John 17:3 (RSV) Revised Standard Version

1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify thy Son that the Son may glorify thee,
2 since thou hast given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom thou hast given him.
3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
4 I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do;
5 and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made.
6 "I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou gavest me out of the world; thine they were, and thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word.
7 Now they know that everything that thou hast given me is from thee;
8 for I have given them the words which thou gavest me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from thee; and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9 I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world but for those whom thou hast given me, for they are thine;
10 all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name, which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.
12 While I was with them, I kept them in thy name, which thou hast given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 But now I am coming to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I do not pray that thou shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldst keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them in the truth; thy word is truth.
18 As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be consecrated in truth.
20 "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word,
21 that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
23 I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I desire that they also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which thou hast given me in thy love for me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but I have known thee; and these know that thou hast sent me.
26 I made known to them thy name, and I will make it known, that the love with which thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them."

3 And G1161 CONJ this G3778 D-NSF is G2076 V-PXI-3S life G2222 N-NSF eternal G166 A-NSF , that G2443 CONJ they might know G1097 V-PAS-3P thee G4571 P-2AS the G3588 T-ASM only G3441 A-ASM true G228 A-ASM God G2316 N-ASM , and G2532 CONJ Jesus G2424 N-ASM Christ G5547 N-ASM , whom G3739 R-ASM thou hast sent G649 V-AAI-2S .

