1 Chronicles 23:1 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 David became an old man, so he made his son Solomon the new king of Israel.
2 David gathered all the leaders of Israel and also the priests and Levites.
3 David counted the Levites who were 30 years old and older. All together there were 38,000 Levites.
4 David said, "24,000 will supervise the work of building the Lord's temple. 6000 will be court officers and judges.
5 4000 will be gatekeepers, and 4000 will be musicians. I made special musical instruments for them. They will use them to praise the Lord."
6 David separated the Levites into three groups. They were the tribes of Levi's three sons, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 From the tribe of Gershon there were Ladan and Shimei.
8 Ladan had three sons. His oldest son was Jehiel. His other sons were Zethan and Joel.
9 Shimei's sons were Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These three sons were leaders in Ladan's families.
10 Shimei had four sons. They were Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
11 Jahath was the oldest son and Ziza was the second son. But Jeush and Beriah did not have many children. So Jeush and Beriah were counted like one family.
12 Kohath had four sons. They were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
13 Amram's sons were Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to be very special. Aaron and his descendants were chosen to be special forever. They were chosen to prepare the holy things for the Lord's service. Aaron and his descendants were chosen to burn the incense before the Lord. They were chosen to serve the Lord as priests. They were chosen to use the Lord's name and give blessings to the people forever.
14 Moses was the man of God, and his sons were part of the tribe of Levi.
15 Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Gershom's oldest son was Shubael.
17 Eliezer's oldest son was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons. But Rehabiah had very many sons.
18 Izhar's oldest son was Shelomith.
19 Hebron's oldest son was Jeriah. Hebron's second son was Amariah. Jahaziel was the third son, and Jekameam was the fourth son.
20 Uzziel's oldest son was Micah, and Isshiah was his second son.
21 Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleazar died without having sons. He only had daughters. Eleazar's daughters married their own relatives. Their relatives were Kish's sons.
23 Mushi's sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth. There were three sons in all.
24 These were Levi's descendants. They were listed by their families. They were the leaders of families. Each person's name was listed. The people who were listed were 20 years old or older. They served in the Lord's Temple.
25 David had said, "The Lord, the God of Israel, has given peace to his people. The Lord has come to Jerusalem to live there forever.
26 So the Levites don't need to carry the Holy Tent or any of the things used in its services anymore."
27 David's last instructions for the Israelites were to count the descendants from the tribe of Levi. They counted the Levite men who were 20 years old and older.
28 The Levites had the job of helping Aaron's descendants in the service of the Lord's Temple. They also cared for the Temple yard and the side rooms in the Temple. They had the job of making all holy things pure. It was their job to serve in God's Temple.
29 They were responsible for putting the special bread on the table in the Temple and for the flour, the grain offerings, and the bread made without yeast. They were also responsible for the baking pans and the mixed offerings. They did all the measuring.
30 The Levites stood every morning and gave thanks and praise to the Lord. They also did this every evening.
31 The Levites prepared all the burnt offerings to the Lord on the Sabbath days, during New Moon celebrations, and on the other special meeting days. They served before the Lord every day. There were special rules for how many Levites should serve each time.
32 So the Levites did everything that they were supposed to do. They took care of the Holy Tent and the Holy Place. And they helped their relatives, the priests, Aaron's descendants, with the services at the Lord's Temple.
1 So when David H1732 was old H2204 and full H7646 of days H3117 NMP , he made H4427 Solomon H8010 MMS his son H1121 king over H5921 PREP Israel H3478 LMS .
2 And he gathered together H622 all H3605 NMS the princes H8269 CMP of Israel H3478 , with the priests H3548 and the Levites H3881 .
3 Now the Levites H3881 were numbered H5608 from the age H1121 of thirty H7970 MMP years H8141 NFS and upward H4605 : and their number H4557 by their polls H1538 , man by man H1397 , was H1961 W-VQY3MS thirty H7970 MMP and eight H8083 thousand H505 MMS .
4 Of which H428 M-PMP , twenty H6242 and four H702 thousand H505 MMS were to set forward H5329 the work H4399 of the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS ; and six H8337 thousand H505 were officers H7860 and judges H8199 :
5 Moreover four H702 thousand H505 MMP were porters H7778 ; and four H702 thousand H505 MMP praised H1984 the LORD H3068 L-EDS with the instruments H3627 which H834 RPRO I made H6213 VQQ1MS , said David , to praise H1984 therewith .
6 And David H1732 divided H2505 them into courses H4256 among the sons H1121 L-CMP of Levi H3878 , namely , Gershon H1648 , Kohath H6955 , and Merari H4847 .
7 Of the Gershonites H1649 were , Laadan H3936 , and Shimei H8096 .
8 The sons H1121 of Laadan H3936 ; the chief H7218 was Jehiel H3171 , and Zetham H2241 , and Joel H3100 , three H7969 .
9 The sons H1121 of Shimei H8096 ; Shelomith H8013 , and Haziel H2381 , and Haran H2039 W-LMS , three H7969 NFS . These H428 PMP were the chief H7218 CMP of the fathers H1 of Laadan H3936 .
10 And the sons H1121 W-CMP of Shimei H8096 were , Jahath H3189 , Zina H2126 , and Jeush H3266 , and Beriah H1283 . These H428 PMP four H702 were the sons H1121 CMP of Shimei H8096 .
