1 اور جلعادی افتاح بڑا زبردست سورما اور کسبی کا بیٹا تھا اور جلعاد سے افتاح پیدا ہوا تھا ۔

2 اور جلعاد کی بیوی کے بھی اس سے بیٹے ہوئے اور جب اسکی بیوی کے بیٹے بڑے ہو ئے تو انہوں نے افتاح کو یہ کہہ کر نکال دیا کہ ہمارے باپ کے گھر میں تجھے کو ئی میراث نہیں ملیگی کیو نکہ تو غیر عورت ک بیٹا ہے ۔

3 تب افتاح اپنے بھائیوں کے پاس سے بھاگ کر طوب کے ملک میں رہنے لگا اور افتاح کے پاس شہدے جمع ہو گئے اور اس کے ساتھ پھرنے لگے ۔

4 اور کچھ عرصہ کے بعد بنی عمون نے بنی اسرائیل سے جنگ چھیڑ دی ۔

5 اور جب بنی عمون بنی اسرائیل سے لڑنے لگے تو جلعادی بزگ چلے کہ افتاح کو طوب کے ملک سے لے آئیں ۔

6 سو وہ افتاح سے کہنے لگے کہ تو چل کر ہمارا سردار ہو تا کہ ہم بنی عمون سے لڑیں ۔

7 اور افتاح نے جلعادی بزرگوں سے کہا کیا تم نے مجھ سے عداوت کرکے مجھے میرے باپ کے گھر سے نکال نہیں دیا ؟سو اب جو تم مصیبت میں پڑ گئے ہو تو میرے پاس کیوں آئے ؟

8 جلعادی بزرگوں نے افتاح سے کہا کہ اب ہم نے پھر اس لئے تیری طرف رخ کیا ہے کہ تو ہمارے ساتھ چل کے بنی عمون کے ساتھ جنگ کرے اور تو ہی جلعاد کے سب باشندوں پر ہمارا حاکم ہو گا ۔

9 اور افتاح نے جلعادی بزرگوں سے کہا اگر تم مجھے بنی عمون سے لڑنے کو میرے گھر لے چلو اور خداوند ان کو میرے حوالہ کر دے تو کیا میں تمہارا حاکم ہو نگا؟

10 جلعادی بزرگوں نے افتاح کو جواب دیا کہ خداوند ہمارے درمیان گواہ ہو ۔ یقینا جیسا تو نے کہا ہے ہم ویسا ہی کرینگے ۔

11 تب افتاح جلعادی بزرگوں کے ساتھ روانہ ہوا اور لوگوں نے اسے اپنا حاکم اور سردار بنایااور افتاح نے مصفاہ میں خداوند کے آگے اپنی سب باتیں کہہ سنائیں ۔

12 اور افتاح نے بنی عمون کے بادشاہ کے پاس ایلچی روانہ کئے اور کہلا بھیجا کہ تجھے مجھ سے کیا کام جو تو میری ملک میں لڑنے کو میری طرف آیا ؟

13 بنی عمون کے بادشاہ نے افتاح کے ایلچیوں کو جواب دیا اسلئے کہ جب اسرائیلی مصر سے نکل کر آئے تو ارنون سے یبوق اور یردن تک جو میرا ملک تھا اسے انہوں نے چھین لیا ۔سو اب تو ان علاقوں کو صلح و سلامتی سے مجھے پھیر دے ۔

14 تب افتاح نے پھر ایلچیوں کو بنی عمون کے بادشاہ کے پاس روانہ کیا ۔

15 اور یہ کہلا بھیجا کہ افتاح یوں کہتا ہے کہ اسرائیلیوں نے نہ تو موآب کا ملک اور نہ بنی عمون کا ملک چھینا ۔

16 بلکہ اسرائیلی جب مصر سے نکلے اور بیابان چھانتے ہوئے بح قلزم تک آئے اور قادس میں پہنچے ۔

17 تو اسرائیلیوں نے ادوم کے بادشاہ کے پاس ایلچی روانہ کئے اور کہلا بھیجا کہ ہم کو ذرا اپنے ملک سے ہو کر گذر جانے دے لیکن ادوم کا بادشاہ نہ مانا ۔اسی طرح انہوں نے موآب کے بادشاہ کا کہلا بھیجا اور وہ بھی راضی نہ ہوا چنانچہ اسرائیلی قادس میں رہے۔

