1 பின்பு தாவீது: நான் எந்த நாளிலாகிலும் ஒரு நாள் சவுலின் கையினால் மடிந்துபோவேன்; இனிச் சவுல் இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லைகளில் எங்கேயாவது என்னைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கலாம் என்கிற நம்பிக்கை அற்றுப்போகும்படிக்கும், நான் அவன் கைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருக்கும்படிக்கும், நான் பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசத்திற்குப் போய், தப்பித்துக்கொள்வதைப்பார்க்கிலும் நலமான காரியம் வேறில்லை என்று தன் இருதயத்தில் யோசித்தான்.
2 ஆகையால் தாவீது தன்னோடிருந்த அறுநூறுபேரோடுங்கூட எழுந்திருந்து, மாயோகின் குமாரனாகிய ஆகீஸ் என்னும் காத்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தான்.
3 அங்கே தாவீதும், அவன் மனுஷரும், அவரவர் வீட்டாரும், தாவீதோடேகூட அவன் இரண்டு மனைவிகளாகிய யெஸ்ரயேல் ஊராளாகிய அகினோகாமும், நாபாலின் மனைவியாயிருந்த கர்மேல் ஊராளாகிய அபிகாயிலும், காத் பட்டணத்தில் ஆகீசிடத்தில் தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.
4 தாவீது காத் பட்டணத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான் என்று சவுலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவன் அப்புறம் அவனைத் தேடவில்லை.
5 தாவீது ஆகீசை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயை கிடைக்குமானால், நான் வாசம்பண்ணும்படி நாட்டிலுள்ள ஊர்களிலே ஒன்றில் எனக்கு இடந்தாரும்; உம்முடைய அடியான் உம்மோடேகூட ராஜதானி பட்டணத்திலே வாசமாயிருப்பானேன் என்றான்.
6 அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ்: அன்றையதினம் சிக்லாகை அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அதினிமித்தம் சிக்லாக் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்களைச் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறது.
7 தாவீது பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்டிலே ஒரு வருஷமும் நாலு மாதமும் குடியிருந்தான்.
8 அங்கேயிருந்து தாவீதும் அவன் மனுஷரும் கெசூரியர் மேலும் கெஸ்ரியர்மேலும் அமலேக்கியர்மேலும் படையெடுத்துப் போனார்கள்; சூருக்குப் போகிற எல்லை துவக்கி எகிப்து தேசமட்டும் இருக்கிற நாட்டிலே பூர்வகாலம் துவக்கிக் குடியிருந்தவர்கள் இவர்களே.
9 தாவீது அந்த நாட்டைக் கொள்ளையடிக்கிறபோது, புருஷர்களையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் உயிரோடே வைக்காமல், ஆடுமாடுகளையும் கழுதைகளையும் ஒட்டகங்களையும் வஸ்திரங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, ஆகீசிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பி வருவான்.
10 இன்று எத்திசையில் போய்க் கொள்ளையடித்தீர்கள் என்று ஆகீஸ் கேட்கும்போது, தாவீது: யூதாவுடைய தென்திசையிலும், யெராமியேலருடைய தென்திசையிலும் கேனியருடைய தென்திசையிலும் என்பான்.
11 இன்ன இன்னபடி தாவீது செய்தான் என்று தங்களுக்கு விரோதமான செய்தியை அறிவிக்கத்தக்க ஒருவரையும் தாவீது காத் பட்டணத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவராதபடிக்கு, ஒரு புருஷனையாகிலும் ஸ்திரீயையாகிலும் உயிரோடே வைக்காதிருப்பான்; அவன் பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்டுப்புறத்திலே குடியிருக்கிற நாளெல்லாம் இவ்வண்ணம் செய்துகொண்டுவந்தான்.
12 ஆகீஸ் தாவீதை நம்பி: அவன் இஸ்ரவேலராகிய தன்னுடைய ஜனங்கள் தன்னை வெறுக்கும்படி செய்கிறான்; என்றைக்கும் அவன் என் ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பான் என்பான்.

3 And David H1732 MMS dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MS with H5973 PREP Achish H397 at Gath H1661 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS and his men H376 NMS , every man H376 NMS with his household H1004 , even David H1732 MMS with his two H8147 wives H802 , Ahinoam H293 the Jezreelitess H3159 , and Abigail H26 the Carmelitess H3761 , Nabal H5037 \'s wife H802 CFS .
4 And it was told H5046 Saul H7586 that H3588 CONJ David H1732 MMS was fled H1272 to Gath H1661 : and he sought H1245 no H3808 W-NPAR more H5750 ADV again H3254 for him .
5 And David H1732 MMS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Achish H397 , If H518 PART I have now H4994 IJEC found H4672 VQQ1MS grace H2580 NMS in thine eyes H5869 , let them give H5414 me a place H4725 NUM-MS in some H259 B-RFS town H5892 in the country H7704 D-NMS , that I may dwell H3427 there H8033 : for why H4100 WL-IGAT should thy servant H5650 dwell H3427 in the royal H4467 city H5892 with H5973 PREP-2FS thee ?
6 Then Achish H397 gave H5414 W-VQY3MS him Ziklag H6860 that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS : wherefore H3651 L-ADV Ziklag H6860 pertaineth H1961 VQQ3FS unto the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 unto H5704 PREP this H2088 D-PMS day H3117 D-AMS .
7 And the time H3117 D-NMP that H834 RPRO David H1732 MMS dwelt H3427 VQQ3MS in the country H7704 of the Philistines H6430 was H1961 W-VPY3MS a full H4557 CMS year H3117 NMP and four H702 months H2320 .
8 And David H1732 MMS and his men H376 went up H5927 W-VHY3MS , and invaded H6584 W-VQY3MP the Geshurites H1651 , and the Gezrites H1511 , and the Amalekites H6003 : for H3588 CONJ those H2007 PPRO-3FP nations were of old H834 RPRO the inhabitants H3427 of the land H776 D-GFS , as thou goest H935 to Shur H7793 , even unto H5704 W-PREP the land H776 GFS of Egypt H4714 .
9 And David H1732 smote H5221 the land H776 D-GFS , and left H2421 VPY3MS neither H3808 W-NPAR man H376 NMS nor woman H802 alive , and took away H3947 W-VQQ3MS the sheep H6629 NMS , and the oxen H1241 W-NMS , and the asses H2543 W-NMP , and the camels H1581 , and the apparel H899 , and returned H7725 , and came H935 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Achish H397 .
10 And Achish H397 said H559 W-VQY3MS , Whither H408 NPAR have ye made a road H6584 today H3117 D-AMS ? And David H1732 MMS said H559 W-VQY3MS , Against H5921 PREP the south H5045 of Judah H3063 , and against H5921 PREP the south H5045 of the Jerahmeelites H3397 , and against H413 W-PREP the south H5045 of the Kenites H7017 .
11 And David H1732 saved H2421 VPY3MS neither H3808 ADV man H376 W-NMS nor woman H802 alive , to bring H935 L-VHFC tidings to Gath H1661 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Lest H6435 CONJ they should tell H5046 on H5921 PREP-1MP us , saying H559 L-VQFC , So H3541 did H6213 VQQ3MS David H1732 , and so H3541 will be his manner H4941 all H3605 NMS the while H3117 D-NMP he dwelleth H3427 VQQ3MS in the country H7704 of the Philistines H6430 .
12 And Achish H397 believed H539 David H1732 , saying H559 L-VQFC , He hath made his people H5971 B-CMS-3MS Israel H3478 utterly to abhor H887 him ; therefore he shall be H1961 W-VQQ3MS my servant H5650 L-CMS forever H5769 NMS .
