1 וַיָּבֹאוּ אַנְשֵׁי קִרְיַת יְעָרִים וַיַּעֲלוּ אֶת־אֲרוֹן יְהוָה וַיָּבִאוּ אֹתוֹ אֶל־בֵּית אֲבִינָדָב בַּגִּבְעָה וְאֶת־אֶלְעָזָר בְּנוֹ קִדְּשׁוּ לִשְׁמֹר אֶת־אֲרוֹן יְהוָה ׃ פ
2 וַיְהִי מִיּוֹם שֶׁבֶת הָאָרוֹן בְּקִרְיַת יְעָרִים וַיִּרְבּוּ הַיָּמִים וַיִּהְיוּ עֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה וַיִּנָּהוּ כָּל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל אַחֲרֵי יְהוָה ׃ ס
3 וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל־כָּל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִם־בְּכָל־לְבַבְכֶם אַתֶּם שָׁבִים אֶל־יְהוָה הָסִירוּ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵי הַנֵּכָר מִתּוֹכְכֶם וְהָעַשְׁתָּרוֹת וְהָכִינוּ לְבַבְכֶם אֶל־יְהוָה וְעִבְדֻהוּ לְבַדּוֹ וְיַצֵּל אֶתְכֶם מִיַּד פְּלִשְׁתִּים ׃
4 וַיָּסִירוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־הַבְּעָלִים וְאֶת־הָעַשְׁתָּרֹת וַיַּעַבְדוּ אֶת־יְהוָה לְבַדּוֹ ׃ פ
5 וַיֹּאמֶר שְׁמוּאֵל קִבְצוּ אֶת־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמִּצְפָּתָה וְאֶתְפַּלֵּל בַּעַדְכֶם אֶל־יְהוָה ׃
6 וַיִּקָּבְצוּ הַמִּצְפָּתָה וַיִּשְׁאֲבוּ־מַיִם וַיִּשְׁפְּכוּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וַיָּצוּמוּ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וַיֹּאמְרוּ שָׁם חָטָאנוּ לַיהוָה וַיִּשְׁפֹּט שְׁמוּאֵל אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בַּמִּצְפָּה ׃
7 וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ פְלִשְׁתִּים כִּי־הִתְקַבְּצוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַמִּצְפָּתָה וַיַּעֲלוּ סַרְנֵי־פְלִשְׁתִּים אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּרְאוּ מִפְּנֵי פְלִשְׁתִּים ׃
8 וַיֹּאמְרוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־שְׁמוּאֵל אַל־תַּחֲרֵשׁ מִמֶּנּוּ מִזְּעֹק אֶל־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְיֹשִׁעֵנוּ מִיַּד פְּלִשְׁתִּים ׃
9 וַיִּקַּח שְׁמוּאֵל טְלֵה חָלָב אֶחָד וַיַּעֲלֶה עוֹלָה כָּלִיל לַיהוָה וַיִּזְעַק שְׁמוּאֵל אֶל־יְהוָה בְּעַד יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּעֲנֵהוּ יְהוָה ׃
10 וַיְהִי שְׁמוּאֵל מַעֲלֶה הָעוֹלָה וּפְלִשְׁתִּים נִגְּשׁוּ לַמִּלְחָמָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּרְעֵם יְהוָה בְּקוֹל־גָּדוֹל בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא עַל־פְּלִשְׁתִּים וַיְהֻמֵּם וַיִּנָּגְפוּ לִפְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל ׃
11 וַיֵּצְאוּ אַנְשֵׁי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן־הַמִּצְפָּה וַיִּרְדְּפוּ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּים וַיַּכּוּם עַד־מִתַּחַת לְבֵית כָּר ׃
12 וַיִּקַּח שְׁמוּאֵל אֶבֶן אַחַת וַיָּשֶׂם בֵּין־הַמִּצְפָּה וּבֵין הַשֵּׁן וַיִּקְרָא אֶת־שְׁמָהּ אֶבֶן הָעָזֶר וַיֹּאמַר עַד־הֵנָּה עֲזָרָנוּ יְהוָה ׃
13 וַיִּכָּנְעוּ הַפְּלִשְׁתִּים וְלֹא־יָסְפוּ עוֹד לָבוֹא בִּגְבוּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וַתְּהִי יַד־יְהוָה בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּים כֹּל יְמֵי שְׁמוּאֵל ׃
14 וַתָּשֹׁבְנָה הֶעָרִים אֲשֶׁר לָקְחוּ־פְלִשְׁתִּים מֵאֵת יִשְׂרָאֵל לְיִשְׂרָאֵל מֵעֶקְרוֹן וְעַד־גַּת וְאֶת־גְּבוּלָן הִצִּיל יִשְׂרָאֵל מִיַּד פְּלִשְׁתִּים וַיְהִי שָׁלוֹם בֵּין יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבֵין הָאֱמֹרִי ׃
15 וַיִּשְׁפֹּט שְׁמוּאֵל אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל כֹּל יְמֵי חַיָּיו ׃
16 וְהָלַךְ מִדֵּי שָׁנָה בְּשָׁנָה וְסָבַב בֵּית־אֵל וְהַגִּלְגָּל וְהַמִּצְפָּה וְשָׁפַט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֵת כָּל־הַמְּקוֹמוֹת הָאֵלֶּה ׃
17 וּתְשֻׁבָתוֹ הָרָמָתָה כִּי־שָׁם בֵּיתוֹ וְשָׁם שָׁפָט אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּבֶן־שָׁם מִזְבֵּחַ לַיהוָה ׃ פ
1 And the men H376 CMP of Kirjath H7157 - jearim came H935 W-VQY3MP , and fetched up H5927 the ark H727 of the LORD H3068 EDS , and brought H935 it into H413 PREP the house H1004 CMS of Abinadab H41 in the hill H1389 , and sanctified H6942 Eleazar H499 his son H1121 CMS-3MS to keep H8104 L-VQFC the ark H727 of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
2 And it came to pass H1961 W-VQY3MS , while H3117 M-NMS the ark H727 abode H3427 in Kirjath H7157 - jearim , that the time H3117 M-NMS was long H7235 W-VQY3MP ; for it was H1961 W-VQY3MP twenty H6242 years H8141 NFS : and all H3605 NMS the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 lamented H5091 after H310 PREP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
3 And Samuel H8050 spoke H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP all H3605 NMS the house H1004 CMS of Israel H3478 , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , If H518 PART ye H859 PPRO-2MS do return H7725 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS with all H3605 NMS your hearts H3824 , then put away H5493 the strange H5236 gods H430 CDP and Ashtaroth H6252 from among H8432 you , and prepare H3559 your hearts H3824 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS , and serve H5647 him only H905 L-CMS-3MS : and he will deliver H5337 you out of the hand H3027 M-GFS of the Philistines H6430 .