18 تب وہ بیابان میں ہو کر چلے اور ادوم کے ملک اور موآب کے ملک کے باہر چکر کاٹ کر موآب کے ملک کے مشرق کی طرف آئےاور ارنون کے اس پار ڈیرے ڈالے پر موآب کی سرحد میں داخل نہ ہو ئے اسلئے کہ موآب کی سرحد ارنون تھا ۔

19 پھر اسرائیلیوں نے اموریوں کے بادشاہ سیحون کے پاس جو حسبون کا کا بادشاہ تھا ایلچی روانی کئے اور اسرائیلیوں نے اسے کہلا بھیجا کہ ہم کو ذرا اجازت دے دے کہ تیرے ملک میں سے ہو کر اپنی جگہ کو چلے جائیں ۔

20 پر سیحون نے اسرائیلیوں کا اتنا اعتبار نہ کیا کہ انکو اپنی سرحد سے گذرنے دے بلکہ سیحون اسرائیلیوں سے لڑا ۔

21 اور خداوند اسرائیل کے خدا نے سیحون اور اس کے سارے لشکر کو اسرائیلیوں کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا اور انہوں نے ان کو مار لیا ۔سو اسرائیلیوں نے اموریوں کے جو وہاں کے باشندے تھے سارے ملک پر قبضہ کر لیا ۔

22 اور وہ ارنون سے یبوق تک اور بیابان سے اردن تک اموریوں کی سب سرحدوں پر قابض ہو گئے ۔

23 پس خداوند اسرائیل کے خدا نے اموریوں کو اس کے ملک سے اپنی قوم اسرائیل کے سامنے سے خارج کیا ۔سو کیا تو اب اس پر قبضہ پا ئیگا ؟

24 کیا جو کچھ تیرا دیوتا کموس تجھے قبضہ کرنے کو دے تو اس پر قبضہ نہ کریگا ؟پس جس جس کو خداوند ہمارے خدا نے ہمارے سامنے سے خارج کر دیا ہم بھی ان کے ملک پر قبضہ کرینگے ۔

25 اور کیا تو صفور کے بیٹے بلق سے جو موآب کا بادشاہ تھا کچھ بہتر ہے ؟کیا اس نے اسرائیلیوں سے کبھی جھگڑا کیا یا کبھی ان سے لڑا ؟

26 جب اسرائیلی حسبون اور اس کے قصبوں اور عروعیر اور اس کے قصبوں اور ان سب شہروں میں جو ارنون کے کنارے کنارے ہیں تین سو برس سے بسے ہیں تو اس عرصے میں تم نے ان کو کیونکہ نہ چھڑا لیا ؟

27 غرض میں نے تیری خطا نہیں کی بلکہ تیرا مجھ سے لڑنا تیری طرف سے مجھ پر ظلم ہے ۔پس خداوند ہی منصف ہے بنی اسرائیل اور بنی عمون کے درمیان آج انصاف کرے ۔

28 لیکن بنی عمون کے بادشاہ نے افتاح کی یہ باتیں جو اس نے اسے کہلا بھیجی تھیں نہ مانیں ۔

29 تب خداوند کی روح افتاح پر نازل ہو ئی اور وہ جلعاد اور منسی سے گذر کر جلعاد کے مصفاہ میں آیا اور جلعا د کے مصفاہ سے بنی عمون کی طرف چلا ۔

30 اور افتاح نے خداوند کی منت مانی اور کہا کہ اگر تو یقینا بنی عمون کو میرے ہاتھ میں کر دے ۔

31 تو جب میں بنی عمون کی طرف سے سلامت لوٹونگا اس وقت جو کوئی پہلے میرے گھر کے دروازے سے نکل کر میرے استقبال کو آئے وہ خداوند کا ہو گا اور میں ا سکو سوختنی قربانی کے طور پر گذرانونگا ۔

32 تب افتاح بنی عمون کی طرف ان سے لڑنے کو گیا اور خداوند نے ان کو اس کے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ۔

33 اور اس نے عروعیر سے منیت تک جو بیس شہر ہیں اور ابیل کرامیم تک بڑی خونریزی کے ساتھ انکو مارا ۔اس طرح بنی عمون بنی اسرائیل سے مغلوب ہوئے ۔

34 اور افتاح مصفاہ کو اپنے گھر آیا اور اس کی طبلے بجاتی اور ناچتی ہو ئی اس کے استقبال کو نکل کر آئی اور وہی ایک اس کی اولاد تھی۔ اس کے سوا اس کے کوئی بیٹی بیٹا نہ تھا ۔

35 جب اس نے اسکو دیکھا تو اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ کر کہا ہائے میری بیٹی تو نے مجھے پست کر دیا اور جو مجھے دکھ دیتے ہیں ان میں سے ایک تو ہے کیونکہ میں نے خداوند کو زبان دی ہے اور میں پلٹ نہیں سکتا ۔

