1 تب یرُبعل یعنی جدون اور سب لوگ جو اسکے ساتھ تھے سویرے ہی اٹھے اور حرود کے چشمہ کے پاس ڈیرا کیا اور مدیانیوں کی لشکر گاہ انکے شمال کی طرف کوہ مورہ کے متصل وادی میں تھی ۔

2 تب خداوند نے جدون سے کہا تیرے ساتھ کے لوگ اتنے زیادہ ہیں کہ مدیانیوں کو ان کے ہاتھ میں نہیں کر سکتا۔ایسا نہ ہو کہ اسرائیلی میرے سامنے اپنے اوپر فخر کر کے کہنے لگیں کہ ہمارے ہاتھ نے ہم کو بچایا ۔

3 سو تو اب لوگوں میں سنا سنا کر منادی کردے کہ جو کو ئی ترسان اور ہراسان ہو وہ لوٹ کر کوہ جلعاد سے چلا جائے چنانچہ ان لوگوں میں سے بائیس ہزار تو لوٹ گئے اور دس ہزار باقی رہ گئے ۔

4 تب خداوند نے جدون سے کہا کہ لوگ اب بھی زیادہ ہیں سو تو ان کو چشمہ کے پا س نیچے لے آاور وہاں میں تیری خاطران کو آزماﺅ نگا اور ایسا ہو گا کہ جس کی بابت میں تجھ سے کہو ں کہ یہ تیرے ساتھ وہی تیرے ساتھ جا ئے اور جس کے حق میں میں کہوں کہ یہ تیرے ساتھ نہ جائے وہ نہ جائے ۔

5 سو وہ ان لوگوں کو چشمہ کے پاس نیچے لے گیااور خداوند نے جدون سے کہا کہ جو جو اپنی زبان سے پانی چپڑ چپڑ کر کے کتے کی طرح پئے اس کو الگ رکھ اور ویسے ہی ہر ایسے شخص کو جو گھٹنے ٹیک کر پئے ۔

6 سو جنہوں نے اپنا ہاتھ اپنے منہ سے لگا کر چپڑ چپڑ کر کے پیا وہ گنتی میں تین سو مرد تھے اور باقی سب مردوں نے گھٹنے ٹیک کر پانی پیا ۔

7 تب خداوند نے جدون سے کہا کہ میں ان تین سو آدمیوں کے وسیلہ سے جنہوں نے چپڑ چپڑ کر کے پیا تم کو بچاﺅنگا اور مدیونیوں کو تیرے ہاتھ میں کر دونگا او باقی سب لوگ اپنی اپنی جگہ کو لوٹ جائیں ۔

8 تب ان لوگوں نے اپنا انپا توشہ اوت نرسنگا اپنے اپنے ہاتھ میں لیا اور اس نے سب اسرائیلی مردوں کو ان کے دیروں کی طرف روانہ کر دیا پر ان تین سو مردوں کو رکھ لیا اور مدیونیوں کی لشکر گاہ اسکے نیچے وادی میں تھی ۔

9 اور اسی رات خداوند نے اس سے کہا کہ اٹھ اور نیچے لشکر گاہ میں اتر جا کیونکہ میں نے اسے تیرے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے ۔

10 لیکن اگر تو نیچے جاتے ڈرتا ہے تو تُو اپنے نوکر فوراہ کے ساتھ لشکر گاہ میں اتر جا ۔

11 اور تو سن لے گا کہ وہ کیا کہہ رہے ہیں ۔اس کے بعد تجھ کو ہمت ہو گی کہ تو اس لشکر گاہ میں اتر جائے ۔چنانچہ وہ اپنے نوکر فوراہ کوساتھ لیکران سپاہیوں کے پاس جو ا س لشکر گاہ کے کنارے تھے گےا ۔

12 اور مدیانی اور عمالیقی اور اہل مشرق کثرت سے وادی کے بیچ ٹڈیوں کی مانند پھیلے پڑے تھے اور ان کے اونٹ کثرت کے سبب سے سمنر کے کنارے کہ ریت کی مانند بے شمار تھے ۔

