that

should

of
the
fruit

the
vineyard:

the
husbandmen
beat

and
sent
him
away
empty.

again
he
sent
another
servant:
and
they
beat
him
also,
and
entreated
him
shamefully,
and
sent
him
away
empty.
12
And
again
he
sent
a
third:
and
they
wounded
him
also,
and
cast
him
out.
13
Then
said
the
lord
of
the
vineyard,
What
shall
I
do?
I
will
send
my
beloved
son:
it
may
be
they
will
reverence
him
when
they
see
him.
14
But
when
the
husbandmen
saw
him,
they
reasoned
among
themselves,
saying,
This
is
the
heir:
come,
let
us
kill
him,
that
the
inheritance
may
be
ours.
15
So
they
cast
him
out
of
the
vineyard,
and
killed
him.
What
therefore
shall
the
lord
of
the
vineyard
do
unto
them?
16
He
shall
come
and
destroy
these
husbandmen,
and
shall
give
the
vineyard
to
others.
And
when
they
heard
it,
they
said,
God
forbid.
17
And
he
beheld
them,
and
said,
What
is
this
then
that
is
written,
The
stone
which
the
builders
rejected,
the
same
is
become
the
head
of
the
corner?
18
Whosoever
shall
fall
upon
that
stone
shall
be
broken;
but
on
whomsoever
it
shall
fall,
it
will
grind
him
to
powder.
19
And
the
chief
priests
and
the
scribes
the
same
hour
sought
to
lay
hands
on
him;
and
they
feared
the
people:
for
they
perceived
that
he
had
spoken
this
parable
against
them.

And
they
watched
him,
and
sent
forth
spies,
which
should
feign
themselves
just
men,
that
they
might
take
hold
of
his
words,
that
so
they
might
deliver
him
unto
the
power
and
authority
of
the
governor.

And
they
asked
him,
saying,
Master,
we
know
that
thou
sayest
and
teachest
rightly,
neither
acceptest
thou
the
person
of
any,
but
teachest

lawful
for

unto

He
was
telling
them

leading
priests,

talk

Jesus.

"Tell
us
what
authority
you
have
to
do
these
things.
Who
gave
you
this
authority?"

Jesus
answered,
"I
will
ask
you
a
question
too.
Tell
me:

When
John
baptized
people,
did
his
authority
come
from
God
or
was
it
only
from
other
people?"

The
priests,
the
teachers
of
the
law,
and
the
Jewish
leaders
all
talked
about
this.
They
said
to
each
other,
"If
we
answer,
'John's
baptism
was
from
God,'
then
he
will
say,
'Then
why
did
you
not
believe
John?'

But
if
we
say
that
John's
baptism
was
from
someone
else,
the
people
will
stone
us
to
death.
They
all
believe
that
John
was
a
prophet.
"

So
they
answered,
"We
don't
know
the
answer."

So
Jesus
said
to
them,
"Then
I
will
not
tell
you
who
gave
me
the
authority
to
do
these
things."

farmers
so
that
they
would
give

his

the

respect

owner's

This
vineyard

be
his.

kill

threw
the

vineyard

killed

"What

the
owner
of
the
vineyard
do?

will
come
and
kill
those
farmers.
Then
he
will
lease
the
land
to

farmers."
When

people
heard
this
story,
they
said,
"This
should
never
happen!"

But
Jesus
looked
into
their
eyes
and
said,
"Then
what
does
this
verse
mean:
'The
stone
that
the
builders
refused
to
accept
became
the
cornerstone
'?

Everyone
who
falls
on
that
stone
will
be
broken.
If
that
stone
falls
on
you,
it
will
crush
you!"

When
the
teachers
of
the
law
and
the
leading
priests
heard
this
story,
they
knew
it
was
about
them.
So
they
wanted
to
arrest
Jesus
right
then,
but
they
were
afraid
of
what
the
people
would
do.

So
the
Jewish
leaders
waited
for
the
right
time
to
get
Jesus.
They
sent
some
men
to
him,
who
pretended
to
be
sincere.
They
wanted
to
find
something
wrong
with
what
Jesus
said.
(If
they
found
something
wrong,
then
they
could
hand
him
over
to
the
governor,
who
had
the
authority
to
arrest
him.)

So
the
men
said
to
Jesus,
"Teacher,
we
know
that
what
you
say
and
teach
is
true.
It
doesn't
matter
who
is
listening—you
teach
the
same
to
all
people.
You
always
teach
the
truth
about
God's
way.

Tell
us,
is
it
right
for
us
to
pay
taxes
to
Caesar
or
not?"

But
Jesus
knew
that
these
men
were
trying
to
trick
him.
He
said
to
them,

"Show
me
a
silver
coin.
Whose
name
and
picture

on
it?"
They
said,
"Caesar's."

He
said
to
them,
"Then
give

belongs
to
Caesar,
and
give
to
God
what
belongs

God."

The
men
were
amazed
at
his
wise
answer.
They
could

nothing.

not
able
to
trick
Jesus

people.
He

against
him.

Sadducees
came
to
Jesus.

They

brother

they
will
have

brothers.

woman

'From
heaven,'

will

because
they
are
convinced
that

answered

they

not
know
its
origin.

that
stone

broken

it

anyone,

grind
him
to
powder!"

Then
the
scribes
and
the
chief
priests
looked
for
a
way
to
get
their
hands
on
Him
that
very
hour,
because
they
knew
He
had
told
this
parable
against
them,
but
they
feared
the
people.

They
watched
closely
and
sent
spies
who
pretended
to
be
righteous,
so
they
could
catch
Him
in
what
He
said,
to
hand
Him
over
to
the
governor's
rule
and
authority.

They
questioned
Him,
"Teacher,
we
know

speak
and
teach
correctly,

don't
show
partiality,
but

truthfully

way
