1 Samuel 19:1 (AKJV) American King James Version

1 And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
2 But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to kill you: now therefore, I pray you, take heed to yourself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide yourself:
3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will commune with my father of you; and what I see, that I will tell you.
4 And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been to you-ward very good:
5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD worked a great salvation for all Israel: you saw it, and did rejoice: why then will you sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6 And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As the LORD lives, he shall not be slain.
7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
8 And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
9 And the evil spirit from the LORD was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.
10 And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11 Saul also sent messengers to David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If you save not your life to night, to morrow you shall be slain.
12 So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.
14 And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15 And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.
17 And Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me so, and sent away my enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said to me, Let me go; why should I kill you?
18 So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelled in Naioth.
19 And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
20 And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
21 And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.
22 Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
23 And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Why they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

4 And Jonathan H3083 spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS good H2896 AMS of David H1732 unto H413 PREP Saul H7586 his father H1 CMS-3MS , and said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS him , Let not H408 NPAR the king H4428 D-NMS sin H2398 against his servant H5650 , against David H1732 ; because H3588 CONJ he hath not H3808 sinned H2398 VQQ3MS against thee , and because H3588 CONJ his works H4639 have been to thee - ward very H3966 ADV good H2896 AMS :

6 And Saul H7586 hearkened H8085 unto the voice H6963 B-NMS of Jonathan H3083 : and Saul H7586 swore H7650 , As the LORD H3068 EDS liveth H2416 AMS , he shall not H518 PART be slain H4191 .
7 And Jonathan H3083 called H7121 W-VQY3MS David H1732 L-NAME , and Jonathan H3083 showed H5046 him all H3605 NMS those H428 D-DPRO-3MP things H1697 AMP . And Jonathan H3083 brought H935 W-VHY3MS David H1732 L-NAME to H413 PREP Saul H7586 , and he was H1961 W-VQY3MS in his presence H6440 L-CMP-3MS , as in times past H8032 .
8 And there was H1961 L-VQFC war H4421 again H3254 : and David H1732 went out H3318 W-VQY3MS , and fought H3898 with the Philistines H6430 , and slew H5221 W-VHY3MS them with a great H1419 AFS slaughter H4347 ; and they fled H5127 W-VQY3MP from him .
9 And the evil H7451 AFS spirit H7307 NFS from the LORD H3068 EDS was H1961 W-VQY3FS upon H413 PREP Saul H7586 , as he H1931 W-PPRO-3MS sat H3427 VQPMS in his house H1004 B-CMS-3MS with his javelin H2595 in his hand H3027 B-CFS-3MS : and David H1732 played H5059 with his hand H3027 .
10 And Saul H7586 sought H1245 to smite H5221 L-VHFC David H1732 even to the wall H7023 with the javelin H2595 ; but he slipped away H6362 out of Saul\'s presence H6440 M-CMP , and he smote H5221 W-VHY3MS the javelin H2595 into the wall H7023 : and David H1732 fled H5127 , and escaped H4422 that H1931 PPRO-3MS night H3915 .