13 اور جب جدون پہنچا تو دیکھو وہاں ایک شخص اپنا خواب اپنے ساتھی سے بیان کرتا ہوا کہہ رہا تھا دیکھ میں نے ایک خواب دیکھا ہے کہ جو کی ایک روٹی مدیانی لشکر گاہ میں گری اور لڑھکتی ہو ئی ڈیر ے کے پاس پہنچی اور اس سے ایسی ٹکرائی کہ وہ گر گیا او اس کو ایسا الٹ دیا کہ وہ ڈیرا فراموش ہو گیا ۔

14 تب اس کے ساتھی نے جواب دیا کہ یہ یوآس کے بیٹے جدون اسرائیلی مرد کی تلوار کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں ۔خدا نے مدیان کو اور سارے لشکر کو اس کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے۔

15 جب جدون نے خواب کا مضمون اور اس کی تعبیر سنی تو سجدہ کیا اور اسرائیلی لشکر میں لوٹ کر کہنے لگا اٹھو کیونکہ خداوند نے مدیانی لشکر کو تمہارے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے ۔

16 او ر اس نے تین سو آدمیوں کے تین غول کئے اور ان سبھوں کے ہاتھ میں ایک ایک نرسنگا اور اس کے ساتھ ایک ایک خالی گھڑا دیا اور ہر گھڑے کے اندر ایک ایک مشعل تھی ۔

17 اور اس نے ان سے کہا کہ مجھے دیکھتے رہنا اور ویسا ہی کرنااور دیکھو جب میں لشکر گاہ کے کنارے جا پہنچوں تو جو کچھ میں کروں تم بھی ویسا ہی کرنا ۔

18 جب میں اور وہ سب جو میرے ساتھ ہیں نرسنگا پھونکیں تو تم بھی لشکر گاہ کی ہر طرف نرسنگے پھونکنا اور للکارنا کہ یہوواہ کی اور جدون کی تلوار ۔

19 سو بیچ کے پہر کے شروع میں جب نئے پہرے والے بدلے گئے تو جدون اور وہ سو آدمی جو اس کے ساتھ تھے لشکر گاہ کے کنارے آئے اور انہوں نے نرسنگے پھونکے اور گھڑوں کو جو ان کے ہاتھ میں تھے توڑا۔

20 اور ان تینوں غولوں نے نرسنگے پھونکے اور گھڑے توڑے اور مشعلوں کو اپنے بائیں ہاتھ میں اور نرسنگوں کو پھونکنے کے لئے اپنے دہنے ہاتھ میں لے لیا اور چلا اٹھے کہ یہواہ کی اور جدون کی تلوار !۔

21 اور یہ سب کے سب لشکر گاہ کے چوگرد اپنی اپنی جگہ کھڑے ہو گئے ۔تب سارا لشکر دوڑنے لگا اور انہوں نے چلا چلا کر انکو بھگایا ۔

22 اور انہوں نے تین سو نرسنگوں کو پھونکا اور خداوند نے ہر شخص کی تلوار اس کے ساتھی اور سب لشکر پر چلوائی اور ساری لشکر صریرات کی طرف بیتِ سطہ تک طبات کے قریب ابیل محُولہ کی سرحد تک بھاگا ۔

23 تب اسرائیلی مر نفتالی اور آشر اور منسی کی حدود سے جمع ہو کر نکلے اور مدیانیوں کا پیچھا کیا ۔

24 اور جدون کے افرائیم کے تمام کوہستانی ملک میںقاصد روانہ کئے اور کہلا بھیجا کہ مدیونیوں کے مقابلہ کو اتر آﺅ اور ان سے پہلے پہلے دریایِ یردن ے گھاٹوں پر بیتِ برہ تک قابض ہو گئے ۔

25 اور انہوں نے مدیان کے دو سرداروں عوریب اور زئیب کو پکڑ لیا اور عوریب کو عوریب کی چٹان پر اور زئیب کو زئیب کے کو لھُو کے پاس قتل کیا اور مدیانیوں کو رگیدا اور عوریب اور زئیب کے سر یردن کے پار جدون کے پاس لے آئے ۔