11 And Jahath H3189 was H1961 W-VPY3MS the chief H7218 , and Zizah H2125 the second H8145 D-ONUM : but Jeush H3266 and Beriah H1283 had not many H7235 sons H1121 NMP ; therefore they were H1961 W-VPY3MS in one H259 reckoning H6486 , according to their father H1 NMS \'s house H1004 .
12 The sons H1121 of Kohath H6955 ; Amram H6019 , Izhar H3324 , Hebron H2275 , and Uzziel H5816 , four H702 .
13 The sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS of Amram H6019 ; Aaron H175 and Moses H4872 : and Aaron H175 was separated H914 , that he should sanctify H6942 the most holy things H6944 , he H1931 PPRO-3MS and his sons H1121 W-CMP-3MS forever H5704 PREP , to burn incense H6999 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 EDS , to minister H8334 unto him , and to bless H1288 in his name H8034 forever H5704 PREP .
14 Now concerning Moses H4872 the man H376 NMS of God H430 D-EDP , his sons H1121 CMP-3MS were named H7121 of H5921 PREP the tribe H7626 CMS of Levi H3878 .
15 The sons H1121 of Moses H4872 were , Gershom H1648 , and Eliezer H461 .
16 Of the sons H1121 of Gershom H1648 , Shebuel H7619 was the chief H7218 .
17 And the sons H1121 CMP of Eliezer H461 were , Rehabiah H7345 the chief H7218 . And Eliezer H461 had H1961 W-VQY3MP none H3808 W-NPAR other H312 AMP sons H1121 NMP ; but the sons H1121 W-CMP of Rehabiah H7345 were very many H7235 .
18 Of the sons H1121 of Izhar H3324 ; Shelomith H8013 the chief H7218 .
19 Of the sons H1121 of Hebron H2275 ; Jeriah H3404 the first H7218 , Amariah H568 the second H8145 D-ONUM , Jahaziel H3166 the third H7992 D-ONUM , and Jekameam H3360 the fourth H7243 .
20 Of the sons H1121 of Uzziel H5816 ; Michah H4318 the first H7218 , and Jesiah H3449 the second H8145 .
21 The sons H1121 of Merari H4847 ; Mahli H4249 , and Mushi H4187 . The sons H1121 of Mahli H4249 ; Eleazar H499 , and Kish H7027 .
22 And Eleazar H499 died H4191 W-VQY3MS , and had H1961 VQQ3MP no H3808 W-NPAR sons H1121 NMP , but H518 PART daughters H1323 : and their brethren H251 CMP-3MP the sons H1121 NMP of Kish H7027 took H5375 them .
23 The sons H1121 of Mushi H4187 ; Mahli H4249 , and Eder H5740 , and Jeremoth H3406 , three H7969 .
24 These H428 PMP were the sons H1121 of Levi H3878 after the house H1004 of their fathers H1 ; even the chief H7218 CMP of the fathers H1 , as they were counted H6485 by number H4557 B-CMS of names H8034 CFP by their polls H1538 , that did H6213 the work H4399 for the service H5656 of the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , from the age H1121 of twenty H6242 years H8141 NFS and upward H4605 .
25 For H3588 CONJ David H1732 said H559 VQQ3MS , The LORD H3068 EDS God H430 of Israel H3478 hath given rest H5117 unto his people H5971 , that they may dwell H7931 in Jerusalem H3389 forever H5704 PREP :
26 And also H1571 W-CONJ unto the Levites H3881 ; they shall no H369 NPAR more carry H5375 the tabernacle H4908 , nor any H3605 NMS vessels H3627 of it for the service H5656 thereof .
27 For H3588 CONJ by the last H314 words H1697 of David H1732 the Levites H1121 were numbered H4557 CMS from twenty years old H1121 and above H4605 :
28 Because H3588 CONJ their office H4612 was to wait on H3027 the sons H1121 of Aaron H175 for the service H5656 of the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 EDS , in H5921 PREP the courts H2691 , and in H5921 PREP the chambers H3957 , and in H5921 PREP the purifying H2893 of all H3605 L-CMS holy things H6944 , and the work H4639 of the service H5656 of the house H1004 CMS of God H430 ;
29 Both for the shewbread H3899 , and for the fine flour H5560 for meat offering H4503 , and for the unleavened H4682 cakes H7550 , and for that which is baked in the pan H4227 , and for that which is fried H7246 , and for all manner H3605 of measure H4884 and size H4060 ;
30 And to stand H5975 every morning H1242 B-NMS to thank H3034 and praise H1984 the LORD H3068 L-EDS , and likewise H3651 at even H6153 ;
31 And to offer H5927 all H3605 WL-CMS burnt sacrifices H5930 CFP unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS in the sabbaths H7676 , in the new moons H2320 , and on the set feasts H4150 , by number H4557 , according to the order H4941 commanded unto H5921 PREP-3MP them , continually H8548 before H6440 L-CMP the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS :
32 And that they should keep H8104 the charge H4931 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation H4150 NMS , and the charge H4931 of the holy H6944 place , and the charge H4931 of the sons H1121 of Aaron H175 their brethren H251 , in the service H5656 of the house H1004 CMS of the LORD H3068 NAME-4MS .