11 Saul H7586 also sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 unto H413 PREP David H1732 L-NAME \'s house H1004 CMS , to watch H8104 him , and to slay H4191 him in the morning H1242 B-NMS : and Michal H4324 David H1732 L-NAME \'s wife H802 CFS-3MS told H5046 him , saying H559 L-VQFC , If H518 PART thou save H4422 not H369 thy life H5315 tonight H3915 D-AMS , tomorrow H4279 NMS thou H859 PPRO-2MS shalt be slain H4191 .
12 So Michal H4324 let David down H3381 through H1157 PREP a window H2474 : and he went H1980 W-VQY3MS , and fled H1272 W-VQY3MS , and escaped H4422 .
13 And Michal H4324 took H3947 W-VQY3FS an image H8655 , and laid H7760 it in H413 PREP the bed H4296 , and put H7760 a pillow H3523 of goats H5795 \' hair for his bolster H4763 , and covered H3680 it with a cloth H899 .
14 And when Saul H7586 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 to take H3947 L-VQFC David H1732 MMS , she said H559 W-VQY3FS , He H1931 PPRO-3MS is sick H2470 .
15 And Saul H7586 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS the messengers H4397 again to see H7200 L-VQFC David H1732 MMS , saying H559 L-VQFC , Bring him up H5927 to H413 PREP-1MS me in the bed H4296 , that I may slay H4191 him .
16 And when the messengers H4397 were come in H935 W-VQY3MP , behold H2009 IJEC , there was an image H8655 in H413 PREP the bed H4296 , with a pillow H3523 of goats H5795 \' hair for his bolster H4763 .
17 And Saul H7586 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP Michal H4324 , Why H4100 L-IPRO hast thou deceived H7411 me so H3602 ADV , and sent away H7971 mine enemy H341 VQCMS-1MS , that he is escaped H4422 ? And Michal H4324 answered H559 W-VQY3MS Saul H7586 , He H1931 PPRO-3MS said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP me , Let me go H7971 ; why H4100 L-IPRO should I kill H4191 thee ?
18 So David H1732 fled H1272 , and escaped H4422 , and came H935 W-VQY3MS to H413 PREP Samuel H8050 to Ramah H7414 , and told H5046 him all H3605 NMS that H834 RPRO Saul H7586 had done H6213 to him . And he H1931 PPRO-3MS and Samuel H8050 went H1980 W-VQY3MS and dwelt H3427 W-VQY3MP in Naioth H5121 .
19 And it was told H5046 Saul H7586 , saying H559 L-VQFC , Behold H2009 IJEC , David H1732 is at Naioth H5121 in Ramah H7414 .
20 And Saul H7586 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 to take H3947 L-VQFC David H1732 MMS : and when they saw H7200 W-VIY3MS the company H3862 of the prophets H5030 prophesying H5012 , and Samuel H8050 standing H5975 as appointed H5324 over H5921 PREP-3MP them , the Spirit H7307 NFS of God H430 EDP was H1961 W-VQY3FS upon H5921 PREP the messengers H4397 of Saul H7586 , and they H1992 also H1571 CONJ prophesied H5012 .
21 And when it was told H5046 Saul H7586 , he sent H7971 W-VQY3MS other H312 AMP messengers H4397 , and they H1992 PPRO-3MP prophesied H5012 likewise H1571 CONJ . And Saul H7586 sent H7971 W-VQY3MS messengers H4397 again H3254 W-VHPMS the third H7992 time , and they H1992 prophesied H5012 also H1571 CONJ .
22 Then went H1980 W-VQY3MS he H1931 PPRO-3MS also H1571 CONJ to Ramah H7414 , and came H935 W-VQY3MS to H5704 PREP a great H1419 D-AMS well H953 that H834 RPRO is in Sechu H7906 : and he asked H7592 W-VQY3MS and said H559 W-VQY3MS , Where H375 IGAT are Samuel H8050 and David H1732 ? And one said H559 W-VQY3MS , Behold H2009 IJEC , they be at Naioth H5121 in Ramah H7414 .
23 And he went H1980 W-VQY3MS thither H8033 ADV to H413 PREP Naioth H5121 in Ramah H7414 : and the Spirit H7307 NFS of God H430 EDP was H1961 W-VQY3FS upon H5921 PREP-3MS him H1931 PPRO-3MS also H1571 CONJ , and he went on W-VQY3MS , and prophesied H5012 , until H5704 PREP he came H935 to Naioth H5121 in Ramah H7414 .
24 And he H1931 PPRO-3MS stripped off H6584 his clothes H899 also H1571 CONJ , and prophesied H5012 before H6440 L-CMP Samuel H8050 in like manner H1571 CONJ , and lay down H5307 W-VQY3MS naked H6174 AMS all H3605 NMS that H1931 PPRO-3MS day H3117 D-AMS and all H3605 NMS that night H3915 AMS . Wherefore H5921 PREP they say H559 , Is Saul H7586 also H1571 CONJ among the prophets H5030 ?