4 Then the children H1121 of Israel H3478 did put away H5493 Baalim H1168 and Ashtaroth H6252 , and served H5647 the LORD H3068 EDS only H905 .
5 And Samuel H8050 said H559 W-VQY3MS , Gather H6908 all H3605 NMS Israel H3478 to Mizpeh H4709 , and I will pray H6419 for H1157 you unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
6 And they gathered together H6908 to Mizpeh H4709 , and drew H7579 water H4325 OMD , and poured it out H8210 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , and fasted H6684 on that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS , and said H559 W-VQY3MP there H8033 ADV , We have sinned H2398 against the LORD H3068 L-EDS . And Samuel H8050 judged H8199 the children H1121 of Israel H3478 in Mizpeh H4709 .
7 And when the Philistines H6430 heard H8085 W-VQY3MP that H3588 CONJ the children H1121 of Israel H3478 were gathered together H6908 to Mizpeh H4709 , the lords H5633 of the Philistines H6430 went up H5927 against H413 PREP Israel H3478 . And when the children H1121 of Israel H3478 heard H8085 W-VQY3MP it , they were afraid H3372 of M-CMP the Philistines H6430 .
8 And the children H1121 of Israel H3478 said H559 W-VQY3MP to H413 PREP Samuel H8050 , Cease H2790 not H408 NPAR to cry H2199 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS our God H430 for H4480 M-PREP-3MS us , that he will save H3467 us out of the hand H3027 M-GFS of the Philistines H6430 .
9 And Samuel H8050 took H3947 W-VQY3MS a H259 MMS sucking H2461 NMS lamb H2924 , and offered H5927 it for a burnt offering H5930 NFS wholly H3632 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS : and Samuel H8050 cried H2199 unto H413 PREP the LORD H3068 EDS for H1157 PREP Israel H3478 ; and the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS heard H6030 W-VQY3MS him .
10 And as Samuel H8050 was H1961 W-VQY3MS offering up H5927 the burnt offering H5930 , the Philistines H6430 drew near H5066 to battle H4421 against Israel H3478 : but the LORD H3068 EDS thundered H7481 with a great H1419 AMS thunder H6963 B-NMS on that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS upon H5921 PREP the Philistines H6430 TMS , and discomfited H2000 them ; and they were smitten H5062 before H6440 L-CMP Israel H3478 LMS .
11 And the men H376 of Israel H3478 went out H3318 W-VQY3MP of H4480 PREP Mizpeh H4709 , and pursued H7291 the Philistines H6430 TMS , and smote H5221 them , until H5704 PREP they came under H8478 M-CFS Beth H1033 - car .
12 Then Samuel H8050 took H3947 W-VQY3MS a H259 OFS stone H68 GFS , and set H7760 W-VQY3MS it between H996 W-PREP Mizpeh H4709 and Shen H8129 , and called H7121 W-VQY3MS the name H8034 CMS-3FS of it Ebenezer H72 , saying H559 W-VQY3MS , Hitherto H5704 PREP hath the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS helped H5826 us .
13 So the Philistines H6430 were subdued H3665 , and they came H935 L-VQFC no H3808 W-NPAR more H3254 into the coast H1366 of Israel H3478 : and the hand H3027 CFS of the LORD H3068 EDS was H1961 W-VQY3FS against the Philistines H6430 all H3605 NMS the days H3117 CMP of Samuel H8050 .
14 And the cities H5892 which H834 RPRO the Philistines H6430 had taken H3947 from Israel H3478 were restored H7725 to Israel H3478 , from Ekron H6138 even unto H5704 W-PREP Gath H1661 ; and the coasts H1366 thereof did Israel H3478 deliver H5337 out of the hands H3027 M-GFS of the Philistines H6430 TMS . And there was H1961 W-VQY3MS peace H7965 NMS between H996 PREP Israel H3478 and the Amorites H567 .
15 And Samuel H8050 judged H8199 Israel H3478 all H3605 NMS the days H3117 CMP of his life H2416 .
16 And he went H1980 from year H8141 NFS to year H8141 in circuit H5437 to Bethel H1008 LFS , and Gilgal H1537 , and Mizpeh H4709 , and judged H8199 Israel H3478 in H854 all H3605 NMS those H428 places H4725 .
17 And his return H8666 was to Ramah H7414 ; for H3588 CONJ there H8033 ADV was his house H1004 NMS-3MS ; and there H8033 W-ADV he judged H8199 Israel H3478 ; and there H8033 ADV he built H1129 W-VQY3MS an altar H4196 NMS unto the LORD H3068 L-NAME-4MS .
