my snare H4686 : and I will bring H935 him to Babylon H894 to the land H776 of the Chaldeans H3778 ; yet shall he not H3808 see H7200 it , though he shall die H4191 there H8033 .

14. And I will scatter to every wind all his assistants round about him, and all that help him; and I will draw out a sword after them;
|

15. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I have scattered them among the nations; and I will disperse them in the countries.

|
|
16. And I will leave of them a few men in number spared from the sword, and from famine, and pestilence; that they may declare all their iniquities among the nations whither they have gone; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
|
16. 17. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

18. Son of man, eat thy bread with sorrow, and drink thy water with torment and affliction.
|

|
|
19. And thou shalt say to the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, on the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread in scarcity, and shall drink their water in desolation, that the land may be desolate with all that it contains: for all that dwell in it are Gr. in ungodliness ungodly.

19. And say H559 unto H413 the people H5971 of the land H776 , Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 of the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem H3389 , and of H413 the land H127 of Israel H3478 ; They shall eat H398 their bread H3899 with carefulness H1674 , and drink H8354 their water H4325 with astonishment H8078 , that H4616 her land H776 may be desolate H3456 from all that is therein H4480 H4393 , because of the violence H4480 H2555 of all H3605 them that dwell H3427 therein.

20. And their inhabited cities shall be laid utterly waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
|
20. And the cities H5892 that are inhabited H3427 shall be laid waste H2717 , and the land H776 shall be H1961 desolate H8077 ; and ye shall know H3045 that H3588 I H589 am the LORD H3068 .

21. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

22. Son of man, what is your parable on the land of Israel, that ye say, The days are long, the vision has perished?
|
22. Son H1121 of man H120 , what H4100 is that H2088 proverb H4912 that ye have in H5921 the land H127 of Israel H3478 , saying H559 , The days H3117 are prolonged H748 , and every H3605 vision H2377 faileth H6 ?

|
23. Therefore say to them, Thus saith the Lord; I will even set aside this parable, and the house of Israel shall no more at all use this parable: for thou shalt say to them, The days are at hand, and the import of every vision.
|
23. Tell H559 H413 them therefore H3651 , Thus H3541 saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD H3069 ; I will make this H2088 proverb H4912 H853 to cease H7673 , and they shall no H3808 more H5750 use it as a proverb H4911 H853 in Israel H3478 ; but H3588 H518 say H1696 unto H413 them , The days H3117 are at hand H7126 , and the effect H1697 of every H3605 vision H2377 .

24. For there shall no more be any false vision, nor any one prophesying flatteries in the midst of the children of Israel.
|
24. For H3588 there shall be H1961 no H3808 more H5750 any H3605 vain H7723 vision H2377 nor flattering H2509 divination H4738 within H8432 the house H1004 of Israel H3478 .

25. For I the Lord will speak my words; I will speak and perform them, and will no more delay, for in your days, O provoking house, I will speak the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord.
|
25. 26. Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

27. Son of man, behold, the provoking house of Israel boldly say, The vision which this man sees is for many days, and he prophesy for times afar off.
|
27. Son H1121 of man H120 , behold H2009 , they of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 say H559 , The vision H2377 that H834 he H1931 seeth H2372 is for many H7227 days H3117 to come , and he H1931 prophesieth H5012 of the times H6256 that are far off H7350 .

|
28. Therefore say to them, Thus saith the Lord; Henceforth none of my words shall linger, which I shall speak: I will speak and do, saith the Lord.
|