36 اس نے اس سے کہا اے میرے باپ تو نے خدا وند کو زبان دی ہے سو جو کچھ تیرے منہ سے نکلا ہے وہی میرے ساتھ کر اسلئے کہ خداوند تیرے دشمنوں بنی عمون سے تیرا انتقام لیا ۔

37 پھر اس نے اپنے باپ سے کہا میرے لئے اتنا کر دیا جائے کہ دو مہینے کہ مہلت مجھے ملے تا کہ میں جا کر پہاڑو ں پر اپنی ہمجولیوں کے ساتھ اپنے کنور پن پر ماتم کرتی پھروں ۔

38 اس نے کہا جا اور اس نے اسے دو مہینے کہ رخصت دی اور وہ اپنی ہمجولیوں کو لیکر گئی اور پہاڑوں پر ماتم کرتی پھری ۔

39 اور دو مہینے کے بعد وہ اپنے باپ کے پاس لوٹ آئی اور وہ اس کے ساتھ ویسا ہی پیش آیا جیسی منت اس نے مانی تھی ۔اس لڑکی نے باپ کا منہ نہ دیکھا تھا ۔سو بنی اسرائیل میں یہ دستور چلا ۔

40 کہ سال بسال اسرائیلی عورتیں جا کر برس میں چار دن تک افتاح جلعادی کی بیٹی کی یاد گاری کرتی تھیں ۔

2 And Gilead ^H1568 \'s wife ^H802 ^CFS bore ^H3205 ^W-VQY3FS him sons ^H1121 ^NMP ; and his wife ^H802 ^D-NFS \'s sons ^H1121 grew up ^H1431 , and they thrust out ^H1644 Jephthah ^H3316 , and said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MP unto him , Thou shalt not ^H3808 ^ADV inherit ^H5157 in our father ^H1 \'s house ^H1004 ^B-CMS ; for ^H3588 ^CONJ thou ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS art the son ^H1121 ^NMP of a strange ^H312 woman ^H802 ^NFS .

3 Then Jephthah ^H3316 fled ^H1272 ^W-VQY3MS from ^M-CMP his brethren ^H251 ^NMP-3MS , and dwelt ^H3427 ^W-VQY3MS in the land ^H776 ^B-GFS of Tob ^H2897 : and there were gathered ^H3950 vain ^H7386 men ^H376 to ^H413 ^PREP Jephthah ^H3316 , and went out ^H3318 ^W-VQY3MP with ^H5973 ^PREP-3MS him .

4 And it came to pass ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS in process of time ^H3117 , that the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 made war ^H3898 against ^H5973 ^PREP Israel ^H3478 ^LMS .

5 And it was ^H1961 ^W-VQY3MS so , that when ^H834 ^K-RPRO the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 made war ^H3898 against ^H5973 ^PREP Israel ^H3478 , the elders ^H2205 of Gilead ^H1568 went ^H1980 ^W-VQY3MP to fetch ^H3947 ^L-VQFC Jephthah ^H3316 out of the land ^H776 ^M-NFS of Tob ^H2897 :

6 And they said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MP unto Jephthah ^H3316 , Come ^H1980 ^VQI2MS-3FS , and be ^H1961 our captain ^H7101 , that we may fight ^H3898 with the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 .

7 And Jephthah ^H3316 said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto the elders ^H2205 of Gilead ^H1568 , Did not ^H3808 ^I-NADV ye ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS hate ^H8130 me , and expel ^H1644 me out of my father ^H1 ^CMS-1MS \'s house ^H1004 ? and why ^H4069 are ye come ^H935 unto ^H413 ^PREP-1MS me now ^H6258 ^ADV when ^H834 ^K-RPRO ye are in distress ^H6862 ^AMS ?

9 And Jephthah ^H3316 said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP the elders ^H2205 of Gilead ^H1568 , If ^H518 ^PART ye ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS bring me home again ^H7725 to fight ^H3898 against the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 , and the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS deliver ^H5414 ^W-VQQ3MS them before ^H6440 me , shall I ^H595 ^PPRO-1MS be ^H1961 ^VQY1MS your head ^H7218 ?

10 And the elders ^H2205 of Gilead ^H1568 said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MP unto ^H413 ^PREP Jephthah ^H3316 , The LORD ^H3068 ^EDS be ^H1961 ^VQY3MS witness ^H8085 between ^H996 us , if ^H518 ^PART we do ^H6213 not ^H3808 ^NADV so ^H3651 ^ADV according to thy words ^H1697 .

