1. Reuben was Israel's first son. Reuben should have received the special privileges of the oldest son. But he had sexual relations with his father's wife. So those privileges were given to Joseph's sons. In the family history, Reuben's name is not listed as the first son. Judah became stronger than his brothers, so the leaders came from his family. But Joseph's family got the other privileges that belong to the oldest son. Reuben's sons were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

9. Bela's people lived to the east as far as the edge of the desert, near the Euphrates River. They lived there because they had many cattle in the land of Gilead.

12. Joel was the first leader in Bashan. Shapham was the second leader. Then Janai became the leader.

13. The seven brothers in their families were Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber.

14. They were the descendants of Abihail. Abihail was Huri's son. Huri was Jaroah's son. Jaroah was Gilead's son. Gilead was Michael's son. Michael was Jeshishai's son. Jeshishai was Jahdo's son. Jahdo was Buz's son.

15. Ahi was Abdiel's son. Abdiel was Guni's son. Ahi was the leader of their family.

16. The people in the tribe of Gad lived in the area of Gilead. They lived in the area of Bashan, in the small towns around Bashan, and in all the pastures in the area of Sharon all the way to the borders.

18. From half the tribe of Manasseh and from the tribes of Reuben and Gad there were 44,760 brave men ready for war. They were skilled in war. They carried shields and swords. And they were also good with bows and arrows.

19. They started a war against the Hagrites and the people of Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab.
19. And they made H6213 war H4421 with H5973 the Hagarites H1905 , with Jetur H3195 , and Nephish H5305 , and Nodab H5114 .
20. The men from the tribes of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad prayed to God during the war. They asked God to help them because they trusted him, so God helped them. He allowed them to defeat the Hagrites and those who were with the Hagrites.
20. And they were helped H5826 against H5921 them , and the Hagarites H1905 were delivered H5414 into their hand H3027 , and all H3605 that were with H7945 H5973 them: for H3588 they cried H2199 to God H430 in the battle H4421 , and he was entreated H6279 of them; because H3588 they put their trust H982 in him.
21. They took the animals that belonged to the Hagrites. They took 50,000 camels, 250,000 sheep, 2000 donkeys, and 100,000 people.
21. And they took away H7617 their cattle H4735 ; of their camels H1581 fifty H2572 thousand H505 , and of sheep H6629 two hundred H3967 and fifty H2572 thousand H505 , and of asses H2543 two thousand H505 , and of men H5315 H120 a hundred H3967 thousand H505 .
22. Many Hagrites were killed because God helped the people of Reuben win the war. Then the tribes of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad settled in the land of the Hagrites. They lived there until the time when the Israelites were taken into captivity.
22. For H3588 there fell down H5307 many H7227 slain H2491 , because H3588 the war H4421 was of God H4480 H430 . And they dwelt H3427 in their steads H8478 until H5704 the captivity H1473 .
23. Half the tribe of Manasseh lived in the area of Bashan all the way to Baal Hermon, Senir, and Mount Hermon. They became a very large group of people.
23. And the children H1121 of the half H2677 tribe H7626 of Manasseh H4519 dwelt H3427 in the land H776 : they H1992 increased H7235 from Bashan H4480 H1316 unto H5704 Baalath H1179 -hermon and Senir H8149 , and unto mount H2022 Hermon H2768 .
24. These were the family leaders from half the tribe of Manasseh: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were all strong, brave, and famous men, and they were leaders in their families.
24. And these H428 were the heads H7218 of the house H1004 of their fathers H1 , even Epher H6081 , and Ishi H3469 , and Eliel H447 , and Azriel H5837 , and Jeremiah H3414 , and Hodaviah H1938 , and Jahdiel H3164 , mighty H1368 men H376 of valor H2428 , famous H8034 men H376 , and heads H7218 of the house H1004 of their fathers H1 .
25. But they sinned against the God who their ancestors worshiped. They began worshiping the false gods of the people living there�and those were the people God destroyed.
25. And they transgressed H4603 against the God H430 of their fathers H1 , and went a whoring H2181 after H310 the gods H430 of the people H5971 of the land H776 , whom H834 God H430 destroyed H8045 before H4480 H6440 them.
26. The God of Israel made King Pul of Assyria want to go to war. He was also called Tiglath Pileser. He fought against the tribes of Manasseh, Reuben, and Gad. He forced them to leave their homes and made them prisoners. Pul took them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and near the Gozan River. Those tribes from Israel have lived in those places since that time until today.
26. And the God H430 of Israel H3478 stirred up H5782 H853 the spirit H7307 of Pul H6322 king H4428 of Assyria H804 , and the spirit H7307 of Tiglath H8407 -pileser king H4428 of Assyria H804 , and he carried them away H1540 , even the Reubenites H7206 , and the Gadites H1425 , and the half H2677 tribe H7626 of Manasseh H4519 , and brought H935 them unto Halah H2477 , and Habor H2249 , and Hara H2024 , and to the river H5104 Gozan H1470 , unto H5704 this H2088 day H3117 .
