2. Therefore prophesy, son of man, set thy face steadfastly toward Jerusalem, and look toward their holy places, and thou shalt prophesy against the land of Israel,

3. and thou shalt say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my Gr. dagger sword out of its sheath, and I will destroy out of thee the transgressor and unrighteous.

3. And say H559 to the land H127 of Israel H3478 , Thus H3541 saith H559 the LORD H3068 ; Behold H2009 , I am against H413 thee , and will draw forth H3318 my sword H2719 out of his sheath H4480 H8593 , and will cut off H3772 from H4480 thee the righteous H6662 and the wicked H7563 .

4. Because I will destroy out of thee the unrighteous and the transgressor, therefore so shall my sword come forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
|
4. Seeing then H3282 that H834 I will cut off H3772 from H4480 thee the righteous H6662 and the wicked H7563 , therefore H3651 shall my sword H2719 go forth H3318 out of his sheath H4480 H8593 against H413 all H3605 flesh H1320 from the south H4480 H5045 to the north H6828 :

5. and all flesh shall know that I the Lord have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more.

6. And thou, son of man, groan with the breaking of thy loins; thou shalt even groan heavily in their sight.
|
6. Sigh H584 therefore, thou H859 son H1121 of man H120 , with the breaking H7670 of thy loins H4975 ; and with bitterness H4814 sigh H584 before their eyes H5869 .

7. And it shall come to pass, if they shall say to thee, Wherefore dost thou groan? that thou shalt say, For the report; because it comes: and every heart shall break, and all hands shall become feeble, and all flesh and every spirit shall faint, and all thighs shall be defiled with moisture: behold, it comes, saith the Lord.
|
7. 8. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

9. Son of man, prophesy, and thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord; Say, Sword, sword, be sharpened and rage,
|
9. Son H1121 of man H120 , prophesy H5012 , and say H559 , Thus H3541 saith H559 the LORD H136 ; Say H559 , A sword H2719 , a sword H2719 is sharpened H2300 , and also H1571 furbished H4803 :

10. that thou mayest slay victims; be sharpened that thou mayest be bright, ready for Gr. paralyzing, or, weakening slaughter, slay, set at nought, despise every tree.
|
10. It is sharpened H2300 to H4616 make a sore slaughter H2873 H2874 ; it is furbished H4803 that H4616 it may glitter H1961 H1300 : should we then H176 make mirth H7797 ? it contemneth H3988 the rod H7626 of my son H1121 , as every H3605 tree H6086 .

11. And he made it ready for his hand to hold: the sword is sharpened, it is ready to put into the hand of the slayer.

12. Cry out and howl, son of man: for this sword is come upon my people, this sword is come upon all the princes of Israel: they shall Gr. sojourn be as strangers: judgement with the sword is come upon my people: therefore clap thine hands, for Gr. it has been justified sentence has been passed:

13. and what if even the tribe be rejected? it shall not be, saith the Lord God.

14. And thou, son of man, prophesy, and clap thine hands, and take a second sword: the third sword is the sword of the slain, the great sword of the slain: and thou shalt strike them with amazement, Alex. that their heart should be broken lest the heart should faint
|
14. 15. and the weak ones be multiplied at every gate—they are given up to the slaughter of the sword: it is well fitted for slaughter, Lit. it has happened well it is well fitted for glittering.

15. I have set H5414 the point H19 of the sword H2719 against H5921 all H3605 their gates H8179 , that H4616 their heart H3820 may faint H4127 , and their ruins H4383 be multiplied H7235 : ah H253 ! it is made bright H6213 H1300 , it is wrapped up H4593 for the slaughter H2874 .

16. And do thou go on, sharpen thyself on the right and on the left whithersoever thy face may Gr. stir itself up set itself.

17. And I also will clap my hands, and Or, relax let loose my fury: I the Lord have spoken it.

18. And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

19. and thou, son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may enter in: the two shall go forth of one country; and there shall be a force at the top of the way of the city, thou shalt set it at the top of the way,
|

Also, thou H859 son H1121 of man H120 , appoint H7760 thee two H8147 ways H1870 , that the sword H2719 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 may come H935 : both twain H8147 shall come forth H3318 out of one land H4480 H776 H259 : and choose H1254 thou a place H3027 , choose H1254 it at the head H7218 of the way H1870 to the city H5892 .

20. that the sword may enter in upon Rabbath of the children of Ammon, and upon Judea, and upon Jerusalem in the midst thereof.

21. For the king of Babylon shall stand on the old way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination, to Perhaps, send forth make bright the arrow, and to enquire of the graven images, and to examine the victims.
|

22. On his right was the divination against Jerusalem, to cast a mound, to open the mouth in shouting, to lift up the voice with crying, to cast a mound against her gates, to cast up a heap, and to Or, set up engines build forts.

22. At his right hand H3225 was H1961 the divination H7081 for Jerusalem H3389 , to appoint H7760 captains H3733 , to open H6605 the mouth H6310 in the slaughter H7524 , to lift up H7311 the voice H6963 with shouting H8643 , to appoint H7760 battering rams H3733 against H5921 the gates H8179 , to cast H8210 a mount H5550 , and to build H1129 a fort H1785 .

23. And he was to them as one using divination before them, and he himself recounting his iniquities, that they might be borne in mind.
|
23. And it shall be H1961 unto them as a false H7723 divination H7080 in their sight H5869 , to them that have sworn H7650 oaths H7621 : but he H1931 will call to remembrance H2142 the iniquity H5771 , that they may be taken H8610 .

24. Therefore thus saith the Lord, Because ye have caused your iniquities to be remembered, in the discovery of your wickedness, so that your sins should be seen, in all your wickedness and in your evil practices; because ye have caused remembrance of them, in these shall ye be taken.

25. And thou profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day, even an end, is come in a sea of iniquity, thus saith the Lord;

26. Thou hast taken off the mitre and put on the crown, it shall not have such another after it: thou hast abased that which was high, and exalted that which was low.

27. Injustice, injustice, injustice, will I make it: woe to it: such shall it be until he comes to whom it belongs; and I will deliver it to him.

28. And thou, son of man, prophesy, and thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord, concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, O sword, sword, drawn for Gr. victims slaughter, and drawn for destruction, awake, that thou mayest gleam.
|
28. 29. Gr. in thy vain vision While thou art seeing vain visions, and while thou art prophesying falsehoods, to bring thyself upon the necks of ungodly transgressors, Alex. whose day the day is come, even an end, in a season of iniquity.

30. Turn, rest not in this place wherein thou wert Gr. begotten born: in thine own land will I judge thee.
|
30. Shall I cause it to return H7725 into H413 his sheath H8593 ? I will judge H8199 thee in the place H4725 where H834 thou wast created H1254 , in the land H776 of thy nativity H4351 .

|
31. And I will pour out my wrath upon thee, I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath, and I will deliver thee into the hands of barbarians skilled in working destruction.
|

32. Thou shalt be fuel for fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of thy land; there shall be no remembrance at all of thee: for I the Lord have spoken it.
|
