Acts 14:3 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 Paul and Barnabas went to the city of Iconium and entered the Jewish synagogue. (This is what they did in every city.) They spoke to the people there. They spoke so well that many Jews and Greeks believed what they said.
2 But some of the Jews did not believe. They said things that caused the non-Jewish people to be angry and turn against the Lord's followers.
3 So Paul and Barnabas stayed in Iconium a long time, and they spoke bravely for the Lord. They told the people about God's grace. The Lord proved that what they said was true by causing miraculous signs and wonders to be done through them.
4 But some of the people in the city agreed with the Jews who did not believe Paul and Barnabas. Others followed the apostles. So the city was divided.
5 Some of the Jews there, as well as their leaders and some of the non-Jewish people, were determined to hurt Paul and Barnabas. They wanted to stone them to death.
6 When Paul and Barnabas learned about this, they left the city. They went to Lystra and Derbe, cities in Lycaonia, and to the surrounding areas.
7 They told the Good News there too.
8 In Lystra there was a man who had something wrong with his feet. He had been born crippled and had never walked.
9 He was sitting and listening to Paul speak. Paul looked straight at him and saw that the man believed God could heal him.
10 So Paul shouted, "Stand up on your feet!" The man jumped up and began walking around.
11 When the people saw what Paul did, they shouted in their own Lycaonian language. They said, "The gods have come down to us in the form of humans!"
12 The people began to call Barnabas "Zeus, " and they called Paul "Hermes, " because he was the main speaker.
13 The temple of Zeus was near the city. The priest of this temple brought some bulls and flowers to the city gates. The priest and the people wanted to offer a sacrifice to Paul and Barnabas.
14 But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, understood what the people were doing, they tore their own clothes. Then they ran in among the people and shouted to them:
15 "Men, why are you doing this? We are not gods. We are human just like you. We came to tell you the Good News. We are telling you to turn away from these worthless things. Turn to the true living God, the one who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them.
16 "In the past God let all the nations do what they wanted.
17 But God was always there doing the good things that prove he is real. He gives you rain from heaven and good harvests at the right times. He gives you plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."
18 Even after saying all this, Paul and Barnabas still could hardly stop the people from offering sacrifices to them.
19 Then some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium and persuaded the people to turn against Paul. So they threw stones at him and dragged him out of the town. They thought they had killed him.
20 But when the followers of Jesus gathered around him, he got up and went back into the town. The next day he and Barnabas left and went to the city of Derbe.
21 They also told the Good News in the city of Derbe, and many people became followers of Jesus. Then Paul and Barnabas returned to the cities of Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch.
22 In those cities they strengthened the commitment of the followers and encouraged them to continue in the faith. They told them, "We must suffer many things on our way into God's kingdom. "
23 They also chose elders for each church and stopped eating for a period of time to pray for them. These elders were men who had put their trust in the Lord Jesus, so Paul and Barnabas put them in his care.
24 Paul and Barnabas went through the country of Pisidia. Then they came to the country of Pamphylia.
25 They told people the message of God in the city of Perga, and then they went down to the city of Attalia.
26 And from there they sailed away to Antioch in Syria. This is the city where the believers had put them into God's care and sent them to do this work. Now they had finished it.
27 When they arrived, they gathered the church together and told them about all that God had done with them. They said, "God opened a door so that the non-Jewish people could also believe!"
28 And they stayed there a long time with the Lord's followers.

2 But G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM unbelieving G544 V-PAP-NPM Jews G2453 A-NPM stirred up G1892 V-AAI-3P the G3588 T-GPN Gentiles G1484 N-GPN , and G2532 CONJ made their minds evil affected G2559 V-AAI-3P against G2596 PREP the G3588 T-GPM brethren G80 N-GPM .
3 Long G2425 A-ASM time G5550 N-ASM therefore G3767 CONJ abode G1304 V-AAI-3P they speaking boldly G3955 V-PNP-NPM in G1909 PREP the G3588 T-DSM Lord G2962 N-DSM , which G3588 T-DSM gave testimony G3140 V-PAP-DSM unto the G3588 T-DSM word G3056 N-DSM of G3588 T-GSF his G3588 T-GSF grace G5485 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ granted G1325 V-PAP-DSM signs G4592 N-APN and G2532 CONJ wonders G5059 N-APN to be done G1096 V-PNN by G1223 PREP their G3588 T-GPF hands G5495 N-GPF .
4 But G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NSN multitude G4128 N-NSN of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF city G4172 N-GSF was divided G4977 V-API-3S : and G2532 CONJ part G3588 T-NPM held G2258 V-IXI-3P with G4862 PREP the G3588 T-DPM Jews G2453 A-DPM , and G1161 CONJ part G3588 T-NPM with G4862 PREP the G3588 T-DPM apostles G652 N-DPM .
5 And G1161 CONJ when G5613 ADV there was G1096 V-2ADI-3S an assault G3730 N-NSF made both G5037 PRT of G3588 T-GPN the G3588 T-GPN Gentiles G1484 N-GPN , and G2532 CONJ also of the Jews G2453 A-GPM with G4862 PREP their G3588 T-DPM rulers G758 N-DPM , to use them despitefully G5195 V-AAN , and G2532 CONJ to stone G3036 V-AAN them G846 P-APM ,
6 They were aware of G4894 V-2AAP-NPM it , and fled G2703 V-2AAI-3P unto G1519 PREP Lystra G3082 N-ASF and G2532 CONJ Derbe G1191 N-ASF , cities G4172 N-APF of Lycaonia G3071 N-GSF , and G2532 CONJ into the G3588 T-ASF region that lieth round about G4066 A-ASF :
7 And there G2546 ADV-C they preached the gospel G2097 V-PMP-NPM .
8 And G2532 CONJ there sat G2521 V-INI-3S a certain G5100 X-NSM man G435 N-NSM at G1722 PREP Lystra G3082 N-DPN , impotent G102 A-NSM in his feet G4228 N-DPM , being G5225 V-PAP-NSM a cripple G5560 A-NSM from G1537 PREP his G848 mother G3384 N-GSF \'s womb G2836 N-GSF , who G3739 R-NSM never G3763 ADV had walked G4043 V-LAI-3S :