11 Then Jephthah ^H3316 went ^H1980 ^W-VQY3MS with ^H5973 ^PREP the elders ^H2205 of Gilead ^H1568 , and the people ^H5971 made ^H7760 ^W-VQY3MP him head ^H7218 and captain ^H7101 over ^H5921 ^PREP-3MP them : and Jephthah ^H3316 uttered ^H1696 ^W-VPY3MS all ^H3605 ^NMS his words ^H1697 ^CMP-3MS before ^H6440 ^L-CMP the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS in Mizpeh ^H4709 .

12 And Jephthah ^H3316 sent ^H7971 ^W-VQY3MS messengers ^H4397 unto ^H413 ^PREP the king ^H4428 ^NMS of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 , saying ^H559 ^L-VQFC , What ^H4100 ^IPRO hast thou to do with me , that ^H3588 ^CONJ thou art come ^H935 against ^H413 ^PREP me to fight ^H3898 in my land ^H776 ?

13 And the king ^H4428 ^NMS of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 answered ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto ^H413 ^PREP the messengers ^H4397 of Jephthah ^H3316 , Because ^H3588 ^CONJ Israel ^H3478 took away ^H3947 ^VQQ3MS my land ^H776 , when they came up ^H5927 out of Egypt ^H4714 ^M-TFS , from Arnon ^H769 even unto ^H5704 ^W-PREP Jabbok ^H2999 , and unto ^H5704 ^W-PREP Jordan ^H3383 ^D-EFS : now ^H6258 ^W-ADV therefore restore those lands again ^H7725 peaceably ^H7965 .

14 And Jephthah ^H3316 sent ^H7971 ^W-VQY3MS messengers ^H4397 again ^H3254 unto ^H413 ^PREP the king ^H4428 ^NMS of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 :

15 And said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto him , Thus ^H3541 saith ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS Jephthah ^H3316 , Israel ^H3478 took not away ^H3947 ^VQQ3MS the land ^H776 ^GFS of Moab ^H4124 , nor the land ^H776 ^GFS of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 :

16 But ^H3588 ^CONJ when Israel ^H3478 came up ^H5927 from Egypt ^H4714 , and walked ^H1980 ^W-VQY3MS through the wilderness ^H4057 unto ^H5704 ^PREP the Red ^H5488 ^NMS sea ^H3220 , and came ^H935 ^W-VQY3MS to Kadesh ^H6946 ;

17 Then Israel ^H3478 sent ^H7971 ^W-VQY3MS messengers ^H4397 unto ^H413 ^PREP the king ^H4428 ^NMS of Edom ^H123 , saying ^H559 ^L-VQFC , Let me , I pray thee ^H4994 ^IJEC , pass ^H5674 through thy land ^H776 : but the king ^H4428 ^NMS of Edom ^H123 would not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR hearken ^H8085 thereto . 18 Then they went along ^H1980 ^W-VQY3MS through the wilderness ^H4057 , and compassed ^H5437 the land ^H776 ^GFS of Edom ^H123 , and the land ^H776 ^GFS of Moab ^H4124 , and came ^H935 ^VQQ3MP by the east side ^H4217 of the land ^H776 of Moab ^H4124 , and pitched ^H2583 on the other side ^H5676 of Arnon ^H769 , but came ^H935 ^VQQ3MP not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR within the border ^H1366 of Moab ^H4124 : for ^H3588 ^CONJ Arnon ^H769 was the border ^H1366 ^CMS of Moab ^H4124 .

19 And Israel ^H3478 sent ^H7971 ^W-VQY3MS messengers ^H4397 unto ^H413 ^PREP Sihon ^H5511 king ^H4428 ^NMS of the Amorites ^H567 ^D-TMS , the king ^H4428 ^NMS of Heshbon ^H2809 ; and Israel ^H3478 said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS unto him , Let us pass ^H5674 , we pray thee ^H4994 ^IJEC , through thy land ^H776 into ^H5704 ^PREP my place ^H4725 .

20 But Sihon ^H5511 trusted ^H539 not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR Israel ^H3478 to pass ^H5674 through his coast ^H1366 : but Sihon ^H5511 gathered all his people together ^H622 , and pitched ^H2583 in Jahaz ^H3096 , and fought ^H3898 against ^H5973 ^PREP Israel ^H3478 ^LMS .