7 Now G3568 ADV they have known G1097 V-RAI-3P that G3754 CONJ all things G3956 A-NPN whatsoever G3745 K-APN thou hast given G1325 V-RAI-2S me G3427 P-1DS are G2076 V-PXI-3S of G3844 PREP thee G4675 P-2GS .
8 For G3754 CONJ I have given G1325 V-RAI-2S unto them G846 P-DPM the G3588 T-APN words G4487 N-APN which G3739 R-APN thou gavest G1325 V-RAI-1S me G3427 P-1DS ; and G2532 CONJ they G846 P-NPM have received G2983 V-2AAI-3P them , and G2532 CONJ have known G1097 V-2AAI-3P surely G230 ADV that G3754 CONJ I came out G1831 V-2AAI-1S from G3844 PREP thee G4675 P-2GS , and G2532 CONJ they have believed G4100 V-AAI-3P that G3754 CONJ thou G4771 P-2NS didst send G649 V-AAI-2S me G3165 P-1AS .
9 I G1473 P-1NS pray G2065 V-PAI-1S for G4012 PREP them G846 P-GPM : I pray G2065 V-PAI-1S not G3756 PRT-N for G4012 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM , but G235 CONJ for G4012 PREP them which G3739 R-GPM thou hast given G1325 V-RAI-2S me G3427 P-1DS ; for G3754 CONJ they are G1526 V-PXI-3P thine G4671 P-2DS .
10 And G2532 CONJ all G3956 A-NPN mine G1699 S-1NPN are G2076 V-PXI-3S thine G4674 S-2NPN , and G2532 CONJ thine G4674 S-2NPN are mine G1699 S-1NPN ; and G2532 CONJ I am glorified G1392 V-RPI-1S in G1722 PREP them G846 P-DPM .
11 And G2532 CONJ now I am G1510 V-PXI-1S no G3756 more G2089 in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM world G2889 N-DSM , but G2532 CONJ these G3778 D-NPM are G1526 V-PXI-3P in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM world G2889 N-DSM , and G2532 CONJ I G1473 P-1NS come G2064 V-PNI-1S to G4314 PREP thee G4571 P-2AS . 12 While G3753 ADV I was G2252 V-IXI-1S with G3326 PREP them G846 P-GPM in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM world G2889 N-DSM , I G1473 P-1NS kept G5083 V-IAI-1S them G846 P-APM in G1722 PREP thy G3588 T-DSN name G3686 N-DSN : those that G3739 R-APM thou gavest G1325 V-RAI-2S me G3427 P-1DS I have kept G5442 V-AAI-1S , and G2532 CONJ none G3762 A-NSM of G1537 PREP them G846 P-GPM is lost G622 V-2AMI-3S , but G1508 the G3588 T-NSM son G5207 N-NSM of perdition G684 N-GSF ; that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF Scripture G1124 N-NSF might be fulfilled G4137 V-APS-3S .
13 And G1161 CONJ now G3568 ADV come G2064 V-PNI-1S I to G4314 PREP thee G4571 P-2AS ; and G2532 CONJ these things G5023 D-APN I speak G2980 V-PAI-1S in G1722 PREP the G3588 T-DSM world G2889 N-DSM , that G2443 CONJ they might have G2192 V-PAS-3P my G3588 T-ASF joy G5479 N-ASF fulfilled G4137 V-RPP-ASF in G1722 PREP themselves G848 .
14 I G1473 P-1NS have given G1325 V-RAI-1S them G846 P-DPM thy G3588 T-ASM word G3056 N-ASM ; and G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM hath hated G3404 V-AAI-3S them G846 P-APM , because G3754 CONJ they are G1526 V-PXI-3P not G3756 PRT-N of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM , even as G2531 ADV I G1473 P-1NS am G1510 V-PXI-1S not G3756 PRT-N of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM .
15 I pray G2065 V-PAI-1S not G3756 PRT-N that G2443 CONJ thou shouldest take G142 V-AAS-2S them G846 P-APM out of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM , but G235 CONJ that G2443 CONJ thou shouldest keep G5083 V-AAS-2S them G846 P-APM from G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM evil G4190 A-GSM .
16 They are G1526 V-PXI-3P not G3756 PRT-N of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM , even as G2531 ADV I G1473 P-1NS am G1510 V-PXI-1S not G3756 PRT-N of G1537 PREP the G3588 T-GSM world G2889 N-GSM .
17 Sanctify G37 V-AAM-2S them G846 P-APM through G1722 PREP thy G3588 T-DSF truth G225 N-DSF : thy G3588 T-NSM word G3056 N-NSM is G2076 V-PXI-3S truth G225 N-NSF .
18 As G2531 ADV thou hast sent G649 V-AAI-2S me G1691 P-1AS into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASM world G2889 N-ASM , even so have I also G2504 P-1NS-C sent G649 V-AAI-1S them G846 P-APM into G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASM world G2889 N-ASM .
19 And G2532 CONJ for their sakes G5228 PREP I G1473 P-1NS sanctify G37 V-PAI-1S myself G1683 F-1ASM , that G2443 CONJ they G846 P-GPM also G2532 CONJ might be G5600 V-PXS-3P sanctified G37 V-RPP-NPM through G1722 PREP the truth G225 N-DSF .
20 Neither G1161 CONJ pray G2065 V-PAI-1S I for G4012 PREP these G5130 D-GPM alone G3440 ADV , but G235 CONJ for G3588 T-GPM them also which shall believe G4100 V-PAP-GPM on G1519 PREP me G1691 P-1AS through G1223 PREP their G3588 T-GSM word G3056 N-GSM ;
21 That G2443 CONJ they all G3956 A-NPM may be G5600 V-PXS-3P one G1520 A-NSN ; as G2531 ADV thou G4771 P-2NS , Father G3962 N-VSM , art in G1722 PREP me G1698 P-1DS , and I G2504 P-1NS-C in G1722 PREP thee G4671 P-2DS , that G2443 CONJ they G846 P-NPM also G2532 CONJ may be G5600 V-PXS-3P one G1520 A-NSN in G1722 PREP us G2254 P-1DP : that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM may believe G4100 V-AAS-3S that G3754 CONJ thou G4771 P-2NS hast sent G649 V-AAI-2S me G3165 P-1AS .
22 And G2532 CONJ the G3588 T-ASF glory G1391 N-ASF which G3739 R-ASF thou gavest G1325 V-RAI-2S me G3427 P-1DS I G1473 P-1NS have given G1325 V-RAI-1S them G846 P-DPM ; that G2443 CONJ they may be G5600 V-PXS-3P one G1520 A-NSN , even as G2531 ADV we G2249 P-1NP are G2070 V-PXI-1P one G1520 A-NSN :
23 I G1473 P-1NS in G1722 PREP them G846 P-DPM , and G2532 CONJ thou G4771 P-2NS in G1722 PREP me G1698 P-1DS , that G2443 CONJ they may be G5600 V-PXS-3P made perfect G5048 V-RPP-NPM in G1519 PREP one G1520 A-ASN ; and G2532 CONJ that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM may know G1097 V-PAS-3S that G3754 CONJ thou G4771 P-2NS hast sent G649 V-AAI-2S me G3165 P-1AS , and G2532 CONJ hast loved G25 V-AAI-2S them G846 P-APM , as G2531 ADV thou hast loved G25 V-AAI-2S me G1691 P-1AS .

25 O righteous G1342 A-VSM Father G3962 N-VSM , the G3588 T-NSM world G2889 N-NSM hath not G3756 PRT-N known G1097 V-2AAI-3S thee G4571 P-2AS : but G1161 CONJ I G1473 P-1NS have known G1097 V-2AAI-1S thee G4571 P-2AS , and G2532 CONJ these G3778 D-NPM have known G1097 V-2AAI-3P that G3754 CONJ thou G4771 P-2NS hast sent G649 V-AAI-2S me G3165 P-1AS .
26 And G2532 CONJ I have declared G1107 V-AAI-1S unto them G846 P-DPM thy G3588 T-ASN name G3686 N-ASN , and G2532 CONJ will declare G1107 V-FAI-1S it : that G2443 CONJ the G3588 T-NSF love G26 N-NSF wherewith G3739 R-ASF thou hast loved G25 V-AAI-2S me G3165 P-1AS may be G5600 V-PXS-3S in G1722 PREP them G846 P-DPM , and I G2504 P-1NS-C in G1722 PREP them G846 P-DPM .