11 And G1161 CONJ when the G3588 T-NPM people G3793 N-NPM saw G1492 V-2AAP-NPM what G3588 T-NSM Paul G3972 N-NSM had done G4160 V-AAI-3S , they lifted up G1869 V-AAI-3P their G3588 T-ASF voices G5456 N-ASF , saying G3004 V-PAP-NPM in the speech of Lycaonia G3072 ADV , The G3588 T-NPM gods G2316 N-NPM are come down G2597 V-2AAI-3P to G4314 PREP us G2248 P-1AP in the likeness G3666 V-APP-NPM of men G444 N-DPM .
12 And G5037 PRT they called G2564 V-IAI-3P Barnabas G921 N-ASM , Jupiter G2203 N-ASM ; and G1161 CONJ Paul G3972 N-ASM , Mercurius G2060 N-ASM , because G1894 CONJ he G846 P-NSM was G2258 V-IXI-3S the G3588 T-GSM chief speaker G3056 N-GSM .
13 Then G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NSM priest G2409 N-NSM of Jupiter G2203 N-GSM , which was G5607 V-PXP-GSM before G4253 PREP their G3588 T-GSF city G4172 N-GSF , brought G5342 V-AAP-NSM oxen G5022 N-APM and G2532 CONJ garlands G4725 N-APN unto G1909 PREP the G3588 T-APM gates G4440 N-APM , and would G2309 V-IAI-3S have done sacrifice G2380 V-PAN with G4862 PREP the G3588 T-DPM people G3793 N-DPM .
14 Which when G1161 CONJ the G3588 T-NPM apostles G652 N-NPM , Barnabas G921 N-NSM and G2532 CONJ Paul G3972 N-NSM , heard G191 V-AAP-NPM of , they rent G1284 V-AAP-NPM their G3588 T-APN clothes G2440 N-APN , and ran in G1530 V-AAI-3P among G1519 PREP the G3588 T-ASM people G3793 N-ASM , crying out G2896 V-PAP-NPM ,

17 Nevertheless G2544 CONJ he left G863 V-AAI-3S not G3756 PRT-N himself G1438 F-3ASM without witness G267 A-ASM , in that he did good G15 V-PAP-NSM , and gave G1325 V-PAP-NSM us G2254 rain G5205 N-APM from heaven G3771 ADV , and G2532 CONJ fruitful G2593 A-APM seasons G2540 N-APM , filling G1705 V-PAP-NSM our G3588 T-APF hearts G2588 N-APF with food G5160 N-GSF and G2532 CONJ gladness G2167 N-GSF .
18 And G2532 CONJ with these G5023 D-APN sayings G3004 V-PAP-NPM scarce G3433 ADV restrained G2664 V-AAI-3P they G3588 T-APM the G3588 T-APM people G3793 N-APM , that they had not G3361 PRT-N done sacrifice G2380 V-PAN unto them G846 P-DPM .
19 And G1161 CONJ there came thither G1904 V-2AAI-3P certain Jews G2453 A-NPM from G575 PREP Antioch G490 N-GSF and G2532 CONJ Iconium G2430 N-GSN , who G2532 CONJ persuaded G3982 V-AAP-NPM the G3588 T-APM people G3793 N-APM , and G2532 CONJ , having stoned G3034 V-AAP-NPM Paul G3972 N-ASM , drew G4951 V-IAI-3P him out G1854 ADV of G3588 T-GSF the G3588 T-GSF city G4172 N-GSF , supposing G3543 V-AAP-NPM he G846 P-ASM had been dead G2348 V-2RAN .