21 And the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS God ^H430 of Israel ^H3478 delivered ^H5414 ^W-VQQ3MS Sihon ^H5511 and all ^H3605 ^NMS his people ^H5971 into the hand ^H3027 ^B-CFS of Israel ^H3478 , and they smote ^H5221 them : so Israel ^H3478 possessed ^H3423 all ^H3605 ^NMS the land ^H776 ^GFS of the Amorites ^H567 ^D-TMS , the inhabitants ^H3427 ^VQPMS of that ^H1931 country ^H776 ^D-GFS .

22 And they possessed ^H3423 all ^H3605 ^NMS the coasts ^H1366 ^CMS of the Amorites ^H567 ^D-TMS , from Arnon ^H769 even unto ^H5704 ^W-PREP Jabbok ^H2999 , and from ^H4480 ^W-PREP the wilderness ^H4057 ^D-NMS even unto ^H5704 ^W-PREP Jordan ^H3383 .

23 So now ^H6258 ^W-ADV the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS God ^H430 ^CDP of Israel ^H3478 hath dispossessed ^H3423 the Amorites ^H567 ^D-TMS from before ^H6440 ^M-CMP his people ^H5971 Israel ^H3478 , and shouldest thou ^H859 ^W-PPRO-2MS possess ^H3423 it ?

24 Wilt not ^H3808 ^I-NADV thou possess ^H3423 that which ^H834 ^RPRO Chemosh ^H3645 thy god ^H430 ^CMP-2MS giveth thee to possess ^H3423 ? So whomsoever ^H834 ^RPRO the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS our God ^H430 ^CMP-2MS shall drive out ^H3423 from before ^H6440 us , them will we possess ^H3423 .

25 And now ^H6258 ^W-ADV art thou ^H859 ^PPRO-2MS any thing better ^H2896 ^AMS than Balak ^H1111 the son ^H1121 of Zippor ^H6834 , king ^H4428 ^NMS of Moab ^H4124 ? did he ever strive ^H7378 against ^H5973 ^PREP Israel ^H3478 , or ^H518 ^PART did he ever fight ^H3898 against them ,

26 While Israel ^H3478 dwelt ^H3427 in Heshbon ^H2809 and her towns ^H1323 , and in Aroer ^H6177 and her towns ^H1323 , and in all ^H3605 ^WB-CMS the cities ^H5892 that ^H834 ^RPRO be along by ^H5921 ^PREP the coasts ^H3027 ^CFD of Arnon ^H769 , three ^H7969 ^BFS hundred ^H3967 ^BFP years ^H8141 ^NFS ? why ^H4069 therefore did ye not ^H3808 ^ADV recover ^H5337 them within that ^H1931 time ^H6256 ?

27 Wherefore I ^H595 have not ^H3808 ^ADV sinned ^H2398 ^VQQ1MS against thee , but thou ^H859 ^W-PPRO-2MS doest ^H6213 ^VQPMS me wrong ^H7451 ^AFS to war ^H3898 against me : the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS the Judge ^H8199 be judge ^H8199 this day ^H3117 ^D-AMS between ^H996 ^PREP the children ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 and the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 .

28 Howbeit the king ^H4428 ^NMS of the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 hearkened ^H8085 not ^H3808 ^W-NPAR unto ^H413 ^PREP the words ^H1697 ^CMP of Jephthah ^H3316 which ^H834 ^RPRO he sent ^H7971 ^VQQ3MS him .

29 Then the Spirit ^H7307 ^NFS of the LORD ^H3068 ^EDS came ^H1961 ^W-VQY3FS upon ^H5921 ^PREP Jephthah ^H3316 , and he passed over ^H5674 ^W-VQY3MS Gilead ^H1568 , and Manasseh ^H4519 , and passed over ^H5674 Mizpeh ^H4708 of Gilead ^H1568 , and from Mizpeh ^H4708 of Gilead ^H1568 he passed over ^H5674 ^VQQ3MS unto the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 .

30 And Jephthah ^H3316 vowed ^H5087 a vow ^H5088 unto the LORD ^H3068 ^L-EDS , and said ^H559 ^W-VQY3MS , If ^H518 ^PART thou shalt without fail deliver ^H5414 the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 into mine hands ^H3027 ,

31 Then it shall be ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS , that whatsoever ^H834 ^RPRO cometh forth ^H3318 of the doors ^H1817 of my house ^H1004 ^CMS-1MS to meet ^H7125 me , when I return ^H7725 in peace ^H7965 from the children ^H1121 of Ammon ^H5983 , shall surely be ^H1961 ^W-VQQ3MS the LORD ^H3068 ^L-EDS \'s , and I will offer it up ^H5927 for a burnt offering ^H5930 .
